When I moved out on my own a few years ago, I made sure to get a circular saw and drill. Those two on their own will solve so. many. problems. Mine are Ryobi like in the video and I got them as a package deal from Home Depot on Black Friday. I think it was around $150 for both tools and a battery pack. When it comes to learning how to use them, I highly recommend Steve Ramsey’s channel. He’s actually a woodworker, but he makes excellent basics videos. I was about to recommend Steve Ramsey, but I see someone else already did as well! He’s really great for beginner/weekend woodworking, and has great tips for what to look for jn your first tools, and how to use them. I’ve been woodworking for over a year now and just got delivered my first table saw today. I’ve been able to make lots of great pieces of furniture with only a cheap second hand miter saw, drill, borrowed jigsaw and second hand sander. I’ve since expanded to having my own jigsaw, circle saw and now table saw and I can make all the things. Start looking on craigslist (or maybe some Prime Day deals!) and begin small. Another great source for easy to follow woodworking plans is Ana White. Good luck and have fun!
not for people who do not have time to learn to crochet. Itll take more time and its wasteful to buy tools and supplies for crocheting if ur only going to use it for just one thing
Tip for anyone doing the canopy diy- you should probably attach string to the corners of the rectangle and hook them onto the ceiling.. this way the canopy stays in line with the bed and isn’t crooked
I was thinking something must have snapped because the canopy did look wonky in the final shot. The back corner at the top of the bed was low. But it was a great DIY either way maybe just needed a bit more securing in the final bit.
Love how the corner shelf turned out! One quick carpentry tip: when using wood glue, your seams will be a lot cleaner and stronger if you use a little scrap of wood or your finger to smooth out the glue so that it evenly covers the surface before attaching and clamping the other piece. It also really helps to use a damp rag to wipe off glue that leaks out of the edges after clamping before it dries. That way you won't have to sand those big glue bumps off later! Plus, your stain won't sink into the parts that are covered by wood glue.
The corner shelf was the bomb! Kelsey, you are a BOSS with power tools. Love your channel. It is the only channel I have not tired of watching. Your content is so fresh, well edited, and your enthusiasm is infectious. Great job, ladies!
Amanda Katz yes pleeease my cats are getting to big for their cat tree and their floofy little chub tummies are just overflowing all over the place! I would looove to make a huge floor to ceiling cat tree but it’s daunting and I don’t know where to start 😭

Those shelves are great! New take on a corner. Floor corner shelves are problematic with three leg wobbles and weight distribution issues, but this an awesome solution
Produce/market bags are pretty beginner friendly if you do want to learn to crochet. Ravelry is a really great resource for free patterns for a ton of different needle crafts!
you can also opt to add a few of the sheer panels to the lower pvc pipes to add more dimension and coverage .. this would also be fun to do in colors for a childs room
Its one of those items thats good and useful for a lot of shopping, but not for others. So its good for bread and potatoes. Its a good zero waste item because you can make it easily from recycled materials while you save up or research ethical produce bags.
I think you could achieve a similar effect visually while making a more efficient bag if you used thicker string or yarn etc and used more to create smaller gaps between the knots!
FYI wood may shrink after being cut but I have used recycled wood from an old house and 2x4's were actually 2x4. Now the shortage is due to blade width. Each side of the wood loses a blade's width because they aren't allowing the width of the blade in the measurements to cut the boards anymore. Like when you make your own patterns if you cut on the line or outside of the line or inside the line it changes your seam allowance.
I think the canopy would be very pretty with fairy lights around the hoop and lines of lights attached to the curtain. Also maybe glitter tule would be a nice touch. Or little stars and moons attached to the curtains
I am so excited!! I’ve been thinking about a macrame project I could make with the yards-and-yards-and-yards of nylon baling twine we have around the farm. I tried lanyards, bracelets, etc, but it’s too stiff and scratchy. The bags may work well and they’d be hella sturdy. Sometimes, the farmers we buy hay from use natural jute. Those would look really nice.
I just found your channel last night. I've been binge watching. I love the DIYs and make-overs but most of all I love your personalities, you seem so chill.
Given how light that canopy would be I bet it would make a great classroom feature. I know some elementary school teachers get really creative with reading nooks, and I think that could look pretty great. Maybe modified with a smaller rectangle depending on the size of your room. But it looks light enough to hang on the bars between drop ceiling tiles, is why I thought about it.
Love you girls!! I’ve been rewatching your old episodes and your quality and vibe still continues. I never miss your videos, you are my favorite diy inspiration. 🥰🥰
I loved all of these! A nice mix of flexing your power tool skills and low-tech methods. I don't have any power tools but desperately want to make that shelf, it looks so awesome.
I would love to see something on what to do with discarded boxes, for example a shoe box or a puzzle box. Some of then are really nice and sturdy and I would love to figure out a way to upcycle them!

