I think it's a strong possibility that doll in end they beat up wasn't really chucky, that was a minion he was using. The real one was the box with the glowing eyes watching it all happen.

I believe they killed 2 different dolls. The second didn't have a stab wound. Yes I believe that was Chucky at the end.

    • @demarcol15
      @demarcol15 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah ive been saying the same because if I'm correct the first doll was stabbed and the second that was shot had on new clothes. I think it was one of those "you won this time but I'll be back" moments because I'm sure he seen the detective coming on camera

@@demarcol15 You peeped that too. A lot of people that reviewed it didn't notice that there were 2 dolls. I believe Chucky was in the box at the end because he put himself in the box earlier when he went to the other boy.

My favorite part is probably the most random for people, but I really like one specific moment. It's when Andy and Chucky are playing the board game and Chucky does something to make Andy smile and Chucky smiles back and does this thing where he makes the cutest face while also saying yay I'm awesome throwing his arm up. Just the innocence and fun like in that moment, like E.T., and then right back to dark.

My favorite scene was when chucky brought Andy the popsicle tick with the bow on it. It was adorable and showed how much he loved Andy. Another favorite I believe is When Andy locked him in the room and chucky was like I don’t understand what i did wrong and he was torn apart that Andy basically just leaves him in the dark room like a bad pet that pisses off the owner simply by being itself. It was really sad. I almost cried, lol. The way he was looking and you just see Andy in the background not even acknowledging him. It really adds layers as to why chucky wanted to open him up to see what he was dealing with.

The kills were creative because they had to be due to copyright and them not being able to even reuse kills from current Chucky movies, the director spoke of this in an interview.
He mentioned how the boyfriends head was originally just going to be decapitated but since it happens in Cult, they couldn't use it so they worked around it with the watermelon which was really creative in my opinion.
The only negative I'd say that it had was it felt too short, it feels like a lot of stuff was cut out (which the trailers showed) that could have added a few more layers.
But besides that, I enjoyed it. I loved how they managed to make you feel bad for Chucky and somewhat sympathize with him even in the end.

My friend Cameron and I watched Texas Chainsaw 2 (not knowing what we were gonna expect seeing Child’s Play) literally four days before seeing this movie. Seeing that homage in this movie was such a special and gratifying experience for both of us, I’m glad we weren’t going crazy thinking it was a true reference lol.

My favorite scene was a flash in the pan. When they were in the toy store and chucky is making the big screen go nuts. You see the old man saying "Time to" and then Chucky pops up on the screen for a second "Play!"
I didn't much care for the fact that I felt bad for Chucky pretty much throughout the film.
And finally, great review. But the Maintenance Guy was hanging by his hands on a steam pipe. Not his neck. Chucky used his new found ability to connect to the thermostat and cranked up the heat until Maintenance Guys hands started to burn.

  • @AspieMediaBobby

Andy`s not the villain either. The true villains are the Vietnamese employee who turned Chucky`s safety protocols off because he was tired of being treated like shit by his boss(As well as the boss whose abuse made him angry enough to pull a stunt like that) and decided if he was going down,he`d take the whole company with him even if it meant endangering an innocent family halfway across the world in the process and Gabe, the pervy hacker/janitor, who reactivated Chucky`s ability to connect to Kaslan products to spy on Andy`s mom in the shower!

It reminded me of Small Soldiers quite a bit, with more gore. I had a good time with it. Hard to imagine Andy getting another doll so I wonder how he and his mom could tie in to a sequel. Maybe while Chucky was controlling the other dolls and had access to the cloud he removed all the safety protocols so theoretically we could get a "Chucky" out of any number of dolls in the future.

Dude! I said the same thing the other day while talking about this movie! Andy is definitely the villain here! It’s so rare that you feel for the villain of a slasher flick moreso than you do his victims. It’s an angle that really worked for me, and I loved the movie because of it!

I loved this film and I really liked the emotional aspects of the film, there were times where I found myself feeling bad for chucky and I really liked that. I did enjoy the performances as well, Mark Hamill and Aubrey Plaza, but Gabriel Bateman really a standout to me, he sold it with all the scences he was in especially the emotional ones, hope he gets more roles. I really hope this film gets a sequel because there is so much that can be explored. Anyways, enjoyed your review and keep up the great work.

This movie was surprisingly entertaining and it makes you feel bad for Chucky cause basically confused in the world and the reason why he was bad because of the people around him . Basically a message to be careful what you expose your children . But I really love the theme songs made by Bear MCcreay very hyper and addictive. ( Y’all realize Plaza played crazy characters this is a calm down role to her )

My only downside to this movie was that towards the end the concept of chucky using an army of Buddi 2s arises and goes away almost immediately. I really hope in a sequel it keeps the buddi factory setting from Childs Play 2 and we get various Buddis in different stages of completion going ham
Also. I said to my girlfriend the night before that i was excited to see Chucky on the big screen and one day hopefully I'll get to see Jason and Leatherface too as they're my favourites so the TCM2 scene was fucking amazing for me and I'm totally counting it. Just Jason to go now

