  • This tutorial will show you had to add more space to your Classic system using a USB flash drive. Very useful since the systems are really limited on space. Hope it was helpful!

    If someones USB will not be recognized, try another USB stick. I had a cheap stick what was not recognized from the SNES mini and i found on the internet, that there is even a list with stick which are working and which are not. I tried a different USB stick from Sandisk and this one is working.
    And thank you for your videos, Patton. They are the best hakchi videos on youtube.

    I got a usual Mini USB Hub (not micro USB) with power Plug of 5V 2A. Then all you have to do is just to find a Mini USB cable with additional Power Plug. This type of cables can be used with older USB HHDs or with some of external USB CD drives and some other hardware (or costs you $1). You also need a usual Micro USB OTG Cable (i just got 1 for less than $1 - 50 Roubles) Connect the Mini USB cable to your hub and plug its "second end" (for additional power) to a port of your USB HUB. Plug in the flashdrive (with exported games) to your USB HUB. Plug in OTG cable into your (S)NES Classic. Now connect the Mini USB cable to OTG cable and switch on the console. Magic! it works! :)

    Thank you for the very clear instructions, Patton. As a Mac user, I haven't gone down the Hakchi rabbit hole yet. Please forgive what may be a very obvious question. Does the SNES mini need to be hacked to run this? Given it's booting from the USB, it looks like it might just be using the SNES mini hardware, and not going anywhere near the system? Thank you.

The system only turns on half the time while using the adapter and when it does turn on its only for a few seconds then powers off. Im using original everything. Also when I plug the OTG adapter into the PC using a cord, the PC doesnt recognize that its extra storage. Is there a fix or do I need another OTG adapter?

    Good video, and simple. Do you have any idea why sometimes my extra games show up, but other times they don’t? I tried different power bricks like you suggested. But it doesn’t seem to be consistent even with those. Maybe it’s the octopus adapter that I’m using this flaky. I don’t know.

    • @PattonPlays

      It cannot access them both at the same time, but if you leave the OTG plugged in WITHOUT inserting a USB drive to it, it will boot to the internal storage on the SNES.

      What about your save-files? Will they also get transferred to the usb flashdrive? What happens if you play without the flashdrive again? Do the save-files get saved on the mini as well or will they just be saved on the flashdrive?
      Example: I play Zelda 1 on my hacked snes and then transfer everything to the flashdrive. Can I continue where I left off? Also if I play without flashdrive afterwards, will my progress be lost?

    A few questions:
    So when you export your games should the snes classic be disconnected from your PC?
    Also, when you export does that just delete the games from the snes hardware?
    What happens to the original 21 games when you export?

    • @PattonPlays
      @PattonPlays  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The original 21 games stay on the system no matter what you do. Even if you don't sync them. I don't believe it matters if the system is connected to your PC at the same time as your flash drive. Just as long as you pick the correct drive letter for the drive.

    Thanks Patton. I want SNES and MD/Genesis Roms load from the internal storage and PSX games from the external USB drive. If I select all importet games in the hakchi2 games list and click on "Export games", all files will be copied to the USB drive. If I export only the PSX games to the USB device, the SNES Mini shows me only these titles, but no SNES/MD games. My third attempt was to deactivate the PSX games (linked to USB) in hakchi2 and click "Synchronize selected games" to copy SNES/MD titles only. But now my SNES Mini just shows me the SNES/MD games. Therefore, I guess that it is not possible tu use both the internal and external storage together? Am I wrong? Thank you!

    • @tomhackett3395

      depends on how many games you want to have and how much space they take up. An 8 or 16gb flash drive should be plenty of room for most situations. 32 or 64 gb if you want to have a lot of large ROMs.

    What am I missing ?

    • @tomhackett3395
      @tomhackett3395 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes you have to adjust the command line settings within hakchi to get the games to launch. Make sure you've also got the most recent version of retroarch, and the module core for the system you want to emulate installed on your system. Right click on the game in the list and do "Select emulation core" and select the core that you're using.
      If you're just playing SNES games that aren't included normally you should try unzipping the ROMS and making sure you add just the uncompressed ROM to confirm if that will work. hakchi does give an option to compress ROMs for you, that's good for some systems but not for all.

  • @popandroid
    @popandroid 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    good luck saving/retrieving saved games after you Hakchi-ify your mini...if you're really in the middle of a long game etc and it'd take you forever to get back to where you are, I'd suggest leaving the power on to be safe.

    I have a question, if I only install Nes and Snes games, they will be emulated by the native nes/snes mini emulator? Or they will use the hackchi?
    By the way I see the NBA Hangtime in your games, I hope to see the "will run on SNES classic" of that one.
    Thanks for all Patton, best wishes.

    • @PattonPlays
      @PattonPlays  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you're on NESC and install NES games they will run with the native emulator. If on SNESC, SNES games will run with the native emulator. On the flip side, you will need retroarch for NES games on the SNES Classic, and SNES9x with retroarch for SNES games if on the NES Classic. There is no individual NES emulator, it is packed in with the retroarch core. Hakchi is just a program for modding your system and isn't an emulator or anything.
      And yeah I was working on the next N64 video but I was having issues with it so I have to record it again -_-.

    I have a 4 port usb cable attachment that has a power cable in it. When i plug the snes cord into one of the slots the snes classic gets power. Can i plug the flash drive into one of the other ports and the snes classic read like that? Is it possible?
    Actually thinking about it no its not going to work. I need to be able to plug the "out" plug of the 4 port usb drive. Into the SNES classic itself. So im going to need to buy another one of those plugs from somewhere. Probably bestbuy or something.

    Hackchi 3.8 is out now and I finally got my USB in the mail to do this.....I tried to do it yesterday, but the computer wouldn't read my usb while connected to the snes and computer...Instead, the other video I watched said to just plug the usb into the computer and save everything that way, but the video isn't specific enough in it's steps where I feel safe trying to duplicate it.....Can anyone assist me if you've had this problem as well?

    So it doesn't requires to create folders on the flash drive or install a hmod to use external storage anymore?
    It's just that simple?
    What happens to RetroArch? The hmods (cores) and the config are saved on the internal memory ?

    I copyied my whole SNES folder with games into Hakchi by doing "Add more Games" after that i did "export games" to my USB drive. But..... the games stay also in my Hakchi folder on the laptop, is that true ? so i have the games exported to the USB, and they also stay at the hakchi folder on my laptop. Is that normal to have them both on USB and Laptop ? Sorry for my (maybe) bad English.

      You can use a snes controller for Genesis. With some remapping you can use it with N64 games as well. Otherwise there are 3rd party controllers you can look into.

    • @PattonPlays
      @PattonPlays  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @DarkLordPrime
      @DarkLordPrime 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Turns out I was misunderstanding your instructions. I thought I was supposed to be connecting the OTG to the NES and the USB cable from the PC and the USB drive to the OTG, and Hakchi would work with the drive and the NES like that.
      I finally realized what I was doing wrong, and now it's all good. :)
