This guy is the kind of BMW Technician you want at your BMW specialist. People will pay the money if they know the job is done to the highest standard. When work is done the Technicians can't show you your new pistons or gaskets or chains or anything else really. But they can tell you honestly what they have done and show you old parts. When i repair a Customers BMW even if it is a replacement 10mm hose. i will keep the old one and show them. Ask to see your old parts if they have done the job they will want to show you the old part, if not ask to see there receipt of the part they have purchased for you. I would not mind any Customer questioning me about my work as i am honest and treat every BMW as if it is my own. Don't get ripped off. This guy is the perfect BMW Technician.
Mercedes tech here i have never worked on a bmw s63 motor just recently bought one needed to replace headstud due to incorrect torque long story short i bought the timing kit had all 4 cams held down crank locked my dumbass used the factory chain tensioner to hold tension when i had the tool first start car was running fine but now it is throwing timing codes your 100% right on using the tool i think mine jumped a tooth 😩 gotta drop the motor and retime it again wish i had seen your video first love the channel keep it up ❤
Thank you so much for this video!!! I’m planning to do timing on my n63tu myself and this video helped a lot since this will be my first time. I would like to ask you a few questions regarding timing…where can I email you sir?
Hi, there are plenty of talking online saying you can replace the timing chain without removing the heads however none of them have proven it can be done. In my opinion YOU CANNOT DO THAT. Technically you can, but you will not be able to make the seals/gaskets sit properly on the surface of the block / heads / timing cover. I would definitely recommend the job to be done properly. Consider a full rebuild since you’re already doing the job.
Hi, there is another video on the channel where I talk about the issues with timing chain on the N63 engine. Unfortunately the knock noise is likely coming from rods and timing chains don’t usually make that sound.
Hi Greg, I tried asking BMW but they said I couldn’t buy those tools so you just buy search for them only being mindful the different S63 versions use different tools - the tool in the video is a single bank tool which means you set timing to one bank then move the tools to do the next.

Hi, if the car is still running fine but having timing / VANOS codes you could try to delete all engine adaptations
@@dnl35projects it has 164041 code and 164040 i think timing is off
I love your videos brother!!! This information is so valuable.
I'm glad you like them ! thanks
great content!! But, I was just wondering if I can replace just the black plastic guides for now without using the timing kit?
You can replace the guides (top and left) however one of the main issues with these engines is the amount of stretch on the timing chain
Excellent
thanks

Can i just adjust the the timing on the bank am having the problem with and change the cam sprocket ?
Yes you can set timing individually to each bank however if your engine is out of timing it most certainly requires a new timing chain.
Hey brother how you adjust the camshaft pulleys or there’s no adjustment for the pulleys iam lost
Hi, what do you mean by pulley ? The VANOS sprockets ? Are you timing the engine ? Send me a photo so we can understand
How i know if need to fix time chain in my n63 twin turbo because have knocked noise?

Hi! what is the part number for the installation tool?
And do both banks have to have the tool?

Anyone have the part numbers for the S63TU engine?
I’m not sure about BMW part number but just look at list for s63TU engines - the slot for the intake and exhaust are different for the TU engines
