Sequals are very cheesey, tounge and cheek, and even down right wierd. Still love them though, probably my favourite "modern day" slasher franchise, unless of course Art the clown gets a franchise 7 movies deep 🤤

This was one of the first horror movies I saw when I was a younger teenager. I loved it. I actually own it and have watched it many times. Sure, I have 'nostalgia goggles' on, but whatever, I truly like it, even if it is somewhat corny.
I can watch this movie every year. Love the setting. West Virginia is one of the most beautiful states (I know it wasn't actually filmed there). Eliza Dushku is great.
Part 2 is decent. Part 4 was kinda cool. The rest are bad, but I still enjoyed them. I own all 6 on Blu-ray. I’d call the franchise a guilty pleasure, but I don’t feel guilty at all! Love the review. I can’t wait to see your review of the remake
I think Cecil from Goodbadflicks said it best with the first Wrong Turn being a tribute to slow burn horror of the 70's and Wrong Turn 2 homaging the high octane Splatter fun of the horror movies of the Eighties.

I always have a lot of fun with this one. The characters, the kills, the timing all work really well throughout the movie. I remember when this first came out and there was a lot of buzz about horror going back to movies like TCM, between this and 1000 Corpses and it was really awesome to see something like that on the big screen again. It also came out before the TCM remake so it had a fresh feeling to it at the time. It’s a shame the series became very derivative over time though.

I think the hillbillies were very effective in this movie. The overall feel of this movie was very 70s/80s. It heavily reminded me of Just Before Dawn. It had a very similar colour pallette. And also, mixed in with great acting.
Yes Joe Lynch did a great job. I've watched also the director commentary on it. You can tell how much of a fan Joe is of horror. Hes like a kid in a candy store
First one is AMAZING!! Haven't really given the sequels a fair chance, but like you I have a feeling they don't compare!! Watched it literally the other night...and I agree with you about Hills Have Eyes being one if THE best remakes to date!! 👌 Awesome stuff
Eliza Dushku did a lot of her own stunts for the movie. Emmanuelle Chriqui dislocated her shoulder performing her fall through the trees. You can hear her shoulder pop on the production track in the theatrical sound mix. Several of the cast and crew were covered in poison ivy throughout the filming of the movie, this was due to the chairs being placed in what was first thought to be a group of weeds only later to be discovered as a patch of the rash causing plants. The female lead character, Jessie Burlingame, was named after the heroine in Stephen King's novel, "Gerald's Game". The only film in the series that does not contain any sex or nudity. Screenwriter Alan B. McElroy also penned the script for the reboot Wrong Turn (2021). As written in the original script, the characters were in their late 20s. However, they were made younger in order for the film to appeal to younger audiences. The promotion for this film was minimal due to the MPAA deeming the majority of TV Spots and Trailers "Too Intense" for the viewers. Even the commercials that were aired were heavily trimmed. Director Rob Schmidt said on the commentary that he considers this film to be his own personal tribute to the classics like Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and Hills Have Eyes (1977). Into pre-production when McElroy had decided to drop the idea of Chris Flynn's victim company being late twenties adults in order to attract the Teenage Slasher Horror crowd he set Jesse Burlingame, her best friend Carly and other friends to the age of 19, setting them as college teenagers still in their freshmen year of higher education. The decision came about when referring to the scripted opening of the film in which rock climbing college teenage couple Halley and Rich are subsequently killed by the Mountain Men. Chris's car was a 1967 Ford Mustang. Throughout the film, Eliza Dushku is wearing a White shirt with the Albanian two-headed eagle emblem. Saw-Tooth, One-Eye, and Three-Fingers pickup truck is a 1948 Dodge B-Series. Kevin Zegers and Lindy Booth appeared together again in Dawn of the Dead (2004) During one of the last scenes in the movie, Eliza Dushku actually set actor Julian Richings (Three Finger) on fire. When the four are running from the cabin after awakening the mountain men, Desmond Harrington broke his right ankle after landing on the opposite side of a log. This made it very difficult to shoot some of the scenes after his left leg is "shot" and he has to limp on his right leg. BODY COUNT: 10 (Rich Stoker, Halley Smith, Evan, Francine, Scott, Carly, State Trooper, One Eye, Saw Tooth, Deputy) Kevin Zegers and Lindy Booth also appear together in the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead. In this film their characters are a in a relationship and both die, however, in Dawn of the Dead their characters both survive and are assumed to have started a relationship by the end.

