I worked in a butcher shop in London years back this is how the head butcher spoke. The excuse was they were trying to teach you, the only thing I learned was how to not speak with people. I think that’s what’s called bullying today
Hello, cook here. Generally, the pop-culture sphere surrounding restaurants paints the industry up with shows like kitchen nightmares, hell's kitchen, etc, as an enviroment where shouting at eachother is expected, however, this kind of behaviour is actually very detrimental to any professional kitchen. You might be able to squeeze a bit more work out of someone by shouting at them in the moment, but this kind of abuse is horrible in the long run and is a big reason for why restaurants can have such high turnover rates in staff. Couple this with restaurant workers being some of the most affected by the pandemic, minimum wages, and one of the more stressful jobs available and the picture becomes clearer. I will personally never respect gordon, because he has through his shows done a lot of harm to many a kitchen enviroments. You can easily tell if someone is a hobbycook because they call themselves chef and watch gordon ramsay, meanwhile the actual kitchen worker reads anthony bourdain and is way too tired to cook at home.

@Bad Boys Boogie and the fact that every time a dish is screwed up and binned it’s coming straight out of Ramsay’s pocket seeing as it’s his restaurant

Cause people would, you know, fucking die if that happened
@@troylandzerep8045 Looking at this post I made I noticed that it is 10-11 years old. I've since come to understand that what is done on this show is more for entertainment and shock value, and that Gordon Ramsey is actually someone who is very good to work for. I've since found out that people don't run away from him , they seek him out and want to work for him. OK.....Yell at me if you must in order to get my attention, just as long as I'm a better chef when I leave than I was when i got there.
When I worked in the food business, we would get yelled at like this quite often. But, if someone grabbed us by the uniform like that, even if it was the head chef/manager, they would have been punched in the face. We would tolerate any verbal abuse, but the moment it got physical is where we would draw the line.
And this is why you don't take up cook as an occupation. If you have to deal with these insufferable pricks on a daily basis you'll go insane eventually and kill someone due to severe stress and depression.
You can make a point and have high standards without insulting or humiliating your staff. This is a disgrace. In any other circumstances, Ramsey would be fired or even tried for harassment.
Shouts at them for 10 minutes because they aren’t making the food fast enough even though he’s wasting huge time screaming at them instead of letting them get back to it…
Gordon Ramsay has top restaurants, he inspired chefs who have a passion to cook and not give up on them. Its his business and he will continue to do what he does. You guys can say what you wants but the mans making money. No one can stop him. I do not look up to him but I think he has that tough love approach.

Who wouldn't? Literally no fucking excuse for physically slinging your staff around like that. At this point in time Ramsey definitely deserved an ass beating.
This is the worst part of GR. He berated, insulted , and literally pushed the man and told him to go home and when he tries to move out of the kitchen because the chef told him so GR simply catches him again and calls him names and tells him to go home again ! I'd rather have my head chewed straight up and be done with it for making mistakes and go right back to work and do the best I can instead of being shouted over and over for the same mistake which is simply a waste of time and it's not helping the kitchen at all.
Dragging someone and getting physical may have been going a step too far, but it's a professional restaurant and a chef's inability to shout at someone and simultaneously provide positive reinforcement to others doing a good job is what often gets them on Kitchen Nightmates. No doubt you've never ran a kitchen before. Nether have I but then I'm not slagging off the professional chef in front of me.
@@Bruh-zx2mc seems like you didn't understand what I said. I'm not against him being harsh with his employee. But he punished that one person thrice for one mistake and wasted a good amount of time which could have been used to fix the mistake. And there are other comments saying that he regrets being like this in his younger days except he's done this again and again in other shows . I've never worked in a professional kitchen but I've worked in the hospitality industry and I've seen what angry chefs do when people screw up and it's quite scary the way they get angry. But they usually Don't focus on insulting the people under them .they let it rip and then get back on track. GR isn't perfect as talented and great as he is. Yeah i work in the business and this is absolutely true, I've worked with at least 2 chefs that were pretty much just like Gordon. Great guys, absolutely bat-shit insane whilst inside a kitchen
The real Hell's Kitchen.
I worked in a butcher shop in London years back this is how the head butcher spoke. The excuse was they were trying to teach you, the only thing I learned was how to not speak with people. I think that’s what’s called bullying today
yup, i learned the hard way i don't have to bear any of the bullying and assault no matter the salary
Personally I’d never take that level of disrespect, but that’s just me.
I'd lose my temper, especially been grabbed by the shirt and dragged.
@@stibba4286 yeah, J Kenji Lopez Alt talks about it a bit in one of his videos (I can't remember which, sorry) and how he has a very low tolerance for that kind of discipline in his kitchen
Me to. I've had a bully chef and left that job as I was very close to attacking him and putting him in hospital.
I lose respect for people that are assaulted and don't fight back. If he did that to me he'd be on the floor
If somebody talks to you like that there's really no alternative to throwing something at them.
after all that the first line from the commentary made me piss myself laughing so much 1:46
"Wake up! Or next time, don't even set the alarm clock. Stay in your fuckin' piss!" < 1:28 > One of the funniest things I've ever heard. Boiling Point is Gordon Ramsay at his all-time best (and most profane). My next favourite bit from this clip is easily: "You got any bite-back as a guy? You got any bollocks, you? Have you, fuck? As far as I'm concerned, you're an asshole." < 0:45 >
One ravioli and one fucking foie gras
I get verbal abuse, but physically putting your hands on someone is wrong and I’d box you even if you were my boss. You’re gonna have to pay me double to take that abuse. Fuck that.
seems like a bit of a bully in this one
I think you need to realise that they’re serving people paying at least £300 a head. That’s pressure
@Bad Boys Boogie and the fact that every time a dish is screwed up and binned it’s coming straight out of Ramsay’s pocket seeing as it’s his restaurant
@Bad Boys Boogie “it can give them food poisoning if not cooked right” Is that not enough incentive to take ones time and really focus and do it well instead of acting like this, you don’t have fucking heart surgeons (actual life-and-death type shit) screaming and yelling and pushing and shoving and throwing scalpels all over the place in the middle of surgery, why? Cause people would, you know, fucking die if that happened
@@SilhouetteJudas Ah yes, because heart surgery is the same as serving 500 people in less than two hours
@@tragedyplustime8271 indeed, heart surgery is way more sophisticated and demanding than this.

