Just a heads-up: I feel like folks are missing the part where I mention that this build is almost entirely _brand new,_ save the case: 0:19. No, Origin did NOT ship this system with an incompatible BIOS. The system that was originally in here was removed :-)
You would've 100% ripped into them if they had shipped a new build with wrong bios because that would mean zero testing before the sale. I thought it was fairly clearly a used case
The amazon return policy for computer components and other "tech" products is - 30 days - not the 14 days that you incorrectly stated in this video. Amazon shows the - return window - date for each and every product on the amazon orders page, which eliminates any doubt about the 30 day return policy.
I think we should vote you as HUMAN of the year. Honestly helping others with things that aren't easy to do or cheap to do, it's just awesome to see. Keep it up Greg!
The cable management also helps when he will install a GPU, I imagine it would take up a large chuck on the space where the cables where all bundles up before you tidied it all up!
You're right but does that take time, even in a large case, you have to be so careful with hands, every motion has to be controlled like a monk! You can very easily slip with a simple screwdriver and possibly damage something, and worse when the things flat on the table! The smaller case makes it difficult. Plus I suggest wearing a head light to see in the dark areas of any case🕯️😌

BIOS flashback should really be a staple in all modern boards. recently just built a 5600g system myself and the A520 ITX board I got had it - i was prepared to swap CPU's as I had a system with a 3700x when i bought it, but BIOS flashback saved all that effort. Wasn't even an expensive board. It was $100 - which is cheap for ITX's.
Honestly, I've legit recommended bios flashback to all of my friends. It saved my ass when msi dragon Centre corrupted my bios when I accidentally clicked on the advanced updater (updates bios from inside dragon centre). Since then I think they've fixed it from auto downloading and installing, was still scary since I was my first proper pc build, and didn't realise what advanced update meant.
Actually, if you think about it, it's not a simple fix considering he had to use an older generation cpu and a gpu in order to update the bios. It's the reason the builder had to have Greg fix it, he probably didn't have an older cpu and gpu to do so.
YESSS!!! My uncle recently built my son a PC using an older AMD board with that same card and we were having the same issue. This just saved me such a headache!!
Literally just had this problem when I jumped from a 3000 series to a 5000 series on an X570 board. Thank god for CMOS clear and Bios Flashback buttons!
Nice work Greg! What a simple fix that in practice can be crippling, because the fix requires another CPU! This is why I typically recommend to first time builders to get boards with BIOS Flashback, especially with AMD systems, because of the need to upgrade to newer AGESA versions. It gives you a way to attempt to fix a bad flash. This

