It's not Turbocharged that's why?😂😂
And that was the best Accord body style ever. Such a clean and classic look, the fun wishbone handling, and my '92 was manual with that great snicky shifter. Some people didn't like the clutches but I thought they were great.

I’ve had my Accord for 14 years, it’s a 2010 EX with V-tech V6, and I love it. I just this week had to make the first repair outside of regular maintenance, which was rear brake rotors and the trunk latch. Best car I ever owned.

Honda here. 600,000+ Miles. Zero issues. Zero payments 20+ years. Saved $1.3 million dollars in car payments in the process as well. 🤓
I totally agree with you on these cars, Scotty. We currently own an older Honda Odyssey with close to 230k miles and it’s still running perfectly. We also own two older Toyota Camrys and both have been very reliable vehicles. Bottom line is you can’t go wrong with a Honda or Toyota.
I have a pair, naturally aspiring, 1 Hybrid, 1 V6 that is older.

93 Corolla runs great
I'm not going to walk 7 miles to the grocery store. Here in the country, the main purpose of a car IS to get from one place to another. We are considering a new Corolla later this year and I've heard mostly good things about this car in terms of function and reliability. I've also heard minor complaints like it doesn't look sexy or the acceleration is tepid, 0 to 60 in about 8 seconds, but what do I care, I'm not entering any races or car shows. What I want out of a car is two things, affordability and reliability and a Corolla gives you both. Sure, it's not as cool looking as a Mustang but lasting 30 years without major repairs is also pretty cool. It's a choice and I choose affordability and reliability. Thanks for confirming this for me Scotty.
I'm retired and after decades of buying Chevys and Fords, my friend and Scotty here convinced me to buy a 2016 Toyota Camry le with only 56k miles. Paid $15,494 out the door for $17,347. Not new but looks and rides new. At 56k miles it was affordable and the CARFAX showed it was well maintained. I suggest shopping and comparing price online to narrow down choices and save you from wandering all over trying to find a great deal. 😊
Check for 2024 toyota corola new design car looks like corvette in front for the money the best
Given the Corolla's reputation for serious reliability and long life, it's the most amount of car for the smallest amount of money and it's fuel efficient too, at 41 miles per gallon. We're going to the local Toyota dealership tomorrow for a test drive.
2014 Honda Accord, 240k miles,still running great!

I drove one of those Honda accords to FL from VA once. Very nice car for traveling long distances.
Thank you for all the great information..
Owned my Acura TSX V6 for 13 years. It is basically a Honda Accord V6. Until this week, when I had to replace the starter, it has never needed a non-consumable part replaced or repaired. It even still has the original belts and hoses which my mechanic swears are still in good shape.

Just picked on of these 2.0t models a month ago! What a great car. I pulled the trigger because of your advice Scotty!
Why does the Toyota Yaris always get OVERLOOKED? They have style they’re small but ride just like a matrix . And never break down and get better gas miles then rest of Toyota lineup! I have a 08 sedan
1.5l 4 speed auto w/OD
And get 500 miles to that 10 gal tank and that’s mixed highway 60% city 30-40%
I love mine I just do oil changes and brakes and tires. Only repair was fuel pump and did myself in 1 hour and costed $100
The Yaris is totally overlooked. I drive an ‘07 manual transmission with 150,000+ miles, only car I ever bought new so all miles are mine and the only repair it’s needed has been replacing a fuel sensor. It’s a zippy little car with great gas mileage and reliable as can be. Don’t understand why they discontinued it.
I owned 2 Toyota Carollas that I drove for years that never broke down , I regret ever selling them cause every other car I owned after that was crap. My next vehicle is gonna be a Toyota for sure.
Ive have that same Honda Accord, 2021
Touring trim... literally like a base luxury call with all the amenities