Looking at this post I made I noticed that it is 10-11 years old.
@@Ma007rk props to you for still being on the same account and actually came to respond lol
When I worked in the food business, we would get yelled at like this quite often. But, if someone grabbed us by the uniform like that, even if it was the head chef/manager, they would have been punched in the face. We would tolerate any verbal abuse, but the moment it got physical is where we would draw the line.
Sometimes one punch can solve the problems easily😏
I love this guy, what a legend
He is a legend (sorry for the late reply)
@@tylerdaniell2270 literally 12 years later lmao
thats all his frustration working with Marco Pierre but letting it all out on his workers 😂
And this is why you don't take up cook as an occupation.
If you have to deal with these insufferable pricks on a daily basis you'll go insane eventually and kill someone due to severe stress and depression.
I've read that the staff turnover rate in catering is phenomenal.
If anyone wasted as much time as Gordon standing around shouting they would be sacked
I'll never understand how this is endearing to Gordon fans. Unacceptable behavior.
everyone in the comments licks his arse, i swear. quite embarassing
Its called perfecting a craft what would you know.
You can make a point and have high standards without insulting or humiliating your staff. This is a disgrace. In any other circumstances, Ramsey would be fired or even tried for harassment.
But he owned it so who was going to sack him you suck hole
I agree except he was going through lots at the time of filming. His dad was dying and there was a Michelin star customer coming
haha....exactly ;)
I bet all these chefs woke up every morning and said to themselves....I cant wait to go to work today and have Gordon yell at me ;)
this is so funny i couldnt keep a straight face workin with this guy. gettin proper mad and angry over food rofl LOL
This is my favorite Ramsey flip out. This made me happy because this is the exact clip I was looking for😂😂
This man is throwing people😂😂😂
this shows u just how serious Gordon Ramsey is about the restaurant business
Yeah id say he's somewhat serious about the restaurant business too
He is awesome i love the way he works it's the old saying if your cant handle the heat lol
Chefs are like this in the kitchen and outside them they are the most calm lovable people.
"How's the cooking going?" Gordon asked calmly
Shouts at them for 10 minutes because they aren’t making the food fast enough even though he’s wasting huge time screaming at them instead of letting them get back to it…
Gordon obviously has never had the life slapped out of him, i bet he'd 😭
Gordon Ramsay has top restaurants, he inspired chefs who have a passion to cook and not give up on them. Its his business and he will continue to do what he does. You guys can say what you wants but the mans making money. No one can stop him. I do not look up to him but I think he has that tough love approach.
The restaurant industry is full of people who abuse themselves by allowing the industry to abuse them. I think partly it attracts people who hate themselves, and partly because c*nts like Ramsey maintain the lie that it's "just part of the job"
@@Leto_0 the comment is 11 years old mate
Working in the kitchen at busy hour can turn anyone especially the leader into devil
I respect the guy in the front 0:00 to 0:33. He's not phased at all, he just keeps doing his f**cking job.
People kill them selves when they get treated at work like this. It's time Gordon's past behaviour comes back to haunt him.
Yes that's very sad. I've been bullied in many workplaces. Do you know any victims?
@@jcbanbury I've seen it happen alot, especially when working in the NHS. I know kitchens used to be notorious for it and I think it was 'accepted' as part of this work hard play hard culture.
As you can see he hasn't prefected the art of swearing yet
This is why I won't ever work as a chef 😅 you can't afford to make mistakes. They use top quality food and people pay a lot of money for these dishes. I do have the utmost respect for these chef's 😌👊
Hell's kitchen in its infintancy
Damn he’s even worse than when he is on Hell’s Kitchen
The restaurant industry is so fucked up. They have to stay there and take the abuse because they won't get a better opportunity, and he knows that and revels in it.
Professionals who go to school for their career and work their ass off over brutal hours, making high quality version of the stuff WE ALL NEED TO LIVE, make less money than gym teachers who have masters degrees in gym class, or lazy ass IT workers who do about 3 hours of work a day, or fucking celebrities, or people who invest for a living and work almost 0 hours a day.
