Can’t believe I didn’t think of it but I promise I’ll be using these tips from now on lol
Hey GM Groot main here, great video! Just wanted to add that you can instantly destroy objects like Peni Parker’s mine turret and Rocket’s Armor\Revive thing by placing a wall on it. Don’t do the Ironwood wall since for some reason it’s more inconsistant than the normal walls.
Something to add to this is that it does give Pennie’s nest back immediately so it still worth trying to break it but the pennie might not realize they need to re up it

Checked out his other videos for more Marvel Rivals Videos and was surprised that this is his only one. This was a very good in depth guide to the character. Please CoolGuy do more these are very good.

Genuinely a great guide. I had no idea what I was doing with the walls before I watched this video. Learning to use the thornlash walls aggressively instantly changed everything. Please make more.
Hard vouch. I'm a Dr. Strange main but CG showed me a bunch of groot tech (while making this video) in the practice range, and the tips go HARD. You can get outrageous damage blocked AND dealt with better/clever wall placement. Awesome character.

This was one of the best guides I’ve ever seen in any game. Most guides are about this length but you get 2-3 mins of actually helpful information this guide is just packed full of amazing and helpful tips. Great job. Please continue making guides for this awesome game. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Wow this was incredibly helpful! I’m willing to bet that I’ve played Groot more than 90% of people, just because I randomly realized how great he can be when I tried him one time. I figured out the melee combo thing which NO ONE knows about so that’s a surprise for the other team, but I had no idea how helpful the walls are outside of just blocking sight lines and what not. In game, it’s hard to even see what “awakening” even does, but oh my gosh I didn’t even realize the small walls were actually doing what their description says when you attack people within 5m. Very good video. Also yes, ever since I’ve started playing him properly, no one ever out-damages Groot on the stat screen
same lol I realized melee weaving for him instantly because of the way the walls work. I was like "more attacks per second is much better so lets check if he can weave in melee's for more attacks per second" lol I played ESO for a while though and melee weaving is a whole thing in that game.
The one game I am going to try that isn't Destiny 2 (because I'm a Father,Husband with a full time job) is going to be this game and my favorite scientist Coolguy is covering it. I am so happy to see this content, I sent to my work buddies, whom I will be playing with.
Quite solid guide! As an Eternity Groot main there is value to using Ironwood for sustain, but I think it’s main value is still in isolating the enemy for your team to follow up on, since it has more health and takes longer to destroy. As another note, if you hold left click (and presumably the trigger) to build a thorn lash wall and move your camera, you can build multiple walls in one action. This is great for getting to high ground faster with the diagonal walls, or blocking a choke faster. You know this but I don’t think it was mentioned in the video.
the thing about the big wall was a huge surprise for me. About the small walls i now understand where all the damage comes, i used to play groot carelessly just placing walls around and luckily comboing people by accident, now i need to get in a game with him to apply the new knowledge
Thanks for the video. This was a game changer for me. Groot was the one remaining character that I wanted to try that I never could get any value out of.

