Daya’s life went downhill when Alieda got sent to prison and Daya had to takeover the role as mom for her siblings which included getting involved with the drug operations
Daya was jaded from the beginning. Living in a drug house and raising her own siblings while her step dad wanted her and her mom didnt want sht to do with her…. the only way she could have had a future is if she abandoned her siblings and family at 18 and moved out and away.
Then think about Taystee, she was the only one who fought for the right cause till the end. Daya shot the cop which ultimately lead to his death. She WAS responsible for it.
I know everybody hated Daya in the last season but it’s all Aleida’s fault. She’s the one they should be hating. She made her that way. Such a terrible mother
Aleida was part of the problem but I think it was mostly a downward spiral after she shot a guard. She hung out with bad people like Ruiz and got worse in max with daddy
Daya only became an evil person when her mother wasnt in there to look after her anymore . aleida did the best she could . she wasnt perfect but she always made sure her kids were looked after by sleeping with men and getting a job when that job didnt work she sold drugs to provide thats a lot more then i can say for some mother
I understand Aleidas was a bad mother but Daya shouldn’t blame her for everything she’s a grown ass woman who made these decisions. While I dislike aleida she did all she could for Daya in prison
Tati K thank u someone said when your an adult u gotta take responsibility for your actions. It don’t matter what your mother didn’t do for u cause your in jail
Daya is better mother than Aleida. Aleida knows she cannot give her children good life but always drags them along with her because of her selfishness. Then she blames them for her poor choices in life. Daya despite everything chose the best for the childs sake. She broke the cycle
Breaking the mold is a better way to put it, even though it’s the same thing. To break the mold means to put an end to a restrictive pattern of events or behavior by doing things a different way
It was hard to hate daya. Even though she fucked up she still cared about her siblings. Something her mother never did but you bring her to the daughter that you made be a mother.
Daya became a real monster.... Hurting your sisters future because your mom ruined yours is so selfish. She had a chance to keep her sister from that life but she refused out of spite.....
She broke the cycle for her daughter. Gave her up to a good family. Daya is a hero in my book. She probably knew deep down prison would ruin her she gave her baby a chance at a good life where people would love and take care of her.
@@MoyaBrennan6825 Eva was already ruined, look at what the momma says. Girl was in 7th grade banging a drug dealer who was over 20 💀, her life was def already bad.
@Fol A Who? The replacement? Or the first girl who played Eva. Because the first girl who played her, name is Alison Fernandez and she is 13 in real life.
Honestly dayas downfall comes completely back on aledia. She snapped whenever bennet left but he wouldve never left her had it not been for cesar & aleida taking advantage and running him off. I hated watching dayas character arc after that.
Everyone blames Aleida or Bennet or whoever for the Daya’s downfalls and yeah, they do have some responsibility they refuse to take but there comes a time when you gotta take responsibility for the things effecting you. Even when they’re not really yours to be responsible for, if it makes life easier to navigate then you have to do it yourself.
Y’all blame Aleida but daya is capable of controlling herself. People are very capable of healing and overcoming parental abuse, saying they are not is a disrespectful projection on your pathetic need to blame mommy and daddy. Grow up. Get therapy and be better.

It sounds like she took on that role long before Aleida went to prison if I remember correctly.
Yep
She did that long before then
Honestly I blame Bennett cause she starting spiraling down as soon as he abandoned her.
I'm ded
It's Bennetts fault that daya went to prison?
nah all her actions are all on her. she fucked up way too many times beyond bennett's fault.
@@floopk8036 and abandoning their child is okay?? Yah right

I’m so mad. Daya didn’t even kill the guard. She shot him, but it was the inmat Maureen Kukudio that ultimately killed him.

Now Aledia had the right idea to scare Eva straight, but how she approached it was all wrong. It made her relationship with both her daughters worse
Aleida has her good moments, but I hated her ass for the most part.
