I got my '06 4Runner back in June, and just got a 3 ton rapid jack for Christmas. This video told me exactly what I needed to know to properly put the new tool to the truck. Thank you!
Thank you. Much appreciated. Straightforward, concise, and excellent illustrations. You're a really good teacher. You seem like a down-to-earth dude who's sharing valuable knowledge. I'm working on my '04 Tacoma and this gives me more confidence/reassurance. Especially because I do all the work by myself.☮️
This is the first video I've actually seen like this so I definitely appreciate it. Jacking up my truck always seems sketch to me but this video gives me more confidence. Thanks man!
It’s in my manual hub video. There’s not much to know other than cutting the shield and buying 13WL and having compatible wheels. Check out the manual hub video since I had to cut the dust shield to make it fit
Great video, I have a 2022 Tacoma, and have been concerned about finding the best points to jack it up from. I wish Toyota would mark the jacking points so it is clear which places are the best in terms of safety, and not harming the vehicle. Thanks -
Check that manual! I’m sure it’s listed. Some new cars have symbols on them but might be hard to spot unfortunately. All these body in frame trucks are similar so my video will apply
All your videos and teaching are spot on ! Thanks for all the good advice, ready to start tackling suspension on my 03 runner , thanks for all the videos friend !!
On my previous car, I got away with a 2Ton jack. But even for a stock 4Runner, the floor jack needs to be higher. I ended up getting a H/F 3Ton rapid pump 19 3/4” height floor jack. Very important video! Always safety first.
2ton should be ok if you're lifting just 1 side. Maybe not the front / back (half the weight). Should technically be rated for it but a lot more is better than less.
I was told to never jack up any vehicle where it pivots moves ect. Like a lower control arm. Always somewhere like a frame. But thanks for the video. I got 5 years to pay off my 4 runner and start doing fun stuff to it.
Great video. How often should I rotate my tires. My 2020 Trd off road has about 70 k on it. I think it’s time but all the threat on the tires seem all equal- on the Goodrich k02’s. I usually towed 4500 lbs in the summer on and off with a 🚤.
Thank you for this, it was very helpful! I remember when I installed a 3-inch lift on my 3rd gen because I had to figure out how I was going to get the dang thing off the ground again.
Thanks for the informational video. About to replace pads and rotors on my 4runner and was wondering what would be the best place to use the Jack at. The frame seems like it’s really far away from the control arm and brakes themselves but I do think that’s the best place to lift it. I was curious about the control arm but it does look sketchy to lift from there.
I really appreciate this video. I don't have the owner's manual (wasn't available when I bought it used) so I had no idea other than the lower control arm where to lift from. Can you tell me where I can get a copy of that diagram you showed?
@@PhoRunner thank you for your fast reply. I want to ask you one more question. What type of jack do you recommend to replace the original one? A 6 Ton duralast bottle jack is too much? Or a small floor jack is too big to have it in the suv?
Thanks for the video as this morning I was having hard time looking for a safe spot to lift my 98 4Runner. One question I notice the red shackle attached to your hitch. Can you reply with info as I've been looking for one. Thanks! :)
here's a couple: www.amazon.com/USA-Receiver-Accessories-Rhino-Receivers/dp/B06WLMF23C www.amazon.com/Motormic-Shackle-Receiver-Trailer-Capacity Just search hitch shackle on amazon
Great work man. I really appreciate your videos and the detailed and technical explanations you provide. I have consulted your channel more and more now that I am wrenching on my 3rd gen. Keep it up. Stay safe and have fun. Cheers!
I have a 4runner as well. When you say it's safe to jack up the front lower control arm, how come it wasn't in the service manual jack points? Also 4runner have front independent suspension. Is it possible to have front diff lock? I'm wanting to get aftermarket ARB front diff lock, don't know if it's possible.
It’s not there because the bottle jack can’t really be used to lift it. A floor hack can lift it there. Also under where the control arm mounts can be used also.
yes it is. Probably 2" or 1.75" with all the extra weight! It's on OME 881 (2nd lowest perch) and OME 906. tires at 265/70/17. Maybe i'll do a walkaround video! Thanks for watching!
Hey I accidentally jacked it up from the center of the cross member that supports the transmission, rather than the cross member near the front axel. Did I do any damage? Seems to drive normal and no leaks.
I just hate how my 3 ton jack stand dont let me set mine on the frame. I need to install a lift tomorrow and I have no idea on how im gonna do the rear I guess im gonna send it and pray I dont die.
"After making this video...I will probably use this spot now" Why are you changing lifting positions in the front from the side rail to the cross member that you thought was weak?
Great detail on this video thank you!
Glad it was helpful!!

No problem!!
3rd gen and 4th gen have similar lift and support points
Super underrated channel. Your videos are great! You're teaching me and inspiring me a lot with working on my 97 4Runner. Thanks!
thanks man. more videos coming when i get a chance to edit some! Just doing this for fun.
@@PhoRunner very underrated, thank you!!
two years later and it still helped me so much appreciate your content

Clearly the most easy step-by-step and helpful video on how to jack Your 4x4. Thanks!
Thanks!!
Bro upgrading to a 4x4 was a major step up! Save up awhile and score that 4x6 and you’ll be loving the difference. 💕 ❤
Ok

Nice!!! Take that lower balljoint off for an easier time on that generation! (If installing a lift)

I see the tire shops jack under the arm all the time
Yeah. Personally I would never lift there.

