Scotty, can you hold your camera a little steadier when you're looking at the diagnostics screen? Like at the 18 minute mark, you're waving your hand around while holding your camera which makes it hard to read the screen you're looking at.
You have to keep your old stuff or buy older used cars if you want to maintain them yourself. The wealthy can afford the cost of ownership. The average owner just goes into debt to buy that new car or pay the massive repair bill.
My grandfather bought a new Impala that burned a quart every 800 miles. The dealership told him that was "within the reasonable range." He got rid of it fast!
@@PapiDoesItYeah, reasonable to who? Is the dealer gonna give free oil? Of course not. Honda has said the same thing in te past with their oil burning engines! Toyota has had oil burning engines too.
Good advice. My brother's Subaru, 2014 Outback, burned oil from the get go. Dealer said 'that's normal'. Right. In 2022, the head gasket blows. Dealer: $7000 to fix. Or we'll give you $7000 for it as is if you buy another car from us. That's what he did, but not another Subaru of course, got a used Buick SUV from them.
I can tell you my the worst vehicle of 2023: Ford Maverick Hybrid. After waiting months for it to actually appear at the dealership due to "supply chain issues" it ran great. For a while. At 21K miles BOTH front axles broke! At the same time! On a 500 mile trip no less. Ford said they couldn't get the parts so they kept it at the dealership until threatened with the Lemon Law, then magically the axles appeared and were installed. It still has outstanding recall issues but they don't have the parts for those either!
Had a 2002 Passat GLX V6 wagon for several years. Spent more on fixing it that I spent buying it. Shoulda got rid of it long before I did. Never liked VWs. But on long trips it was super comfy. The transmission never had any problems. Traded it in on a Honda Accord when the VW had 168k miles on it. Oil leaks, check engine light, rear door latch broke, just one thing after another.
I drive a 2017 Ford Transit 250 cargo van with 252,000 miles on the original motor and it does not use a drop of oil between its 5000 mile oil change intervals.
Kia/Hyundai has at least gotten better with 17k miles and only burning oil. A friend bought a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon brand new and it overheated on the drive home. They towed it back and it needed an entire new engine at 67 miles🤣
I always warn my friends and family not to buy them but they don't listen. They really think they're getting a great deal. That deal goes out the window when your engine blows. It's 2024, there is no reason you shouldn't get 100,000 trouble-free miles, at least when it comes to the engine/transmission. A car that burns oil inside of that is not a good car, period.
I have been saying for years that Hyundai/Kia are junk...I have owned seven GM vehicles and they all run great I have never had or needed warranty work done, now I'm not saying GM is the best car company but my friend is a mechanic and he and I where taking about what car I should buy a Chevy or Kia...he said go with the Chevy sure I enough last June I bought a 2020 Chevy Equinox 2.0T and I love it no problems with it thank God and it gets great gas mileage and the power is nice from the turbo. In conclusion yes Hyundai/Kia undercut nearly every other car company in price but there's a reason for that...they are garbage throw away cars...if my car burned oil at that low miles I would get rid of it .
Had the same exact car ('05 Tiburon), at 30,000 miles it overheated and blew a head gasket on a busy freeway. Super expensive bill (had to tear the whole engine apart) and fixing was way beyond my paygrade/experience. Cooling systems on them just weren't built to last. As a kid I still loved it though, and I know it was cheap because my Dad bought it 😂 Drove it up til about 110k / 13yrs with otherwise standard maintenance, sold it off to a friend of a friend for his son and as far as I know, still running fine. Overall would not recommend, I had PTSD for years about check engine lights and the temperature gauge, etc. But it did teach me it was worthwhile to learn about cars.
