And for the question of why and how he has incredible strength is because Chucky has the strength of a full grown man in that doll body. Brad Dourif’s voice work in this movie is iconic, and the animatronic puppetry was super impressive. The bts shows just how much love and effort was put into this.
The best part about this reaction is that you girls only got a fraction of Chucky's personality, he's so charismatic and gets a lot more screen time starting in CP2.
That's true but the original focuses more on Andy and his mom and their relationship, which makes it very cool and special in its own way. I mean, you really do care and love the family here. I do think it's the best one of the franchise because of that and also just the element of Chucky manipulating a child, plus us not knowing whether or not he is real are all horrifying psychological elements that obviously get lost after the reveal. I agree in the rest the human characters become kind of irrelevant and it really is more so about Chucky.

This is the movie that started my nightmares in life. Chucky was the reason i was scared of toys for awhile. Fun facts for those that know or don’t know: • Chucky loses his right hand in each installment from the original trilogy. In the last act, where Chucky attacks Andy while he's alone at his home, you can see Chucky's hairline is starting to recede and look more human-like. • The story takes place in three days. •The Good Guys animated sequence that Andy watches on TV was produced by the animation company Ruby-Spears. • The scene when Andy is crying that Chucky will come and kill him, the filmmakers had to make Alex Vincent cry on camera by telling him "Alex, think of sad things. Think about your parents dying." • Tom Holland: the photo of Andy's deceased father in the background in his bedroom is actually a photograph of the director. • The only Chucky movie in the series to be distributed by MGM until the 2019 remake. Every other Chucky movie is distributed by Universal who have retained the rights to the previous sequels and the original versions of the characters and story. • The Chucky films have always been accused of inspiring violence in children. One case linked to the series was a gang in Manchester kidnapping and murdering a 16-year-old girl. While they tortured her, they forced her to listen to recordings of the gang leader repeating the catchphrase "I'm Chucky, wanna play?" Director Tom Holland has always defended the first film from these accusations, stating that viewers of horror movies could only be influenced by their content if they were unbalanced to begin with. • All of Brad Dourif's voiceover work for Chucky was recorded in advance so they could match up Chucky's mouth with the words. Because of this, Dourif rarely ever appeared on set during the "doll" scenes. Instead, recordings of his voice would be played back for Alex Vincent to go by. However, Dourif did act out the doll's movements during rehearsals, as seen in the making-of videos included with the DVD. • The film was released on the same date (November 9, 1988) as the opening scene, when Charles Lee Ray transfers his soul into the doll. • The toy shop used in the opening scene was actually a Chinese restaurant that closed down in Chicago, on the corner of Wabash and Van Buren. Chris Sarandon even says the name of the street corner when calling for backup. Prior to the release of Curse of Chucky (2013), this was the only film in the series to mention Eddie Caputo, Chucky's partner in crime. • John Lithgow, Gary Oldman and Andrew Divoff were rumored to be considered to play Charles Lee Ray and voice Chucky. • According to director Tom Holland, the shot of Maggie falling to her death was achieved by having a stunt woman do the main shot followed by a concrete filled dummy when she hits the car which had charges underneath the windows to shatter them. Maggie's death scene originally had her being electrocuted while taking a bath. Don Mancini altered her death to her getting pushed out of a window instead, as he felt it would be more shocking and cynical. Her original death was reused for Bride of Chucky (1998), with Tiffany getting electrocuted.

The majority of the Chucky crew has grown to become a big family because they've worked on nearly every film together. Brad Douriff's daughter has even joined the series.
p.s. the voice of chucky is brad dourif. he played the gas station attendant at the beginning of urban legend (1998), and he was also grima wormtongue in the lord of the rings: the two towers.
At the time, there was an actual doll called My Buddy, which the final version of Chucky was based on. The doll came out in '85 and the movie came out in '88. Chris Sarandon has been in several great films, two of which I highly recommend: Fright Night (1985) and the Princess Bride (1987).
