I own a few Henry rifles and their quality is outstanding. Their customer service is about the best in the industry as well. Nicest people in the business.
Its nice to watch a review where you work the action with the rifle still on the shoulder. Drives me nuts seeing people lower the firearm every time they work a lever or bolt. One of my fave gun review channels!
There are some Winchester Repros. Unfortunately, a few crappy reviews on youtube took it straight out of the box without breaking it in, and said it doesnt cycle well. Cant speak to their quality because of the sheer mass of reviews who made this mistske No henrys though
After much research, I chose this firearm as my gun of choice out in the field for a day of sporting fun. Also for personal protection when out camping or hiking in the backwoods. This gun is accurate enough for hitting steel targets at a distance of 25 or 30 yards with defense loads or slugs. It’s very good for shooting clays as well. Aside from the heavy recoil of a 12 gauge, a 50 caliber 12 gauge slug is just very brutal on a piece of steel even at 50 yards with open sights. If you’re into sport shooting as I am, this gun is much more appropriate than a 12 gauge what should be for obvious reasons.
Keep in mind, if you are watching this in the future like me, this is the old 20 inch Henry, which has been discontinued. There is a new version which has a side loading gate so you can top off without having to pull out the tube every time. Otherwise I believe it is the same.
I love everything about the 410 except for the ammo price. It's often more than double that of 12 or 20 ga. The shotguns are more expensive in most cases too. You can take 2 of the same brand, same model shotguns, one 410 and one 12 ga. and the 410 price will be significantly higher.
Wanted one before the video. Now I really want one. Our daughter is getting to the age where a 410 is in order. Looks like Henry has what she’ll get! Good stuff.
yeah a friend of mine had one and it was okay, not much use as a shotgun and not much better with slugs or 45LC , nor was the 22 mag version, loads of cylinder blast, could not shoot it with bare arms it just peppered you., just not all that good of a gun.
OK boys I have been using 410's for over 50 years and I will say it is one of the most under rated shot guns ever. Most people cant and wont learn to shoot well enough to use the gun in the first place and lots of people never even give it a fair chance in the first place .they are to macho for such a little gun!!
My first gun was given to me by my uncle a wingmaster .410 pump . Made around 59-60 great shotgun. I enjoy shooting it more than my 12 or 20. I shoot enough .410 i reload it. I agree most people wont give it a chance. I break the mold i really do enjoy .410. i have a few other single shots now this will be my newest 🤣
WCGwkf I know that but a shotgun can do things a 22 cannot. You can pick a 12 gauge but it is heavier than a 22 and you can carry 100 rounds or more of 22 for the weight of a dozen 12 gauge shells. With a 410 you can also carry considerably more ammo for the same weight as a dozen 12 gauge shells, the gun is way lighter and you can choose from a wide variety of specialist ammo whereas a 22 is a one trick pony in that regard. This thing is not much heavier than the 22 version, significantly lighter than a 12 gauge and with slugs and buckshot it can take larger prey than a 22, so colour me interested. Where I live this would be a perfect gun for extended trips into the outback.
Just in case somebody's planning on buying one of these remember that there IS a little bit of recoil,...as you can see from the slo-mo section there at the 45 second mark...maybe like a 30-30. The recoil is light but certainly more than " zero". This model .420 lever action Henry is a fun gun to be sure!
i was about to say the same, 410 is still pretty peppy. a friend of mine has a light weight take-down survival 410 and that thing HURTS when you shoot 3" shells, worse than my Mosin M44. but weight is everything, that Henry would be okay since its probably more than double the weight of the survival 410.
Yes, Aussie50, 'funny' that you would mention the lighter weight .410,..I have one too,...and I can assure anyone else who may not be used to them,..that they do indeed let you know you're fired one. That's a good comparison too with the Mosin Nagant. Cheers!
Got my first single shot 410 when I was 9 years old and used to hit more clays than some of the guys with double barrel 12g! Still got it now at 42 years old
Late to game here, but AGREED! This gun goes for around $900 right now (thanks covid) and without chokes and can't run 3" shells, that is expensive for a "farm/varmint" gun. IMO.
Your video is on Henry website. The fact that you said that gun needed warranty work and they still posted that video to their site tells a lot about this company. I'm definitely getting at least one of their rifles.
I love my Henry Silver Big Boy 357 Magnum. I think the next one i get on my bucket list. Is the all-weather Henry 30-30. Thanks for showing this awesome 410 Henry Eric and keep up the great content Sir.
@@thetoneknob4493 Maybe the other way around would be more likely. A single shot rifle chambered in a magnum revolver round that can also take 410. I too would love to see that.

I put a Skinner rear sight on mine and am seeing 1.5” groups at 50 yds.using Winchester Super X 1/5 oz. slugs doing 1,800 ft. a second. That is rifle accurate and produces.357 like ballistics with basically a 95 go projectile.
Thanks for demonstrating Henry's .419 lever action rifle. It's a versatile repeater. My first firearm was a 410 bolt action gifted on my 12th birthday. As for cut shells, why not just use slugs? People underestimate the 410. I routinely took crows at more than 200 feet.
Passed my hunter safety course in "74 in Jersey with by pals .410 . Great gun . We used to blast rabbits + squirrels in the hedgerows . Low power made it a hit because homes are so close ..
Eric ...they just lapped your chamber :) deburred your front of chamber where bore starts and them lapped it to the end so shells do not stick on uneven surface
I own a few Henry rifles. The magazine on my .45-70 wouldn’t take a full load, I called Henry, they immediately diagnosed the problem and sent me a replacement part which was very easily installed. That is the only problem I’ve had with a Henry and clearly their customer service matches the high quality of their manufacturing.
Richard Edgecomb it’s interesting that I hear people praising Henry customer service for all the SERVICE work the guns are being sent in for. I love good service but would rather have good guns that don’t need it. Hope Henry is more the latter
grumpysquid As I said, with 5 Henry rifles that was the only issue I’ve encountered. Once the new tube was installed the .45-70 works perfectly. I love my Henry rifles!
i had to send mine back too but they fixed the sticking spent shells in a week. I think they polished my chamber. Excellent shotgun. Hey .410's are fun :)
I have a 45/70 brass 22" barrel. The action was rough. I didn't send it back cos I'm in the UK. I followed U Tube dismantling instructions and found a rough finish. A little bit of fine sanding and all was well.

@Justin Lehman Thirding. I'd love to get a better idea on how stuff like this would perform both for defense, but also for hunting. Like how deep can you expect a .410 slug to penetrate?
@@rangefinderz5135 I get the hunch that the PDX load won't be as good as a stoutly loaded slug anyway, I've heard such a load from a proper length .410 Bore shotgun (as opposed to the Judge's short and oversized bore) is supposed to compare in energy to a .41 Magnum revolver, which is not shabby at all.

Great Rifle in my opinion.... because I own one! Great video as well. Would like to see a side gate on this like the Henry Ax!!
This actually makes a 410 way more interesting! Be a fantastic home defense weapon.

You know what would be cool? A lever gun that ran 45 Colt and .410, like the Taurus Judge. IMO, that would be far more practical.

Be good for zombies. .45 at medium range, feed in shotshells for close lol
Downside to that is that you’d need a rifles bore for the .45 to be worth a damn, which would screw any shot patterns up with the .410
Reliability would suck
It is so good to see the comeback of the Lil 410 in handgun and long guns!
