Is that dramatic? Maybe it is a bit dramatic. But it got your attention! And I firmly believe the only way the Mariners have a real shot this year is if this happens. The core of this team is struggling and with the trade deadline approaching, what route should the Mariners take to put the best team on the field?

Maybe it wasn't the best idea to give Julio the keys to the castle, coin him as the second coming, and giving him a generational payload without winning anything in return.

Send Julio on a vacation for a bit. The offense wouldn't miss him the way he's been playing, and the team smoked the Marlins when he was off for that game. Would be cheaper than any trade you make. Maybe send him to six flags or something where he would be too busy to think about his batting. Make him go skydiving or learn to scuba dive for a couple days. Anything to get this guy out of his current headspace. He can come back in a week when he's cleared his head. Also, wouldn't hurt to have him see a sports psychologist if he isn't already. Anyone who's paying attention can see the calm Julio (like the guy that homered in Oakland) is a way different dude than the guy we've seen on this road trip.
Trade him !!! Fixes a ton of issues!!! Somebody needs to get the “Trade Julio” train moving! You can get Robert Jr., Crochet and two relievers and two prospects for him. Do it!

Polanco and Hanigar are making roughly 27 million between the two of them and are both sub 80 OPS+. Need to dump those contacts. Jerry’s gotta work some magic there. If he could convince the Giants to take AJ Pollack and Robbie Ray’s contracts, he can do anything.
Garver is “slowly” waking up but his numbers for a DH are terrible. I would give him until the end of the month until you regulate him to a backup catcher role.
Go get Brent Rooker, Issac Parede/Vlad Jr/Pete Alonso. A good hitter (Rooker) and a THUMPER.
Then go get a bullpen arm. Tanner Scott or an Austin Adam’s.
It’s been 82 games. These guys have had half a season to figure it out. Potential has to turn into production at some point or this is just who guys are. Julio should either be sent down to Tacoma or moved down the lineup again.

He already is a back up catcher. Who can replace him at DH currently? The options are limited. Dump those contracts for who though? Those contracts are not keeping the M's from making any moves, and if you DFA these players, M's still pay them full contract.
Maybe Julio can not worry about what cool color arm sleeve to wear and match and just take that time to work on hitting better.

He needs to stop swinging at pitches away. When he has 2 strikes, he gets sweepers off the plate, AND he's swinging at those! Stop swinging at pitches on the outside of plate!!
Remember start of the season when we were just supposed to be patient till our bats got going and that this offense would be different.. 😭

We have to be patient to next year, no way is this team built to win a World Series no matter who they add, and that would wipe out a number 3 starter and minor league talent. The Astros did it years back!
Hate to say it yet but (same ole mariners) is looming largely! To all the batters on this team ---> do stuff!!
So as of today, the Mariners sit 4.5 games ahead of Houston, and 7.5 games ahead of WS champion Rangers. I've been a fan for 25 years, and this Pitching staff is one of the best Mariners staff ever! Now the hope is Julio, Garver, and the others start hitting after the all-star break. Why can't these guys hit? They fired the bench coach/hitting coach they so coveted, and yes, a big trade that wipes out the minor leagues isn't what is best. Why not take this team as far as they go, without losing any minor league studs, which they have many in their ranks. We are all so "win now" when this team is not able to beat the Dodgers, Guardians, Yankees no matter who they add this year. So, let's see where we go with this team, and know what's needed for next year.
Problem with Julio being better is we haven’t seen him be that much better if wer being honest better for him is 270 avg 30 home runs he’s not ever played at the 300 avg mvp type level everyone keeps saying he has potential to be but yet never does im convinced the mvp stuff is crap and his floor is just what it was the first couple years which is a good player but not a franchise star everyone sees him has he has done nothing to prove me wrong so far

Back in the dark days of 1978 while playing catch, my brother and I had made up 2 Medoza line Mariner infielders named Steve and Craig Snazzy. Yes, brothers, from Canada. Our joke to this day is that the Snazzy brothers are shadow owners and all the M's hitters have "Snazzy hitting Institute training" (S H I T by first letters). And that is why they suck offensively. Anyone else have a better explanation?

It drives me nuts that the Mariners cant play small ball. It seems like a massive % of their runs come off of HRs. They will get a couple of runners on w/ 0 outs and strand them because of K's. They never move the runners along and sac flies are rare.
Sacrifices are silly in today's baseball. The bunt is all but eliminated because of the data that you're better off letting the batter hit, because the stats show its a higher percentage than a silly bunt, which I dont know who here has played at a fairly high level, bunting a 94-mph pitch is extremely difficult, hit away I say! Or a 85 mph slider! Small ball requires things the M's dont have, guys that can walk, guys that can steal, and guys that can drive them in when they do!
I'll say it again. Bullpen has to be a priority too. Robert jr. can stay with white sox. He had a great year last year, cool. His history tells us that it was an outlier thus far. 38 HRs last year? Cool. It's the only time he's done it and it's also the only time he had a full-ish season. before that He's never hit over 13! And that was in 98 games. Not our guy.
Hopefully this was just a bad week. But that was pathetic. Bring it back at home.

