@@DragonFury-gq5zo when I was younger I was helping my sisters boyfriend rebuild a Suzuki DRZ because it was burning oil and running horrible. When we were taking the bike apart there was something hanging out of the intake.. as we disassembled the engine there was a pair of woman’s tights/pantyhose or whatever they are called going through the air box into the intake tract and through one of the intake valves. It was being torn up in the cylinder and damaged a lot of parts. I was amazed that it ran with it like that but it was hilarious. I think someone had used it for an air filter as there was no air filter.. or they were cleaning it and put it in the intake to block it off and forgot about it lol
Yes very good video quality, He should know what a telescoping guage is and to also measure ring end gap at half cylinder effective point & by all means a 45° crosshatch hone pattern? He and I aren't from the same school and I'm happy about that or he's either got to much Gasoline fumes in his environment ! Honda must sponsor these videos in order to sell newer model versions.
There are so many variables that come in to play when it comes to when your engine will need a rebuild. How often you change the oil, clean the air filter, where you ride and how you ride will have a major impact. It is not very common for people to ride these bikes on the road but you will likely be able to go quite a while if you aren't racing the bike or riding it hard. Many people can go 80-100+ hours before a rebuild. With that said, many manufacturers recommend a rebuild at 15 hours of hard racing use.
You had galling on the piston pin where the rod runs, but when disassembled you didnt check its condition or clearance ?????? May have needed a new rod ?
If you're really twisting the piston around in the cylinder a lot that could potentially happen but once you place the piston inside the only time the piston should be twisted is the small amount it takes to line up with connecting rod. So you shouldn't have to worry about that happening! Thank you for watching!
.06mm On each side allows for plenty of 10w/30 circulation, that by the way is in need of changing every four hours riding time. Oil viscosity gets beat down quickly and trashed up by clutch fibers and aluminum specs from clutch basket's. Oil setting up in an engine at 33° for 120 days gets thicker & sticks to inner engine casings. Needs warming up a few starts without riding, then changes while warm. That's on unused oil in colder climates and actually in some warm. I take it that all Commenting in this group have done a 30/40 & 50 year test on quart sized oil types & seen how much stats in the can or plastic type bottle's?
Hello , what is the size of the ball home did you used please 😁? Because in the internet there is many differents size ...Ho by the way ,very nice video !!!🤩🤩🤩 thank you so much !👍
Great video! One question, how do you know what size piston to put in, before you take the top end apart? Did you know what you put previously or? I have a CRF 450R 2008 that will need a fresh piston and rings, but I do not know what size she has now and do not want to take it apart and then wait two weeks for parts? Thanks
You need to take the top end off so you can see what size piston you have... never risk ordering the wrong piston. I nearly did this the other week on my cr250 and realised it had been bored out by 1.1mm... thank god I didn't order the standard size piston and I just took the time to measure the old piston

Well, we can’t answer that for you. Take it to your local shop or something, do it on your own while watching videos, it will save you money unless you break something expensive but it will cost you more time.
A few things might look a little different, like the cam cap, but It's all close enough that you should be able to get the job done. Just make sure you use the torque specs and measurements listed for your year. -Charles

Good trick putting the piston in on the bench , never thought of that before . Just made my life easier lol.
I’ve alway done my cr250 like that…saves cuss words
Great job with the video. Time to dust off my 2006

Let's get a TRX450R complete rebuild.

welditmick or get some rubber jaw pliers
Surprised he didnt do that, cuase no matter what if you dont it leaves scratches.
So glad I’m switching to two stroke
This is Friday entertainment for me. Love it. THX
Great job Charles. Very detailed. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic job! Very well explained
Thank you for checking out our video!
pretty clever with installing the piston in the cylinder before sliding the wrist pin into the piston. gonna start doing that
I did this a few months ago and it really helped.
I think I’m just gonna buy a 2 stroke and sell my crf after watching this video
Did you? Just coming across this shit myself
You'll be happier for it.
After watching this i'm sticking with 2 strokes!!!
Very well done video, but this is exactly why I like two strokes, and why 4 strokes have killed racing for family teams and local riders. Nice job.
great guide. i just don't think i could do such delicate work. my heart rate was already rising as i was watching you do it what more if i do it myself. 😅
I attempted to do the time to my wr450 and failed miserably, duel cams are so much harder, getting a Crf450r toomorow and this looks so much easier
Where did the camchain go? =)
Watch dont let your cam chain wad up in bottom any movement and it will break lower cam chain slide holder casting off case dont ask me how i know
Precise work, new parts. Greetings :).
Thank you😀
I definitely would have left the rag in there and fully assembled the engine before I realized what I did.
nolan warner don’t worry. I left a rag down the intake hahah

What happens if the engine side timing mark lines up at the same time as the cam chain sprocket, but the transmission side doesn’t?

This is why you get a 2 stroke.
Trevor A true that just got done rebuilding mine nothing to it
4 strokes are easy, not sure why people complain.
Trevor A four strokes are more fun and have a lot more power and last longer for rebuilds
@@motobros-edits8954 haha what?? 4 strokes have alot more power then 2 strokes? 😂 what drugs are you on 😂😂
@@motobros-edits8954 maybe you should compare a cr250 bhp to a crf250.... the cr250 would smoke any 250F. Also the cr500 has more bhp then any 450f
Probably the most popular 4 stroke engine.
P. T. Good motors but the titanium valves are brutal
No offroad can beat the power of a four stroke
🙄☝️🤣
That is great detail
Next the crf 250r please👍🏻
Basically same thing
I was just getting ready to buy a crf450… I think I’m just gonna stick with two strokes. This video crinkled my brain.

I have 180 hours on my crf450r -08 and now I will do a full teardown and replace what needs to be replaced.
My engine boils a lot and drains the water from the radiator very quickly. How can I solve my problem?
Crf450r 2010 ?
Amazing video
Glad you think so!
What's the difference in crf and trx 450 motors
You had galling on the piston pin where the rod runs, but when disassembled you didnt check its condition or clearance ?????? May have needed a new rod ?
The expensive part is fixing the hard valve seats and valve guides money$$$
Where’d you put the drive chain after taking the cam out to before
Can one get in trouble when twisting the piston after you put it in the cylinder? What I mean is if the rings can get misaligned? Great video!
If you're really twisting the piston around in the cylinder a lot that could potentially happen but once you place the piston inside the only time the piston should be twisted is the small amount it takes to line up with connecting rod. How about a 2016 CRF450 next?
