Okay... so, and I'm sure that you've been asked this already, but how many carrots are you two eating daily? And I, for science purposes only, mean exactly how many carrots. Also, the sheep are some of my favorite characters in this show. Love you guys
Carrots are a real thing. The night before I did my final rifle qualification for the US Army Infantry school at Ft Benning back in the early 90s, my Senior Drill Sergeant said he had a secret weapon to help us shoot Expert. He opened up a burlap sack filled with carrots and told us to eat two of them

yea the 1874 quigley is veey heavy.. lol i csn hold it up steady but im pretty strong. my gf though haha barely could.. i have a video of her shooting it like a shotgun haha
Quigleys shooting skills are phenomenal. But to the decerning movie watcher his true superpower is ranging the bucket. A heavy bullet at that range and velocity is arching like a horseshoe and has to be sighted to an exact range or no dice.
Except that the entry and exit holes are pretty much parallel to the ground. If the bullet arced like you claim, the exit hole would be in the bottom of the bucket.
Truly amazing. You two folks are quite a team and inspiration. I just received my Shiloh Sharps 45-70 with a 34 inch barrel after a year and nearly five months wait. I cannot wait to test fire it and our nearby range. Thanks for sharing these wonderful videos.
699 scope wouldn't help much ,that gun doesn't have the ability to consistently hit the bucket at that distance, then there is a little problem of holding the rifle steady enough to hold on target, then of course the open sights make aiming at the bucket impossible at that distance and so after a number of shots he fluke'd a hit but couldn't repeat, there are people who can do slightly better but the fact remains hitting the bucket is a fluke....now try the 782 yd bucket shot which is just another 327 yards farther....of course you'll need a scope just to see the bucket but little facts like that aren't necessary for a movie and possibly best left out
450yards... offhand... iron sights.... fantastic shooting... The set trigger is excellent for offhand shots.... I had a 7 x 57 hunting rifle with one, a single trigger job, but settable, and it was a boon offhand as you knew exactly when the loud noise was going to happen....
That looks like fun. I bought two 1874 receiver kits several years ago. I built one up in 50-90 and am in the process of building the second one up in either 40-70 BN or 40-82. A 14 lb rifle is hard to hold steady after only a few shots. Great job...
Great shot. Love that movie and that is my favorite part. Well that and the end. My arm was getting tired watching you hold that heavy rifle up. Awesome work and vision to get in that with irons/peep.
Incredible video and amazing skills. I enjoy watching all of your videos. This one is just special. You make a great team and a great couple. Keep up the excellent work.
Great shooting. Many decades ago during basic, I remember being told (and experiencing) that at 400m, pretty close to 450yds, you can't differentiate between torso, head and limbs when using an open sight, it is true. So, a small bucket is about the size of a big head, like mine, and the shooting of near centre of that bucket is very impressive. At my best, when shooting evey day, I'd have managed an occasional shot like that (after quite a bit of sighting in), so, watching you do that was just great. I doubt if my old arthritic body and weak eyes could manage that prone these days, so, I can only hope that we don't get invaded by bucket like aliens anytime soon. Thanks for the video.
I am getting one of those rifles as soon as I can find one. 45-70 with a 30" octagon. Though I am looking for the sporter stock instead of the straight. I figure the 30 inch will do everything I need.
Great video. Very entertaining. Most impressive. your shooting abilities are amazing. I was watching the end of the barrel you had to be timing when the sights were coming to the target. My grandfather use to call it wobbling on.
