I was at the Amelia Island Concours in Florida 6 or 7 years ago with my son. My son was 16 at the time. I am standing there looking at a Porsche Boxster with my son and I turn to my left and their was Magnus standing there. I had watched Urban Outlaw over and over for many years before that day. I know who Magnus Walker was because of the film. Urban Outlaw was an inspiration. Magnus was just standing there alone. I reached out to say hi not really knowing the man. Let me tell you, he was a very genuine person. Extremely cordial and easy to engage. We spoke for a moment about cars and passion for Porsche. The most memorable part for me was how he turned the conversation to my son. He wanted to engage my son in discuss and treated him with great respect as a younger car guy. I will never forget the kindness he showed to my son. Thank you Magnus.
Magnus: "you did your homework" As soon as he knew Nicole understands the technical details of how cars work, Magnus really started to unleash the passion. I feel lucky to experience Nicole Johnson's Detour because the guests she highlights really do take center stage. Nicole puts the research in to let the guests shine and the channel appeal to the viewers. Thanks Nicole!
Agreed... I have gotten way behind on these and now need to go back and catch about! Regarding Magnus, it shows the passion that he has a garage like that and yet knows more specs about the car than I did about my built 4th gen Prelude as an enthusiastic 22 year old. He's constantly rattling off stats, not only about the custom car, but general Porsche stats, etc... Pretty damn impressive!
Magnus Walker, a magnanimous personality, an embodiment of pure passion, genuine empathy, and unbound humility. I felt like he somehow managed to give all those attributes to his 277 Porsche 911T. What a person and what a car! This is the best TH-cam video that I have watched in a long time. Thank you, Ms. Johnsson, for this amazing interview.
@Johnny-tt8zc I agree. I’ve tried to get every car person I know to check out Nicole’s channel. She deserves the support of the automotive community. The cool thing too is that she’s the same gal in person as she seems to be on the episodes. Exuberant, intelligent, engaging, knowledgeable… the whole enchilada. And that smile!
Nicole, you are the "real deal", not some poseur. Knowledgeable, very competent driver, good interviewer, and you understand how to handle yourself in front of a camera and make sure the guest is the center of attention. I upvoted and subscribed in the middle of the very first of your videos I came across, the one about the lunatic who cut his MGB in half so he could put in a V-8 engine. Keep up the good work!
I LOVE Magnus' position: "It's my car, I do what I want with it." EXACTLY as anyone who wants to modify any car should feel. And OMG, he understands the technical aspects of the cars so well! I love that stuff, as a frustrated, wannabe engineer.
Another incredible episode Nicole, thank you so much for bringing this to us. Magnus is truly his own man and I respect his willingness to build his cars HIS way. I love original cars, radically customized cars, and everything in between. I’m inspired by people and cars that represent their taste and passion, whatever that may be. Magnus and his cars are perfect examples of that. Oh, and you got the shoes!!! How cool is that???
I was at 24hrs of Le Mans in 2017 with a buddy, talking about 911’s over breakfast and I mentioned “you need to check out Magnus Walker” and I show him a snippet of the Outlaw video… 20 minutes later near the Dunlop bridge in the crowd my buddy goes “hey, isn’t that the dude from that video??” … sure enough it was Magnus standing right behind me. We chatted for a while and he is the nicest guy! Great to see his enthusiasm hasn't wained 🎉
There are lots of great automotive channels on youtube, but Nicole's vids are always one-of-a-kind magic, you just don't get this same content anywhere else.
Always fun to see two high-energy and positive people go full gearhead talking about their love for cars. Magnus' collection is awesome. Dude comes across as 100% genuine. That 277 looked like so much fun to drive. But, inquiring viewers want to know: did you get to keep the shoes? 😁😁
Nicole - I can't believe how you were able to conduct such a great interview and say so little in the process. Magnus is truly a force of nature and I love his creativity. Nice left foot braking by the way.
What a motor. What a dude. Homegrown from a town with a great pub music scene and a decent pint. And knows his shit. Go on brother!. Well done lass!. Nice pumps (sneakers) ❤
YESS! I've been so excited for this video ever since you mentioned it over on the Audrain channel! As a Porsche "enthusiast"-lol- I never understood the poo-pooing of personalization. Porsche racing is all about trying new things. People hated the 996 headlights...even though they were directly from the GT1, etc. I really appreciate getting to see more of Magnus' transaxle and 914, 928, etc collection. I REALLY wanted to name my son Magnus but my wife wouldnt budge. Thanks again, Nicole!
I love how passionate Magnus is. He literally rememberers every spec , size, measurement, era, and nuance of his cars. A true enthusiast who became successful because of this reason. Loved it!
Thoroughly enjoyed the video, which was pin sharp with so many camera angles of the car. Magnus was running on Nitrus, full of exuberance and passion for his cars. Lovely touch giving you those Nike shoes 👌Loved to dog too.

