I also did some testing with these antennas and found that they perform much better at long range when paired with LHCP antennas on the Quad too. These TrueRC patch antennas are LHCP.
For short range I just leave the stock antennas on as they offer better omnidirectional performance. But for distances 3km+ I have found the directional patch antennas to offer much more stable video link and higher bitrate. You do have to make sure your facing the drone for optimal reception though. For drones that come with the stock dji antennas, I wouldn't bother upgrading your goggles to the X Air.
Only on specific long range builds with matching LHCP antennas have I seen the result be better than with stock antennas.
Interesting test and cool video man!
Thank you for your comment bro! Realy amazing to see what you found out on those antennas🚁
I've got those antennas on order and I'm super stoked for them to arrive. Spent a good chunk of time checking out their specs, and word on the street is they really shine in open spaces, perfect for long-distance flights without obstacles. Rocking the Chimera7 Pro V2 myself, and with the stock antennas, I hit a max of 4.6 km. Hoping these bad boys can push me to at least 6-7 km. How about you? What drone are you flying, and what kinda range are you pulling?
@Wild__FPV I tested them with a nazgul 5 inch in long-range trim. I got out to 6.5km with around 20mbps rock solid connection at that distance using a 4000mah Li-ion. Nice clear, open mountain space, so basically no interference. I had to turn around to come home to make it back on the battery 🔋
@@JustinBainbridgeYT Well, that is really good news! Thank you for your answer!
The 03 air unit uses lhcp antennas stock…..
Thanks for saving us the time, much appreciated and great video
Thank you for the feedback and the love on this video🎥
You can just add antenna to your goggle just for go signals ,Also, you have to add an antenna to your drone too. Good test.
Thank you for your comment bro🚁
Thanks , thats really very great and honest review ❤ keep it up man 👍🏻🦾. Love from India ❤
Love to see some guys frome India watching my videos🚁
Fpv is growing ❤️🫶🏻💯🙏🏻
You need to make another test with the same 3 setup : 2 Patch antennas | 2 basic DJI antennas | 1 DJI Antenna x 1 Patch antenna
This test will consist of a ranging test instead of a penetration test.
Why ? Cause i did the same test and I came to the conclusion that the basic antennas exploited the 100% O3 signal on penetration tests. But in range, i think they will lose some Mbps compare to patch cause they are directionnal.
Try for us :)
I need to try that🎥
Mega, danke dir für den Test!
🤘🏻🎥
Very interesting video. Was wondering what these antennas are capable of. Thanks for the video ✌
Thank you for the feedback bro!
hm, these are directional antennas meant to extend range when there's no obstruction. The testing you did is not conclusive. You need to go in an open field, look far away, fly your drone (w/ gps) in that direction and take note of { signal-strength, distance-from-home } to provide an accurate comparison.
That's true and I also think that the X-Air might win the game when it comes to long range flights, but since I personally don't fly a lot of long range I decided to test them in the back yard🚁
Thank you for your feedback bro and happy flying
amen
thanks a lot for this comparison!
u welcome bro! -what do you wanna see next?
thx for the test, maybe you can do an "addon" test, changing the antenna on the kwad to circular too , you loose ~ 3dbi, because of mixing circular with linear
I need to!🚁
I'm currently waiting for those antennas, and I've been studying the characteristics of those antennas quite a bit. Supposedly, they have a better range, but under the condition that there are no obstacles. I hope that's accurate information because from what I've seen in your test, I don't see a significant improvement with those antennas. Happy flying, my friend
for long range, try ORT Helical 6 turn for goggles 2.. that's badass
try and prove by yourself.
Thanks man great test !
The point is you only get a better range with adding these pads or using a ground station, you're looking for a better penetration when flying in urban area and in the woods
Sock antennas are linear and the true rc are lhcp or rhcp. Would be a better comparison to swap drone antennas also to true rc. I don’t think most people would run true rc with stock o3 antennas.
Nices video!
it really doesn't matter. those 100eur antennas doesn't help. 5mbps on the bridge either way. Btw can you get the Dji O3 promised 10km or do you have to upgrade antennas to achieve that?
It does matter it's just that his quad had a linear antenna while the TrueRCs are circular polarized causing a 40% loss (3 db)
And to answer your question, you can get 10 km, but you need absolutely no interference on the ground or skies, clear line of sight, and high gain antennas (helicals/patch antennas)
this isn't a good test considering all the obstructions between .
I tested it in this scenario since I fly there pretty much every day and so it was pretty interesting for me :))
you are using the ultimate foam? it looks like. Are the goggles fitting better after swapping? i think i have a nearly same narrow head
All my real world tests show that DJI stock antennas for both the Goggles V2 and Goggles 2 are the overall best. Stop wasting your money on these gimmicks and spend it on extra batteries instead.
You are so right bro!🚁
the most intelligent comment after already watching 10 test videos and none of them convince me
Even for long range >5km? I don't think so... if those are omnis on top of the goggles. I'm not into dji. They seem omnidirectional. A directional patch antenna outperforms any omnis at long range. You're theoreticaly able to fly 15-20km with the truerc patch antennas. Penetration and range are different shoes. The titles of this video should be called best antennas for freestyle, long range, penetration and so on. Basically wrong to say they're the best antennas.
@@Michelsen3K I’m taking general Bando park use buddy. Let’s not conflate.
How did they flew long range up to 8km is this only possible if I stay on a big mountain? KR Snitchedable
Line of sight is they key. The best position is to stay on top of a hill or mountain, yes
nice video, I like my stock antennas on Goggles 2, would like to see a video comparing antennas on HDZERO Goggles if possible, Thanks for the content Subbed! ✌
Thanks bro 🫡
The stock seemed to a little bit better
It can’t be called an upgrade if it doesn’t improve anything.
For long range and LHCP antennas it will but for most it doesn't change anything
They dont work well with stock antennas. You lose 3db using stock o3 antennas. Try this with matching lhcp on the drone. Big difference.
gooooooooooooooodddddddddddd
You will not got 30km with standard antennas you need the vista as well
you don't put rims on a Ferrari!
So yeah stock is better
Did you hear anything about lhcp rhcp ?
