How is this channel not more popular, it’s some of the clearest presentation of car information on TH-cam!

Just pick up a 2007 avalon limited with 48000 miles from a elderly couple. I'm loving it even my 10 year old kid say it's so smooth.

Ha me too. Mine had 91 thousand on it. Rides like a Buick and gallops like sea-biscuit when I step on it.

The oil leak is easily fixed with an upgraded VVT feed line, that’s the oil line going to the back of the head on the front of the engine, that rubber hose ruptures. I owned a 2005 briefly & had the upgraded line installed. The steering shafts are known to wear out prematurely as well, if you experience a “clunk” in the steering over low speed bumps that’s likely the cause.

I just bought one 2007 avalon 218k miles..the hose got replaced in 45k miles..I do hear a clunk in right side in the back though..what you think it is?

@@willpage79Likely just a warn swaybar end link or something, but that is something that would have to be inspected by someone in person as there are multiple parts that could be worn and causing the clunk.

The junkyard mechanic The junkyard mechanic
I have been researching these and other afford-to-maintain lexis/Toyota vehicles for a few months to possibly purchase,
and there’s a common footnote to the sudden “drop” in HP/torque. In most cases it has to do with how the testing method was changed for the whole industry, and thus not representative of an actual drop in power. It’s like the “new” Richter scale for earthquakes, old and new numbers aren’t easily comparable.

280 HP is with premium fuel. After 2006 they rated horsepower using regular fuel which gives 268. You can still get 280 if you use premium on newer Avalons.

@@thejunkyardmechanicwilliam7848 yep. If you look at the ratings for the Avalons newer than 06, they all say 268