Really really good guide, I tried him the first day and was using his walls just like you said at the beginning without any success. Now i really feel like giving him another chance, maybe when I'm not stuck playing supports
This guide is next level, no ine else talks about utlizing ironwood more like a buff totem instead of a defensive wall. Groot main here. Leveled up my game by watching this. One tip I do want to add that I figured out today, small walls destroy Peni's spider spawner if placed right under it.
8:03 i actually kinda love how this wall is not exactly perfect according to the previous thought of setting it super safe. It protects yourself and your pocket and you manage to push up. Those are the kinds of walls i wanna practice! Now imagine if you have Namor or Penni Parker on defense? Oh boy the zone control!
Honestly didn’t think I’d learn anything from watching this since I’ve played so much Groot already, but man the spore at the wall idea is something I haven’t thought about . Excited to try that out . Good tips man!
Thanks for this post! This is the best video about Groot in the game Marvel Rivals. Keep it up, because it's really clear and easy to apply for a better experience with the game. I’m looking forward to more content like this. You’re helping the community a lot with these tips!
What an amazing guide! Everyone else just reads their abilities and calls it a guide but you are actually going into great detail about playing the character.
This guide is easily the best Groot guide out there. Climbed to diamond mainly playing Groot (was duoing with a friend who played mantis) and I consistently got more damage than our DPS thanks to this guide. It's crazy to me how many groots I see throwing out the ironwood wall with no thought and not utilising the overshields. It seems minimal but it makes a whole world of difference
To every groot player: just remember this Guide is not what you have to do, these are just things you can do, so if you want to crank 90s or use your ironwoodwall to block damage, do that, its up to you
I just wanted to say that after watching this, I had a win streak where I was consistently the Ace of my team, 5 matches in a row. Thank you for the great tips!!!
Amazing guide, as a groot player this is massively helpful. I always used my big wall to wall enemies out but now ill think twice about when and where to use it. Subbed
This is the exact type of guide to Groot that I was looking for. Something more than just the surface level of what his abilities do - but actually how to use them efficiently. Thank you!
I'll be honest, I've watched a few Groot guides thus far, and none of them have actually covered the fact that the thornlash walls have a rough 5m range to them. The only part I would've gone into more detail about personally was to show what the 5m actually is, and that is a Groot Box (TM), with a little bit of leeway for movement when passing through it for damage, or the fact it takes roughly half a second, sometimes more or less (depending on the server) for a wall to actually "awaken" after being placed. That and actually showing off the damage numbers and combos. I'm a hardcore Dota 2 (MOBA) player, and so I'm used to heavily seeing numbers and comparisons to other heroes in terms of dps, healing, tanking, et cetera, so being able to see those numbers always makes my heart leap with joy that somebody is being technical, it's not just me. Please keep these up, these are amazing, I love them, and you explain it all perfectly. Oh also the fact you can actually quickwall two lengthwise walls by pressing shift once, then left-clicking once, then hovering left or right and confirming. It will place up to two charges at once.
i honestly thought you were a dedicated marvel rivals/hero shooter channel with how insightful and highly produced this video is. subscribed! and eagerly waiting for more rivals content, keep up the good work!
I'm excited for you to dive deeper into Marvel Rivals and hopefully provide guides just as excellent as this one for other characters. A lot of people are putting out garbage guides for the sake of clicks, but hopefully you can blow them out of the water with your honest and informative approach. You've always provided excellent analysis of countless weapon perks/stat package relationships and it's perfectly executed here with the kit abilities. It may be worth continuing to cover the rest of the tanks and maybe supports afterward; really whomever fascinates you most as that'll probably produce the best guides. Helping people understand the capabilities of each kit and the rolls they fill is a service I am very thankful for, especially when all the tanks in this game play VERY differently from each other when used correctly. Even select duelists, like Wolverine being a tank buster first and not a backline attacker like so many other duelists.
I watched a lot of your content for D2 and it totally changed the way I play. I've been nervous to try Groot, don't understand his kit but I'm a monster with Peni. Once again, you've totally opened my mind as to what's possible and I'm super stoked to give Groot a shot. Definitely keep making Rivals content!
Rarely comment on videos like this but this was an exceptional guide. I was wondering why Groots were either hard carrying or doing nothing, and this explanation of walls explains it beautifully. Gonna try him out!
this guide is actually crazy. im a forced groot main and have had some inconsistent games recently, sometimes i drop 30+ kills and sometimes i have like 10 deaths. the wall tips legit sound like game changers and im excited to start using them

I’m not sure why you got recommended on my feed bc I see you do a lot of D2, which is sick too bc I used to love that game. But I’m glad you popped up. Plz more guides lol. Groot is one of the only tanks I haven’t played yet and mostly bc I figured he had high level potential and I didn’t wanna go in just walling randomly. Now I can’t wait to go in and learn him for real. Thanks and keep it up 👍
For the double wall tech, just an FYI, you can place them horizontal or diagonal. Just hold left click or whatever the controller input is. Then drag to whatever direction you're trying to go, and it places both walls. 👍

