yeah i think about this a lot. Krieg's character is based around his frustration at not being able to act "normal" but it genuinely didnt make a difference to Maya that he was different. She accepted the psycho part of him before he did. its very sweet.

It wasn't until his sane self got his other personality to warn her about some enemies sneaking up on her, and for him to dispatch these enemies, to realize that he wasn't a threat to her.
This is why I love my wife so much, I have a lot of problems that a lot of people don't understand. Especially my family. She is the only person who took the time to understand me and she loves me for all the good I bring and understands the bad parts
I’m not upset at Maya’s death. It wouldn’t be the first time a playable character was killed for the plot. I AM pissed that it was entirely Ava’s fault, and the game refused to acknowledge that, to then twist the knife some more and give Ava Maya’s Siren powers AND make her Commander of the Raiders. Two things she absolutely did not deserve. Which is why I’m glad she was completely absent in any of the expansions.
Completely agree. If they had handled it like Roland’s death (and either cut out Ava or have her take responsibility for her death) then it would’ve been perfect. They didn’t. They didn’t and it sucks.

There can be many dialogues that say otherwise, such as that Maya knew that she could die soon and that she was going to pass her powers on to her, but you don't have to be very smart to know that from the moment Ava sneaks in to kill the guardian, something It smelled bad in the atmosphere, let's go, the death flag of all life. My predictions? I just hope that in the time that passes for the next Borderlands Krieg meets Ava and teaches her not to be an idiot, which can only happen with the death of Krieg (because Ava seems to have a bird in her brain and not I see another way for her rebellion to end, imagine, she practically killed Maya with her way of being and I do not see signs of change in her)
He’d be angry but he wouldn’t kill her that’s not in kriegs character tokill an innocent girl. Yes Ava is a petulant asshole teenager but she is still innocent. And killing Ava would damage Krieg’s mental state even more
I hope they bring her back, and not like in a robot like some people are suggesting she could come back. I want her back, just her, and I also want Ava killed in a future expansion or game.
I'm almost sure that she can return, not in the flesh, but maybe in a spiritual kind of way. Not sure if it shows in the video, but I read something about how sirens are never really "dead" per se. Maybe she could be implemented into the story again in the future

The combo I'm speaking off is double res/frenzy. Krieg can resurrect Maya instantly, then he goes down, Maya uses her res on Krieg and since Krieg is low on health then (i believe it was 20 or 25%) he can go into mutant mode right after. This is repeatable infinitely. Abilities needed to be skilled ofc (sorry don't know the names of skill tree and ability. Been a while since I last played BL2).
Worse thing is, had Krieg was running around during BL3 instead of being trapped in his own mind He would have made Troy wish he was never born I'm upset that we lost such a beautiful couple, Maya being able to read Krieg's mind and can actually hear Sane Krieg is just so touching And now its worse that Krieg decided to just live inside Vaulthalla and dream about a life with an imaginary Maya being his wife
i see gearbox is trying a faulty story pattern. sacrificing bl 1/1.5/2 characters' relevance, presence, & sometimes lives in bl3 to pave way for new bl3 chars and npcs to steal the show. there are some exceptions like zer0/tannis/ellie/hammerlock/moxxie/marcus/timothy, but the rest of bl 1/1.5/2 chars seems to be shoved back to the background. their personal character stories' continuation fading away or just gone without decent explanations (axton, salvador).

