Just 78 cars were produced from a planned production run of 100, six 302-Rs and 72 304-Rs. Each car was personally road-tested by Andy Rouse.
These are my favourite videos, the Cosworth guy and adam make the best videos to watch.

As a kid I went to Clumber Park for the RAC rally back in the day, saw my first Escos rally car on a J plate doing its thing and my mates dad pointed to a bloke watching and said “That’s Andy Rouse”
My mates Dad (a delusional Ford nut, as you all are) was creaming himself.
I got a poke in the ribs followed by a “That’s Andy Rouse!” As his twisted my head to look in the right direction.
My mates Dad took us to the rally in his brand new MK1 Mondeo in the brightest shade of yellow or green or both. It had Escos like wheels, an RS kit and paintwork coloured speckles on the velour seats. Whatever year that car was sold new is the year we went to Clumber Park. Possibly early 92. Maybe.
I believe the mondeo you went in was a citrus yellow si model and very rare in itself
@@britishbluetess Thanks, it was definitely a 2.0 16v and he managed to get a big discount on it. Either a friend of family worked for Ford or it was through his work. Can’t remember the details. It was some car back then, made my Dads E21 323i look prehistoric.
There's one of those up for auction tomorrow at manor park classics, a rouse 304R in the same colour and spec with a guide price of £35-40k, the video will be live on TH-cam tomorrow.
Hi Paul and Adam, I remember a few of these being sold back in the day when I worked at BSM Bromley, even then I remember many discussions about the look of the kit and the wheels etc, as you say.. Marmite.? This one is unbelievable, such history and low mileage, what a find..!! Alex.
I’m not sure the 5 spoke alloys were standard Rouse. I’m sure they came with standard Lattice wheels if I remember correctly. The 5 spokes were more than likely aftermarket’s.
Turbo Techniques did a limited edition series of 350hp 4x4 Sapphy's. They were well set up and drove great.
Absolutely love the rouse saphs ❤ I think they missed a trick not changing the standard wheels as they do them no justice at all. Some aftermarket wheels seem to set the whole car off perfectly and make the whole thing shine bright.
Something bigger and sportier than those horrible small ugly 5 spokes anyway.

Obviously I’m watching as I’m commenting but yeah. The first love of my life was my magenta 4x4 cossie, ended up with a bd14 inlet cam T38 etc etc. Similar spec on my 2wd and escort cossie. Wish I were still in that world fair play to you still at it mate ❤
Gotta love that Rouse rear spoiler 😄 the side skirts not so much.
302 is the 2wd
304 is the 4wd but the 300 part is the torque figure of 300lb ft

i personally love the body kit / side skirts on the car , makes it stand out & distinguish it from standard sapphire cossie
Paul is spot on with that the 302 and the 304 is the two and four wheel drive versions, stunning looking car who ever bought it, a lovely example 😊
A guy i know had a mint one of these about 20 years ago. I was only thinking about it on the way to work this morning, wondering what it would be worth now, then this video shows up. Talk about synchronicity.
My old mate Dave had one of these, theres a picture of it in Poulton le Fylde somewhere !!! same colour as that too, you never forget them cheesy sideskirts !!!

I'm sure that this car was sold by the now long since closed Mogil Motors in Stirling they used to get a lot of cosworths in and I remember visiting their showroom in Raploch and they had an escort cosworth Monte Carlo for sale they also had an escort cosworth police car that drove around Stirling and Falkirk for a few months In the mid nineties!
There was also a white Sierra cosworth 3 door that has been a topic on a few ford forums registered in 1991 registration J47 WLS that I know was built in Bannockburn that I know a lot about how it came to be.
Great video Adam I should have brought a cosworth when I was younger and had the money big regret but I still love them cars

When my Oldman picked up his magenta 4x4 Saph (also J reg) there was a Rouse Saph sat next to it to waiting collection at Mogil motors Stirling. At the time YMS was a Stirling registered car, I know dad took a pic of them…..I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the car……if I get the pic I’ll ping it over mate. PS, standard Saph cossie for me everyday, interesting car though

Hi Adam, love the rousesport cossy..I had a 302R in white for 12yr...loved that car..Was build number 5 out of 100 spec of mine was lattice wheels with 225 yoko avs tyres on..full rouse bodykit and interior..no wood panels though😂..drilled front discs and twin wiper blades....was running smaller turbo and mapped to 260 bhp..I paid 10k for it in 98 and sold it for 5.5k in 2009....Think it mighnt be worth a bit more nah if it's still around...
I have a Kennedy roll cab and a Clarke top chest box that sit next to my work bench, and I feel like a boss! Then I see Paul's wall of snap on chests.. 😕
Also you could get a very similar front seat/s in a mk3 granada which was an option. The mk3 granada seats had cloth in the middle instead of the full leather.
I've got these ones in my saph! Came from a german Scorpio 2.3i 16V frog eye.