he really likes the Mazda CX-5 from his other videos, I know that. Still 100% made in Japan and no CVTs.
Great info 😊
Nice tip on checking out the odometer. I'm having a delivery arrangement for tomorrow. I'm nervous and excited about it. I invited as many ppl as I could to look the car over. Plus, if it's worth keeping, I'll have my mechanic or dealership check it out.
Before watching the video, I already knew it was going to be Honda Accord, Civic, Toyota Camry and Corolla. I am looking to buy a 2015-2017 camry or a 2017-2018 ex civic. What do you think of them?
Most reliable car is actually Toyota Hybrids based on 2.5L engine. They go into Camry, RAV4, Highlander and Sienna. But you need hybri as it comes with planetary indestructable transmission. Do not buy regular gas models as they all come with traditional 8 speed automatic, which is good but nowhere near planetary transmission of hybrids.
Scotty I've been watching your videos for years. I really enjoy every one of them! Keep keeping on brother! Rev up your engine!
Thank you Scotty✨😊✨
Hey scotty, im your biggest fan because i got a 2003 toyota camry as my first car, and I already love it
I definitely changed my tires a few months after I brought my Accord the factory tires traction is terrible and road noise is bad, brought better quality tires problem solved.
"happy entry music" 😆 my mum used to be really irritated by the chime in my dad's Hyundai 😆 Another Great video Scotty
Thanks for teaching me.
Any of the: Toyota 2.0L, Honda 2.0L, Mazda or Subaru 2.5L's (non-aspirated) work fine with me. Most are in the 165hp to 185hp range, and with a manual stick are rock solid and fun to drive. Never overlook the "FTD" ratio.
I got the civic type R with the 2.0 turbo and I love it ❤️
I miss boring cars-modern cars have way too much flash. I hope consumers move back to basic cars.
Turbos, CVTs, AWD, cameras, sensors, tablets on the dash, electronic parking brakes, lane assist, adaptive cruise, more cameras, more sensors, computers and more computers to compute the computers computer. I don't want any of it! I want simple 4cyl, manual transmission, MADE IN JAPAN.
They cant....because basic cars and trucks arent built ...because these trendy idiots want all this tech...
I miss Corolla wagons. Lower center of gravity than an SUV, so it doesn't need as much exotic tech to keep it on the road.
@@grizzlygrizzle Camry wagons were also great. Sedan body type is simply impractical. It's looks before function.
@@whois3581 I prefer a built in GPS/navigation system, adaptive cruise control, AWD. I live on the Northeastern coast USA, lots of snow. I use landmarks to get around so I don't know street names or locations otherwise. I always wanted adaptive cruise control since I bought my first car, no idea why. I do quite like alloy wheels however. The rest of that I'd pass on though no question not necessary for me in reality.
My car has none of that, including the specifications I'd prefer. It's from 2008, and I keep having to sink $1000's into it ever increasingly. I dislike non Japanese cars in general. Never had an issue with my car until recent years., Sadly I own a Jetta from 2008. I've sunk more than 6x it's current value into repairs in the past 1.5 years so far. Despite the lack of issues before recently. I can't afford to buy a newer car for a long time still. I only really like the Mazda's now from what I've seen anyway. Aside of a few toyota, honda and lexus models, all of which some features I dislike for the price.
Love sunroofs cuz heat rises so if you just open/tilt that and crack a side window it lifts the heat out! Cuz just cracking 2 side windows isn’t as effect since wind doesn’t constantly blow sideways and when it does the heat circles the car before exiting. If it’s a short breeze then not much heat will exit
Compared to sunroof and heat going out rising naturally
People who buy good cars forget they're good over time. They will sell it and get a hyped vehicle and then remember the car they lost.
You are right!!! I sold a 2005 Honda CRV in 2017. What a mistake
Isn't that the truth. I traded a Toyota Highlander for a BMW once, never again!
I love all types of cars but my all time fav is my daily drive, my 2006 Toyota Carolla!
If there's room in the wheel arches you can use slightly higher profile tyres without any major problems. The speedo will be slightly off but as long as you know that it's not an issue. Also you are essentially gearing up the whole car so acceleration will be reduced but gas mileage will improve slightly & you get an old fashioned hot rod type look & a much improved ride.
Weirdly higher profile tyres are often cheaper as well, I thought more rubber more money but apparently not
My '91 Corolla All-Trac was pretty amazing. Handled snow better than my Wrangler.
It’s hard to believe that it took so long for someone to think to get rid of the auto shut off!
And there's no EV on the list 😊
Exactly.
And there never will be lol

MPG... I bought a used 2010 ford edge awhile back. 210,000 miles. I just got back from a 4200 mile road trip through the US and reset all the dash data prior to starting.
If i can trust it, i was getting 24 mpg after all was said and done.
I drove a rented Toyota Camry like the one in the video for 5 days and the fuel gauge didn't move one mm. Great mileage on this car.
My dad wouldn't talk to anybody when he was driving. Maybe that's why he got driver of the year in the state of West Virginia.
Not surprised. When driving, you should only be focused on driving and nothing else.
I dislike sunroofs too. It can be difficult to find sedans without them.
Smokers love them,, lol
Just bought a 2021 Honda Civic Hatchback today. The gal that owned it before or me put this sick big spoiler on it too and laid out some red trim inside. I am a happy happy happy camper 😁
I’ve owned 2 of these 4. Zero issues. 88 Civic, 94 Camry.