I have autism. I'm not always able to express myself the best way due to my lack of social skills and people can get the wrong idea a lot of the time. This is why I loved Kreig. You know he's an intelligent person with a good heart and morals deep down, he just can't express it due to the Eridium experiments creating The Psycho that we know today. "Close enough" means a lot to me. It means "I got the message across" or "Yes! They understand me". It's such a relief when I don't have to overexplain myself to someone. I rarely speak nowadays, only to my partner, but even if my communication isn't great, it's characters like Kreig that make me feel seen and heard without having to say a word.
If a loved character has to die for another character to show their importance it is not a good trade. Most likely you will loose your audience, either pissing them off for killing a fan favorite or making them hate the new character because it is the only was to show validity of that character's development which is solely based on the death of their beloved character. Happened to Joel and Maya 10/10 lazy writing P.s. they did my boy Krieg dirty
see, depending on how the DLC is interpreted, Krieg and Maya, though not together physically, ARE still together, Maya had imprinted her memories, her mind, effectively her very SOUL into her book, and that had now become a part of Krieg's mind, effectively being the third voice to reconcile the other two, and allowing her to live on, literally, in his head
"And that's when it happened....she HEARD me." I can't imagine the pain of never being understood, always being misunderstood, thinking you'll always be alone because of the way you are. Meeting someone like that, someone who knows you and understands you, would be the greatest gift you could ever receive. And to lose that gift....it would probably be the most painful event in your entire life.
I'll wait for them to actually do something interesting with her character before I render any final judgments. Up until now, she's kind of just... been there.
This is now one of my absolute favorite borderlands stories, it really help understand the feeling krieg has and how his character developed. I absolutely loved the memories krieg had that shower why he was so attached to maya. Without this we never would’ve know that maya somehow understood krieg when he was saying gibberish. We also wouldn’t of know how he thought the train was an enemy.
The end brings me to tears. After all that strife and internal struggle they found the truth of themselves. And with what little they had left they used to build something new. It gives hope that one day these psycho's in borderlands can one day find themselves on the path to being whole again
We all know BD4 is gonna happen eventually but I'm seriously worried how the BD3 story is going to affect it. Especially how and where Ava fits in because don't like it or don't like it she's an important character now. I've wasted so many mags trying to kill her...
Start the story off with her missing. Your new character is put in leadership role for raiders as you assemble old team to find her. Corrupt her somehow so she is either no longer a trustworthy leader, make her leader of a new neutral faction, or if they wanted to challenge themselves in writing, put her in a minor lieutenant villian role. Then have the rest of her involvement in the game go towards making up for her previous failings in that game and previous ones. Opens up for a new leader to step in, as well as character development fans could latch on to. Honestly going down a quest line deciding who, would be pretty damn fun, considering what they could do with dialogue.
I'll just hope we can make our own character already ffs, not that i hated playing as the existing characters, but i prefer having my own than i can fully customise for my own preferences, that and an actuall good story for the game.
@@K_Balu I don't think that is something they can do with Borderlands, the closest we kind of got to that idea was with Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, but even that was "Here are these predetermined characters with specific abilities, you can mix and match later on, but you are always confined to these classes." Attempting a "Here is a blank slate character, you get to choose from a wide range of abilities with talent trees; but you won't be able to choose other abilities until much later on in the game, and also you are still bound by level restrictions so you will have a set amount of points you can invest in said trees, you can get 2 of the big power ups total." would kind of break the feel of the game.
Literally kreig trying so hard to control his other personality, all to come to miya dying cause of dumbo ava and all of his efforts (Him literally trapping himself in a cave to meditate) are just gone to waste. Moral of the story is....I think everyone just hates ava
Man actually had me crying I was always a gaige main but Christ I love these two as well this shit felt like a punch to the gut especially after seeing a meat bicycle made for two and the echo log found before Carnivora about their last conversation
They missed a opportunity with this DLC. It was great, and i really liked the dig into Kriegs mind where you got to see things from the perspective of someone suffering mentally. I especially liked how they didn't make it overly simplified and fleshed it out. What i wonder is: Who. Told. Krieg. Maya. Died. That man or woman must be amazingly brave or crazy or both, because no sane person would get close to krieg as defined by how he was in borderlands 2. With the echo's it actually gives you a perspective that Krieg has attained some lucidity and the last one before you go to the DLC indicates that he was lucid more often then not. Can you imagine how the DLC would have felt if it started with you approaching Krieg as the "messenger" of Maya's death on top of trying to find out how he ticks. He's onboard with the experiment before he could be informed about maya and you go through the entire DLC with him lucid(maybe brief bouts of him struggling) The time you hit the end, he's hit that happy stable as you guys buddy up and bring down his negativity. They could have lead that up to a wham moment of him being informed: and had him go nuts(kinda a tired trope honestly, but would make for an interesting boss fight) or had him go "I already know" because he saw the twins broadcast and reveal hes been struggling because of that(would be a bit more of a curveball) Instead though, we got a very vague reference to it that felt borderline in passing, and the short segment of you chasing her. Yeah, she's present throughout the DLC in image, and its clear she was very important but it felt all background outside of that segment.
Were the writers for the base Borderlands 3 game different from the DLCs? Because the difference in quality is really noticeable. Handsome Jackpot is an excuse to use Jack again though I don't mind that. Guns, Love, and Tentacles has a really good theme and it's a pleasure working for Jakobs and Hammerlock. Bounty of Blood has a pretty good self-contained story. And that explosive scene before the end, that's a sight to behold. Finally the Pyscho Krieg Fustercluck, though disappointingly short it gives a good insight to one of the favorite characters and give Maya more time than they gave her in the base game. Now compare that to the what we got on the base game. I was worried when the lead writer for BL2 wasn't coming back and was sadly proven correct. They could've done so much with the Calypso Twins but it seems whoever wrote the story for that is some clueless moron who's obsessed with juvenile jokes, watched too many livestreamers, and just spinned-a-wheel which character they're going to kill off for "shock" effect.

