    1. Time/ date/ repeat
    2. Add Due - TIME for Task
    3. Subtasks
    4. Many Tasks Lists. personally, I created Live/ Work/ Read/ Movies/ Books
    5. Connect with Gmails - emails become tasks for remind purpose

    if it does not appear on my google calendar at my cellphone.. .I will forget a task at some point
    I keep my cell phone 24/7 by my side... the laptop... not so much.
    Great updates, but still lacking the integration that I need.
    #the repeat option is great.

    Great Tips Scott, give you two more of mine: 1) you can drag&drop the email to Task icon (like you drag&drop on labels) and 2) since you have no colors to categorize, I use emojis (like the little guy running picture for Gym Task)

  • @mepravi

    Subtasks works as separate tasks. The only thing is that if you tick the main tasks the sub tasks will also go away. But in the main list they shows it as separate. Assigning a due date to the main tasks doesn't club then together.

    Google is getting there! But Outlook's Tasks is still more robust. I like that I can attach multiple reference emails to one particular task, for instance. I can simply drag and drop files to a task as well. more robust recurrence options as well. I really like GCal and Gmail, so hopefully in time GTasks will be more competitive. But for now, I'm still Outlook.

    Hi Scott, how can I search for a task? I don't find a search option or button... I have a lot of archived tasks; I always mention in these tasks when they were done; sometimes I want to look for a task to see when the task was done, but I have to overlook all tasks. It would be easier to search for a task, but I don't see how this is possible. Thanks for your help.

    • @christiandevos9468
      @christiandevos9468 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I have a solution on my Mac desktop (not on my Android app): when I click to open the GMail inbox and the Tasks are open at the right hand side of the screen (also the 'completed' tasks) then I do a Cmd+F (for Windows users it will be Ctrl-F) and there comes a search box in the right corner. When I search for a word or a name, the results will appear highlighted. Not very user friendly because the inbox, the Tasks and the competed tasks have to be opened + the highlighted search results don't come in a list = it means several clicks before I get the result. I don't find other possibilities via Google Search.... I thought Google was the King of Search :(

    I also wonder if a good productivity method may be to create a gmail folder called 'Tasks", and use some symbol in the subject line for sorting it. Then if you see a video on TH-cam or something you can just quickly stash it by sharing to gmail, send to yourself, then schedule it later. Or something.

    Hey, I'm having a problem here.
    The date set in tasks shows up 1 day earlier than it does in the calendar
    For example:
    Create tasks via tasks pane in Calendar, set date Friday 8th November
    The task is displayed in the Calendar correctly
    The date shown in the Calendar tasks pane is Thursday 7th November (always 1 day early)
    This function used to work fine, I don't know what is happening
    Using Chrome, on windows 10

    • @Brian_Life
      @Brian_Life 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can move the email to archive or different folders, even put it in the trash. But, if you empty your Gmail trash (which will permanently delete the email), you will no longer be able to access the message. I just tested this out.

    • @ricdonato4328

      April, please be aware Gmail does not have folders, mail resides in All Mail; Gmail is one big file, a database. Adding labels to emails gives the impression of folders, but Gmail does not use folders. Example, in other email clients we cannot add emails to more than one folder. Gmail lacking folders we add labels thus have more than one label for each email giving the impression of emails being in a folder. In actuality that email is in the All Email folder only. The more labels you give a email the more folders Gmail appears to contain. Truth, all emails reside in one big database labeled All Mail. If you are familiar with cc.Mail the above makes sense.

    mane, i really would love to use google tasks and i really tried but i just had to go back to google reminders.
    1) repeating taks are nice. technically. what's not so good is that if u tap in the timeline to add a task, the repeat function isn't there which is really stupid imo.
    also, i used the app and i had it a couple of times that repeating tasks don't appear right away or way later into the day. it felt really unreliable.
    2) due time! yes! love it! and they don't group like reminders do when u have several at the same time or date. HOWEVER, they do not appear in the google calendar APP. RIDICULOUS lol. how am i supposed to plan my day from my phone or even easily see what i have planned. just make it optional like it is with reminders. THAT is the deal breaker for me! having a timeline in my gcal on my phone where i can easily see everything is the way to go. simplicity

      @@TheFactaa there is no need for a reminders app because i use the google calendar app and the reminders show up in there (unlike google tasks do. only on web). so i can easily see everything what goes on that day in one place. what's also nice is to say "ok google, remind me at 6pm to do this and that." boom, done. have google tasks show up in the google calendar on the web but not in the mobile app is ridiculous imo.

    It would be nice if you could add a date and time to a "no date" task by just dragging it to the calendar. Do you know if this possible? The idea is to use a similar process to a backlog where you know there are tasks that will have to be done in the future, but you don't know when exactly because they are not yet a priority. How can I do that?
    (This is typically something I was doing in Trello, dragging tasks around, but the problem is Trello isn;t a calendar)

  • @dmb555
    @dmb555 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm having issues with how to manage my tasks and subtasks on GC. I simply hate the fact that I realized that the subtasks are not actually linked to the main task. If I choose to sort by "Date", it will simply put all the main tasks on top, and the subtasks will become a list below. So for me to have the main task and the subtask right below it, I have to choose to sort "My Order". The problem is: when we plan our day, we obviously start by the morning hours. So what happends is that if I create my tasks non stop, the 6pm task will appear on top. So I have to inverse-drag them to have a 8am-6pm logic. I was really looking foward to use Google Calendar to make my tasks and subtasks, but I never imagined it would be this inefficient. Do you have any ideas of how can I manage this? Am I doing something wrong?

    I think the task and reminder "reminder" is weak. It just gives you one little notification sound and goes away. I think task/reminders need to be more "in your face"..lol. and apparent. It seems awful easy to forget to to do something. Some of the reminder apps out there play the notification until you stop it. That seems more practical. Or at least Google should keep sounding the notification until you acknowledge it.

    When using subtasks, the "repeat" button disappears. Why that?

    Thanks for the updates!Do you happen to know if Google is planning to integrate Tasks with Calendar's mobile version?

      That is a glaring omission that renders it quite useless.

      Tasks will sync with Google Calendar, web or mobile. You can also add tasks from the Gmail app on Android (assuming you can too in the iOS version of Gmail).

      That's right. You'll need to use the Tasks app to access on mobile.

    If you have some connect with Google management, then please tell them to honor a long lasting demand for showing all tasks (i.e. tasks in all lists) show up together - on the app, on the task website and by the calendar. People who have 50 tasks, can choose to show list wise. But people who have only 7 tasks across 3 lists (and there are plenty such less busy people), to see just 1 or 2 show up on the home screen, is kind of misleading and probably unsettling!
