Javanese is a language, just not an official language. If you consider Hiligaynon/Ilonggo to be a language, the same should be said for Javanese as well.

nice, but i feel ur a bit overbearing at times, like ur talkiing really fast and just basically saying anything and everything that comes to ur mind and never pausing, not really paying attention to what _they_ are telling u. for example sometimes ur like "oh hi i can speak (language), what part of (country) r u from, i really want to go to (country) as well and i want to try out (food), the weather is so nice today i really want to keep talking to other people, actually i want to practice speaking in (language) with u more before i go" all without pausing. u could actually try and learn some language more in depth insteead of focusing on 29 languages all at once.

@@paholainen100 exactly! he could do a lot better. his conversations are wayyyy too one sided, its like he's practicing talking to himself in front of a mirror or something instead of an actual conversation with someone, and a lot of the time what he says isn't even correct. I know because I speak mandarin and his mandarin is relatively intelligible, like he gets the message across, but overall still needs work. Idk, I might be totally wrong, but I feel like he tries to dominate conversations because he only wants to discuss topics that he actually _knows_ how to speak and doesn't want people to ask him something he doesn't know how to say yet, and he speaks fast so it seems like he knows a lot. but who knows if he's actually saying everything correctly or not, most people don't want to be rude, and out of politeness, aren't willing to correct him on the spot like that. as long as he gets the basic message across, they praise him.
@@dbuc4671 agreed. I like the point about only saying things that he is able to talk about. He doesn’t seem to allow questions in. This kind of style doesn’t impress me anymore. I prefer longer videos speaking in one or two languages in order to demonstrate quality and depth in language. That’s what I’m trying to do. What country are you from ? Is mandarin your native language ?

Wouter, make a collaboration with Q's Greenland: travel to Nuuk and learn some sentences in Inuit language. Very few polyglots have done that.

Guys in the video when he realized they were speaking Javanese, he never said it was a dialect he corrected their notion of it being a dialect as it was a language. But its they only get payed if he doesnt speak it and hes previously shown to at least speak Javanese a bit.
Also that's pretty solid Latin, so quit saying the guy barely can speak it. Latin is barely spoken anymore, to speak that much is not bad.

actully is not the dialect of Indonesian, it its own languange called Javanese, the 11th largest speakers in the world. The largest unofficial language in the world. Even we have our own script.

Speaking Latin is a meme. Just like Hebrew. Speaking them went extinct a long time ago. Anyone trying nowadays is a poser.
You can delete my comments all you want but what I said about hebrew is true. Medieval Rabbis used the ancient hebrew alphabet but completely made up a new language around it. Hebrew was long extinct before then. Same goes for Latin, catholic priests are mumbling nonsense.
The words were correct, but he had a very heavy Spanish accent on his Latin, I could tell Spanish was his native language immediately

That Chinese lady was very ill-mannered. "I also don't like that I can't have 50 Euros". Sure, she doesn't have engage in a lengthy conversation but there are more polite ways to exit out of a conversation. She even seemed disappointed that he spoke Chinese which is also very unusual behaviour. Do better.
She did politely exit out of the conversation. She didn't immediately walk away. She only got upset because she realized that she couldn't win the 50 euros because he knew Chinese.
I think if she spoke with a different dialect she could have won the 50 euros.

I speak a bit Turkish. I speak a bit Turkish but I am Dutch. Yes.
Wouter, your Turkish never passed simple sentences. The translation is not even correct. And your sentence structure is very basic and it is not like how Turkish people speak Turkish. It’s like you would speak English with Turkish words. 50% of Turkish is grammar. So your way of learning words does not help much.

@evakalikova4096 different things can be important in communication. And Wouter is mainly interested in the ice breaker. I.e. “I can say something in your language”. It’s not bad to know a few words and phrases in some languages. It’s actually quite fun. But there is still much room for improvement.
Myself, I’m very interested in languages.
I learn words and phrases in many languages because I enjoy it. But it takes time and effort to take a language beyond basic greetings and simple words.
Languages are also related to each other. Swedish, Norwegian and Danish are very closely related to each other. I can speak Swedish in Denmark and Norway and they understand me. I can understand them as well in most cases. To understand people I don’t need to learn much more than that. I can practice some of the vocabulary that is specific for danish and norwegian, but it’s not necessary.
English has almost the same grammar.
So learning English in Sweden is easy. It’s just about vocabulary and many words are already closely connected. Same goes for German, another Germanic language. The grammar is a bit different. But words are very similar. Germanic languages have been exposed to Latin languages during a long time in recent history. That makes many words easily understood. But it’s not like the Germanic languages. The way of speech is different and also the word flow and spelling is different from Germanic languages.
Then comes a variety of other languages. Turkish happens to be the languages I know the best from other language families. And Turkish languages structure their sentences much different from the ones already mentioned. Words change depending on the person you refer to. Verbs end up last in the sentence. Because there are many affixes to Turkish words, you most often omit pronouns in sentences. Wouter very often start Turkish sentences with the word for “I”. But besides it’s repetitive it is also not necessary and even sounds strange. If it’s you who is doing something, this will show as an affix on the verb so we don’t need to say it several times.
In many languages Wouters skills exceeds my own. But I see his supposed Swedish and see it’s just a development of his supposed danish. It’s the pronunciation that distinguishes these two. But his pronunciation is not good for either of the two.
In Turkish, his skills are so limited that he can have some 15-30 second talks. He can say he speaks some, that Turkish is difficult and that he wants to travel to Turkey. He can hardly understand questions. He cannot express easy things that an A1 speaker would be able to do.
Several of the languages in his videos are languages he can cross over to in a few seconds or minutes, but he cannot use them for a longer time. He cannot make 29 10-minute videos where he speaks every individual language freely. Even the variation of topics will be difficult for him. He speaks about languages and food in his videos. He has started to use topics like exercise for variations. And he seems to use animals as a joke.
Crabs, dogs and ducks can be part of absurd sentences as easy jokes.
He has put much time to languages. But he could also put effort to speak longer for example if he wanted to get something out of a conversation more than taking to new people. During the years I’ve watched his videos he has not improved most of his languages. His focus has been on the number of languages. The more languages he tries to speak the harder it becomes to maintain the ones he already lists as languages he “speaks”. Maybe that’s why 29 languages seems like a limit to him. Not many languages improve. He focuses even more on the gimmick of speaking in many languages together with challenges. The videos are easy to watch. But the communication he makes has very little content. He used to go to restaurants and eat there and speak languages. In a recent video he just went to restaurants and spoke some languages. Then he returned to his normal life. Maybe his motivation is gone.