Anthony Burch was a genius, man. To this day BL2 is one of my favorite, if not my favorite game, of all time and it’s all because of him and his ability as a writer. They need to bring him back for something in the future, assuming BL4 is in the cards.
Just finished the game, gameplay wise it was amazing, actually I’d say everything besides Ava and the Twins was very good, but the problem is they’re are prevelant as hell. It also really annoyed me that your character was conveniently absent for all the cut scenes, not sure why they made such a bad decision. The twins are probably the worst characters I’ve seen in gaming for awhile, even their motivations make no sense and they’re painfully unfunny. Now for Ava. Maya is my favorite character in the series, she was the first character I played with and because of her I’ve played all of them as a siren main. She was just so damn cool in Bl3 and then Ava showed up. I genuinely don’t get what they were going for with her but it failed miserably. Maybe they wanted a more series Tina? If that’s it then why? Tina was only so good because of moderate use of her and a damn good dlc. And they just give Ava everything for no reason, she blames other people for mayas death and the gets her powers and becomes the commander of the raiders when your character did EVERYTHING. That said I loved the story segments on Eden 6 and Prometheus, the latter being my favorite borderlands quest line ever. Rhys is great and fighting a war in the city was very fun.
Now imagine if bl3’s main story took its self more seriously like this. It would be such a different experience. Some actually good story telling with a few of the occasional jokes. Can only wish for bl4 to pick up the pieces but I’m sad maya is gone and that Ava exists
Was anyone else thinking that there was some missed opportunities with the weapon rewards? Like the mission where you have to bury Krieg's axe, you could have gotten a torgue shotgun that shot out explosive buzz axes like the sword shotgun in BL2?
I played krieg on my original play thru of BL2 and I loved him as a character, and when I beat BL3 there was no dlc. It made me really happy to see them give him more.
what is offered is nice for krieg's story. but there's not enough content. it feels incomplete. it can't be compared to tina dlc or claptrap mind dlc which are the massive final dlc of bl 2 & 1.5.
I’ve left comments about this on other videos before, but I honestly don’t think she *had* to die. Could have had Troy drain Maya’s powers without killing her, and when he later dies her powers automatically go to Ava since she was the successor. Maya is still alive, but powerless. But alas, here we are. Also it seems pretty opened ended on whether or not this Maya is actually an imprint of the actual Maya or just Krieg’s perception, or both. So yes, all still in his head, but the Maya there may be something a bit different.
Some people say that Maya's soul is still alive within Krieg's head. When you talk to Maya after the DLC, she talks about being a siren and stuff, mainly that her memories and emotions can be stored within physical objects. In Krieg's case, the Log of their last convo.
maya's death caused by ava's naive bratty recklessness is poorly written. lilith got her power drained by troy but still alive without her power. why can't maya get the same treatment as lilith? maya could have work with zer0 to call other bl2 vault hunters back to aid the war against cov. ava could be kidnapped by the calypso twins and have ava cause friction between the twins and sabotaging the cov from inside, which will make people sympathetic to ava. there, it isn't that hard to write bl3 main story that won't piss off fans with poorly handled major chars death, or missing bl2 vault hunters. gearbox could have made the galactic war with cov more engaging and intense, but many corps and important chars are left hanging in the background without any role for some reason. bl3 gameplay is excellent. but the story is the worst compared to all bl1/1.5/2.
I am super fucking late to the borderlands series as a whole, but I remember playing Krieg in BL2 at my friend's place when I was younger, and he has remained my favorite character ever since. His story really hits hard man, it really does. But at the same time, it's beautiful.
can we get a spin off game where we play a beat them up with Krieg as the character, just murdering everything and finding a clone Maya with all her memory but no siren powers (except you know, the stuff she has to communicate with krieg) because i pay to play that