Great review, Lee. I don’t know if you’ll agree with me on this, but I feel like the premise for Wrong Turn could make for a good survival horror video game. I think the concept of crazy inbred hillbillies hunting down a group of characters would make for a very fun and creepy video game. Maybe this premise has been done before in a video game, but I can’t think of one off the top of my head.
Great review Lee 👊 I actually really enjoyed Wrong Turn 2. I’ve only ever watched it once and it was a while ago but I thought it was a solid sequel and the gore was definitely upped. I tried to watch one of the other sequels, it was either 3 or 4 but I wasn’t enjoying it and got distracted and switched it off and I’ve never returned to it 🤷♂️
Good job as always with review Lee! First film is the best of the franchise, no doubt about it, and one of the best of "survival in the woods" genre horror films. Second film is very good IMO, but all the other sequels...? Well, let me just tell you to better be ready for some really bad films if you're planning on reviewing those pieces of shit. 7:32 Man, i wish Carpenter and Bob Clark made that film in 70's. The script was really good, basically the entire second half is one long chase through the woods and it would have been a fun horror/slasher movie to see. It also reminded me on other similar gems like Rituals (1977), Just Before Dawn (1981), The Final Terror (1983), and Hunter's Blood (1986), all of which i would always recommend to anyone who likes films like this one.
No you are correct, the sequels don't even come close to touching the original!! It's hands down the best, however I do have to say the new one looks really promising.
Lee! Off topic question; what’s your thoughts on Carpenters theme for Christine? It’s actually my favorite theme of his. Even over Halloween. Which is crazy to say because that film is a top 3 of mine. Just curious, I was listening to it a lot recently and figured I’d ask your opinion.
Absolutely adore the theme in Christine. There are moments that remind me of the Halloween three score. But it’s an amazing team. I just gave Christine a VHS review a couple of months ago.
I thought the second one was okay. I have only seen one other but it was set in an abandoned sanitarium in the snow and I thought that one was entertaining enough to finish it. That movie is called Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings.
Part 2 is definitely a drop in quality (as in it does not have a bunch of Hollywood money), but it's still a decent film that showcases the great Henry Rollins.
Dead End had great quality and a awsomme setting for a direct to dvd movie. Its my fav of the series. 3rd was not bad but it could of had more energy but Chavez fighting 3 finger was the best part. But 5 & 6 sucked. 7th needs to be back to basics.
wrong turn was in theaters when i saw Mortal Kombat 2021 reboot and i though it was for one night only but that that time Harkins Theaters didn't have it only at Amc Theaters but i seen the time it starts for Wrong Turn 2021 reboot at 10:05 i think it was and i seen Mortal Kombat 2021 reboot at 5:45 that was probably the last day to watch Wrong Turn 2021 reboot and i was actually surprised that it was at Harkins Theaters for that movie but i already own it on blu ray before i seen Mortal Kombat 2021 at the movie theaters
The first movie, I'll probably give a B. It isn't a favorite of mine, but I still like it. The sequels, they got worse and worse with each movie. The 5th one, I finally reached the point I was like, nope, I'm tapping out of this series. Just a word of warning, Lee if you decide to continue.
The guy that plays the biggest mountain man killer has passed away but he was also the killer on another good slasher called humongous 1982 have you seen that film? Anyway great review bro
I have recently revised and watch this movie. I really enjoy it. I like the main character because he is smart, selfless etc. I like how the characters don't make cliche horror decisions and instead make smart decisions, I like the tension and kills in this movie. I have watched the second one which is good too and I have seen the fifth one too. The first one is my favorite and definitely the best. I look forward to seeing the lastest installment.
