What? No Quad-sleeving? I come here for the latest and greatest innovations in cardboard and cardboard accessories. Hell, it's even backwards compatible with double-sleeved cards. edit: I should mention, I have been experimenting in card-sleeving/lamination technologies. The tech isn't quite there yet, but with enough grants, I think we can get there!
Where can I find your Sliver EDH Deck list that you seem to be sleeving here?? Thanks Prof for all your amazing content! Using your videos to build three commander decks right now
I actually quad-sleeve my Commander decks. I use a regular penny-sleeve, then a clear Dragon Shield, then I use a laminator to completely seal the card, then I place the whole thing in an acrylic PSA Holder Case. The deck is about 33" tall when stacked up, which really adds to the intimidation factor. I use a few suitcases and a Sherpa to haul my decks to and from the LGS.
Oh man, I've missed this kind of content. I'm so happy that Wizards actually went long enough without releasing a new product or screwing something up for the Professor to make his first ordinary video in, what, seven years?
Dude, I have missed this type of content on the channel for a while now even if this one in particular might be satire(makes it even better honestly). I used to rewatch the sleeve and deck box reviews all the time. Only thing missing is the durability tear test. Wish you the best in the future to you and your team, Prof.
The value i find with outer sleeves is not that you can triple sleeve your stuff, but it allows you to play card sleeves with pictures on the back of them that are usually peel-ey
Then you'll be looked down upon for only triple sleeving your cards. "You triple sleeve? Do you even care about your cards? God, I can't watch you play with those triple sleeved cards"
We play magic around 6 hours a week, always in the pub. I can confirm when someone spills a pint next to a single, or even a double, sleeved deck, there is anger. Triple sleeve is exactly the solution we've been looking for!
I'm more of the opinion that sealable inners in a double sleeve setup is enough to go by, but I do understand there's a place for triple sleeving too. Not everyone can get sealables and some also want to protect their normal sleeves. Plus, it can add that sense of security if the effort and cost is worth it to you. I have to wonder though. Does a spilled drink immediately mean the outer sleeve is getting replaced, or are they all good when they've dried out?
@@Magicannon_ I use sealed inners on stuff like mana crypts, mix diamonds, duals etc. Outers are usually ok if you get some paper towels and dry them off straight away, worse result is just a bit sticky and can clean that.
@@igormorgado - The extra layer of sleeves isn't to protect the sleeves, it's to protect the card. If you spill water on some single-sleeved cards, the liquid can still get into the top/open edge of the sleeve. Most of the card will be protected, but the top edge will still get water damaged. If it's double sleeved, that top edge of the card is protected from the liquid which now would have to seep all the way to the bottom of the card to reach the gap before it would damage the bottom edge of the card. The sealable inner sleeves protect the bottom edge as well, but still have a little gap on the bottom corners. Triple sleeving seems like overkill, but at least from what I can tell this video is more or less a joke (a dry, _dry_ joke), although, this is a real product, so at least someone doesn't thing so, lol.
@@tymenvanessen3119 I never thought about double sleeving upside down and I hate dust falling in my sleeves. Now I have to go home and flip a few hundred sleeves around.
One of the best videos I have ever seen. I was going to ask about that strange green contraption you had, but you wove that in flawlessly. I also love the understated anouncement of The Academic. Bravo, my friend, bravo.
With how thorough the Professor is with sleeving, I kind of had hoped for the full stairway to protection heaven: A size comparison of an unsleeved commander deck, up to a triple sleeved one. Also please give me a call once we have options for quintuple sleeving, and the decks become as tall as a small child, or a medium sized dog. This way I can do my daily stretching routine while also enjoying a game of magic.
"Also please give me a call once we have options for quintuple sleeving" These sleeves don't look much bigger than the regular outer sleeves... I wonder if they'd fit in penny sleeves? And once you're in penny sleeves, you can fit that in a toploader.
I love how Professor is trying to be extra dry on top of what his older videos were, and it's cracking him up. Spot on mix of knowledge and entertainment.
Just found jace the mind sculptor sleeves so i need to triple sleeve my foil dimir shadow deck... But idk if my 80+ sidewinder deck box is gonna be able to hold it lol... Ima try it tho.

So thanks !
Character Guards, right? I have mine too for my Tymna&Tana. I wonder why they sell the packages with specifically 60 sleeves. All of the illustrated sleeves sold on Comiket are also on 60 sleeves...
YOOOOO a fellow Prossh player!! I finally picked up the single Meathook I needed for mine, and I can 100% understand why that needs a triple sleeve, bahahaha!!
Yo prof, to shuffle a large triple sleeved deck like that, try cutting it into two piles. You then briefly shuffle each pile (maybe 3 shuffles), cut each pile in two to make four small piles, then create two new piles from those four and briefly shuffle again. Each. Card should be able to be in any position in the deck when you do this. I usually shuffle my single sleeved commander deck this way early on when its large.
My favorite part was the touch where Prof points to the right of the video for the Double Sleeved video only to have it, of course, pop up on the left. Perfection.