I have an original Rouse Sport Cosworth brochure I got when new and they had Ford Sapphire Cosworth wheels. Think somebody fitted those crappie wheels afterwards.
those are the rouse sport alloy wheel option (in the 'chassis' section of the rouse brochure) they were bad at the time! so bad that they didnt showcase them in the brochure but yep those were the option if you took it!
Andy Rouse is a legend I remember him driving a 3.0 Capri in the British touring car in the 70's
The side skirts are definitely marmite. Probably a really good version of a Sierra but I would always want a 3 door.
It would have to go back on the original wheels for me. Shame we couldn't see a road test of how the smaller Saab turbo effected the engine characteristics.

Remember seeing the rouse sapphire featured in fast ford magazine when they were new and thinking they’ve spoilt it with those side skirts.
I have a saffie cossie 4x4 it's 680hp fully rebuilt. Only comes out in the dry. It's cost me around 60000 she's my baby ❤

Loved the saffys owned several, Loved my 92 facelift 4x4 saphy cos in white, used to attend ford fair many years ago but just never ever found the love for a rouse, front splitter and seats is nice skirts and boot spoiler didnt do it for me. Cool car now though with those miles.

Rouse Cossies were 270 bhp.
And the 302 / 304 was 300lb ft of torque

Im sure there was a yellow Rouse Sport Sapphire that competed in the early super tourer era in the BTCC. Think Chris Hodgetts drove it among others. Can anyone confirm?
Ray Belm drove it in 1990 was yellow and purple and sponsored by Hawaiian tropic

Didn't the 1990 era Fiesta RS Turbo also use the T2 Garrett? Might have been Ford parts bin.

For what I always have understand these Rouse Cosworth's had a T28, not a T2.
Those wheels never came on the car without sounding like an anorak 😅. I never understood the desire for the Rouse 304 myself, much prefer a standard saph. Everyone's different of course but I think the kit looks hideous. great video Adam & Paul as per. Miss my old 2wd.
The original wheels are still with the car mate , but just too ugly , lol

Are you sure they came with those wheels as standard? I thought they had the normal lattice wheels as what’s on them now.(and n the brochure) Never seen those other wheels you pointed out on one, the owner must have put them on to save the originals.
Same, am 99.99% sure they never had those awful 5 spokes. Lattice wheels were standard I thought

Not feeling the side skirts at all, prefer standard myself.
Seats are nice, and I don't mine the wooden door cappings.

I'd make a guess of £50k for such a stunning low miles example, at the time didnt like these but now to have one with its Rouse/race connections would be an amazing thing to have. Didnt realise they used a Saab small T2 turbo on these would be interesting to try one how it compared to a normal 4x4 tuned to around 300 bhp, reduced lag would really make it good on the road.

Always thought that they looked like had crashed through a Richard Grant accessories showroom. I appreciate the rarity but the design ruined what could have been something really tasty. 😮

From memory I think these were 260bhp from factory
There is one of these lying up in my neighborhood its 2.0 gte what ever that means but its got skirts fogs spoiler sunroof all the extras the old man passed away he. Bought it new in 1992 red in colour needs saving.
It a twincam 8 valve engine, nice car though

@@therealpaddy4687 ah I’m just a car motorbike anything with an engine enthusiast, that sounds like a nice Sierra especially with the leather, a good T-Cut with bring that red paintwork back to life, I did that years ago on an old Nissan bluebird and it came up a treat, I was asked many times did I get it resprayed.

These weren't 300bhp no way and that turbo looks exactly the same size as a standard t3
The turbo used on these was a T25 and the 300 comes from the torque figure they produced 👍

Theres an Essex Cosworth specialist that runs a car storage company that owns a Rouse Saphire Cosworth, i can't remember if its the 2WD or 4x4 version though? Its been on Motor Addicts channel? I'll see if i can find it?
Lee Stevens is the guy and its a 304R he says the 300 number is a torque figure 300lbft and 260-270bhp so a VERY healthy increase in power and especially torque!