This was a fantastic Magnus interview. Most of the other ones, especially podcast ones, feel very repetitive and it was awesome to hear you two discuss technical details. As someone who designs stuff all day it was refreshing to hear what was going through his head with certain design details. The man doesn't get enough credit for his design details and how it was mainly him who introduced restomod Porsche 911s to the masses.

You are a Real Character Nicole..... But I think you have met your match with Magnus.... He is a real Yorkshire man... Just like ME.......... What an amazing story he has... Fantastic video as ever...... :-)) xxxxx
I love the expression & the freeze frame moment as Nicole steps into the main garage space... I had similar pause after I rehabed a former retail building for the owners to store their 956,960, Carrera 4, Carrera 6, 912, 928's production # 1-2 & 4, 300 Sl, early 70's Alfa Romeo cabrio & a few other jaw dropping classics..
Nicole, you have one of, if not THE best channel for gearheads. These videos so perfectly capture the spirit of it like nothing I've ever seen. I absolutely love it.
Holy Shit!!..I remember Magnus. I lived on Westminster, between Ocean/Pacific from 90-93. I spent a ton of time on the boardwalk and in the shops on Ocean, weekly. What an awesome story, true passion. Nicely done, Nicole!! OPP..;-)) The hat looks good too!!
What a Lucky Guy... To have this Natural Magnetism attracting Success, Friendships, Loves for cars, and all from a Hobbiest's point of view. Just like being a happy child every day. Like the excitement of a lad opening up a model car box for the first time.
Wow! Magnus REALLY knows his stuff when it comes to Porshe, doesn't he? Great episode, Nicole. I feel like there could be a Part II where you wander around his garage checking out all those great cars!
I just love him. Have had a chance to meet him twice, and he is always gracious and loves to chat about cars. He's a really down to earth guy. I haven't figured out the secret sauce to making my SC sound anything like his 277, but some day I will.

What a top bloke. I feel like I've known Magnus my whole life. I reckon him and me would get along like old time buddies because my dad is a Porsche specialist so I grew up around these things during my childhood and also other cars.
Wow, and I almost missed this episode. A wonderful collection. The modifications are so well done. Cars from when driving required driver input and full attention.
Enjoyed that, more insight into the Urban Outllaw than virtually any other interview I have seen. You got to the source of the passion of the man, the brand and the car.

absolutely epic. lots of people have interviewed magnus but nicole, you actually seemed interested. and magnus' description of the 277 car - suspension, gearbox, etc - while you were driving it was fantastic. well done.
Great interview with Magnus. He's even cooler in person. I was really amazed how much You knew Nicole about alignment and suspension, also how you used your left foot for braking. Great driving!