You brought to light an interesting thing hobbists--old, new, or in between--NEED to have an 'el cheapo' discreet graphics card in their tool bags. The amount of time saved troubleshooting is worth the investment alone. Often computer TH-camrs will ask about some cheap video card, "Why does this even exist?" Well, now you know. Great job, Greg.
I have this board and flashed the 1.73 beta bios with my 3400G and it works fine. The bios chips on almost every B550 board is 256Mb (32MB) which is twice the size of prior generations of AM4 boards, so there is plenty of room for CPU support. I will test it with the 1.80 bios and 3400G when I get a chance. Thanks for the video!
Very informative Greg, love it, Oh and I just remember one thing, my local asrock distributor told me that to update asrock motherboard bios we need to update it one version above it one by one, so we can't jump to latest bios version, well he said we can but sometimes it can make some issues in the future.
Oh, wow I didn't know that you only have 14 days to get your money back even in case something isn't working correctly. Here in Germany, if something breaks within 2 years, you have a right to have your money back (though after 6 months you must show, that the fault already existed when you bought the item - before that, the seller has to prove the item was completely fine when bought). When shopping Online, you can return the items for any reason (with some exceptions, like open food containers, software licenses, Audio/Video BluRay/DVD/etc) in the first 14 days.
That was my first thought, BIOS. But If I had a 3300 laying around I would of tried that without thinking about it ending support and bricking the motherboard. I might of caught it with the BIOS descriptions but there would of been a change that I miss it. Thank you for the heads up in looking at all factors.
Hello Greg!! I did exactly like you but for a friend. I built he’s pc and it did not boot and I did a research about his motherboard and it did not come out off box compatible! So I grabbed my r5 1600 at home dropped it in he’s pc and booted right up. We installed windows and used a usb flashdrive to flash to the newest bios update. Then when it had done the update we put the r5 5600g in his pc and it booted right up! Works perfect! So I learned some new stuff like flashing bios and updating stuff without youtube help!!
great tip is that pc part picker will actually let you know of motherboards and cpus that do this let alone other incompatibilities its why running your parts list through pc partpicker is an amazing rule of thumb
Whoa good thing the 3400G worked initially on this B550 board. Most B550 boards I see (including my Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite) specifically stated on the box that it is not compatible with 3200G and 3400G. Bios of my board was also on a "1.0" version since the issue I encountered was RAM incompatibility resulting to no post no display too (tested another RAM and it worked). Updating the bios resolved the RAM issue.
This guys should be so thankful you did this. Last Christmas I got a ASUS TUF gaming board to go with my ryzen 9 5900X. The support from amd and asus was brutal, asus was useless said they could flash my BIOS all the did was send me a new board which didn’t fix anything. 2 months later I got a boot kit from AMD but not being able to use my Christmas gift was so frustrating.
Thank you so much for this video Greg! Just built my first PC with a 5600G and had the same issue. Without watching this, I'd probably be swapping cables and displays.
Great video, love the kid cameo too. Sounds like a simple fix but gets complicated and expensive if you have to order another CPU just to fix it. I'm hoping that AMD is really thinking forward with AM5 and has a bigger BIOS chip.
I built my first AMD (5-3600), in Gigabyte Aurous X570.. everything was connected perfectly - but no post. I got that bad sinking feeling.. the online and the box said "compatable out of the box". It was not. I downloaded BIOS on the other computer, and flashed it. Luckily the X570 has the USB slot for BIOS and the "update button" on the board. Still, pretty unnerving, since doing it wrong could brick it. Nice video. I would have liked to see you include the actual flash process, not just "well I did it". I really enjoy your troubleshooting videos.
We already have a detailed video discussing this process, so it'd be quite redundant (we even referenced it in this video and mentioned that it was in this description Lol).
Just a heads-up: I feel like folks are missing the part where I mention that this build is almost entirely _brand new,_ save the case: 0:19. No, Origin did NOT ship this system with an incompatible BIOS. The system that was originally in here was removed :-)

Yea hey its my pc lol, I did buy this case off a friend a little while ago and got the parts separately
10:39 ... If it's a brand new build in a reused case, why did it flash the Origin logo????

Fix or Flop series is best series! Keep it up greg!
2 months later I got a boot kit from AMD but not being able to use my Christmas gift was so frustrating.
amazing series always waiting for the next
That Ohhhh Yeahh! at 12:29 is just great
I love this series!! Soon as I see the notification I watch.
Dude, I really love this man!
Going through these to see which ones I've missed or skipped. So far this is the 3rd one.
thanks for showing the perfect use case for the GT710. anyone that troubleshoots PCs should keep one to hand.
some people just need to check things first, but thats why we have you to remind people how to do this correctly.
I remember encountering this on my B550 when I upgraded from the 1600 to 5600X.
Thank goodness I had my 1600 to help with that.
Wish there was someone like you in the UK to figure out my issue
Thank you so much for this video Greg! Just built my first PC with a 5600G and had the same issue. Without watching this, I'd probably be swapping cables and displays.
Great job! Look forward to more of these.
Great video, love the kid cameo too. Sounds like a simple fix but gets complicated and expensive if you have to order another CPU just to fix it. I'm hoping that AMD is really thinking forward with AM5 and has a bigger BIOS chip.
Amazing video mate good job fixing it 👍
These videos are informative, I love them. Keep it up :)
That was a nerve-wrackingly long time for the new bios boot. Good job!
it was tense. I felt with you.
@@GregSalazar Thank you and I missed it new to your channel so I'll go look
