As a note, there are some other ways to improve black levels on a projector, other than wall colour etc. Typically via lowering the overall brightness level of the projected image(often not a problem, as modern projectors are typically very bright & with high contrast) eg: grey screen, &/or a neutral density filter in front of the projector. So a grey 'black' projected image becomes darker, it also reduces the brightness of the rest of the image, but as before it often isn't an issue. A grey screen also reduces washout from reflected light.

AI upscaling can do wonders even with that. Properly encoded DVDs don't even have blatant compression artifacts unlike VCDs. AI upscaling to 4K will have a field day with them.
@@nando03012009 Everything is scaled to the native resolution of digital displays(basically all displays used now), so yes it will be scaled to 8k. Scaling doesn't improve the image quality though, albeit some effects(sharpening etc) may be applied which might improve it somewhat in some cases.

I was heavy into projection for years but oled finally won me over. Got rid of the optima 4k and switched to a c9 last year and couldnt be happier. Sometimes I do miss huge screens for party games and racing games but I have a odyssey for that and its just fine oled for movies odyssey for games and aw2521h for esports...... Man if I could sacrifice the luxuries I may someday be out of my apartment lol......but once you own oled you cant go back and same with high refresh gaming. I love my consoles but if its available on PC its just a whole nother experience

Yeah, like Linus said, there's a point where having a big TV makes no difference because you're just changing the distance between you and the display to achieve the same viewing angle. This is too small to be a feasible home cinema, and too big to be a reasonable, regular television...