Groot rocketed (no pun intended) me straight up to Gold. With a committed Jeff you are almost unstoppable
Now, this is a GREAT GUIDE
FINALLY, I've been looking for a good Groot video that's not just basic tips, this is a huge help. Thanks!
God-tier guide. I just watched another Groot guide and it didn't even mention Groot could melee attack. I had ZERO idea he could melee.
Push on brother! Here for your style and delivery, teach me anything and I’ll watch!
Honestly didn’t think I’d learn anything from watching this since I’ve played so much Groot already, but man the spore at the wall idea is something I haven’t thought about . Excited to try that out . Good tips man!
Great guide! I've never played a hero team game so maybe I'll give this a try
Beautifully concise guide. Much appreciated
2:41 it might be late at the time of watching this video, but seasonal bonus buffs are applied regardless of team ups
Thanks for this post! This is the best video about Groot in the game Marvel Rivals. Keep it up, because it's really clear and easy to apply for a better experience with the game.
I’m looking forward to more content like this. You’re helping the community a lot with these tips!
Groot being my main and a vid on him from one of my fav Destiny channels??? Count me in!
This has to be one of the best marvel guides hands down.
What an amazing guide! Everyone else just reads their abilities and calls it a guide but you are actually going into great detail about playing the character.
NiCE GUIDE BRO! GOOD EXPLAINATION, SUPER EASY TO UNDERSTAND!
12:35 you know what else is massive
Groots health pool amiright?
Looooow taper fade
This guide is easily the best Groot guide out there. Climbed to diamond mainly playing Groot (was duoing with a friend who played mantis) and I consistently got more damage than our DPS thanks to this guide. It's crazy to me how many groots I see throwing out the ironwood wall with no thought and not utilising the overshields. It seems minimal but it makes a whole world of difference
2:19 where is the green circle? am i blind?
It's a faint line, but when you're in range of the walls the icons on the left light up
Now that is a Groot guide. Cracked. IAMGROOT
To every groot player: just remember this Guide is not what you have to do, these are just things you can do, so if you want to crank 90s or use your ironwoodwall to block damage, do that, its up to you
Its the most optimal way to play groot
No joke, one of the best videogame guides I've ever seen, very in-depth explanations and tips for each ability. Very nice
Been playing Groot probably most successfully before seeing this guide, and it's spot on. Learned even more from this, like ulting wall, thanks!
Finally a good groot guide with advanced tips. Every. Other. One. is just telling me what the attacks do. Much love from a groot main
Best guide on Groot I’ve seen! He’s my favorite tank but I knew I wasn’t utilizing his abilities. Now I can! Thanks!!
One of the best guides for any video game I’ve ever seen
This is by far the most comprehensive Groot guide out there. You explain everything amazingly. Thanks for the content
WOW great guide I just got into groot and am so amazed on what I was missing this better improve my game great guide❤
One of the most useful guides ive ever seen in this game
I just wanted to say that after watching this, I had a win streak where I was consistently the Ace of my team, 5 matches in a row. Thank you for the great tips!!!
I’ve seen some great guides for Marvel Rivals. This was the best one I’ve seen. Wow keep this up!
you opened my eyes on the ways to actually play groot. one thing for sure is that playing groot has never been this satisfying before
This is by far the best marvel rivals tutorial on how to use a hero I have watched so far. Well done
It will place up to two charges at once.
i honestly thought you were a dedicated marvel rivals/hero shooter channel with how insightful and highly produced this video is. subscribed! and eagerly waiting for more rivals content, keep up the good work!
this was a really cool video from a really cool guy making a really cool guide
This is for real the best educational video on my favorite tank I have ever seen. Drastic mindset change after watching this
Played my first groot game ever after watching this, most fun I have had in a while. Got multiple 4 man kills with ulti.
This is the best guide I’ve seen on any character for marvel rivals so far. Fantastic work.
Gonna try him out!
this guide is actually crazy. im a forced groot main and have had some inconsistent games recently, sometimes i drop 30+ kills and sometimes i have like 10 deaths. the wall tips legit sound like game changers and im excited to start using them
I have been abusing 1100 heath Groot by hiding the iron wall since launch bc no one understands it. I appreciate that you’re the only TH-camr who took the time learn the character and not regurgitate what everyone else says. Good work CoolGuy
This actually made me want to try him, and I like how clear and informative you are. Can't wait to see more.
Now THIS is a guide. Got all the Numbers on screen thrown out with well explained examples. This editing with a clear spoken thought process is much appreciated!!
More hero guides please. The detailed analytic thought process of yours is very informative and easy to follow.
What a guide. You have completely changed how I thought grout needed to play with his high health wall.
A buddy of mine dragged me into a match and I didn’t know who to play so I picked groot and absolutely popped off when I remembered some of these tips. Thanks Coolguy
Bruh this is probably the best hero guide I’ve seen so far (and I’ve watched a lot).
Thanks and keep it up 👍
Dude great review, the way your talking and explaining how other people react your very realistic and make things easy to understand. Great job
For the double wall tech, just an FYI, you can place them horizontal or diagonal. Just hold left click or whatever the controller input is. Then drag to whatever direction you're trying to go, and it places both walls. 👍
I've never seen your channel before. I really love the way you think, and the way that you explain concepts. Huge fan of what you do.
You have always been my favorite D2 content creator. But as someone who recently stepped back from the game, I'm so glad to see you making content for new games I play. Amazing video by the way