Throughout all the first three movies of Child’s Play, I cannot imagine how much trauma Andy has gone through. I can only imagine the stress and loneliness he must feel everyday knowing some evil entity is hunting him down, while at the same time if you try to say anything to other people, it sounds crazy.
@@gaymer07 I’ve seen the movies prior to the series with bits of adult Andy. I understand he is trying to somehow stop him, but I’m referencing when he is a kid up until his early adult years
Chucky was basically a electronic puppet. Chucky had several people operating all his movements at the same time. The kid is only in the first 2 movies.
I love love love Tara and Roxy as a reacting duo and I love love love this movie!! I remember Chucky scared me so bad as a kid that I locked my American Girl doll in my closet and I never played with it again😂😭 as an adult I just love this franchise and the magic Brad Dourif brings to the role❤
I saw the cover of this as a kid at blockbuster and it traumatized me. Everyone knew I was terrified of Chucky and some would prank me. Even had regular nightmares about him. Now it’s one of my favorite horror movies ever.
I am so glad I never told anyone that I was terrified of the saw movies when I was a kid. Not sure how my friends would prank me. Not sure if I even want to find out
I can still recite the stupid chant to transfer his soul word for word to this day 💀 My cousin was obsessed with this series. So happy to see Tara back!!!!
This movie and Tommyknockers made me absolutely terrified of dolls growing up. I remember having a nightmare once where I was laying in bed and Chucky was crawling around on the floor below me. They recently added Chucky to the game Dead By Daylight, and even got Brad Dourif to voice his lines, so I can relive my terror every time I play 😂
The 1988 horror classic! Child’s Play! As a child, I was terrified out of my mind whenever this was on TV. My older cousins used to scare me plenty whenever I came over, while they were watching it. Now as an adult, it always left me intrigued over how this movie was made. Brad Dourif as Charles Lee Ray (aka Chucky) is without a doubt iconic in his portrayal of the killer doll.
Ok.. so born in 86.. watched scary movies as a kid with my aunt and grandpa.. this movie was it as a little kid, I had the ‘my buddy’ doll. Still remember it was behind my bed and it’s shadow was on the ceiling at night when I was in bed. Crazy memories. The early ones just blend together.
‘Batteries not included’ was the original title for Don Mancini’s screenplay. The doll was called Buddy named after a real doll which inspired the look for current Chucky 🤩🧡
@@joshfacio9379 it was originally called batteries not included but they then changed it to blood buddies when they realised there was already a movie with that name ♥️
The way they got Chucky to roll under the couch like that... They actually just had a tilted floor and the camera angled to look like a straight shot.. so when they drop him.. he simply rolls down the tilted floor under the couch. Great shot tho!
This is one of the best horror/thriller movies of all time. All of the characters (well most of them) are very likeable, and Andy’s performance was really good. The effects are absolutely insane for the time as well! I would argue it looks better than a lot of modern CG, because it feels like it’s part of the environment. The man who voices Chucky (in every movie) Brad Douriff, has a daughter and even she’s in the franchise later! If you know what he looks like, you can see it in her face. She did a great job too. I will say, watching this as a kid vs adult is very different. I saw this in middle school and it scared the CRAP out of me for a long time. But since then I’ve obviously gotten over it, and it’s one of my favorite horror/thrillers. The first two are my favorite but all of the movies in the franchise are worth at least one watch just for the ride. There’s one that a lot of people don’t like, that I personally found enjoyable.
Chris Sarandon is the detective ...he also played Jerry Dandridge in FRIGHT NIGHT which you obviously haven't seen sense you don't recognize him. Fright Night is a classic if you haven't seen it you should
This is such a horror classic!! Chucky is one of the best horror villains ever and Child’s Play has some solid tension, while also having a feeling of fun, too! Great third act that it builds up to, as well! Such a great 80s movie, too!
I cant believe I scrolled so far through the comments and haven't seen anyone point out that Chris Sarandon played Prince Humperdink from The Princess Bride?! It's such an iconic role!
