Pay to race an extremely overpriced fragile bikes to 'race' for only 15-20mins, which must be driven to, because the bike/tyres are too fragile to ride for any other purpose
Honestly the joy in the depth and breadth of British-bike-nerdiness is real. I had 4 “weighing hill climb bikes” in my feed this morning and this one made me actually happy.
I absolutely love these videos. The fun you guys bring to the conversations, the fun that the participants bring, the pride or lack thereof in their bikes, the sheer joy of participating. It's really infectious and it made me smile as big this year as it did last. Hope you guys make this a permanent tradition!
Really interesting seeing all the different bikes and the age range of the riders as well. Looks like a great time. The weight of the bike only matters if everything else that can be lighter or more aero is also taken care of. As the math and physics dictate, it's all about watts/kg. Feather can hold over 6w/kg, so unless you're a top pro climber, you've got very little chance of beating him. Thankfully I live in FL where there are no real climbs, because I'm a heavier rider. My bike could literally weigh 2kg and I'm still getting dropped when the road goes up. Downhill though, that's where I really shine. 🤣😂
Excellent video. Simple but enthralling. A definite Cade Media Classic. And the smiles on those cyclists -- even the lad wrapped up in the thermal blanket -- were a joy and a delight. Live long and pedal hard!
Yeah, annoys me to see brands selling 40 front 55 back, the air is so disrupted at the back, that if you aren't using a full disc wheel, you are just putting weight on your power wheel for nothing, cut the weight on the power wheel, improve aero on the wheel that is facing the wind the most
I have no intention of ever trying to reduce the weight of my bike, or race it up hills, but this stuff is impressive as hell! (As are the people!) Love it.
that 4,6 cannondale could have been 4 kg flat with some ez changes. (but not sure about the scales, even good ones heavily depend on the way you hold em)
I genuinely don't believe that red canyon aeroad weight 6 kg. If you add up the frame, wheels, and ultegra you would get something much closer to 7kg nothing on that bike was super light enough to get it that low. That scale seemed to be doing some funny readings at times.
So happy to see so many women at the event! If I had only seen GCN and bikeradar's coverage of the hill climb I might have thought there were only men present...
Emily definitely dropped that mic 😅......a proper fun video team Cade Media 👏 Any guesses as to the collective total weight of the weighed bikes in the video? 🤔🙂
7.6kg expensive trek emonda disc vs 5.6kg vitus aliexpress for under a grand quid. This video really shows how riders who think latest = greatest get shafted.
At first glance I thought this vid would be arb but it was actually great fun! Some good pointers as to which second hand bikes to look out for. Those hillclimbs look a right lark, definitely going to check them out when I come over there next year
the headset top cap and bung or top cap and bolt is purely for bearing preload.. once the stem is tightened to the fork steerer the aheadset top cap and bolt can be removed..
This is my bike, I can confirm it is 6kg! Built to be an aero bike at climbing bike weight. They weighed it twice because they didn't believe the scales at first
I would go for the s3. Very light and very aero. Essentially it's 6.6kg not modified. Lighter seatpost, handlebars and groupset, some shallow but still somewhat aero wheels and you've got yourself a light aero bike sub 6kg. The speed they ride up the climb I think aero still matters a bit
Mid 90's atb bike too. HUGE!!! 12.5 Kg's. Little wonder I can't get up hills. Give me one at 5.7 Kg's and that Feather guy (or Ed) would have no hope at all.
Recently bought my first road bike, a giant contend with claris, close to 10kg, compared to the bike i grew riding a close to 15kg. It is night and day difference, not only the riding position, but the power output is so clean and fast
@@bernardo9202 i still have and use my 26inch 17kg decathlon mtb in the trails. Right now cant aford anything better but i cant even imagine my performance when i do. My bike is from the days where cheap bikes didnt have frame sizes.
Ditch the wheels, go shallow. Drop the stem and go low. Carbon everything and research your lightweight products. Darimo seatposts , recon cassette , darimo handlebar , berk saddle and you’ll drop to 6.5kg easily. At only a price of $1500 usd 😂
Being a completely bored numbnut, I charted all of these weights.
Minimum: 4.53
Median: 7.22
Average: 7.04
Max: 10.33
😂 Don't forget to take your medication next time. Also, thanks.
Thanks for the work!
yeah but as shown at the end, the error margin was huge 😃

A: Well it has alot of Aliexpress things on.

His dad definitely knows a thing or two about building bikes from niche brands.
The British racing scene is unique, strange and so much fun! I hope it never changes.

Love the diversity of riders, young, old, men & women alike with a spectacular mix of bikes!

As a 64 y.o. rider. so delighted to see the seniors well represented. Ride On!
I appreciated the guy with the old steel bike of about 10 kg. And I bet he didn't come in last.
Difficult to be sure where he came. Too many Sams were competing. He certainly did not come in last though.

Mostly stock apart from wheels, Canyon aerode rim at 6.0kg was probably the biggest surprise to me! Seriously light for an aero bike!
Because the scale has not been calibrated. 😂
