Man's voice is like fine wine, need I say more. I am 72 have been listening to him since beginning. I call it God given talent. and now is helping me through stage 4 breast cancer! So soothing through all this nightmare. Makes it more tolerable! God bless his soothing meaningful music. Love Simply Red keep your music coming. Love you and thank God for your being!

Mick is just one of those singers whose voice is like a fine wine. It gets so much better as time grows older.
True. Daryl Hall is like that too. His voice is much better imo now than when young. Naturally Soulful they both are. Daryl's voice seems strained in concert venues for whatever reason. Get him in studio or a more intimate setting & he's absolutely Marvelous. These 2 shd get together. I'd pay extra to see that.

There's an era that a lot of us grew up in that are still around where good singers, were just that, good singers, no autotune, natural sounding powerful, great breathing and natural tone. Shame younger generations think soulless perfect pitch sounds are normal.

Again, I give you the marvelous Floor Jansen of Nightwish and many solo performances. From heavy metal, growl, ballads and even Opera! She is the penultimate live singer! Check out the 2013 Nightwish, live at Waken. Her performance of Ghost Love Score is monumental. Oh, by the way, I do think Mick ranks up there for live performances. Another truly great live singer is Master John Farnham of Australia. He is “The Voice”.

Perfect. Effortless brilliance. A joy to listen to this guy. From an era when singing in tune, where every word you sang was sung clearly. Perfect pitch, perfect diction. They don't make em like Mick Hucknall anymore.
I challenge anyone to suggest a more 'genuine' singer than Mick Hucknall. His voice sounds the same whether in the studio or performing live. Powerful, controlled and always right on pitch. Simply brilliant!
Mick, Dave Gahan, and Ronnie Dunn all sound as good or better as they've gotten older. In concert they sound BETTER than in the studio.

I have loved Simply Red for so many years! Mick's voice has so much soul in it...and it brings tears to my eyes when he sings. Time has done nothing to his voice...he STILL has it...and I love it!! I have bought their music and I can't think of too many artists who sound just like their CD's do. He needs no special equipment or "studio" to make him sound like his original self! SIMPLY INCREDIBLE!!!

I'd challenge you on "unrecognized" singer; Simply Red did pretty well, as all the older guard bands from the 80's; Spandau Ballet and other Simple minded; I will give you that unlike many others, Simply Red was mostly him, song writing and singing combined. Speaks volume!

I saw Simply Red in Prague a few years ago and it´s unforgettable! The band´s sound, Mick´s voice, the atmosphere. I don´t regret spending the money for the ticket - I felt as if I was getting a two-hour ride in a Rolls-Royce.

I am literally addicted to listening to this daily. i have always been a huge fan since the 80's and 90's but forgotten what great songs he sings and like everyone else has commented he has such a great voice pitch perfect and as good as the recorded albums.
Simple red is simply the best band ever. He is such an amazing singer and an awesome human being. Always a gentleman and connected with the audience, so humble. The classiest artist out there. Every of his concerts are the best. The vocals, the musicians. The most beautiful songs in the world.
