I did this very comparison without all the back and forth, good vid guys. The Supra is very good…at everything. I went with a 2022 Mach1, 6 Spd Tremec, 6 pot Brembos, rev matching, monster tires…and the exhaust…that sound never gets old, especially the cold start. (brand new, sitting on the lot because gas is 5.99 a gallon here in Sunnyvale CA.) The Mach1 is built for the road course. The complete drivers experience is what kept me on the Mach1. Truthfully, I would take both of them, but the Mustang just exudes badassness (official term) while the Supra is more metrosexual.

I wanted the Supra. I went to look at one and had no idea I wouldn’t fit. It’s not a car for me, being 6’4”. I fit super comfy in my Mach 1. Both amazing cars and any dude would be lucky to have either one.
Amen. I am 6’4” as well, and both work for me. The mustang is just easier to get in and out of. Both are epic.

Thanks for the good video. Very entertaining and informative. You mention that Recaro seats are available in the Mach 1 but also note that the car you tested did not have the Handling Package. Granted, that will bump the car over $60k but a more fair comparison may be the fully-optioned performance Supra vs the fully-optioned performance Mach 1.
The only Z4 spec the A90 has is the wheel base, even the chassis, springrates, tuning ect is different!
Plus the supra sounds like a vaccume cleaner that sucked up a paper clip 😂

I can't believe you guys didn't talk about the biggest distinction between the two cars. The handling of the Supra and the superior lateral grip of it.
Weirdly the Mach 1 has higher lateral G. But we did conclude that the Supra is the handling beast here.

As far as the handling on these 2 vehicles… You know when a superstar athlete gets a fat 10 year deal based off his previous 10 years of performance? Albert Pujols comes to mind. Best player in the bigs with the Cards, batting titles, MVP, championship. The Angels paid him for what he did with the Cardinals. His numbers with the Angels were a shadow of what they were with STL. Getting recognition for past performance. When it comes to Mustangs and Supras with h handling, historically, the Supra takes the cake. We’ve all seen the videos of the over zealous driver leaving the car meet with dozens of folks filing his departure. Near 500 HP in a RWD front engine car with a hero behind the wheel and splat. BTW that’s bad driving not the car… If we remove the historical values of handling when comparing these cars and look at each cars most current model. I have to disagree with you that the Supra is the better handling car. That MACH 1 ain’t no joke in the grip dept. Car and Driver does a test called Lightning Lap at Virginia International Raceway and the MACH 1 threw down the best time for any car under $75k. This is a track with straights and yes, turns. The GR Supra finished #8 in this test under $75k and 5 seconds behind the MACH 1. 5 seconds is an eternity on a racetrack. The Supra is a phenomenal car and really fast out the gate and a superb handler. The MACH 1 is better.. But don’t take my word for it. See for yourself

@@sunburn8640 understood but I'd like to know what tires each car had on as that alone makes a huge difference. Also the Supra is underpowered compared to the mach1. If you put equal power and equal tires I have no doubt the Supra would finish ahead.
Big difference between the cars is that stock coyote long block can handle 800+ hp all day . Supra .. not so much
Fully enjoyed this! I own a Mach 1 with hp and I love it. Fast and sounds amazing, Steeda h-pipe and Borla axle back. However, that Supra is a fantastic ride, I’d love to own a Supra. Both are great performers, their differences really come down to personal preferences.

You're 100% correct, but this car doesn't have the optional handling package. So rather than the 305 front and 315 rear sport comp 2s, this car had the 255 front and 275 rear pilot sport 4s tires. That and the added aero make a big difference.
Both great cars. REGULAR Mustang GT’s match Supra track times. I’m talking about tracks with turns. A Mach 1 with Handling pack will leave the Supra.

Yes and no. The GT350 was also not in production when the Supra manual hit the market.

Good vid but the whole this sucks that sucks is over done. They are both good cars. Should hi-light those aspects. Not the v8 sucks I asked kids blah blah blah just made it hard to watch.
With the Supra they have to send bmw techs to the dealer for about evrything Toyota techs know nothing about it and hard to get stuff warrantied.