I glad that you review this movie and I’m a huge fan of this franchise and my favorite is 4th because it has Terra Vnesa in it and she was in goosebumps tv show and I love that actress in the wrong turn 4 bloody beginnings 2011 and I also like Eliza Dushku in the first wrong turn movie she is so beautiful too and she did a great job in the first one and I love them all and my ranking is 1. Wrong Turn 4 Bloody Beginnings 2011 2. Wrong Turn 3 left for dead 2009 3. Wrong Turn 2 dead end 2007 4. Wrong Turn 2003 5. Wrong Turn 6 Last Resort 2014 6. Wrong Turn 5 bloodlines 2012 That my ranking for the Wrong Turn franchise and I can’t say about the reboot yet until it out but I do love all of the wrong turn movies but if I had to do a ranking than this is it my ranking for the Wrong Turn franchise
I've never seen any of the Wrong Turn movies. I guess I just figured Hillbilly torture porn peaked with Deliverance, or maybe Texas Chainsaw. I saw the Hills Have Eyes remake and I own the DVD but haven't revisited it in years, but I suppose with lack of new content I may have to put this on the maybe list. Still reeling with Wonder Woman '84 and the death of cinema.
I did a review for this one, my thoughts on It I liked It. But with the trailer of the reboot/sequel to the Original I guess? I don't really think this needed to be a franchise. I like the first two, the rest are just huge let downs, the effects are fine but the characters are dumb, at least in the first two you have some decently smart characters. Plus Henry Rollins Is a badass In the second one with his character. Great review!
- The first movie is the best by A Mile -The Second movie Is a fun follow up movie, but falls a bit short of being the best - Part 3 is a a boring Prison Break Movie that throws in some killer cannibals - Part Four Is a Fun Prequel with cool Kills, Decent characters, but also falls a bit short of being better than the first or second - Part Five is very low budget, but has some of my favorite series Kills - And Part Six is more Porn than Horror Movie
Seriously, that's part of why I thought #6 was fun. It felt like one of those stupid eighties slashers which always exaggerated the sex and nudity just to give audiences somehing to look at!
Uh.... HELLO!!!! You just got yourself another list. "TOP TEN BEST OPENINGS FOR HORROR MOVIES" That sounds like a great watch. (PS: Just as an example I didn't recognize the image from the movie you referenced with a better opening, so it has me intrigued.)
Honestly the first one is good. The second one is okay as well. The rest are a waste of your time. They are not enjoyable or so bad they're good. They are horrible and you'll just be wasting hours of your time DrumDums
The only good thing about the movies after 2 are the kills, some of them are super gorey and over the top. The carnage candy went up quite a bit from 2 onwards. So if you are into that sort of thing, it might be worth seeing them for that, maybe. The characters though and everything else just takes a nosedive after 2.
Hi was watching your review on wrong turn, excellent stuff. Jeremy sisto was in some good films infact one of my favourite horror films was May. Have you seen it if not check it out great movie great soundtrack too.
I love 1 and 2... 4 is descent - not a fan of the rest... the new one looks fantastic - I hope it hits digital right after the one day theater release.
Just saw it yesterday on Amazon prime. Always liked it but the Hills have Eyes Remake really fit my shoe. It just went further. But definitely a soft spot for this movie!
This is one of my favorite horror movies of all time I love it so much #2 is a campy good time but feels like a TV movie for sure you should give it a chance! #1 is perfect in my opinion!
This movie is a fun watch. I laughed when you mentioned the watch tower scene, because every time I watch this I think no way! You would just break your neck on a branch on the way down!😂
I've only seen the first 3. To me, the 2nd is almost as good as the first. You think there's gonna be some typical horror tropes then boom! I loved Henry Rollins character. Part 3 was okay. It wasn't bad to me. The only bad thing was the cgi. Not bad, but weird. For me part 3 is a fun popcorn flick.
Wrong Turn(2003) was a decent horror film. I liked Eliza Dushku in the film but that was because I loved her work on the tv shows Buffy & Tru Calling. Wrong Turn 2 was much more enjoyable to me because of Henry Rollins & most of the cast. Jeremy Sisto was on a few seasons of Law & Order.
Not my favorite, but I do like it. I have a soft spot for it because I was a kid when I saw it. Eliza Dushku makes this movie so much better. I've only seen the clips of the sequels and they all look bad. I definitely want to own this one on bluray, but I would like to eventually watch all of them too.
Nice review lee, i actually think the 2nd one is the best in series specially when it comes to the gore and kills also the final act is really amazing and i hope you give that movie another chance but i have to admit the rest of the series are quite crap and not worth watching.