Krieg’s always been my favorite, since I first got into BL2. He’s a crazy, maniacal, violent, dangerous, bloodied psycho who’s insanely fun to play on top of insanely strong And yet he’s also one of the sweetest and most caring people in the verse and has some of the best motivation to be a vault hunter out of anyone Cuz krieg isn’t the psycho Krieg isn’t the sane voice Krieg is both, and that’s important for his character They both have their wants and needs even if psycho can’t articulate it as well as sane And they can agree 100% on one thing and one thing only He loves maya, psycho or sane And maya loved him too, psycho or sane I wish maya and the events of BL3 were handled differently, even if it still resulted in her death I’d have liked it done differently to give her a better sendoff But Krieg’s love for maya is shown very clearly in these scenes and the interactions between Sane and Psycho are actually really wholesome as they communicate and work together for HER mere memory, and psycho’s want to protect Sane and stay whole They came together and finally learned to be their own version of “normal” as sane learned to appreciate and care about psycho, and vice versa Because maya did what he wanted so desperately from her in BL2 She saved him. Made him feel “normal” again. And that’s beautiful
The story of Kreig is my favourite thing about the borderlands series. The one thing I wish was different about this, is that I wish they let Kreig go absolutely ballistic showing how powerful he really is and how much he was holding himself back, rampaging then somehow leading it back into this, remembering Maya, finding himself and what he learned from loving her. Then ending the same way it did at the end with Kreig merging into one again.
i'm upset about maya's death too, but i do wonder if it could turn into an interesting plotline for the future of the franchise. spoiled brat who received siren powers abuses control of the crimson raiders and suddenly the good guys aren't so good...
This DLC broke my heart... After Tina Krieg is my favorite character and he and Maya deserved so much more. Im currently replaying all BL games and now i play pre sequel, so in a few days i will replay this DLC and start crying again

