How to add storage to your NES and SNES Classic with an OTG Adapter and Hakchi CE (2019 Tutorial)

  • Since the NES and SNES Classics have very little space to add more games, the Hakchi CE Developers made it possible to increase your storage using an OTG adapter. The adapters can be used for more than just added storage, you can also attach a wifi adapter for online gaming , or more USB Controllers for 3 and 4 player games!
    **THE NEW MODELS OF THE INATEK ADAPTERS NO LONGER APPEAR TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH THE SYSTEMS. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED YOU USE THESE ADAPTERS WITH THE MINIS!**

    Great video Patton! I actually prefer using an L-shape OTG adapter. You are right though in that you really need to be mindful of the stress being put on the power port. Luckily for me, my console lives in a dedicated stress free environment.

    Hey Patton! I love your videos as they have helped me out a TON! If I may make a couple of suggestions (in regards to the PS Classic)...
    1.) Make a 'how to' for PSP games.
    2.) Actually, just keep making 'how to' videos for each system while continuing to tell us the best core to use.
    3.) Could you please, in a roundabout way, point us to the best place to obtain necessary bios files. Some search results are waaaaay too shady.
    4.) Show us how to add thumbnails properly.
    5.) Lastly, create a playlist on your channel dedicated specifically to each console for 'how to add systems' to these consoles. It'll be way easier and better rather than having to sift through all the videos.
    Thanks for all you upload and the information you share 👍🏼

      If you're not familiar with the channel it's pretty much what I do. Bios files are like roms, you will have to locate them on your own. And I have a playlist already made for Playstation Classic hacking.

    In the end of the video you show the original games on TV there and then you connect USB thing to the SNES Classic and turn it on, what happened to the original games? Your TV don't seem to show them.
    When you connect the flash drive, does the menu only show the flash drive games, not at all the games in the machine?
    What about pages and folders? If one has lots of games in the flash drive, sure they also need to be divided into folders or pages to avoid errors. Can divide the games in the flash drive into pages?

  • @francois5591
    @francois5591 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Patton, you should add a warning concerning the Inateck adapter, apparently the last versions are not working with the snes mini (just found some comments about that on reddit). Just got one after seeing your video, but impossible to start the snes, the light does not come up. The Inateck light is on tho, so juice is coming. Instead of the TV USB I also tried to pump the juice of the Inateck hub by putting the charge on a strong wall socket outlet, no luck either. Now I'm going for another hub (I already got the L Shape adapter, it's working, but sometimes you have to reboot 10 times to make it work so it's not good in the end). My 2 cents. Thanks for your vids anyway, very useful!

    • @PattonPlays

    Quick question. Why is it when the flash drive is plugged in and the system is turned on, the original games are not available? Shouldn't the menu system show all games available on either the internal memory or the flash at the same time? I'm a bit surprised...I would have expected something like a USB folder on the screen you could choose which then contained the games on the flash drive.

    • @PattonPlays
      @PattonPlays  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way the drive is mounted you can only choose between the two. The drive overrides the internal storage.

    • @WRILLI4M

The only way I found to "put" the games on my flash drive was inserting the drive directly to my pc USB. Then syncing with Hakchi. And after that ( I installed a lot pc-engine cd and arcades on 64GB) the loading time becomes extremely slow. The start up taking 5-6 minutes ( or more)!! Why is that? Is the mods? I don't get it. Call me a noob but does it mean that if you use the adapter with a flash card (or similar) you can play all the games you want while it's plugged in. But at the same time keeping your SNES mini's soft- and hardware original? I ask this because I don't want to alter my original SNES mini's software but do want to 'hack' it to play different games.

      No, you still need to flash the system.

      Yes it can, if you're using the Inatek brand unfortunately those are no longer supported.

    For some reason it's giving me a C8 error whenever I try to go into a folder, anybody know why?

    • @Itsfayd
      @Itsfayd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Too many games in the folder. Put a max of 60 games in each folder

      @jamiemorgan3649 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Itsfayd wasn't that because I set it to just 45. I think the left angle dongle I bought doesn't work right because my system recognized it once and than not again after that. And I tried multiple different USB stick. But I think it's easier to just put games on the actual system that I'll actually play because I can still keep other games in my laptop and just switch them out here and there.

      Ismael Tirado I heard something with the hakchi on the usb if you delete the save folder that allows you to use the console as saved but I don’t know if that keeps the save states. I been looking into this cause I wouldn’t mind if the usb had the games where the mini has the save states as long as it keeps the save states I already have