RIP my 2014 Sonata that just blew an engine at 135,500 miles and being well maintained with Mobil 1 oil changes every 3-5k. I just bought an ‘05 Toyota with 50k original miles for close to the same price as the used engine replacement would have been
When I took my car into the Kia dealer it was left overnight in about 7degrees above zero weather, & they said on startup they heard no noise !. The car was 6 months old, & made enough noise everyone at work turned to see what the noise was ! I got a bore scope camera, & took a look at the cylinder walls, & they were badly scored at only 50,000 miles My car is not on the official recall list ,but is in one of the 6 Canadian class action lawsuits against Kia
Our Canada needs to start refusing these garbage companies to sell their junk in our country, period! Just fills up our landfill and the recyclers my like it. Keeps the courts busy. Junk!
Most content providers hate these comments because they make for less interaction with their videos, which affects they're placement in the suggested channels/videos area.
💯 true i had a kia Sorrento burned oil starting at 50k they told me it's only excessive if it's more than 1 qt every 1k miles and that .5 to .75 qts per 1k was not bad. Wouldn't fix it even under warranty. Never will buy a kia again. Also had problems at my kia dealership on tires wearing at 20k miles that they wouldnt honor the warranty saying even though I got them rotated on time i didnt get an alignment each time. I said i took it to your dealership why didnt u align it? He said they dont do that there. Never Kia anything again. Picked up a 2023 Honda Ridgeline RTL after u called it the best truck nobody knows about and love it so far. Thanks Scotty!
Just went through this with my GF's Kia. Took it in twice to check oil consumption, it was burning about a quart every 800 miles. They wouldn't fix it. Finally then engine blew. They did replace the engine without any fuss, though.
I had a 2016 Golf Made in Mexico, an Oil change at the dealer during warrantee $150, 1st shift switch recall then a small pinhole in the rad after warrantee, and then a $1000 O2 sensor on the Cat. Traded it for a Subaru
I was shopping for a new car a few years ago and test drove a Soul. I had to floor the thing just to get from the dealer's parking lot onto the road. Absolute garbage even when it isn't outright burning oil.
I can’t understand why so many people buy Kia or Hyundai in the first place. Spend a little more and get a Honda or Toyota which is gonna last a lot longer.
Hi SCotty, great reviews. I had recently driven a Kia Soul as a rental car , I will never buy one its a rolliing POS. My rental when I got it had already clocked 65K kms on the car, the auto stop feature on the car is junk and the engine well....... Keep up the great work. ves from Ottawa Canada
Scotty - the 2012 VW Passat I used to own had the same 2.5L that was bullet proof as far as I could tell and a toyota aisin transmission. That was a winning combo. Unfortunately, a truck smashed into it!
I have a friend who works at a VW dealership in the part's department he told me they sell $300,000 in part's on the retail side every month. The shop side is astronomical 2-3 time's the retail side plus labor. That's in Nebraska BTW
I am 62 yrs old and have been through many cars....some brand new some used......I wanted to keep miles off my last new car....had a LONG commute to work......bought a used x rental TOYOTA YARIS 5 DOOR HATCHBACK. of all the cars I have bought over the years THIS has been the only car that I have owned for 10 years and NOTHING ever needed fixed...just change the oil evey 5k....It is my favorite car....the smallest least expensive car.....ITS A KEEPER!...SCOTTY is RIGHT!
@@trdtrek3717 nothing as major or consistent as Kia for example catastrophic engine failures blowing up catching fire, transmission’s failure, burning excessive oil and claiming it’s normal not wanting to honor warranty lol at least Toyota has corrected any mistakes and took responsibility same for Honda granted nobody is perfect. Kia and Hyundai haven’t improved much that’s the difference 🙄
@@trdtrek3717 the thing with Kia/Hyundai is it's been a recurring issue that their larger 4 cylinder engines are prone to catching fire. The problem goes back over a decade, and they still haven't properly addressed it. Other car manufacturers have recalls, but they usually resolve them in time. Kia/Hyundai seem to be doing whatever they can to avoid fixing the problems they're having.