I think sane krieg isnt getting it either. Hes so hellbent on silencing psycho... and yet its the psycho side that Maya saw the most of... and partially reason why she liked him so much. The ... struggling psycho. If he was fully sane when they met? Who knows if she would even care that much. His psycho-good-hearted side is endearing. And is a reason why many like him... or fear him. Sane Kriegie needs to just fully embrace Psycho as a part of him imo. Krieg is a... full package. No splitting it up. Remove the psycho side? And hes just... another guy... in psycho clothes. Maya was the only chance for Krieg making it possible to switch his sane part to the outside. What would I give that Krieg would had the chance to express his feelings for Maya. The death of her hurt me. I actually got wet eyes by the last echo before leaving the memory.
I remember when this DLC came out and there was the oddest of shift towards people bashing this entire thing. Re-watching this clip now (thank you for sharing this, GoodGamez, your namesake doesn't lie) I really cannot find anything but a few steady tears to see the care they put into showing the character of Krieg. Borderlands 3 was a true mess, but I really hope these moments aren't lost when the 4th game comes around. I still hold very deeply in my mind about Krieg telling us to keep fighting out demons and getting stronger. I didn't realize it back when, but it means so much more to me now. It's bit funny to me because i played like krieg in BO2 and played with my mother (that choose maya) and we were a good team tho! I finished the game like two times but she never get to see roland's fate... Now that i see maya and krieg stuff it gives me a smile of the moments i had with her.
I would really like Krieg to return as a playable character. Not in Borderlands 3, of course, because he deserves more than that garbage. I would love to see him become more in unity between his two personalities. Like the sane Krieg saying what he would normally do, just always extremely pissed off and screaming. Or Insane Krieg saying normal bandit nonsense in Sane Krieg's voice.
This game franchise was sad, like first time I actualy felt genuine sadness over a character when Roland died I teared up, but then gearbox go and make this DLC which just broke me, as it resonated with me so much I had lost my wife to a drunk driver and what I wouldn't give to see her again, I was in tears when this released
I think they should make a vault that houses all the powers of dead sirens and inside they live as if they never died. But the vault erases their memories and can only be unlocked by them experiencing something from their past. Kreig, now who has brief moments of sanity, uses his sane moments to try and hunt down the legendary vault and then insane Kreig is constantly visiting planets to find. While searching for the legendary vault your new vault hunter runs into krieg who orginally thinks you're trying to steal vault from him making you fight him, after the fight sane krieg comes out and explains the situation while Ava just arrives and breaks into tears because she sent you to the vault to also bring her back. Inside the vault you run into Handsome Jacks daughter who becomes the boss.of the vault and hates you because all she can remember or knows is that you killed her dad. After you kill her she remembers how bad Jack was and then dies. Ava apologizes for getting her killed and Krieg is reunited with her, she then makes a bad joke about "not making vault hunters like they use to" hunting at how this new vault hunter required help to find the vault and she accepts Avas apology, krieg realizes that Ava got her killed and Sane Krieg and insane Krieg begin to fight each other over control one wanting to kill Ava and one forgiving Ava. Your character has to make a choice and if they let Krieg try.to Kill Ava then you get a bad ending of Kreig being outlasted by the crimson raiders and Ava surviving but if you don't let him try to.Kill ava then all remains calm and you get a charm that.looks like Krieg's axe and a Pycho skin for your character.
Man, that expansion brought a tear to my eyes more than once, it's incredibly deep, the soundtrack was way overboard as well. It's a goddamn masterpiece.

Imo, they should have a vault that's called the Vault of Miracles, or Vault of resurrection, and it should be Krieg and Ava that can bring her back

The combo I'm speaking off is double res/frenzy.
Krieg can resurrect Maya instantly, then he goes down, Maya uses her res on Krieg and since Krieg is low on health then (i believe it was 20 or 25%) he can go into mutant mode right after. This is repeatable infinitely.
Abilities needed to be skilled ofc (sorry don't know the names of skill tree and ability. Been a while since I last played BL2).

i see gearbox is trying a faulty story pattern. sacrificing bl 1/1.5/2 characters' relevance, presence, & sometimes lives in bl3 to pave way for new bl3 chars and npcs to steal the show. there are some exceptions like zer0/tannis/ellie/hammerlock/moxxie/marcus/timothy, but the rest of bl 1/1.5/2 chars seems to be shoved back to the background. their personal character stories' continuation fading away or just gone without decent explanations (axton, salvador).
Oh god what if maya is the 7th siren and it turns out they try and revive her in part 4 and she ends up becoming evil? I would be pissed.

I have autism. I'm not always able to express myself the best way due to my lack of social skills and people can get the wrong idea a lot of the time.
This is why I loved Kreig. You know he's an intelligent person with a good heart and morals deep down, he just can't express it due to the Eridium experiments creating The Psycho that we know today.
"Close enough" means a lot to me. It means "I got the message across" or "Yes! They understand me". It's such a relief when I don't have to overexplain myself to someone.
I rarely speak nowadays, only to my partner, but even if my communication isn't great, it's characters like Kreig that make me feel seen and heard without having to say a word.

If a loved character has to die for another character to show their importance it is not a good trade. Most likely you will loose your audience, either pissing them off for killing a fan favorite or making them hate the new character because it is the only was to show validity of that character's development which is solely based on the death of their beloved character. Happened to Joel and Maya 10/10 lazy writing

This is now one of my absolute favorite borderlands stories, it really help understand the feeling krieg has and how his character developed. I absolutely loved the memories krieg had that shower why he was so attached to maya. Without this we never would’ve know that maya somehow understood krieg when he was saying gibberish. We also wouldn’t of know how he thought the train was an enemy.

