To those that are unsure what kind of Push Mower to get, just get any brand that has a Honda Engine on it. I bought a Craftsman Push Mower and because of the engine being a Honda versus Briggs and Stratton, it was way more reliable and powerful when mowing my grass! I absolutely loved my 1985 5 speed cable clutch accord it ran for me to 450k miles
In which I sold it in 2009
Car was still in showroom condition.
I then bought a 1989 accord with the flip up headlights also 5 speed
That car was a nightmare of issues. The synchronizers in the transmission went out 4 times in two years.
Along with a list of problems that car the engine blew at 260k miles.
Then I went to a 95 accord automatic sedan
That was a nice trouble free car but got stolen at 300k miles and find stripped to the frame.
I then bought a 2001 civic that car was trouble free from 100k miles bought used til the transmission suddenly went out without warning at 132k miles.
And Honda wouldn’t do anything about it even tho it was a huge class action lawsuit for it. But cuz Honda said the warranty was only up to 120 miles I think they knew they mostly blew around my mileage or under…
I’ve had a few newer ones since.
Always get a manual if possible they’re automatic are not so good.with Hondas
I’ve owned or now own or in my family 2010 Prius 2007 rav4 and 08 Yaris
None have had any transmission issues and all automatic and my 2010 matrix lived til 350k miles the torque converter went out cost more then the car

This goes to Mr Scotty Kilmer, first and foremost I want to thank you for such an incredible video that you have put together on the history of Honda and Toyota. I as well believe that they have been the 2 best auto makers in the last 25+ years here in the United States. I follow your channel and I must say that you are a very wise and informative mechanic who's 30 years of automotive knowledge allows me to take all angles in consideration when I'm thinking about purchasing a vehicle. I do have a question for you, I have been considering drifting in a different direction with my next purchase because there seems to be a lot of reviews floating around making the new 2023 Kia Telluride / Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy model a vehicle that is top of the line in all it's aspects. So I was wondering what is your take on these two companies and these two vehicles? I would appreciate any information that it's not being shared or released to the public that will help me decide on either one or to stay away, thanks

Honda and Toyota are known quantities. Kias have nice looking interiors with lots of tech. It's what's underneath that counts.

My CL7 Accord has 180k km on the clock. Best car ever imo.
I don't have the bells and whistles in it, it's the base model, but I put a powerful android radio into it along with 4 alpine speakers, I don't really miss Cruise control and heated seats that much.

I brought it back to life lot of blood sweat and tears..but I tell you what under 200k on it it still runs like a monster!!!! Sometime I should bring it down to you..

My 99 LX civic had automatic transmission problems so I dumped it after six months and trade it up for a 2000 black EX with a five speed and loved it until it.
There was also undisclosed damage on the brand new 99 LX civic so I threatened the dealer with a lawsuit and got the 2000 EX for actually less than what the 99 LX cost!! I have never used that dealership after that.

For the Honda heads I heard that the 6th or 7th generation accords (2000-2003ish) 6 cylinders specifically were notorious for transmissions dying way sooner for some reason, never understood why. All I knew was that all my mechanic friends told me to steer clear of accord 6 cylinders made close to 2000.

Was driving a 2001 Honda Accord. New England winters have started to eat up so much underneath my mechanic doesn’t think it’s worth fixing. It’s got LESS THAN 90,000 MILES on it. 😢. I’d like another Honda but think even a Civic may be too expensive.