Those are all dope looking and you made it look so easy. I loved that canopy for the bed. It reminded me of one I had when I was a teen only mine was just the circle hoop and had dark purple curtains with a velvet cone top and some beading to look super fancy. That produce bag is super cute and I loved that book shelf thing. It looked complicated but I feel like I could easily tackle it. I can't wait to move into a bigger place and try out more of your DIY's
I'd love to see an episode for making DIYs from things you already have but don't want anymore. For example, a side table you're sick of, an old DIY you don't want anymore, etc. Basically finding a way to make something you want from something you no longer want in your life
I’m so making that last shelving unit and painting it light pink i can use it to store tools and prints for when I do 3d printing. It will be so pastel and fabulous.
a round factory made canopy only cost about $6 in the states at eBay. You could use that and just make the square part, since they do in fact make them closed in
also- instead of making a hole in the curtain to tie the string; why not just tie it in-between the 4 curtain panels (and if you want a proper mosquito net a) then stitch the 4 panels together and b) and Matylda says make sure the top is enclosed
Omg I found this channel today and it reminds me sooo much of the diy channels that I was watching as a kid 😍 those channels have destroyed their content but you haven’t I’m so happy that I finally found a channel like this one

Re: the canopy. You could cross 2 same-length strings across the hula hoop at right angles and then add a short piece to where they intersect to make a hanging loop (geometry for the win).
Yeah and how is this fancier than a crocheted bag? Also why didn't they just use a net? She basically made a net. It would've made it so much easier and quicker.

Those look like the beads my juvenile(delinquent) mixed chihuahua/something long and dotted got out of the bottom of a stuffed animal. @peerli Attias You can buy a mirror and stick those chopsticks at the back of the mirror and hang em on the wall, it will make a cute statement piece. You could even paint the chopsticks in the colour you want, before attaching them at the back of the mirror.
Wood doesn't shrink when cut. They rough cut it at the even sizes and then it's planed down smooth and dried, the sizing ends up smaller. So a rough sawn 2x4 is truly 2x4 but a regular one you usually find is 1.5x3.5.
I’ve got a tip for you. Use 90 proof(or higher if you can find it) rubbing alcohol and it will slide right off. For the produce bag, add some pretty beads that match/coordinate with whatever colour you choose for the handle to the bottom knots! Just add one more knot under the bead to secure and then do the same tassel effect. I think that’d be very cute! Maybe some round wood beads or bigger funky glass beads, chunks of amethyst or other gem ( or a cheaper look alike). Would add to the boho feel and look extra pretty/fancy

Was wondering when another video would be up, and you came through!! haha So perfect that this is uploaded just now hehe. Been loving the whole DIY ideas ever since I thought about redoing my rooms. You guys are allowing me to be creative, thank you!! PLUSS you guys are canadian too! WOOO!
Definitely going to try the shelf!!
That shelf was so cute!
I would have added white pearls to the bag to make it more interesting and a little bit more string to have less void but otherwise love the idea !!
Wow! You two killed it on these! Great job!
I’d be super interested to see you diy your followers diys like something they’ve already made.
Y’all never cease to amaze me!! 😍😍 love the videos!