This movie went down for me on my last viewing. Used to love it but just didn’t hold up well. Couple of cool kills, Stan Winston studio effects and some good tension. I thought the second one was okay. I have only seen one other but it was set in an abandoned sanitarium in the snow and I thought that one was entertaining enough to finish it. That movie is called Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings.
I’ve heard a few mention that 4 was decent actually.
@@DrumdumsOfficial yeah don’t know much about it anymore but I do know I didn’t hate it :p
@@SamA-cv2ur what about the fourth one?
One of these days, I'll have to check out that film. Since when is budget the final word in good horror?
wrong turn was in theaters when i saw Mortal Kombat 2021 reboot and i though it was for one night only but that that time Harkins Theaters didn't have it only at Amc Theaters but i seen the time it starts for Wrong Turn 2021 reboot at 10:05 i think it was and i seen Mortal Kombat 2021 reboot at 5:45 that was probably the last day to watch Wrong Turn 2021 reboot and i was actually surprised that it was at Harkins Theaters for that movie but i already own it on blu ray before i seen Mortal Kombat 2021 at the movie theaters
The first movie, I'll probably give a B. It isn't a favorite of mine, but I still like it. The sequels, they got worse and worse with each movie. The 5th one, I finally reached the point I was like, nope, I'm tapping out of this series. Just a word of warning, Lee if you decide to continue.
Good review lee, the first one I think is the best but some of the sequels are decent too.
The guy that plays the biggest mountain man killer has passed away but he was also the killer on another good slasher called humongous 1982 have you seen that film? Anyway great review bro
Oh that sucks. He was menacing as hell.
Really like this one. Does anyone have some more early - mid 2000's slasher movie recommendations?
I glad that you review this movie and I’m a huge fan of this franchise and my favorite is 4th because it has Terra Vnesa in it and she was in goosebumps tv show and I love that actress in the wrong turn 4 bloody beginnings 2011 and I also like Eliza Dushku in the first wrong turn movie she is so beautiful too and she did a great job in the first one and I love them all and my ranking is
1. Wrong Turn 4 Bloody Beginnings 2011
2. Wrong Turn 3 left for dead 2009
3. Wrong Turn 2 dead end 2007
4. Wrong Turn 2003
5. Wrong Turn 6 Last Resort 2014
6. Wrong Turn 5 bloodlines 2012
That my ranking for the Wrong Turn franchise and I can’t say about the reboot yet until it out but I do love all of the wrong turn movies but if I had to do a ranking than this is it my ranking for the Wrong Turn franchise
I watched it last night - enjoyed it. Hard to believe it's now 20 years old.
I know! Time flies.
Yeah, Wrong Turn sure ain't getting any Best Pictures nods lol.
- The first movie is the best by A Mile
-The Second movie Is a fun follow up movie, but falls a bit short of being the best
- Part 3 is a a boring Prison Break Movie that throws in some killer cannibals
- Part Four Is a Fun Prequel with cool Kills, Decent characters, but also falls a bit short of being better than the first or second
- Part Five is very low budget, but has some of my favorite series Kills
- And Part Six is more Porn than Horror Movie
Thank you, im going to watch Part Six.......
Seriously, that's part of why I thought #6 was fun. It felt like one of those stupid eighties slashers which always exaggerated the sex and nudity just to give audiences somehing to look at!
@@thehitherto5348 Is it possible to stream this movies?
@@peternystrom921 Personally I own them all on DVD, but I'm sure there is.
omg I love all your Michael Myers stuff!!
Eliza Dushku worked with James Cameron and Joss Whedon
My favorite was the 2nd one but the rest I would say are at least watchable
Uh.... HELLO!!!! You just got yourself another list. "TOP TEN BEST OPENINGS FOR HORROR MOVIES" That sounds like a great watch. (PS: Just as an example I didn't recognize the image from the movie you referenced with a better opening, so it has me intrigued.)
Hell yeah nice idea!
Love your videos by the way bro. I've had to have watched nearly all of them. Love your reviews and take. Thanks for the entertainment.
@@joshuasimpson1429 Awesome thank you Josh!
Saw this gem at the movies!!
2nd one is awesome. Great fun once it gets going.
There a new wrong turn now I hope it’s good now all we need in a hills have eyes 3
Hi was watching your review on wrong turn, excellent stuff. Jeremy sisto was in some good films infact one of my favourite horror films was May. Have you seen it if not check it out great movie great soundtrack too.
