The actress who played Maritza came home one day to find that her parents were picked up by ICE. She basically stayed in the US without them. This probably hit real close to home for her.

Carla's storyline really got to me because my mom is from El Salvador and came to the U.S when El Salvador was having their civil war back in the 80's. Growing up she would always tell me how bad the gangs were getting and how we couldn't visit our family there because it was getting more dangerous. So I really felt for Carla when she was pleading with the judge...kids need their parents when growing up.

Jasmine Villatoro You must be very ignorant because the gang violence in El Salvador just gets worse and worse. A few years back I hadn’t seen my aunts, uncles, and cousins for almost 10 years because whenever my mother and I wanted to visit, El Salvador was put on a list that deemed it too dangerous to visit. Obviously some parts are safer than others (a street makes a huge difference). But I’ve had to hear one of my aunts crying on the phone because she’s terrified of leaving her home because of how something dangerous happened right near the home.

It was just a small part but when the judge (I think) asked for the woman with the crying baby to leave, it was so powerful. Basically, you get stuck with the pregnancy, have it because the fetus is SO IMPORTANT, then F you get lost living baby, no one cares any more.
Newsflash, they want people to be stuck with children so that they are vulnerable and docile and don't have options other than obeying because they have a child to feed. Or they want them to struggle so much that they end up dead. It's their greatest form of control. Then they want those children to become soldiers or workers. Or if one of their rich sterile buddies and their wives want token children they get them an unlimited supply of kids lost in the adoption system.

The ICE storyline taught so much. OITNB did something no news channel could - the reality that these people live in, how it is much more horrific than the US public thought. No reason to treat anyone this way. The inhabitable environment that hold people ((yes people, even if the language is different)) is inhumane. And I hope with shows like this and more, it opens the eyes of those who decided to shut them. And something can be put in place to give everyone a fair chance. With the technology and resources available to someone like me, why wouldn't it be used to for this by the people with much more access and clearance. Our government treats the criminals of unforgivable acts of crime and violence a lot better than a foreign parent or person who is coming here to better their lives, these stories often sound similar to the one that started this country in the first place. They live among us, as a neighbor, a friend, a lover, etc until one day they are gone without a word. and some people will say, "if they want to live here, then do it legally" okay, then make it so they can do it legally. There should be a way that a person can come and try to talk to someone, instead they get here, try to communicate and are either sent right back, where now they could be an even bigger target than before and die. Or try again or hear stories and are scared so they try to hide *out of sight out of mind* This causes the parents to not file or reach out to anyone, then their small children grow up here, to one day be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Shipped back to a country they know noone and has nothing. There are protocols for these mass shooters, human and drug trafficking, pedophiles, rapist, bombers, etc - why is this the way ICE handles the non citizen people - ready for the change

This isn't right. How does the USA benefit from exiling young English speaking adults? From a rational perspective, Maritza's case is kind of tragic and doomed because she is a convicted criminal who was part of a prison riot so she isn't a valuable part of society. Read the book called The Line Becomes a River by Francisco Cantú. He was a border patrol agent. Wrote about how dehumanizing the border is. Not only to crossers but also to agents.
Karla's defense scene was my favourite. It's like two people from completely different universes engaging in a legal debate. For one it's just a completely academic exercise which may be slightly stimulating but she will probably forget about it the next day. For the other her life depends on the outcome, and she's completely emotionally invested. We see her prepare for it and spend agonizing amount of hours studying for it throughout the season, but the scene gets it over with quickly like it's just some routine hearing.
Perhaps the parents should be thinking of their children before pulling them along illegal actions that can lead to separation. Perhaps the parents should be the ones setting good examples.

