20 years ago I was at this show in Paradiso Music Temple Amsterdam... At 1:01:04 Nile reaches out and gave me his guitar pick. Still have 'em! After the show we were standing outside at the side entrance and there was a mini van with chauffeur, standing with the doors open. All of sudden the lady singers came out the side entrance along with Omar Hakim, one of the top best drummers in the world. He took the time to shake our hands and off they went... Thanx Chic, it was a night that shall be long remembered!
I think this concert was the most beautiful in the history of "Chic", as it was beautifully interpreted by vocals Sylver Logan Shapr and Jessica Wagner
One word :~ INCREDIBLE! (the last ,999 views was me....) Just outstanding ~'Some people dismiss Chic as just a "disco" outfit but they are so much much more than that and 'At Last I Am Free' is a perfect example of that. This is proper 'grown up' multi-genre music with real emotion, depth and complexity and it's extremely well put together by people at the top of their game.' The artistic creativity and professionalism here is simply mesmerizing. Disorientated and disconnected from reality and admittedly, who can blame any woman or man in seeking shelter in such lovable projections (away from the reality of human demise). Without Disco, House would not exist.

Brother. One of the best ,coolest & funkiest bass player ever, NILE RODGERS ,a brilliant composer & guitar player , JENN THOMAS & all the other CHIC ladies with their sexy, smooth & cool , groovy voices !!! Awesome !!! CHIC is FUNK & DISCO MUSIC at it's best & finest !!! Omar is a immaculate as ever and the bass player is a match for the late great Bernard. Love the keyboard player too. Never been matched since the girls left sadly and, with all due respect ~i really don't like the vocalist they now have at all - she's good but she ain't Chic!. This is the band I always return to for my Chic fix.

Too bad that Omar Hakim's presentation during the Meet The Band didn't mention that he also played with greats like Stanley Clarke, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter (okay Weather Report was mentioned), Marcus Miller, Dr John, Jeff Healey, David Sanborn, Joe Walsh.
they played at the budukan japan in 1996. they were head and shoulders above this concert in terms of beat pace and performance, still brilliant though
Then much of the band was the same, but with the biggest difference is missing Bernard here in 2005, who is irreplaceable of course, even when he has that Tokyo Flu Still Barry brings a great vibe here as well. This is still an amazing concert to me and the vibe in Paradiso was like I had never felt before (I was there and was living right next door, going there often)
It really would help if the band didn't piss about so much and actually stick to the parts. How people - band and audience alike - can't see how groove is mauled by not sticking firmly to the written parts is beyond me. They are a good band, but you know by far the best thing about this is watching Jessica Wagner jump up and down.
