      When I moved out on my own a few years ago, I made sure to get a circular saw and drill. Those two on their own will solve so. many. problems. Mine are Ryobi like in the video and I got them as a package deal from Home Depot on Black Friday. I think it was around $150 for both tools and a battery pack. When it comes to learning how to use them, I highly recommend Steve Ramsey’s channel. He’s actually a woodworker, but he makes excellent basics videos. He has a bunch that are basically saws, screws, drills, etc. 101.

    • @tvstudentNL
      @tvstudentNL 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I was about to recommend Steve Ramsey, but I see someone else already did as well! He’s really great for beginner/weekend woodworking, and has great tips for what to look for jn your first tools, and how to use them. I’ve been woodworking for over a year now and just got delivered my first table saw today. I’ve been able to make lots of great pieces of furniture with only a cheap second hand miter saw, drill, borrowed jigsaw and second hand sander. I’ve since expanded to having my own jigsaw, circle saw and now table saw and I can make all the things. Start looking on craigslist (or maybe some Prime Day deals!) and begin small. Another great source for easy to follow woodworking plans is Ana White. Good luck and have fun!

    Tip for anyone doing the canopy diy-
    you should probably attach string to the corners of the rectangle and hook them onto the ceiling..

    Love how the corner shelf turned out! One quick carpentry tip: when using wood glue, your seams will be a lot cleaner and stronger if you use a little scrap of wood or your finger to smooth out the glue so that it evenly covers the surface before attaching and clamping the other piece. It also really helps to use a damp rag to wipe off glue that leaks out of the edges after clamping before it dries. That way you won't have to sand those big glue bumps off later! Plus, your stain won't sink into the parts that are covered by wood glue.

  • @cynthiahowe8697
    @cynthiahowe8697 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    FYI wood may shrink after being cut but I have used recycled wood from an old house and 2x4's were actually 2x4. Now the shortage is due to blade width. Each side of the wood loses a blade's width because they aren't allowing the width of the blade in the measurements to cut the boards anymore. Like when you make your own patterns if you cut on the line or outside of the line or inside the line it changes your seam allowance.

    Given how light that canopy would be I bet it would make a great classroom feature. I know some elementary school teachers get really creative with reading nooks, and I think that could look pretty great. Maybe modified with a smaller rectangle depending on the size of your room. But it looks light enough to hang on the bars between drop ceiling tiles, is why I thought about it.

      Bela Castaneda first of she asked her to make a produce bag not that produce bag
      Second she asked for it to be cuter and Becky did just that
      If you going to leave mean comments then just don't watch their videos

      Yeah I didn't really like it and I feel like produce would fall through the holes. That's why she had big items in the bag for the final outcome. I feel like it could've been done better.

      @@Crafts-cw3ng every person has a right to disagree. and she didn't even leave any mean comments. she just said her own opinion which contains no mean or hate sentences. also, Becky didnt even do produce bag because all produce would fall out of the big holes. it's just looks like a summer bag where you bring your picnic mat, beach towel and summer stuff.

    These DIY's were SO GOOD! I am saving this to my crafty ideas playlist and I am totally going to remake at least the last two. Debating the curtain one because I have 2 cats with claws...I think you see where my head's at with that one.

    You really do create some great ideas. I’m grateful you take the time to clearly share how you do things using clear instructions and break things down so it’s not so intimidating. Would you consider doing more “it costs how much?” and DIY-ing a cheaper option? Thank You. Love to you from England. xxx

    A tip for people doing the canopy DIY, if you are using 4 curtains, you actually DO NOT need to find the middle of the curtains and make the incisions. The border between each curtain naturally provides the space for the knot....

    Those look like the beads my juvenile(delinquent) mixed chihuahua/something long and dotted got out of the bottom of a stuffed animal. She ate most of them,(tablespoon or two)but we weren’t worried because we thought they were plastic, and would just move on out. It took three days for all of them to pass because they absorbed moisture and swelled to at least twice the original size. There were no warnings on the animal regarding young children, so we removed anything protruding, and besides, what could a baby pupper do. A lot!!!! Not relaxed, but thought I’d pass the info along to any crafters who/whom might encounter something like this !
    Y’all are so cute. Do you figure out these crafts without help?
    I’d like to see you make a dog bed that’s big enough for a lab/something and a chihuahua/raptor to cuddle in. Not too expensive please.
    Bless you ladies, you’re the bomb..🙏🏼💋

    Serious question- I have lots of bamboo chopsticks (the one that comes with the takeaway) I don’t want to throw them and I’m sure there is a Home decor DIY creative way to use them- it’s wood after all :)
    Love to hear your thoughts 🥢👯‍♀️

    • @dharshinibabu4732
      @dharshinibabu4732 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @peerli Attias You can buy a mirror and stick those chopsticks at the back of the mirror and hang em on the wall, it will make a cute statement piece. You could even paint the chopsticks in the colour you want, before attaching them at the back of the mirror.

    Wood doesn't shrink when cut. They rough cut it at the even sizes and then it's planed down smooth and dried, the sizing ends up smaller. So a rough sawn 2x4 is truly 2x4 but a regular one you usually find is 1.5x3.5.

    I’ve got a tip for you. Use 90 proof(or higher if you can find it) rubbing alcohol and it will slide right off. (I’m referring to the writing on the pvc or any craft with unwanted writing)Way stronger then nail polish remover 0% elbow grease. Way cheaper then spray paint if you need it and does not give the opportunity to expose

    For the produce bag, add some pretty beads that match/coordinate with whatever colour you choose for the handle to the bottom knots! Just add one more knot under the bead to secure and then do the same tassel effect. I think that’d be very cute! Maybe some round wood beads or bigger funky glass beads, chunks of amethyst or other gem ( or a cheaper look alike). Would add to the boho feel and look extra pretty/fancy