May has actually been on my list for a while now. Keep hearing wonderful things about that one.
Hey the next movie you should review is the tree house
First one is the best one... the sequels kind of go in order from really good, to solid, to ehh ok, to bad and than stay bad.
I love 1 and 2... 4 is descent - not a fan of the rest... the new one looks fantastic - I hope it hits digital right after the one day theater release.
Wrong turn 2 was very good
Yes I liked Joe Lynch direction in it
It a reboot of the wrong turn franchise not a remake it does shows it on trivia on imdb
Going to watch this now! Also agreed I really liked Jeremy Sisto I feel like he should have had the career Jared Leto has now.
Yeah he's a charismatic actor.
The first one was released in theaters why the rest was straight to dvd. But lee you would have fun with the series!#MikeNice
Hey Lee.That guy was hired to drive that Mustang across country.
Oh really?
@@DrumdumsOfficial yeah lol
Wrong Turn and its sequel are my favorites
This At One Point Was My Favorite Movie Of All Time Now It's 2nd Behind Halloween
Just saw it yesterday on Amazon prime. Always liked it but the Hills have Eyes Remake really fit my shoe. It just went further. But definitely a soft spot for this movie!
I always forget about the couple at the start
This is one of my favorite horror movies of all time I love it so much #2 is a campy good time but feels like a TV movie for sure you should give it a chance! #1 is perfect in my opinion!
This movie is a fun watch. I laughed when you mentioned the watch tower scene, because every time I watch this I think no way! You would just break your neck on a branch on the way down!😂
Is the reboot coming out to watch on demand? My immune system won't allow me to leave the house.
Yes it is.
@@DrumdumsOfficial cool, I will have to watch. These are a totally guilty pleasure for me.
I've seen them all, and your right they don't stack-up to the original not to say there not good but they get worse with everyone!
I keep hearing that about the 2nd. Definitely need to give it a spin.
Phelous has a good review of all 6 show him some love
Not my favorite, but I do like it. I have a soft spot for it because I was a kid when I saw it. Eliza Dushku makes this movie so much better. I've only seen the clips of the sequels and they all look bad. I definitely want to own this one on bluray, but I would like to eventually watch all of them too.
i enjoy the franchise for what it is! i love the first two with the second being my favorite! the rest are so so but they have decent moments
I defeated plan on watching the 2nd. I’ve heard a lot of good on that one.
I love the franchise.
The best to worst in my opinion:
1. Original
2. Part 4: Bloody Beginnings
3. Part 2: Dead End
4. Part 5
5. Part 3
6. Part 6
Nice review lee, i actually think the 2nd one is the best in series specially when it comes to the gore and kills also the final act is really amazing and i hope you give that movie another chance but i have to admit the rest of the series are quite crap and not worth watching.
Loved this movie! Thought it was very good! Watched n2, thought it was ok. Tried to watch n3 -turned it off. Then stopped watching. Remake looks promising from the trailer. Looking forward to it!
I like this movie. I find the characters believable. I find the premise horrifying. I love Jeremy Sisco’s character. I love Chris.
Wonder why Desmond Harrington never made it as a lead?
He came face to face with Dexter. 🤣🤭
@@RipleyE-we1hjlmao solid. I nearly forgot him in that!
@@traplogic5717 I'm glad you like it lol.
I'm one of the few people who actually tuned in from seasons 1-8 even though the show dipped down in quality.
Good news though

I Just Subscribed! I love this channel. And man please give the 2nd one a try Henry Rollins steals the show. Now as for the rest I would say watch at your leisure.
Thank you and welcome to the channel!
This movie went down for me on my last viewing. Used to love it but just didn’t hold up well. Couple of cool kills, Stan Winston studio effects and some good tension. But the characters were not interesting or engaging and overall the movie seemed very generic. Not a bad movie but not one I’ll revisit again
The opening scene reminds me of a scene from a slasher film the prey
I agree..Wrong Turn is pretty decent. Eliza makes it hard for me to breathe. I cant concentrate lol..And dont waste your time with the sequels..I seen one or 2 and they were dog poo. Shocking,I know lol..Hills Have Eyes is ok. BOTH for me are about equal. Decent movies to waste some time with..Thanks for another video Lee..
I thought part 2 was really funny