Hmm usually every oil change but if it’s working as is then so be it!
Thank you for this, it was very helpful! I remember when I installed a 3-inch lift on my 3rd gen because I had to figure out how I was going to get the dang thing off the ground again.

Should be ok. I do it sometimes but make sure to put the jack under the frame
Informative video and all the jack points translate over to a 5th gen 4runner as well. thanks.
Indeed!
Thanks for that. I'll be putting my snows on for the 1st time today.
Anytime
Exactly what I needed, thanks so much for making this!
You are welcome!
Nice work. Thank you for creating/sharing!
Great video. Working on brakes and suspension soon. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
This is exactly what I was looking for. I was also wondering where you got your tow hitch from or what kind it is
It’s a hidden hitch and I’m sure etrailer or Amazon sells it. Mine came with it from previous owners. I do like that it sits higher than the oem one
Man that was fantastic. Great detail
No problem!!! I forgot about some of these spots myself but definitely all safe to use for lifting
Love that extended length megwarrior… blows my mind that everyone doesn’t do that! Hows that extended rack worked for you?
Extended rack has been great!!! Working like it should all these years
When replacing a flat with the spare tire, where should we position/mount the the little sturdy Jack included with the car?
The diagram shows the spots for that little jack. Check it out again.
@@PhoRunner I was referring to the hi-lift jack that comes with the car for servicing a flat tire. I’ll check again. Thanks
Yah. The little bottle jack that comes with the vehicle applies to this video
What size tires you got on there?
I really appreciate this video. I don't have the owner's manual (wasn't available when I bought it used) so I had no idea other than the lower control arm where to lift from. Can you tell me where I can get a copy of that diagram you showed?
LilGoat 02 check online for factory service manual downloads or join 3rd gen 4runner Facebook group. There’s a link in there somewhere.
Really useful video. Just wondering what kind of roof rack you have and how you installed it. Thanks!
I have another video on my channel about it. It’s a rola rack
Superb vlog, Stick to the fantastic job. Thanks a lot!
Can a 2 ton jack lift a 1999 2WD 4runner with all terrain tires 265/75/16?
Sure can. Just stay safe as I'd trust a 3 ton more. 2ton should be ok to lift half the vehicle. Make sure to use jack stands though!!!
@@PhoRunner thank you for your fast reply. I want to ask you one more question. What type of jack do you recommend to replace the original one? A 6 Ton duralast bottle jack is too much? Or a small floor jack is too big to have it in the suv?
The bottle jack should work just fine! I wouldn’t carry a floornjack in the vehicle as it might get thrown around and could be deadly in an accident
Thank you for the information
No problem!
Awesome video, thanks for putting it together!
No problem!
Could you make a video using a bottle jack instead? Maybe showing what size you recommend (4,5,6,8 Tons) and the best points to do so?
Idk if I missed it but did you mention why you have a set of 6 ton jack stands and a set of 3 ton jack stands?
Yes I have both. 3 ton is fine but can lock some height if vehicle is tall

Please be safe bud. Use your bottle jack and some wood blocks if you need to. And floor jack
Is a 2.5 ton Jack enough for a 4Runner?
I wouldn’t but it could be used in the rear. I use 3 tons in the rear all the time.
Looks like my 2002 Toyota Sequoia Limited have the same jack points...
Indeed!
Excellent tips
No problem!!
Awesome vid. Thanks a bunch!
muy bueno, gracias

Gracias crack, saludos desde Argentina! Abz.
Get a piece of rubber... like a hockey puck. so you don't have metal on metal contact. That'll cause rust over time.
good tip. Lost the pad it came with :(
Thanks! Subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
Thanks for doing this!
My pleasure!!
thanks perfect!
:)
Good stuff, man..
Excellent subbed
I like ur UT 😂
Thanks
"After making this video...I will probably use this spot now" Why are you changing lifting positions in the front from the side rail to the cross member that you thought was weak?
the cross member just "looks weaker but it's actually an official jack point by Toyota so that's why i'm using it.
No 4RUNNER'S were harmed in the making of this video.
Myself? I will use the frame and or the differential.
Don’t lift it from the control arm …..😂…. There’s plenty of frame to work with so why ….
Sometimes you need the extra height and the control arm is lower than the frame
That frame is in good condition lol
It had a lot of surface rust lol.
Si they official Torque is 83 lbs ft? I have BF Goodrich all terrain tires 175-65 R16 should I use 83lbs or lime you 85?
82-85 should be fine. There room for error. I do 90 now since I got big tires
@@PhoRunner thank so much! Another question about the sacurity lug nut I was told not to tight it as much as the regulars…
@seselapaz just tighten it last the same torque
Great video. Thanks for sharing it!