I don’t know how to describe my feelings for this movie. I didn’t hate it, but I definitely didn’t love it. It was an “o.k.”movie....a very loose ok. I went into the movie ready to enjoy a reboot. My biggest issue is that there were too many nods to the original that didn’t quite land for me. 1. Why did Chucky call himself Chucky? The movie is called Child’s Play, not Chucky. They changed good guy to buddi so why couldn’t his name have been something else? Him not knowing anything else, but knowing to call himself Chucky was bogus. 2. Why was Andy hearing impaired? There were maybe three times (I think) that Chucky communicated to Andy through the hearing aid. Other than that, it was a moot point. 3. Detective Mike was EXTREMELY underutilized. And was that a nod to the semi-romantic relationship of the OG characters at the end? 4. Detective Mike coming back to save them was also a miss, they should’ve done something else especially with how cool that sequence was. Those are some things that I wanted to point out. I wish that this movie would’ve stayed away from the nods and took more time separating itself from the original. The a.i. Aspect of this movie gave them an awesome opportunity to just go off on its own. As I mentioned, the movie is called Child’s Play, they should’ve just told a horrifying story about another killer toy. All new characters with subtle homages would’ve sold me. I think a lot of the people that loved this movie just loved that it didn’t totally suck and that it brought back the characters (mostly in name only). Also, the sequel should do what Halloween 3 did and give us a movie that’s just some crazy funhouse ride about toys and technology. I don’t want to see buddi Chucky aka ‘Bucky’ (which is what I’m going to call him from now on) anymore. With all that being said, again, I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it. On a higher note, I liked the comedy, I liked the idea of bucky learning to be evil, I loved Andy’s acting and I liked the musical theme (not the buddi song). Thanks for the review. I’m heading over to Cody’s page to leave this exact same comment. Lol. Also, which reviewers hated the movie? I’d like to hear their thoughts.

I’m giving this movie a score of 7/10. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I expected and it’s because this movie felt rushed and there wasn’t enough violence for me to enjoy this but I did enjoy Andy’s relationship with Chucky. And I also which the movie was longer so we can get to know the characters better.

I am firmly in the camp of people who don't give a shit about this franchise, and I enjoyed this movie. A lot of fun, and Mark Hammill did a great job.

Hey Lee another great example of a remake that took the same basic idea and put a great fresh spin on it was The Fly. The Fly remake instead of a teleportation accident with a Fly that resulted in body parts of man and fly getting swapped it changed it to a DNA fusion which gave it a whole new fresh interesting spin. The Fly and Child’s Play, 2 great examples of how to do a remake

I thought that it was better than the Original, but it wasn’t as good as Child’s Play 2. I felt like a broken record saying that on killer flix today with all the Child’s Play posts lol

Also, I really enjoyed the movie.
If i had to point out something I didn’t like, Andy’s friends are pointless.
If you take them away and let Andy be completely alone outside of his mother and Chucky; I think it would have made for more of a connection to the doll.
The friends honestly take away from the tension.

@The Eternal Induction They had enough character development, particularly their unwitting role in Chucky`s further corruption in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 scene Lee mentioned in this video(The initial corruption of course being at the hands of the disgruntled Vietnamese employee who removed his safety protocols because he was sick of being treated like shit by his boss and decided if he was going down, he'd take the whole company with him even if it meant recklessly endangering an innocent family halfway across the world in the process). and banding together to take down Chucky Pennywise-style at the end(Even though we know that wasn`t the real Chucky that was killed and New Chucky A.I. nature means he can just transfer himself into another defective Kaslan doll which obviously is what happened!)

I hold no attachment to the original, but I have seen the first 3 movies. I thought Brad Doruf was a great Chucky. I am pleased that Mark Hamil went with the more sympathetic yet murderous route where Chucky was very sympathetic. I found myself going "I'll be your friend" during the movie... and it was sad that this broken Chucky doll seen as inferior gets attached to Andy.
The route they went was very very nice. I was scared that this would be a shitty remake but it's not even in that vein. It's different, and in it's own way, Mark probably knew he wouldn't be able to touch Brad's legendary performance, so he went in a different direction.
If anything... I am glad it was Mark Hamil... cause than we get the Joker.. .and he already is such a great voice actor. If it was a nobody, it probably wouldn't have been as good!
There were also times I saw myself in Andy (bad phrasing!!!) as he had difficulty making friends and seemed to like being by himself, something that I am very much still suffering through... The bad stuff that was happening was mainly "Be careful what you wish for" and "Youthful stupidity"
But that made it more enjoyable and darkly funny when Chucky replayed his words back to him. This kid was amazing! The kid stole my damn line from me at the beginning. I was literally thinking "That's not creepy at all" the same time he said it himself.

I think this is my favourite movie so far this year, and don't think it will be beaten for me. For example, I expected endgame to be good, however I was worried for child's play and I was really hoping this would be good. Kept the open mind going in to cinema and put aside original Chucky for duration of movie, and absolutely loved it as a result. Really hope it gets a sequel, it deserves one

I thought the way that chucky got his name in this movie was very lazy, in the original it was chucky lee ray inside the doll but in this movie the doll just randomly wants to be named chucky?

Well, tonight, saw Toy Story 4 and Child's Play. Toy Story 4 got a C from me, Child's Play got a B-. Shows which one I liked better, and I feel, if they 100% put it as it's own, dropped the Chucky, dropped the Child's Play, and just simply went 100% their own movie, easy A. It's that latching onto the franchise that hurt it I felt.

I watched it the other day. The first 30 mins I was not a fan. Once I separated myself from the orginal I really started to enjoy it. What I found especially creepy was how much Chucky cared for Andy. All tge stuff he did was because he wanted to help Andy.