This movie is such a surprisingly great slasher, right?? I love watching people watch it for the first time, because you can't really expect that it is as well done as it is. Awesome reaction! And welcome back, Tara! Also, Roxy - "Batteries not included". 🤣
This movie traumatized me for years to come when I was a kid. I actually cuddled and talked to the doll how much I loved him every night before bed just to shove it quicky into the wardrobe and turning the key..😅
I was born in '88 the year Child's Play was released. I definitely grew up with Chucky, it's awesome to see it still alive. The original creator wants to make a new movie that works in tandem with the TV show, and I gotta say I'm in!! 😂
Oh I'm so commenting to help ensure you guys watch the entire series. Watching you guys have such a genuine fun time with Chucky makes me sooo happy. ❤
The 2nd film was my first exposure to Chucky as a kid, and I went to great lengths to avoid it for a few decades before finally getting up the nerve to watch them at almost 30, 7-ish years ago. Now it's one of my favorite franchises and the one that scarred me is my favorite of the series.
When I tell you this movie scared the CRAP out of me when I was a kid it’s not even funny 😂 And I love how protective you guys were of Andy, he’s so precious ❤
Child’s Play 2 is Sooooo good. All the chucky movies vary in consistency, but Brad carried the movies on his back 9/10 times. The later straight to DVD movies were VERY UNDERRATED, and the show is phenomenal. Please keep with this franchise, it’s one that really deserves it. Don Mancini is a mastermind
Everyone knew I was a strange child when I had my grandma go to every toy store looking for a Chucky doll when I was 7. The store employees looked at me weird 😂😂 at the time there were no Chucky dolls because WHO wanted one for real lol this was in the early 90's.
I love that you love the voice. Brad Douriff did great job with Chucky and love that his daughter is now part of the franchise since she was the lead in the last two movies leading up to the TV series. I hope you continue with the franchise cause it's one of my favorites. Yes, it goes a little crazy later on with Bride and Seed of Chucky but I love those too, just watch them with a sense of humor
Chris Sarandon also played the vampire in Fright Night (recommendation). Brad Douriff voices Chucky in every movie except the remake. The protagonist in Curse of Chucky and the TV show is played by Brad's daughter, Fiona.
Chris Sarandon is also Prince Humperdinck from Princess Bride, and the vampire in the original Fright Night. I find it ironic that they wanted to call it Blood Buddy because of the dolls "My Buddy" & "Kid Sister" they also made in the 80s were just like the Good Guys Chucky Doll. I mean the overalls & striped shirts and everything.
Always psyched to see Roxy on the channel! Love Tara too, and this was one of the first horror movies I saw as a kid, highly edited, on like TNT on basic cable in the 90s... the original trilogy is fantastic, I hope you at least watch the next two, if not the whole series
In the 80s and 90s you had a lot of young kids that would walk home from school and had a key to the house until the parents came home from work. Latchkey kids.
I've accidentally seen this when I was 4 years old. I don't even remember what happened in the movie but I know Chucky is the one that made me hate dolls.
Originally Steven Spielberg was going to direct the film, as producer David Kirschner worked with him on An American Tail, but turned it down, until he picked Tom Holland to make the film after he was impressed by Holland's early horror film Fright Night 1985. William Friedkin, Robert Wise, Howard Franklin, Irvin Kershner, Joseph Ruben, Robert Altman, Jack Clayton Rocky Morty and Annabelle Jenkel were considered for director.
Why does rox want every super villain to be good 😂. First it was the orphan and now she's like "any world where chuck could be good". Hilarious lol. I missed this duo.
That's probably the Disney effect shaping people's minds today. Like, every villain has to now be misunderstood instead of being allowed to just be bad.
If you haven’t seen these movies check them out: The People Under The Stairs(1991), Leprechaun(1993), The Lost Boys(1987), Trick ‘r Treat(2007), Jeepers Creepers(2001), and Candyman(1992).