And with what little they had left they used to build something new.

We all know BD4 is gonna happen eventually but I'm seriously worried how the BD3 story is going to affect it. Especially how and where Ava fits in because don't like it or don't like it she's an important character now. I've wasted so many mags trying to kill her...
Start the story off with her missing. Your new character is put in leadership role for raiders as you assemble old team to find her. Corrupt her somehow so she is either no longer a trustworthy leader, make her leader of a new neutral faction, or if they wanted to challenge themselves in writing, put her in a minor lieutenant villian role. Then have the rest of her involvement in the game go towards making up for her previous failings in that game and previous ones. Opens up for a new leader to step in, as well as character development fans could latch on to. Honestly going down a quest line deciding who, would be pretty damn fun, considering what they could do with dialogue.
If there's a mod to play as Sherk, there's gotta be one to be able to kill ava
I'll just hope we can make our own character already ffs, not that i hated playing as the existing characters, but i prefer having my own than i can fully customise for my own preferences, that and an actuall good story for the game.
@@K_Balu I don't think that is something they can do with Borderlands, the closest we kind of got to that idea was with Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, but even that was "Here are these predetermined characters with specific abilities, you can mix and match later on, but you are always confined to these classes."
Attempting a "Here is a blank slate character, you get to choose from a wide range of abilities with talent trees; but you won't be able to choose other abilities until much later on in the game, and also you are still bound by level restrictions so you will have a set amount of points you can invest in said trees, you can get 2 of the big power ups total." would kind of break the feel of the game.

They missed a opportunity with this DLC. It was great, and i really liked the dig into Kriegs mind where you got to see things from the perspective of someone suffering mentally. I especially liked how they didn't make it overly simplified and fleshed it out. What i wonder is:
Who.
Told.
Krieg.
Maya.
Died.
That man or woman must be amazingly brave or crazy or both, because no sane person would get close to krieg as defined by how he was in borderlands 2. With the echo's it actually gives you a perspective that Krieg has attained some lucidity and the last one before you go to the DLC indicates that he was lucid more often then not.
Can you imagine how the DLC would have felt if it started with you approaching Krieg as the "messenger" of Maya's death on top of trying to find out how he ticks.
He's onboard with the experiment before he could be informed about maya and you go through the entire DLC with him lucid(maybe brief bouts of him struggling)
The time you hit the end, he's hit that happy stable as you guys buddy up and bring down his negativity.
They could have lead that up to a wham moment of him being informed:
and had him go nuts(kinda a tired trope honestly, but would make for an interesting boss fight)
or had him go "I already know" because he saw the twins broadcast and reveal hes been struggling because of that(would be a bit more of a curveball)
Instead though, we got a very vague reference to it that felt borderline in passing, and the short segment of you chasing her. Yeah, she's present throughout the DLC in image, and its clear she was very important but it felt all background outside of that segment.
Thought this dlc would shed some light into krieg's story but it just left us with more questions than answers, and more depressed.

Were the writers for the base Borderlands 3 game different from the DLCs? Because the difference in quality is really noticeable.
Handsome Jackpot is an excuse to use Jack again though I don't mind that.
Guns, Love, and Tentacles has a really good theme and it's a pleasure working for Jakobs and Hammerlock.
Bounty of Blood has a pretty good self-contained story. And that explosive scene before the end, that's a sight to behold.
Finally the Pyscho Krieg Fustercluck, though disappointingly short it gives a good insight to one of the favorite characters and give Maya more time than they gave her in the base game.
Now compare that to the what we got on the base game. I was worried when the lead writer for BL2 wasn't coming back and was sadly proven correct. They could've done so much with the Calypso Twins but it seems whoever wrote the story for that is some clueless moron who's obsessed with juvenile jokes, watched too many livestreamers, and just spinned-a-wheel which character they're going to kill off for "shock" effect.

