@@the.communist Nowadays, it's hard enough to continuously make content about cycling without sponsorships/ads due to the massive rise in prices of everything + cost of sustaining businesses, so I can understand them having to... uhm... "shill" sometimes. Viewers can just watch the documentary-style and budget-friendly content if that's all your after, and just skip all the "long ads"/showcase videos if you don't want those. I personally stick around to watch their challenges, builds/projects, adventures, etc. cause some of those are still really good.

@@the.communist So their 1,000 dollar hill climb bike series they are doing right now is considered them chasing after the money? I'd say they are very aware of the general consumer and create videos to caster to such an audience.
But you are somewhat right that every other video seem to be labelled with an ad mark which is just too much for my liking. It is okay to have some to show off the latest and greatest tech but it is just weird seeing that ad tag on every video.

Off-the-chart lunacy and fun these UK hill climbs seem to be when seen from far across the pond! Thanks for being our street reporter, Francis, and getting the weights of all those bikes and, woohoo, showing us Alex and Ollie in the wild as actual cyclists, not just pretty puppets pontificating about tech and aero in a television studio. And I echo other comments in calling for a collaboration video, not just one but a whole series of rides and coffee-shop chats after Ollie fakes being tired and getting dropped, yet again. 😀

Only done the struggle a couple of times, you think your done after leaving Ambleside where it flattens off - only to be faced with that (double?) hairpin at the end leading up to the kirkstone pass. Hard to tell, but looks like the hill climb cuts short the the hairpin. Would love to return to the Lake District and give Hardknott a bash again... and at the same time climb up the kirkstone pass this time. Maybe next year now!

I own a couple of road bikes. But just out of curiosity, I 'lightened' my S-Works Venge (2020). It normally weighed 6.9 kilos (Ultegra rim brake setup with 404's). What did I do? I installed shallow-depth Zipp 202's (conti TT's tires 190 gr) and a very light 11-25 cassette and hollow chain. I also removed the small chain ring & front mech (I used the Paul chain keeper for the front mech replacement). Put on this ridiculously light 95 gram carbon saddle. Removed all bike tape. Removed bottle holders. The bike now weighs 5.8 kilos. Most weight-savings was from the wheel swap & drive-train. But every little detail adds up to some nice weight-savings. Bike feels very fast but I do not prefer the saddle. It has no padding and is torturous. A little 'boggy' too because of the gear setup.

6.4kg Domga F on rim brakes. Yet Ineos still decided to go disk brakes this 2022. Just imagine what other components they could have installed on the bike that is slightly heavy but still meet the 6.8kg UCI weight limit.

After watching this vid, if I ever try a hill climb, I'll have the extra weight of earplugs.

You should come to the Scottish championship, my friend is racing and his only target is to have the lightest bike there. Currently around 5kg I think.

6:39 That seemed to be so unstable I was affraid it's gonna be dropped! The bike's owner seemed like doesn't like being dropped. Sorry for my english.