im sorry but everything you just stated is so Ludacris, i can probably write a whole book on why you are wrong.
This proves that the best meals are not made with love.
@Sinterklaas they are desperate and dont respect themselves. Sad.
I was a chef and no they are NOT made with love.
This is why I love Ramsay, not because he uses naughty words but because he wants perfection and will do anything to get it. That is why I love the likes of Ramsay, Schumacher etc. They are bastards but they get the job done.
tip of the iceburg abuse .... lol pun not intended
thats the standard tone in basiclly every high class kitchen.. most of time you have a choleric chef, some are taking drugs or alcohol..
World class chef or not, attempt to drag me around like that and we are swinging. Simple🤷🏻
When I was 17, I showed up to my first day as a bus boy at a fine dining restaurant in La Jolla, Ca. They ran out of bus aprons, so they gave me a waiter's apron. . I made the mistake of standing near the chef as he's handing plates to run. I was clueless, and was yelled at just like one of these guys. . But I learned quick. Didn't go anywhere near that guy after that
I like Ramsay a lot but I would take a swing at someone with that approach
"I'm going to lash out"
Here it comes......."it's fucking RAW"
Yes Gordon sounds so wierd when you're used to hearing yes chef
0:12 Gordon shoves the poor chef
If someone I'm working for shoves me like that, I'll cuss them out and will be out the door in a second. I don't care if i'm paid 100 by the hour, my dignity is more important.
@@vg6761 Cooking means everything to those chefs, can't you see? It's not entirely about the money, it's about their passion. He tried to pass messed up food which can ruin reputation of the restaurant. Gordon's loss if he does that, either leave or pull yourself together. I wouldn't work in an environment like that either, not passionate enough to aim that high.
just chefs with strong background on top level understand his way to behave, that's a top class cuisine and the chef works like this and gordon is not the only one that got that way to run a kitchen, remember that marco pierre white made ramsay cry, so.....
Lmao, if he grabbed me like that at the end I would have swung. Win or lose, I would have swung. And I love ramsay still do. Lol
Who wouldn't? Literally no fucking excuse for physically slinging your staff around like that. At this point in time Ramsey definitely deserved an ass beating.
same lmao idc if you wanna spew some shit out your mouth but as soon as you touch me you've challenged me and I wont back down
I love this playlist.
Oh my fuck, he's over cooked the artichokes.
After getting yelled at like that constantly, it probably loses its effect.
Not when needed and the expentation you show out. That's why he does it in first place
GR tells him to fuck off , calls him back, then tells him to fuck off again . And there are other comments saying that he regrets being like this in his younger days except he's done this again and again in other shows . I've never worked in a professional kitchen but I've worked in the hospitality industry and I've seen what angry chefs do when people screw up and it's quite scary the way they get angry. But they usually
Don't focus on insulting the people under them .they let it rip and then get back on track. GR isn't perfect as talented and great as he is. He can be a total douchebag at times and it's okay to call it out when you see it👍
He was early in his career, it's definitely not efficient. In Hell's Kitchen he won't waste so much time scolding a person for one mistake.
I first thought "Great Roast" , while wondering wth is gr lmao.
@@Bruh-zx2mc stop being an apologist for the toxic behaviour. In any other profession this abuse would not be tolerated. Ramsay nay have been a good chef but he was an abusive bastard and the poster child for the angry, violent fine dining stereotype

Due to PTSD many cooks have migrated and enlisted in the army
1:09 no ravioli and he hasn’t even got any undees on 😂
Gordon Ramsey’s is way overboard here when it comes to his staffs. He drags his staffs like a dog, goshhhhhh.
This made me feel sick...
Don't get me wrong, I respect Gordon and I love how he cooks and what he has achieved. But a genuine question here guys ... Could he be reported for bullying? You know like, bullying in the workplace? Because in 99% of work places bullying is a sackable offence. Again, not bashing anyone ... Just wondering? Thanks :)
Peter Chapman no cus hes ramsay
That’s how every high class restaurant kitchen is.
At 1:46 "Ramsay's attempt at relaxing the staff isn't working" LOL
That's an honest comment from the narrator.
This in a nutshell is the reason why I will never work in gastronomy again.
