  • In 2007, eight coal plants were scheduled for construction in Michigan. None of them came to be. Now, just 15 years later, the end of coal is near.
It's a dramatic shift in our climate change fight. One moment, we were fighting back coal plants from opening. Next, we are tolling the death knell for the few remaining.
Our climate efforts were recently bolstered by the MI Healthy Climate Plan. Michigan's roadmap toward a future powered by clean energy. It was the culmination of the work done by dozens of climate experts, hundreds of public comments, and multiple state departments. It envisions a future of utilities, industries, transportation, and buildings all run on clean electricity.
Carlee Knott is the Michigan Environmental Council's climate & energy policy specialist. Denise Keele is the director of the ‪@michiganclimateactionnetwo1389‬ . Join them as they discuss all that's been done to make Michigan's climate plan reality, what will happen in these pivotal months ahead, and how you can be part of the effort.