My nephew has been beating the **** out of his 2019 Forte since new. I think he's up to 70k trouble-free miles at this point... somehow. Seriously, he races anything that moves regardless of whether it's racing HIM or not.
Spot on for VW, I had a 90s Jetta GLI. I speak to folks with modern ones, they seem to have the same issues. CV joints, door handles, motor mounts..... I poured every dollar I had into keeping it rolling to get to work and school. Such a total waste. Motor never had an issue!
The worst part about Kia/ Hyundai is the dealership experience. My god i had to contact the manufacturer and call them then told em if they don't want to look at the intrument cluster glitch then I'm going elsewhere which was covered under warranty. Then after they applied software updatethey asked for 5 stars and i gave them 1. What a scam.
Scotty I dont think you are frank enough. I like your up yours salute you gave at the end. I had a 1998 Dodge 1500 and a 2008 Dodge 1500 and the 1998 is at about 300,000 miles with the 360 engine. The paint and plastic dash are gone but it is still running. The 2008 dodge was made of mostly Bosch parts and that truck run great up to over 130,000 when I sold it. The newer Dodge trucks are crap as you said because like most vehicles now a days they are all plastic and too complicated. My current 2010 Tundra has 145,000 miles and runs like a clock. Plus I get 18 MPG with the 4.6L v8. My theory of cars is run them till the wheels fall off and get out and put them back on. The Toyota Tundra is a better driving truck over the Dodges I had as good as they were. Like you I only buy used cars because I let someone else take the depreciation buying a new car and driving it off the lot and it is worth less than you paid for it.
Had to rent a car while getting a new clutch into my 05 Vue 5speed manual (282k original clutch). It was a 2022 Corolla. Best newer car I’ve driven! Over 40 mpg on the highway. Great ride and a solid vehicle. Would seriously consider owning one some day.
I own a '17 Ram, original owner. Has been a great truck. The Hemi is a strong, reliable engine if you take care of it. The ZF transmission is solid. Yes, they do have some nit picky issues, but all in all I've been very happy with it. I expect at least 300,000 miles out of it, if rust doesn't take it first.
I wouldn't let any car go over 5000 without an oil change no matter what oil and filter I was using so in that case half a quart over the first 5000 would not be terrible. Can the auto stop/start be turned off?
I had a Hyundai. Everything was great until I had issues and had to deal with that company. Since then it has been Hondas and Toyotas. That fixed my problem.
There are a lot of people who like to work on their on cars in Europe. There are 'right to repair' laws here but it's still a fight to get repair data. Was looking for a Bugatti Veyron manual few weeks back. Only found 1 source, $7,500 ... for a workshop manual!
The new 2.5L, four-cylinder engine is a wonder of modern engineering from Hyundai/KIA!!! Just check out the latest Consumer Reports April Auto Issue for 2024!!!
I agree, there’s no need to have a vacuum pump for the brake booster on a conventional setup unless the intake manifold spends a lot of time under positive pressure … my ‘89 Mazda 626 was a 2.0L turbo, thus had electric cruise control when vacuum cruise was common, though it had a large enough reservoir for vacuum brake boost. $1800 for an electric vacuum pump is crazy expensive. The worst idea was voice coil electric brake boost. Nissan tried that on the LEAF EV starting in 2011. The electric boost was unreliable and Nissan returned to vacuum boost by 2014 with an electric pump to make vacuum.
@@Morboeatspeople Yes, the MX-6 had the oscillating vents and there was a button to turn them on or off as desired. It was a pretty good idea and aI’m surprised it seems to have disappeared. Even though the MX-6 was mechanically very similar to the Ford Probe, some of the interior things were Mazda specific and I believe the Ford did not get the oscillating vents. The MX-6 also had a very rare option for rear wheel steering which I believe Ford never offered at all on the Probe.
