  • It is that time again to grease up the 4Runner. A ritual every Yota with a proper 4x4 drivetrain should periodically undergo. In this video I walk through all of the significant points that should be greased every 12,000 - 24,000 km or so. The points include the upper and lower ball joints, prop shaft spiders (U-Joints), prop shaft sliding yokes, double cardan joints, and inner tie rods.

    This is a very good video. Nice and to the point. I found it easy to follow have added it to my notes for when I finally get time to show my 91 Runner the love she deserves.

    Nicely done! I've got the same grease gun! The rubber extension is handy.

      Very handy! Not bad for a crappy tire gun too.

      Haha thanks! Glad it helped. I feel so many vehicles go an entire lifetime without getting greased and just a little bit goes a long way! Cheers!

      @@roughcutsgarage So you used MP grease on all the points? I can't seem to find info in the manual about what type of grease to use, found that the 3rd gens are using MP on some points and Moly grease on others.

      @@Dilomski I just used the same grease on all the points. I haven't looked into different greases for different points to be honest.

      Hey thanks and that's dope! We lucked out but I did a 3 stage cut and polish after we replaced the rear doors. I usually wash and wax our vehicles as often as I can. I love the red on these things.

    What ball joints did you get? I'm looking for some greasable ones. how are they holding up?

    • @roughcutsgarage
      @roughcutsgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We did them a while ago and I can't remember which brand exactly. I think they are possibly NAPA ones. They are holding up after 2 years but I can't recommend them since during installation a few bolts came close to stripping and the fitment isn't the best.

    in the beginning you're supposed to grease those balljoints until the rubber boot pops off, ask me how i know

    • @roughcutsgarage
      @roughcutsgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the rubber boot pops off, I'm pretty sure you should put it back on to keep the dust out.