Anthony Burch was a genius, man. To this day BL2 is one of my favorite, if not my favorite game, of all time and it’s all because of him and his ability as a writer. They need to bring him back for something in the future, assuming BL4 is in the cards.

Just finished the game, gameplay wise it was amazing, actually I’d say everything besides Ava and the Twins was very good, but the problem is they’re are prevelant as hell. It also really annoyed me that your character was conveniently absent for all the cut scenes, not sure why they made such a bad decision. The twins are probably the worst characters I’ve seen in gaming for awhile, even their motivations make no sense and they’re painfully unfunny. Now for Ava. Maya is my favorite character in the series, she was the first character I played with and because of her I’ve played all of them as a siren main. She was just so damn cool in Bl3 and then Ava showed up. I genuinely don’t get what they were going for with her but it failed miserably. Maybe they wanted a more series Tina? If that’s it then why? Tina was only so good because of moderate use of her and a damn good dlc. And they just give Ava everything for no reason, she blames other people for mayas death and the gets her powers and becomes the commander of the raiders when your character did EVERYTHING. That said I loved the story segments on Eden 6 and Prometheus, the latter being my favorite borderlands quest line ever. Rhys is great and fighting a war in the city was very fun.
Man these two's love is just amazing.
And hell they even compliment each other in BL2 with the way they play. Instant revives all round.

Krieg is a special character. Towards the end his seemingly random phrases started making more and more sense

I played krieg on my original play thru of BL2 and I loved him as a character, and when I beat BL3 there was no dlc. It made me really happy to see them give him more.
I know this dlc's ending was supposed to be heart-warming, but honestly, it just felt hollow.
what is offered is nice for krieg's story. but there's not enough content. it feels incomplete. it can't be compared to tina dlc or claptrap mind dlc which are the massive final dlc of bl 2 & 1.5.

I’ve left comments about this on other videos before, but I honestly don’t think she *had* to die. Could have had Troy drain Maya’s powers without killing her, and when he later dies her powers automatically go to Ava since she was the successor. Maya is still alive, but powerless. But alas, here we are. Also it seems pretty opened ended on whether or not this Maya is actually an imprint of the actual Maya or just Krieg’s perception, or both. So yes, all still in his head, but the Maya there may be something a bit different.
Some people say that Maya's soul is still alive within Krieg's head. When you talk to Maya after the DLC, she talks about being a siren and stuff, mainly that her memories and emotions can be stored within physical objects. In Krieg's case, the Log of their last convo.

maya's death caused by ava's naive bratty recklessness is poorly written. lilith got her power drained by troy but still alive without her power. why can't maya get the same treatment as lilith? maya could have work with zer0 to call other bl2 vault hunters back to aid the war against cov. ava could be kidnapped by the calypso twins and have ava cause friction between the twins and sabotaging the cov from inside, which will make people sympathetic to ava.
there, it isn't that hard to write bl3 main story that won't piss off fans with poorly handled major chars death, or missing bl2 vault hunters.
gearbox could have made the galactic war with cov more engaging and intense, but many corps and important chars are left hanging in the background without any role for some reason.
bl3 gameplay is excellent. but the story is the worst compared to all bl1/1.5/2.

Blands 3 dlcs were honestly so good. This one gave me everything I wanted to know but still left me wondering.
I am super fucking late to the borderlands series as a whole, but I remember playing Krieg in BL2 at my friend's place when I was younger, and he has remained my favorite character ever since. His story really hits hard man, it really does. But at the same time, it's beautiful.

Krieg’s always been my favorite, since I first got into BL2. He’s a crazy, maniacal, violent, dangerous, bloodied psycho who’s insanely fun to play on top of insanely strong
And yet he’s also one of the sweetest and most caring people in the verse and has some of the best motivation to be a vault hunter out of anyone
Cuz krieg isn’t the psycho
Krieg isn’t the sane voice
Krieg is both, and that’s important for his character
They both have their wants and needs even if psycho can’t articulate it as well as sane
And they can agree 100% on one thing and one thing only
He loves maya, psycho or sane
And maya loved him too, psycho or sane
I wish maya and the events of BL3 were handled differently, even if it still resulted in her death I’d have liked it done differently to give her a better sendoff
But Krieg’s love for maya is shown very clearly in these scenes and the interactions between Sane and Psycho are actually really wholesome as they communicate and work together for HER mere memory, and psycho’s want to protect Sane and stay whole
They came together and finally learned to be their own version of “normal” as sane learned to appreciate and care about psycho, and vice versa
Because maya did what he wanted so desperately from her in BL2
She saved him. Made him feel “normal” again.
And that’s beautiful