Let’s say Toyota made made their own in-line 6. The problem would still stand because the techs would only experience it when supras come in. GR Corolla is going to be tricky for techs too because it isn’t shared. If anything it’s an advantage to be able to have help from bmw techs compared to the Corolla

Yes- lots of dudes crack up mustang leaving cars & coffee- but that’s because they’re idiots.. the cars are actually quite capable. You may prefer a bmwsupra, and that’s great (whatever floats your boat!) but saying mustangs don’t handle well because of vids of car show full send doesn’t accurately sum up the platform

I'll start by saying the Supra was my favorite car in the 1990s and I drove a '93 Supra (went to a single turbo) up until May of 2000 (just before The Fast and the Furious came out - what a mistake selling that car, but I was moving for work and the car and the bike needed to go). I waited about 10 years for Toyota to make another supra, but finally broke down and got an E46 M3 in 2007. I supercharged the S54 (one of the greatest engines, let alone in-line 6s ever made) and still have it to this day.
Needless to say I was very much looking forward to the new Supra coming out and had no reservations about Toyota using a BMW Z4 platform. However, when the Supra was finally released, I couldn't have been more disappointed with styling and a very clear disregard for enthusiasts.
Long story short, I have a 2021 Mach 1 (Tremec/HP/Recaro/etc) that I flew 8 states to get because I pretty much consider this the last manual car I'll probably ever buy. The Mach 1 gets so much attention from all sorts of people (it's one thing of a Mustang GT owner chases me down to talk about the car, but it's another thing when HS girls are asking my teenager what car her dad has because they are having dreams about it). I spent a lot of time and money to build my M3 into a beast on the track, but the Mach 1 comes from the factory and can almost keep up with it.
The Mach 1 is just special....and yes, you can't help but smile every time you hear that exhaust.
The Mach 1 also gets gapped on The street and tack by the Supra. I love gapping y’all mustangs guys. Oh trust me, your mustang a dime a dozen, ain’t no school girls dreaming about it lol.

Supra all day every day. B58 but with the zf8 and lighter is very hard to beat. Mustang for sound, that's about it.

The Mach 1 costs as much as my brand new ‘22 GT and a Nissan Versa put together, not sure the upgrades are worth the extra $19,000 (for most buyers). But it is pretty sweet though!

Love my 2022 mach 1....have an Oxford white I just got in early Feb. The supra is a great choice too. I was coming from a 2019 c7 stingray, so I wanted something with a back seat this time around. As much as I love my car, there was a black 2023 that was scheduled to be coming into my dealership in about 2 weeks from when I bought mine...seeing how good it looks in black, I almost wish I would have waited, but I do like the white and black contrast, and I just got my windows tinted pretty dark as well. About to order a corsa extreme catback with black tips, so hopefully my car will have a nice amount of contrast when I'm done

Even without collaborating with bmw, toyota would have still produced one hell of a TOYOTA supra. The japanese make some of the best cars in the world. Bmw is a show off brand, while toyota is the alternative to that. Last longer too.

Great video guys. Had to subscribe because of the solid info and humor. I’m currently looking at possibly getting a GT premium 24 or a 3.0 manual Supra. Is500 is on the list too but I can’t find one to test drive lol. Anyway, in terms of long term reliability and quality between these two, what would you buy as a secondary weekend car when you’re worried about stuff like long term wear? I should state I baby my cars and wouldn’t abuse my weekend car either. I read things about the mustang such as rattling and paint corrosion. There’s a lot of reports of the paint bubbling on hoods and that’s a hard thing to ignore for me. Also there’s the manual transmission that unfortunately isn’t a tremec on the GT 5.0 S650
Hey thanks for the feedback. We always appreciate that. Its a tough call between a GT and a 3.0 supra. As far as driving goes, I would push for the tremec equipped Mach 1. Its worth it over the MT82 transmission in the GT. We just filmed a review of the IS500 yesterday and ill add that if you are ok with an auto, the IS500 is a special option. Not as much of a party animal, but so damn good.

I actually sold my 17 roush supercharged mustang for a 22 supra and to be honest two totally different cars, the supra is a nicer car all around than the Ford.
I sold a Bullitt for a Supra and went back. Too small, and just be honest, it's a BMW, and when it breaks, it's gonna be expensive.

@carguy... I'm glad you like it. On a 3 day trip it couldn't even hold our belongings comfortably. It's hard to get in and out of, and will never sound as good as a V8.
This was my thought when I went out to compare the two when deciding on which to get. I felt the Mustang, After owning two in the past, an 84' Fox and a 12' GT, that the Mach was another GT. It all felt the same. But the Surpa, after owning 3, MK2, 2 MK3's, there was a huge difference. And I don't want to hear, "Because you bought a BMW." That's not what I mean. The Supra has a feel that you are connected to the car. You are not swimming in it. There are no back seats so when you go out, it feels more exclusive on who you take with you, and the Mustang is a dime-a-dozen car. I run into them every day with a loud exhaust that goes nowhere on the road. I hardly ever run into another Supra. Making the car feel more special. In the end, I chose to be more exclusive than to be another run of the mill Mustang, understeering into a crowd of people.