A great attention to detail is as the movie progresses the doll looks more human, more like Charles Lee Ray played by the great Brad Douriff. This movie as a child was my worst fear, now I love this movie! Pls watch them all!!
This franchise is great with a lot of wild twists and turns. Please watch Child’s Play 2 next. That is one of my all time favorite horror sequels, a near perfect movie. The franchise gets wild and has different tones and flavors throughout. Jennifer Tilly is an AMAZING addition in The Bride of Chucky and the tv show is a super solid continuation and still going strong!
Yes, to answer your question, Chucky was an animatronic doll. This was done with old school mechanics & special effects, which gave it an even more creepier effect. I remember watching this back when it was released in 1988, I was five at the time, and this movie traumatized me! To be honest, I’m 40 and I still have nightmares about Chucky to this very day. If I remember correctly, he was based off of My Buddy doll (which I had) and we had to throw it out afterwards. And yes, parents let us watch stuff like this back in the day. Anyway, great reaction to a great horror film. I really enjoyed it!

Chris Sarandon fans everywhere 🙋🏿♀️cringing at, "that's the dude, from alot of things!" "I don't recognize'em."🤣🤣
p.s. the voice of chucky is brad dourif. he played the gas station attendant at the beginning of urban legend (1998), and he was also grima wormtongue in the lord of the rings: the two towers.
Don't forget One flew over the cuckoo's nest!
@studman924 And don't forget the pervert who tries to kiss the xenomorph through the glass in Aliens resurrection 😂
At the time, there was an actual doll called My Buddy, which the final version of Chucky was based on. The doll came out in '85 and the movie came out in '88. Chris Sarandon has been in several great films, two of which I highly recommend: Fright Night (1985) and the Princess Bride (1987).
I had the my buddy doll. And after I saw the movie when I was 8, I threw the my buddy doll in the trash 😨
I had one too 😂😂😂
Sarandon is also the voice of Jack Skellington!
Throughout all the first three movies of Child’s Play, I cannot imagine how much trauma Andy has gone through. I can only imagine the stress and loneliness he must feel everyday knowing some evil entity is hunting him down, while at the same time if you try to say anything to other people, it sounds crazy.
Have you seen the series 😂😂😂😂😂
@@gaymer07 why?
@@LinkStart2022 the actor comes back as an adult to get revenge
@@gaymer07 I’ve seen the movies prior to the series with bits of adult Andy. I understand he is trying to somehow stop him, but I’m referencing when he is a kid up until his early adult years
Yep all practical effects! Chucky has a team of puppeteers that maneuvers him around and sinks up the audio with Brad's voice
Bride of chucky is one of THE best, high camp, horror/comedy movies ever. Love y’all.
Chucky was basically a electronic puppet. Chucky had several people operating all his movements at the same time. The kid is only in the first 2 movies.
... as a kid. He comes back as an adult later.
With the same actor.
I just realized Andy made breakfast for his mom--on his birthday. How sweet.
Chuckie’s voice is just Brad Dourif’s voice. He’s amazing. He also Plays Grima Wormtongue in Lord of the Rings.
I saw the cover of this as a kid at blockbuster and it traumatized me. Everyone knew I was terrified of Chucky and some would prank me. Even had regular nightmares about him. Now it’s one of my favorite horror movies ever.
SAME
I am so glad I never told anyone that I was terrified of the saw movies when I was a kid.
Absolutely need our icons Roxy and Tara to cover the entire Chucky series!! This was a great time, thank you queens!! 💝✨
The purge MOMMIES are back together!!
Man, these two are the best together. So happy Tara is back
Ok.. so born in 86.. watched scary movies as a kid with my aunt and grandpa.. this movie was it as a little kid, I had the ‘my buddy’ doll. Still remember it was behind my bed and it’s shadow was on the ceiling at night when I was in bed. Crazy memories. The early ones just blend together.
ROXY + TARA + A HORROR MOVIE?? IS THIS CHRISTMAS?