The story of Kreig is my favourite thing about the borderlands series. The one thing I wish was different about this, is that I wish they let Kreig go absolutely ballistic showing how powerful he really is and how much he was holding himself back, rampaging then somehow leading it back into this, remembering Maya, finding himself and what he learned from loving her. Then ending the same way it did at the end with Kreig merging into one again.

I think sane krieg isnt getting it either. Hes so hellbent on silencing psycho... and yet its the psycho side that Maya saw the most of... and partially reason why she liked him so much. The ... struggling psycho. If he was fully sane when they met? Who knows if she would even care that much. His psycho-good-hearted side is endearing. And is a reason why many like him... or fear him. I remember when this DLC came out and there was the oddest of shift towards people bashing this entire thing. Re-watching this clip now (thank you for sharing this, GoodGamez, your namesake doesn't lie) I really cannot find anything but a few steady tears to see the care they put into showing the character of Krieg. Borderlands 3 was a true mess, but I really hope these moments aren't lost when the 4th game comes around. I still hold very deeply in my mind about Krieg telling us to keep fighting out demons and getting stronger. I didn't realize it back when, but it means so much more to me now. It's bit funny to me because i played like krieg in BO2 and played with my mother (that choose maya) and we were a good team tho! I finished the game like two times but she never get to see roland's fate...
Now that i see maya and krieg stuff it gives me a smile of the moments i had with her.
I would really like Krieg to return as a playable character. Not in Borderlands 3, of course, because he deserves more than that garbage. I would love to see him become more in unity between his two personalities. Like the sane Krieg saying what he would normally do, just always extremely pissed off and screaming. Or Insane Krieg saying normal bandit nonsense in Sane Krieg's voice.
This game franchise was sad, like first time I actualy felt genuine sadness over a character when Roland died I teared up, but then gearbox go and make this DLC which just broke me, as it resonated with me so much I had lost my wife to a drunk driver and what I wouldn't give to see her again, I was in tears when this released

I think they should make a vault that houses all the powers of dead sirens and inside they live as if they never died. But the vault erases their memories and can only be unlocked by them experiencing something from their past. Kreig, now who has brief moments of sanity, uses his sane moments to try and hunt down the legendary vault and then insane Kreig is constantly visiting planets to find. While searching for the legendary vault your new vault hunter runs into krieg who orginally thinks you're trying to steal vault from him making you fight him, after the fight sane krieg comes out and explains the situation while Ava just arrives and breaks into tears because she sent you to the vault to also bring her back. Inside the vault you run into Handsome Jacks daughter who becomes the boss.of the vault and hates you because all she can remember or knows is that you killed her dad. After you kill her she remembers how bad Jack was and then dies. Ava apologizes for getting her killed and Krieg is reunited with her, she then makes a bad joke about "not making vault hunters like they use to" hunting at how this new vault hunter required help to find the vault and she accepts Avas apology, krieg realizes that Ava got her killed and Sane Krieg and insane Krieg begin to fight each other over control one wanting to kill Ava and one forgiving Ava. Your character has to make a choice and if they let Krieg try.to Kill Ava then you get a bad ending of Kreig being outlasted by the crimson raiders and Ava surviving but if you don't let him try to.Kill ava then all remains calm and you get a charm that.looks like Krieg's axe and a Pycho skin for your character.
I'm not hating Ava, she didnt do anything. Even if she is bad as character. She cried after Maya, you remember?
The timing of 6:17 was solid gold
Man, that expansion brought a tear to my eyes more than once, it's incredibly deep, the soundtrack was way overboard as well.
It's a goddamn masterpiece.
