I ran this as the cap for a Pulp Cthulhu campaign that started with Angel's Thirst from the Cults of Cthulhu book, so I moved the island to one of the Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California. This upped the stakes considerably (saving Los Angeles) and gave them some good satisfaction after they, uh, flubbed the initial scenario leading to lots of destruction.

I love using historic events in my games. Local to me in Washington D.C., there was a blizzard in 1922 where a theater's roof collapsed with a bunch of people in it. I used that event during the climax of a scenario I ran.
