    Hello, JonJon sent me here. I'll be running a live game of Red over Discord soon. I was feeling rusty since I've been running other systems for the a few months.
    This vid is solid. Your methods are flat out useful and clearly presented. Above and beyond that, this is a great refresher for me. I can feel the dust being shaken off.

    I'd love to play a proper game of Cyberpunk.
    Last year while doing fully remote with my group, I ran a cyberpunk game, but not in the eponymous system. I ran it in Fate. Because reason. Partly a time-crunch thing where I didn't have time to order, and then learn the cyberpunk system (or decide on which version, though RED would probably be the one I'd have gone with).
    It _was_ a lot of fun... and also kind of alarming how much of the cyberpunk setting was uncomfortably close to our real world. Though I did try to throw in some fun bits by including some elements from the old Mega Man games (and the concept albums of The Protomen) with a gritty pastiche. It was an enjoyable game.
    Though in hindsight I'd want to do more prep for it -- either properly running such a game in *Cyberpunk RED* or *The Veil* or *Hack The Planet* -- or if I'd taken the time to properly customize an implementation of FATE that better fit the themes and tones of Cyberpunk. What I did was _fine_ but certainly could have been far better. I was way too lax on hacking, some skills were unnecessary, and I let one player really abuse his "nanotech implant" that essentially became all purpose robot-magic in a way that seriously undercut the cyberpunk feel and message.

      @XPLovecat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh it's absolutely alarming how close things are to our world, it seems like a perfectly likely future which is terrifying! I hope you do get the chance to delve into the system, I'm having quite a bit of fun with it and the lore.

    i use a mildly modded 3 goon method from Jonjon the wise.
    basically all my goons dice pools are one of 3 stats. stuff they are good at, stuff they are fine at and stuff they suck at.
    then i give them appropriate armour values and HP (again depending on easy, medium or hard)
    then i give them weapons that make sense. an easy goon will probably have a1 or 2d6 weapon. medium goons will have 2 or 3d6 weapons and hard goons can have whatever they want, they got the experience to have whatever.
    add cyberware depending on who they are and done. honestly most of the time dont worry about the cyberware unless its important to the job or you just think it fits the character in a cool way.
    so my goons are flavoured by equipment but statted by difficulty and i have a bunch of premade items sets for themed NPCs. and the rulebook tells you what a lot of potential enemies have in the encounter chart, i just wrote them all down on an east to read doc

    Thanks CP LoveChrome!
    This was really in depth for creating mooks. I guess RTG didn't want to fill the book with pages and pages of mooks - they are mooks and fairly generic.
    I like Carl.
    And what you were doing was almost making Carl into a NPC. Which is fine.
    Thanks for the content.

    Nice video! I GM online using Foundry VTT and I took the time to set up the mooks from the book as templates, then modify their stats and pictures to fit the situation. For major NPCs I stat them similarly to PCs using whatever role fits best. If I played in person it would definitely be easier to use a simplified combat/social number system like in the video.

    • @XPLovecat
      @XPLovecat  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In general do you have a good experience with Foundry? My go to is normally Roll20. Thanks for watching!

    • @Scorpidactyl
      @Scorpidactyl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@XPLovecat I only briefly used Roll20 (for D&D) but I like Foundry much better, and the Cyberpunk Red Core game system for it is really good. Foundry isn't 100% free to use for the GM however.