Does this come down to sending DeHart packing? Brant Brown clearly was not the issue (duh), but the fact this team cannot see or put the bat on any pitches feels more related to hitting coaching and strategy.
I agree, this isn't fixable in the middle of the season. Rather hold onto our resources for 3 legit star hitters in the off season. 🤔PS I'm not a big J-Rod believer, never have been dude is a strike out machine. 😒

This team lost any chance at a World Series the minute Stanton closed his wallet on any offseason acquisitions over $500k. These are the same holes in the roster that we have seen since 2019. Nothing has changed.

So Logan, and Kirby, Miller, Cal, and few others are in the Pre-arbitration stage. MLB salary arbitration is reserved for players who have at least three years of MLB service time but are not yet eligible for free agency, which is earned after six years of MLB service time.

the biggest problem the M's have at present is the pitching especially bullpen and closer. Bryce Miller is jekyll and hyde if he is off he is OFF. Munoz needs to stop the slider it misses more then it finds the zone and batters know it, he keeps walking the lead off batter.

Tridents are almost back winning by 6 games we are in 1st I am proud of these guys yes we have our shortcomings. But they are still first. Go get the bats, add to the bullpen, get a 5 because Woo is gone again and that makes me sad 😢 Woo is so wonderful when he's healthy but im adraid he's done 😢 everyone that is doubting this team should be frustrated but we have time to appove. Also shout to LG for his cy young possible year.
Does this issue (where the best hitting improvements may just be our guys picking it up) make it more likely that we just go after pitching?
That’s been my take, that I’d love a bat but don’t know if it would change much. Whereas some bullpen help would definitely help us convert some of these close losses

I just don’t think a very expensive bat is in Jerry’s plans because (as you astutely pointed out) a lot of the best bats we could have are our own guys regressing to career averages. Thanks for the content!

JMO WE should get Alonso for DH Raleigh/Garver platoon, Then get Brent Rooker he'll be a great fit and loves T-Mobile hitting 270,380,521 those 2 alone have 30 homers among them. Hopefully, Julio gets back on track Santos and Evans are on the way back how's Stanek Santos Munoz sound with Thorton, sauce, and Voth. Spier he's do back also so, hope trader Jerry pulls the trigger on July 1 Monday. second half we have the easiest schedule THIS IS STILL OUR YEAR!!! GO M'S.
Alonzo would be a great fit, but the Mets will be asking a ton for him, especially since his K rate is down to 20.4%. Imagine the M's having a guy like him that strikes out 10% less? Would cost about 3-4 players, one being a starting pitcher, then 3 top minor league prospects.

Let go of Julio? First of all, nobody will take his huge contract, which goes for another through 2029. He is still young and has a lot to learn. The minute they give up on him he will hit 50 bombs, at avg of .324 , huge ops, etc.... He will turn it around, he is a natural and so young!

Julio's K's are WAY up, this team is toast. Just enjoy them for baseball.
Trade Julio - he will get you the most you need without spending money and devastating your farm system. Nobody wants to say this but it’s true….Vlad is NOT coming to Seattle, neither is Robert Jr. or Alonzo. Not happening. We need Crochet more than Robert Jr. anyway. This team is built on arms not bats - when the arms falter you go 3-6 on a 9 game road trip. Polanco is a bust. Bliss is better at 2B. Give Bliss the starts. He is a spark plug and better on defense than Polanco. Trade Julio - it’s the only option to get what this team requires…or - you are stuck with what you’ve got. I can smell another Dipoto move coming - Ford, Vogelbach, LaStella types are on the way…Dipoto and Hollander - once again - constructed this mess…and their contracts are up after this season…do NOT EXTEND these knuckleheads…period! Nine year rebuild continues. 7:08

Definitely a hard time, but I think we should also take into consideration whether or not Scott is constructing the lineup correctly or not. I mean it is hard wanting to change up the lineup when all the hitters are really struggling. First thing I’d do is take J.P. Out of the leadoff and give Dylan Moore, a bit more opportunities leading off and being in the lineup more. But that’s the first move I am making, to make a change to try to help this offense.
I am a big JP fan, but I agree he needs to be taken out of the number one spot and put anybody that doesn’t matter and that number one spot that’s worthy

Bro, It took Serveas 2 years to figure out JRod shouldn't be batting 2nd. Now if he could simply acknowledge having a left vs left or right vs right match up with your hottest hitter is better than left vs right with a guy batting .173.
How can you even fantasize about the owners picking up one but both of these players. Let's be realistic, if we trade for a player Rengifo would be a great add at a reasonable price.

This organization will do nothing but let us down. They want to be good enough just to get behinds in the seats and turn a profit.