Wow. Great video. Magnus is amazing. He loves to talk. He really knows his Porsches! I think our paths have crossed before. I like your down shifts. The 277 is awesome. It looks way fun to drive. In Magnus case he may have a Porsche for every canyon. The one thing that stays with me is Magnus is surrounded by the things he loves. Dogs, architecture, fast cars. I am sure there are more.
Cool video! And cool to see the area I grew up in. When that 6th St bridge opened in July of 2022 the first months were chaos😂 people were going on top of the arches, some guy did a burnout, crashed into a car then jumped of the bridge with a parachute. It got so crazy they closed the bridge for some days.
Nicole, your show is fantastic, your enthusiasm is infectious, and your content, knowledge and willingness to learn second to none. I'm way down here in New Zealand, and finding quality shows like yours is gold. Looking forward to lots of pieces from you in the future, you deserve your success. Jake.
Wonderful video with great comments! No terrifying Porsches like the 918 Spyder or the Carrera GT in his collection? Just a lot of driving cars which is what they were made for. The modifications were very thoughtful and tastefully done.
As you went into the second garage, he looked back at you and saw how stunned you were. Pretty cool he took a minute and let you just soak it in. The man lives in the moment and, as such, understands how significant moments can be. Another great video. Stoked for the new season.
One of the best episodes I've ever seen. Magnus always transmitting inspiration and passion for what he does and Nicole adding information and details in an impressive way. I felt like Magnus when I managed to buy my first Porsche (1997 Boxster 986), this video is an inspiration for me and I hope I don't slow down on this journey. Pedal to the metal 🤘🏻
I have a 1977 Euro spec 911 that doesn’t have boosted brakes. The brakes are probably my favorite part of the car. Pedal feels so good, and only “upgrade” I’ve done is stainless braided lines. I’m actually in the middle of rebuilding the calipers right now.

Thank you for watching...glad you enjoyed it!!

I love Magnus, I must have watched Urban Outlaw 25 times when it came out in 2012. He's the coolest!

“You don’t want to hit a rock and split a Hoosier”…. Ha!!
This was so much fun to watch ❤😅
We're so glad you enjoyed it!!
Cool video! And cool to see the area I grew up in. When that 6th St bridge opened in July of 2022 the first months were chaos😂 people were going on top of the arches, some guy did a burnout, crashed into a car then jumped of the bridge with a parachute. It got so crazy they closed the bridge for some days.
Thank you for sharing with us!! We're glad you enjoyed watching!!
That man can talk! What a nice man that is happy and excited for life and will live past 100!

@@NicoleJohnsonsDetour Love your energy and joy!
Magnus is the too flipping cool...and his 277 911 is what it is, in the best possible way...So envious ❤😂❤
We agree!! Thanks for watching!!
Cool 911 collection, very cool guy, great video thanks
Thank you for watching!
Wonderful video with great comments! No terrifying Porsches like the 918 Spyder or the Carrera GT in his collection? Just a lot of driving cars which is what they were made for. The modifications were very thoughtful and tastefully done.
Thanks for watching...we're glad you enjoyed!!
As you went into the second garage, he looked back at you and saw how stunned you were. Pretty cool he took a minute and let you just soak it in. The man lives in the moment and, as such, understands how significant moments can be.
Another great video. Stoked for the new season.
Thank you!! We're so glad you enjoyed watching!!
When you got in the main garage, it looked like your jaw broke. What an amazing guy and collection. 277 is simply THE driver's Porsche.
Thank you for watching!!
I'm new to this channel....but, between Magnus and Nicole I'm hooked! Looking forward to seeing more adventures with Nicky!
Welcome aboard! We're so glad you enjoyed watching!!
This is easily one of the most interesting episodes to date! Magnus is an amazing person, as you stated, just real.
Keep it up, Nicole!
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching!!
We're so glad you enjoyed watching! Thank you!!
I have a 1977 Euro spec 911 that doesn’t have boosted brakes. The brakes are probably my favorite part of the car. Pedal feels so good, and only “upgrade” I’ve done is stainless braided lines. I’m actually in the middle of rebuilding the calipers right now.
Cool...thanks for sharing!!
Love porcshe,love Magnus,love yor's channel,thx❤
Thank you...we appreciate that!!
