Jeremy David Sessions No no, don't worry :) Flanders is the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, you're right. It is Dutch and us Dutch can understand Flemish just fine (when they speak normally: there's slang and accents within as well that we find harder to follow). However, because the dialect is in fact _so_ different from the "main" language so to speak and because it's spoken in an entirely different country (never mind that we're neighbours), we do like to make that distinction. Especially because when people say "it's Dutch", it's hard to understand whether they mean the language or the people while with Flemish it's clear that it's both the language and the people.