@@anthonylakich1727 oh yeah because following rules blindly and not questioning them was definitely not also a major reason the holocaust could even take place

How many different European immigrant groups were treated like dirt here in the USA? The Irish being a huge one.
The fact of the matter is sense the beginning of the States and even back when they were just colonies they hated people who were different in any form. Appearance, religion, ethnicity, culture, etc. The fact that that mind set has carried so many years to even today is sad, things need to change because how things are now? Its not working.
except we came legally, why should illegals get to skip the line?
I love how Fig, who was the insensitive self-centered selfish “antagonist” is now showing concern towards the prisoners in ICE as opposed to the other woman (forgot her name)

My heart broke. You guys don’t understand. THIS IS REAL. I went to a court for my husband and I literally saw two siblings awaiting to hear from the judge the oldest was maybe 6 💔 their parents were detained by ICE and they weren’t born here.
illegal parents train/coach their children on how to BS the ICE agents, they train/coach them how to cheat US welfare systems, how to obtain fraudulent driver's licenses & SSN's; why can't they coach/train their children on what to say in immigration court?
kelsey magee yeah because a 6 year old is gonna get a drivers license most of them don’t even speak the language 😒 not everyone is the same.. You don’t know what they had to go through to take the decision to get up and leave. You on the other hand are in your privilege home carefree leaving hate comments on TH-cam....
@@steph1958 it doesnt matter "what they had to go through" they still broke the law, and in the case of children brought into the USA illegally, their parents broke the US laws, and their parents are at fault for what happens to them, nobody else. If your father robbed a bank to buy you a Ferrari, do you think the bank would let you keep the Ferrari. No, they would seize it & sell it. My parents also "went thru" plenty, including being beaten by communist party authorities. But they STILL followed all the laws when they emigrated into the USA. They had permission, they applied for it. My mother had a PhD in Mathematics while my father had a PhD in Engineering both Mechanical & Electrical so their approval came much faster, it was approved in 5 months, as compared to the standard 2-3 years it normally takes, because the US had a "fast track" immigration process for people with exceptionally high education that could help the US compete with Russia during the Space Race. Don't tell me about what someone had to "go through" Ive got people in my family who were executed by Communist Party officials but everyone of them went to other countries did so legally. Some went to Canada, some to the USA, come to Sweden, Norwaym, Luxembourg, France, Iceland........................all LEGALLY. People like you have been taught by their parents that it's OK to lie, cheat, deceive, steal. That's what's wrong with you.
kelsey magee yeah, it might be the parents fault for brining them illegally but at the end of the day it’s called having empathy for clueless children who can’t be blamed for their parents actions. no child deserves to be separated from their loved ones to be thrown into the unknown alone. you might’ve gone through your fair share of shit but don’t try to justify the way the government treats the youth. in reality who gives a fuck if they’re born in this shitty ass country or not a kid is a kid and they shouldn’t be punished for their parents choices.

This isn't right. How does the USA benefit from exiling young English speaking adults?
From a rational perspective, Maritza's case is kind of tragic and doomed because she is a convicted criminal who was part of a prison riot so she isn't a valuable part of society. But many other detainees could continue living and working in the States, adding to the US economy, raising families and enriching the American identity. What's wrong with that? Just make them legal if all they did was be born in another country.
@@lukek4713 Again, I am talking about people like Maritza who GREW UP in the USA. If you are still throwing the "they crossed the border illegally" argument, then I'm not sure we should continue the discussion. I don't consider babies and children as "illegal criminals". Do you?
@@lukek4713 Again, can you please read what I'm saying? I am talking about people who GREW UP in the USA. They are not babies anymore. They were taken to the US as babies. What is the point of deporting the English speaking adults who are 100% part of the US society? Unless its pure racism and white nationalism, I don't see how the US benefits from this.
@@iamsultana The nations they come from are responsible for them, not us. Come here illegally at any age and you will be deported if caught.

DANNY IS UNDISPUTED exposing? I’m sure people know this shit really does happen, simply because we as Americans are made to believe that illegals are these predatory criminals that deserve what they get. They know this is happening, they don’t care.

The saddest part of this, is that it is spot on. Everything that is being showed is true and most people don’t realize it. They also don’t realize that people DIE trying to get to this country.