‘Batteries not included’ was the original title for Don Mancini’s screenplay. The doll was called Buddy named after a real doll which inspired the look for current Chucky 🤩🧡
I thought it was blood buddies. I know batteries not included is a spielberg produced film, great movie.
I absolutely love this movie! Also kind fitting because yesterday, insiders confirmed a new Chucky film is in the works!
Fright Night is a classic if you haven't seen it you should
I'd absolutely love for you two to go down the Chucky rabbit hole and eventually watch the show. The show is so good.
This is such a horror classic!! Chucky is one of the best horror villains ever and Child’s Play has some solid tension, while also having a feeling of fun, too! Great third act that it builds up to, as well! Such a great 80s movie, too!
It's cool that both the kid actor and Chucky's voice actor are still playing the same roles in tv series.
I will be SEATED AND READY to watch if y'all do the whole child's play series!!!
Watching Chucky as a kid totally got me into the horror movie game!
11:23 😂😂😂
21:46 Chucky is alive!!
34:42 "This is the End Friend!"
Finally, they’re reacting to a classic horror movie, with a villain that holds the record for being the most scary.
This movie traumatized me for years to come when I was a kid. I actually cuddled and talked to the doll how much I loved him every night before bed just to shove it quicky into the wardrobe and turning the key..😅
What an emotionally intelligent child Andy was.
Andy is a super hero, really.
i'm so glad you're ok TARA and ROXIE!!!!! 💕💕
Child's Play 2019 was such a awesome reimagining of the story. Love that film
The 2nd film was my first exposure to Chucky as a kid, and I went to great lengths to avoid it for a few decades before finally getting up the nerve to watch them at almost 30, 7-ish years ago. Now it's one of my favorite franchises and the one that scarred me is my favorite of the series.
Child's Play was traumatizing!! Tara being shook by Chucky revealing himself was fucking perfect!
When I tell you this movie scared the CRAP out of me when I was a kid it’s not even funny 😂
And I love how protective you guys were of Andy, he’s so precious ❤
This shit was nightmare fuel!
Shoutout to Brad Dourif! Legend.
Brad has always been massively underappreciated imo. Dude IS legendary.
You guys would be pleased to learn that Catherine Hickes (Andy's mom) won an award for Best Actress for this movie (:
The cop played Jack Skellington’s voice except for the singing which was sung by Danny Elfman. Great duo for one character
Chucky is iconic. I hope you guys continue the series 😊
Tara, welcome back! If I hadn’t already, I would totally “ring that beeeee-eeeeee-eeel. Ring that bell!”
Yep! It is Chicago.
This is one of my favorite franchises I hope you guys love and continue with it. Especially with both Roxy and Tara reacting I'm so excited.
I've accidentally seen this when I was 4 years old. I don't even remember what happened in the movie but I know Chucky is the one that made me hate dolls.
The child actor in this was amazing.
YAYYYYYY Tara and Roxy, the dynamic horror reaction duo the people want!!
Hope to see them react to the whole franchise it’s gold!
You thought the things he did in this movie was bad you ain’t seen nothing yet Chucky is a demon.
It is indeed Chicago! One of chucky's nicknames is the "lake shore strangler" which is the famous road that runs along lake Michigan.
I think Spielberg was also involved in Universal buying the rights to later Chucky films, but that's cool he was a pick for the first one.
Why does rox want every super villain to be good 😂. First it was the orphan and now she's like "any world where chuck could be good". Hilarious lol. I missed this duo.
Lmao something is up with me
That's probably the Disney effect shaping people's minds today.
I really love this!!! Let Roxy and Tara react to all the Chucky sequels and the 2019 Child Play’s remake. Love their reaction!!!
I’ve seen all the Chucky movies and show, and I love most of em. I’m down to go through the series with Tara and Roxy
Great to see you two together again!! We all knew what was coming when Roxy balled up that sweater 😂😂 looking forward to the next chucky reactions!
The franchise all rocks!! 1, 2, Bride, and Cult are the best films in the series imo.
And curse