When you have a car with manual transmission, you only need to check the codes for the engine. Less hassle and cost.
Not related to this video but . I read an informative article about the return of the straight six engine . The benefits, one intake and exhaust manifold , naturally balanced , cheaper to manufacture , I'd enjoy your input .
I hope it does make a return. Very reliable design. The jeep and Toyota straight sixes were great

20 mpg mixed driving 25+ on a trip.
But we need small cars 🤔🙄🙄
I wouldn't limit myself to any make or model to be honest. You do have to do your research though. Small variations of the same vehicle can have major consequences.
Good preventative maintenance would probably alleviate most of the problems people run into. Make the vehicle last longer.

One more thing about the low profile tires, they sound like a jet aircraft ready to take off. I'm NOT over sensitive, but Jeez.
I love my manual 2.0 civic
Have a 2014 Ford Fusion 1.5 Turbo, got 34 MPG on a long hwy trip. The wife gets about 23 MPG. Lead foot and turbo don't mix.
I've gotten 34 on long, flat expressway trips in my LS400!
Thats pretty bad, getting 60 mpg + on my BMW 320D...
mind you as a mechanic you know it takes a larger engine to get a bigger car moving for example a nearly 4,000 LB base model 1990 Ford Crown Victoria has a 5.0 L V8 engine as its base engine or the first gen Lexus LS 400 was 3,800 LBs with a 4 L V8 under hood the first Toyota product sold to have a V8 engine. the most commonly used V8 engine in the US was 350 Cubic In 5.7 L though there were larger engines I.E. 396 400 and 455 in the 70s though the only version of the Caprice you could get the 7.4 L engine on was the Police interceptor cop car
That camry trd would probably be smoother to drive in real world conditions with a -2 wheel/tire package. I did that to my mini and it corners better, rides smoother, handles wet/snow better, brakes shorter, better fuel econ. These smaller cars with 17"-19" tires are unacceptable for driving on real, pothole filled roads. I like most people have never been to a race track. So those paper thin, heavy, over sized wheel/tires are not beneficial to the everyday driver. Especially if the tires are those deadly run flats
20mpg on a 2.slow front drive engine? I got a 1.6l awd and get 27mpg city and 38mpg highway. Its a 2013 mini country man all4 s with a manual of course. My tdi golf was rated for 43mpg on the highway, i got 58mpg at 72mph average speed. And 54mpg everyday driving at around 50mph average speed in warm weather. A worst 41mpg in cold weather driving same route (no snow). I never had a gas powered car that dropped fuel econ based on temp. That diesel econ dropped like a stone at under 60 degrees outside temp

Scotty I like your advice you're great mechanic there's so many different things that we can learn on here you should have been a school teacher for auto mechanics you're good I like your choices there at the Toyotas and The Hondas but I'm not a Japanese car fan but I I have a job which I'm retiring from soon I drive 50 Mi one way so I put a hundred miles a day on since I'm near 15 years I had an 04 Ford Taurus one trans I had to put in it but I drove that thing 266,000 MI then I bought a 2012 Fusion I have 207,000 on that now and now I just bought myself for retirement a Ford Edge and guess what Scotty always says change that oil that's why these cars last it and yes I use Mobil 1 all the time
I have a 2014 fusion, change with synthetic oil religiously, have 120k on it. I’ve already had to replace door latches, cv axles, axle seal, shifter knob, and soon motor mounts. It hasn’t been horrible, but certainly not great. I will not buy another Ford.
@@biometal770 well they were always saying that after 2012 the fusions were junk because they're made in Mexico the only thing I had to do to mind so far was replaced the two hub bearings 6 sets of brake shoes cuz all my drive is highway driving probably six sets of tires that I can get maybe 35,000 a set and that's really it mine like I said man I change the oil all the time in it and serves me well but like I said it was a rental car well taken care of before I start taking care of it real well

Hey Scotty I'm from Canada I'm looking to buy a truck with four seats what is a good truck to buy that does break down much or causes too much problems and easy to fix on your own. Also I want to use the truck to work start my own side hustle. What's your recommendations?????
My parents bought a brand new bronze 1979 Honda CVCC with a/c AND a Hondamatic 2 speed manual shift transmission for $9000 out the door at Mel Rapton Honda in Sacramento, CA. Where the heck were they selling for 21k???😮
Honda needs to take marketing quotes from Scotty. “Well it’s a Honda so you know it’s going to start”
A turbo is a turbo. Apparently you simply have a prejudice in favor of Honda to approve them
How so? He’s not wrong, twin scroll turbos are unreliable, and a bi turbo setup wouldn’t make sense for a reliable daily. So small single turbo manufactured with quality parts here in America makes the most sense.
Sounds like you have one finger pointing out as three are pointing at you.
I thought he hated turbos
No they are not . . . . different types - single scroll, twin scroll, dual turbos etc.
Well truthfully everybody is struggling with turbos. But........ I have more faith in honda than Ford chevy and dodge with their recall competition.😂😂😂😂😂😂
