  • In this video, I will discuss about time period calculation for buildings with reinforced concrete and URM infill wall and how to define these wall information in STAAD in different direction. When a reinforced concrete or masonry wall is considered for analysis, stiffness and load path is modified which eventually change the time period of the structure. How we can consider the wall stiffness using few additional input, that I will cover in detail.
    For analysis and design of any structure (concrete, steel or composite) which is in low or high seismic prone area, we need to perform a detailed seismic analysis and based on the analysis results, go for member/connection design. Static seismic analysis is one of the easiest method of earthquake force consideration but it is not only limited to that. For dynamic analysis and seismic detailing, we need static seismic inputs.

    Thank you sir, for uploading such valuabke videos, our suggestion is, kindly make long video and cover more aspects , so that we can get more knowledge and benefits in a short time and can put it in our career....
    Also start another series on various topics so that we ahead in making our careee in structural deaign fast..
    Thanks you sir....

    Thanks sir ..Very informative session (part -1 to 8).Have a request sir.
    Plz provide the video about the Dynamic response spectrum parameters, and the comparison of both static and dynamic value , calculation of scale value and the application of scale value?

    Sir, if the building have shear wall (RC steuctural wall) and URM infill wall also applicalbe (SPD >20%), then this building is falling in which structure type? ST 4 or ST 5??

    Sir...do i have to go for ST 4 in case if I have RCC walls only at the basement and the RCC wall is discontinued from Ground floor? What should I consider in this condition?

      As per IS1893, you need to consider the wall area at the first floor level when you use ST4 time period calculation method. If the RCC walls are present only at the basement level, not above ground portion, then it is better to use ST1 parameter. Also, for such irregular structure, it is always recommend to perform dynamic analysis where the time period is calculated based on the overall structure stiffness using Eigen value method.

    Eigen solution gives value of time period for each mode ,which mode's time period should be consider for analysis and design?

    • @surojit_ghosh
      @surojit_ghosh  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For dynamic analysis, individual modal results are considered. If you want to use time period from eigen solution for static analysis, you need to consider the fundamental time period value, normally the value reported for first mode.

    Sir Kindly make video on Wind Load
    I'm so confused after seeing different videos on youtube, they all are teaching different

      It is already in my plan, but as this will require longer duration to complete, I have not started it yet, may be later this year. Meanwhile, you can check this video to get an idea about the new wind load generator in STAAD -- th-cam.com/video/RD8j7PvBURE/w-d-xo.html.
