And now with Krieg's DLC being going into his mind instead of a continuation of this relationship somehow, we will never get to see the full effect of this relationship. Heck they could have still done a Vaulthalla by Krieg or Maya having to chase the other down who went to or was kidnapped and brought to Valthalla. This is the last planned DLC after all, Krieg being my boy since his first reveal this hurts me soooo much, his redemption arc most likely being murdered to make what from trailer looks like a standard "ooohhh look at the crazy mad psycho" treatment..... I really hope not.

@@adamtobroxen3709 Not to spoiler you but you must have watched the trailer for it. Maya has a portrait in the trailer. She's also on the poster for it. I'm thinking she's not dead after all somehow? We'll find out soon for sure and don't quote me. But why would they tease us like that otherwise?
I love how at the end, when Maya is talking to Krieg, Krieg is just insane rambling and Maya’s like completely getting it. It’s really sweet.
You fight an evil corporation with someone and you can get what they're thinking fairly componently
I mean, if you listen to it a couple of times, you can grasp what he means pretty well. I guess the point is that she took the time to learn how to understand him (same with the other VHs he worked with too), and that's what really makes their conversation impactful.

In GTA IV, I love Lil Jacob but I couldn't understand a fuckin word he ever said when I first met him. Even with subtitles, I could only guess what he meant with varying degrees of accuracy. But now, I feel it's almost effortless to understand exactly what he's saying

probably the most interesting character in all of the games, yet he's treated like an afterthought. i find that to be the most tragic thing about all of this.
he genuinely has a lot of potential for a dlc/story in general but the new writers are just so intolerable that they would of course ignore krieg. the thing that annoys me is that they are not ignoring dlc characters as a whole (timothy was brought back likely because of handsome jack, b:tps mechromancer is in holodome), but they are really just ignoring krieg exclusively. a few echo logs does not cut it

An after thought? He has got more acknowledgement than Salvador or Axton. All we know of Axton is he poses nude for magazines and Salvador has a drinking problem.
Fred Baggs he actually was supposed to be a major character in the main story of the game as far as unused audio files show. He seemed to be an undercover agent infiltrating the children of the vault to gather information. Later he would help taking down Maliwan and was supposed to be there at the end. And it might be the case Ava was introduced instead of Krieg and that they saved him for DLC4
Imagine if Kreig was there to witness Maya’s death... the story would’ve ended right there with a giant sawblade in both of the calypsos

Since we're going into his brain for DLC 4...Very likely, We saw Vic get resurrected from just a severed head.
It would be sweet that at the end of the dlc, Maya's voice is now in Krieg's mind and replaces the insane Krieg, getting his sanity back and listening to Maya for the rest of his life.

i literally *just* came to this conclusion; krieg and his sane alter ego is 90% similar to the characters Dog and God from Fallout: New Vegas' Dead Money DLC. and it was my favorite inter-character conflict of that DLC. you make Dog/God realize the other part of themselves they misunderstand is only a part of the whole Being that is that nightkin. i particularly love the water analogy that you can use to convince him to become one. and, like Dog/God going through their crucible caused by the courier, Krieg is going to go through his own crucible at the reveal of Maya's death and become better... or should i say, Deadlier. well, that, or he's going to fully go psycho.

The psycho is a subpersonality. A part of the mind that breaks of and tried to amnesify troubling memories. This is talked about by people like Zen Buddhists. His psycho personality does exactly that. Kreig is an example of a character while seemingly terrifying, is actually the most introspective and moralistic of all, but is caught in an internal battle with the consequences of his past, the karma he experiences for the bad things he did (not without a good reason). He is meraphorically at the stage of ash in the life cycle of the phoenix. He had his power taken away and given to a lunatic and he understands that that is what he deserved. once he purifies and reintegrates the pschyo subpersonality, he would regain the talents that were lost to it. Then once he defeats his shadow self he fully gains back his power as he can now use them responsibly as he is a new man, born from the ashes, the Eternal Firehawk. CMON Gearbox!!!!

If there's ever a Borderlands 4 and the story at least seems to follow these events...I genuinely wouldn't be shocked if Krieg is one of the primary antagonists. I was actually thinking similarly about Dog/God in Dead Money. In the same way that the Slab King turned out to be Brick, I could see some other warlord being Krieg. If they actually make the story branching, then maybe the PC decisions can dictate if he's a threat or not.

Krieg isn't practicing these lines for Maya. I've said this numerous times on other comments, but Krieg has always had a woman/girl he met before Maya that he wants to reunite with, but the last time they saw eachother the woman/girl freaked out at his new self and tried to murder him, hence he's trying to practice lines like "Don't be afraid". Those lines he's trying to get his other self to say and not for maya, and he's not doing it for Maya. *none* of it is for maya.
@@mitchgodman I definitely wouldnt say none of it was for Maya. If it wasnt for Maya, Kreig would have been killed and his sane self would have never had the chance of overtaking his insane self. He also clearly states that Maya is the most beautiful person hes ever seen.
I'm expecting the news of Maya's death to hit Krieg in one of three ways: He loses what little progress has been made and goes on one hell of a rampage across Pandora and probably has to be put down, he mourns Maya in the only way he can; through killing everything that even remotely resembles a bandit, or he just shuts down and either Tina or Ava has to console him. I'm banking on Tina, since she seems to get along with him very well, but I'm expecting Ava, since she was Maya's apprentice and has Maya's powers now.
I hope Krieg gets some serious writing for this. Tina got an entire DLC exploring her coping process over Roland's passing, Krieg just lost one of the few anchors he had to sanity. This should absolutely not be glossed over.

