Great tips, learned a lot. I think I would add that you shouldn't be afraid to dismiss walls with F if you place a bad one that cuts off your team in a negative way. I find myself doing this a lot as I learn the range :)
Good point!!! Totally forgot to mention that! Dismissing walls can actually be good offensively too. Sometimes enemies will try to use your own walls for cover. But you can just delete it, leaving them entirely exposed.
I often throw up my big wall and take down within 1-2 seconds. Team behind it is usually backing up to avoid flanks and once I take it down I blast half the team in backs. Wait 3-4 seconds and I can replace.
Glad it helped! The jeff block can be tough because sometimes he'll still get the swallow on you even if you think you walled in time. I'd just recommend holding out your wall, ready to place it when you hear his ult voice line. Then you'll have enough reaction time to block him off.
You said that Thorn wall is only activated by yourself, but allies can activate it's effects if you are near the wall (Awakened). For many instances i got a kill cuz the wall was in a choke point and my dps hited the enemy and the wall finished the job.
Yes, that's a great correction. I misspoke there. The thornlash wall can be awakened by a teammate hitting an enemy. The only requirement from you is to be in-range of your wall when your teammate hits the enemy. Thank you for mentioning this
Really good guide too! I like that your philosophy on the Ironwood wall isn't just to stick it off to the side completely like a lot of people suggest, but to aim for a compromise between getting heals from it and providing cover; that's how I've been trying to use it so it's nice to see a good player who's on board with that idea 😅 If you're up for it I'd love to see some Groot gameplay commentary in the future, I find that's just as helpful as the guide especially for a character like Groot who's all about improvising and reacting creatively to what the match throws at you
we’re definitely on the same wavelength! Love tryna make the goofy, fun characters work. Glad to see another mnk main enjoying groot:) Thanks for the kind words and I think that’s a great idea about the commentary video. I’m adding that to the video idea list for sure.
There needs to be an option to toggle a more clear demarcation that shows his left click range. I need a better visual representation of groots ult going off. As it is, he just bellows "I AM GROOT" nonstop so it's hard to tell when anything important is happening.
Agreed. I’d really like an ultimate cast indicator and actually i would like the opposite of that for his walls. I have the distances down already and wish there was an ‘instant cast’ option so i can throw down walls quicker. Would help immensely with blocking abilities
i picked him the other day just to do a challenge. the results were immediate to the point where i think hes replacing magento as one of my tank picks.
also worth mentioning is to save walls to ult onto. ideally you would put a double wall down and ult in the middle, but otherwise an ult and then putting a wall while it's ticking is huge dps!
All good points! especially the fact that you should always have a wall ready for your ult. Love trapping mag… my only gripe is he can be a real pain if he’s good at eating your ult
Of course! My mouse setting are 3.5 vert/horizontal, I believe I'm on 800 dpi. I want to be a tank main fr, I love being a wall, making space, causing chaos, and protecting my teammates, if you touch my healer you better have an elaborate escape plan, Mjonir and I haven't met a Wolverine we've had a problem with yet #gogetDeadpool
Wrong. It is short for Calico Critters. Groot is part tree henceforth bound to have a degree of critterhood. Misinformation does not look good on you. Good day to you sir.
@ I swear it was happening to me last night, it’s how I realized the shield did anything at all to it. Then your video randomly pops up in my feed today 😂
I don't understand since when does 20+ hours on a character is considered good at a character I have 1000 tinker games in Dota and I'm good but it's like a fucking 1000 games
Because this game is only a few months old lol, so having hundreds of games on a single character is quite a lot. Dota has been around for over a decade. If it makes you feel better, I'm in the top 100 for Groot globally.
@@bavinngames Nah man it makes me feel like a complete idiot to have grinded so many games to finally barely reach Immortal (which by now is like 3.5%) whereas someone can spend 20 hours and be gifted / smart enough to reach top 100 Groot globally That's sounds absolutely absurd to me :D:D Congrats though keep slaying
@ ehh it might look like that but that 20 hours is just actual *in-game play time* on one character, on my main account. I have 3 accounts, with 300+ total hours on MR. I was also very big into Overwatch back in the day and had several accounts in top 500 as a tank main. This game is very similar to Overwatch and many of the skills translated well. I didn't really mention any of that in the video but it definitely helped me a lot in picking this game up quickly. Also to be completely honest, Dota is a harder game overall and probably takes much more time to master.
@@bavinngames Hey thanks for clearing that up! Good to know, so you have lots of experience. I was wondering how much Overwatch skill translates to Marvel Rivals. I'm enjoying this game a ton and I especially love listening to any informational videos so I'll be watching your stuff ^^ All the best to you
@@Library4Lich oh yeah it's like the all the same fundamentals... they took so much from OW. And I'm not even complaining, Blizzard fumbled so bad so glad to see another company just do it better.

I occasionally like to put parallel walls and box people in between them.
Great guide! Thank you for not just re-reading the in-game ability guides and actually going in-depth
This guide definitely helped fill in some holes for me, had no idea I could block Jeff and Namor with a wall.
Glad it helped! The jeff block can be tough because sometimes he'll still get the swallow on you even if you think you walled in time. I'd just recommend holding out your wall, ready to place it when you hear his ult voice line. Then you'll have enough reaction time to block him off.
Dude did you just squeeze in that meme of the guy constantly saying, “calc. That short for calculator in case anybody didn’t know” 😂
;) had to do it
As a Wolverine main, I appreciate you encouraging people to play Groot. 😊
I feel bad for the Groot mains below diamond, it's very rough. Wolverine is my ban every game

I'm new here, what does calc mean?
i picked him the other day just to do a challenge. the results were immediate to the point where i think hes replacing magento as one of my tank picks.
groot is really good into a magneto, who really struggles to break out of a wall jail! it takes like 4/5 shots to get a small wall down.
also worth mentioning is to save walls to ult onto. ideally you would put a double wall down and ult in the middle, but otherwise an ult and then putting a wall while it's ticking is huge dps!

ya it sucks playing against Groot as mag, I usually just bubble myself and find a gap back to my team, cause I know I'm dead otherwise
Good video. I like to play groot and for sure learned some new things in this vid. thanks
I’m maining groot in ranked. My team has won 17 out of 20 games. He is so good
I use the walls to destroy Jeff’s bubbles a lot.
not bad! I think you can also walk over those to pop em too, no?
great tips. Thanks!
Can you actually put up 3 thorn lash walls?
Yes, you hold 2 charges max but can have 3 active at a time. There’s an indicator for this on the left side of your screen
This is a really good guide

Click qnd drag in any dirextion and you use both skinny walls at the same time, horizontally or vertically
Did you not watch the video?
i didnt know the wall healed lmao
Why across multiple accounts?
I have an alt account to play with friends

Sorry, why are you using slang for calculator?
just a meme, hoping at least 1 person knows the video I'm talking about but maybe not - from good griefs on yt
@bavinngames ahah yes i know he was apologising for using slang so I was acting like i was mad 🤣 great guide anyway !