Edit: Imagine going to through a DLC, where the story is to hunt down Krieg and either try to calm or kill him because of your option 1. Krieg functioning as the final boss of the DLC. Tbh here, why would "everything be sunshine and roses" on pandora? That'd be a rather tragic GoT like take on things and a punch to the guts for most of the players. Still an interesting choice and impactful storytelling if done right.
All in all i doubt it tho, seeing how they "killed" Maya out of nowhere with no buildup of her or any storyarc. It simply felt so cheap for shockfactor and killed off my favorite character. Cheers Gearbox

The real question is how many bandits get the buzz axe once he finds out what happened to Maya. I have a feeling that for once Sane Krieg and Psycho Krieg will be in perfect agreement.

When they learn about Maya I believe Sane Krieg is going to take full control of their body and be even more dangerous then Psycho Krieg is.
I wonder what he'll think of Ava. She was Maya's apprentice and now has her powers along with her tome.
Maybe he finds out about Maya dieing and his inner voice let's the crazy side run wild going on a slaughter. Maybe Sal or Axton call Lilith only to find shes dead and though a DLC we build towards him as a boss only to spare him after the fight and Ava gives him something to fight for again?
Mason Williams maybe Psycho Krieg will become the inner voice and Sane Krieg will become the one in charge and try to kill Ava and our job will be to stop him and inwardly Psycho Krieg will have to stop Sane Krieg from making a choice he’ll regret?

Or worse the sane and the psycho combine,meaning he can now think rationally but he'll still have his psychotic dangerous tendencies so he can now strategically plan and rationally think and speak while also being able to literally rip you in half and is nearly unstoppable. Or another cool idea is that the roles reverse, whild the psycho would be upset he is not exactly bright so he would probably move on but sane Krieg would probably go mad from pain guilt and rage taking control of the body and wanting revenge making him even more dangerous and it's up to Psycho to help him get under control.
I do see Krieg taking the news very badly, but I don't see him hurting Ava. She's someone Maya cared about, and a child to boot, so I think he'll firmly count her as an innocent even if her recklessness put Maya in the danger that got her killed. Instead, I see him running off and directing his buzz-axe and rage towards what's left of the *bad* people responsible for Maya's death: the Children of the Vault, Maliwan, etc... So, still refusing to kill the innocent, but now with both sides of Krieg united in wanting to violently kill bad people instead of Sane Krieg simply being resigned to it, and being all the more dangerous because they're working together instead of opposing each other. And if his other friends stage an intervention, I'd see it being more about saving him from himself and bringing him home than about saving anyone from him.

Big oof. Krieg was my favorite character to play in B2, hearing him slowly getting his sanity back is bittersweet since he mostly did it for Maya.
If they decide to do a DLC with him, I'm expecting the sane personality will completely take over, but be completely obsessed with revenge.

They missed the perfect opportunity for Troy to start to recover from the attack and krieg jump down and just start smashing with his buzz saw.
Krieg is most likely on Pandora somewhere. and that gag reel of maya getting dusted is getting spammed over tv's. and the cov radio station kept talking about her dying. so i imagine Krieg should've been looking for vengeance someplace. ironically the mission to konrads pass for tannis's eridium injector could just as easily have been a mission to retrieve Krieg so he can get you into the fight with Troy. it would have made for a decent bonus objective to recruit Krieg as an ally for the troy boss fight
In exchange for these two being together and Krieg finally recovering and being happy, we got... Ava.... Was it worth it Gearbox? Was it?

Everyone far as I can tell. I hated how obvious it was foreshadowed. Soon as I saw Ava's attitude I knew she would be responsible for something bad that would happen in game. I hope gearbox realize their huge mistake with how all that was handled. Terrible writing.
I don't like Tyreen at all...but I really, really, REALLY wish she would have backhanded her a lot more harder than she did. Into one of those stone walls, instead of taking her hostage. Only reason Maya even touched Troy was to level the odds when Tyreen did...and...yeah.

Lilith should've expected the twins and sent out some sort of distress beacon/anything, Maya should've expected her to not stay on the ship willingly and have someone watch her room. Personally, he's like the most empathetic character for me, I really hope there is a DLC with him shown after Maya's death, that would make Maya's death so much more saddening for me, if he was in the campaign alongside her when she died her death would've meant a lot more I reckon. Such a good character, his reveal trailer is like the best vid gearbox has made in regards to borderlands.

With Maya's death, the heartbreak is either going to allow the human version of Krieg to take back control or it's going to push him away forever and allow psycho Krieg to take over. The whole chat between Krieg and Maya gave me hope but her death broke my heart, she's gone and Krieg may never be happy again.

For this case, Jack is not a pile of ash. Now if they were to still do something with her it is possible we could find, say, pre-recorded Echos of Maya she made when she felt she would die soon because Sirens I guess or something but she's probably still gonna be pretty dead.
Imagine if one of the DLC's for this game was based around Krieg's revenge for Maya, doing something absolutely ridiculously violent, and vengeful for the one he loved most.
It would be fun if you have an entire dlc playing as Krieg going psychopathic on the remainder of the children of the vault