Toyota makes the best cars in the biz bar none. You truly only appreciate these cars with years of trouble free driving. I bought my 2005 Camry used and I still drive it almost 20 years later. Over 350,000 kms. Toronto, Canada
It's insane how people who have Kia's and Hyundai's defend them. The people who never had one or got rid of one can only laugh. You can't tell them as anything. What are the odds of this particular Kia soul owner of ever buying another Kia. Around zero?
@@djplonghead5403 Even if you religiously maintain your car, some just aren't reliable. It's because they're built like crap because it's cheaper to manufacture. Hyundai and Kia are examples of that.
@@AndrewFaust-dh7kg True. Kia and Hyundai have been putting serious effort to fixing their vehicles and reputation (still not enough). Their styling is top notch and really seem to care about the future of cars. Many people say that their ev's from the two companies have been excellent and have had little to no problems. I think the charging network is still too poor to get an EV though. Still, I would say that the owner, driving habits, and maintenance history is more important to the vehicle than who built it. Our family has a 2000 Celica that is all rusted, the battery is held with a bungy cord, and engine has a horrible idle problem all because of the previous owner. Yesterday we fixed the exhaust because the mount to hold the muffler rotted away causing it to drag on the ground. Our 1992 s-10 has 226,000 miles and still drives. We bought it will 220,000 miles. It needs a new clutch and has some idle issues because the family member who owns it doesn't care for it as much as it needs (the oil gets checked very rarely.)
Had a 2020 Jeep Wrangler, No Issues with vehicle in 4 years and over 60k miles. But the dealership tried to tell it needed new break and rotots at 12k miles. I told them your not talklng to a green horn. I have had work truck that weight 7k to 9k and never needed breaks pads or rotors till about 70k miles. I also towed heavy loads from time to time. The delerships are steeler ships.
Weird part is, I know a chick who looks just like her and drove a matching black VW until December. I thought I was having a stroke when she showed up in this video 😆 NOT in the British sense.
240,000 miles on the Celica. Last time you showed the odometer it was 239,000. One 500 mile roundtrip. You are a classic Scotty.....please change that oil.
I have a 2020 Trailhawk with a hemi. I change the oil twice a year whether it needs it or not. My wife babies it (sometimes too much), just waiting for the first electrical thing to die.
I never heard that....when?. I have a 2017 Crosstrek bought it brand new...never let it go over 6k for a change... never heard anyone suggesting over 6 for them
I had an E30 IC with a few modifications. It was so much fun but such a pain in the dink to maintain. Glad I discovered Miatas before their prices went through the roof :p
I must have been lucky with my 07 Jetta, picked it up for a few hundred and it served me well for a good four or five years before i sold it. I think besides regular maintenance there was one issue with oil leaking that was easily fixed. Definitely wasn't my expectation for my first turbo diesel, I'd expect a lot of headaches and it turned out to be a great reliable car. The engine is great as well, not only reliable but actually really fun. The weight to power ratio means you can get ahead of much more expensive and powerful cars for the first few thousand revs. It sounds great for a small car and it's got a lot more guts than I thought it would. It also saved me a ton on fuel since the government decided to lock diesel prices to help with shipping costs. I never would have bought a Jetta if it wasn't for the suspiciously too good to be true price but it turned out to be one of my favourites.
I have a 22 Kona 2.0. With 17000 Miles. Leaking Coolant. Its at the Dealer for the Third time in Dec. The car has lost about 1/2 Gallon within 1000 Miles. ITM was replaced. Now I am told they think its hose near the Thermostat Housing. The other side of the engine. At least the Dealer gave me a 23 Elantra Limited for a Loaner. You're Right about the Stop/Start. Waiting t see when I get Rear Ended because of it.
Huyndai I-10 2013 model 248000 km on the clock.Doesn't burns any oil at all.engine 1,0ltr. All depends how you drive my opinion.I bought it new with 7km on the clock.
I've owned 3 hyundais that I bought new over the last 20 years and had great luck with them but I can say their service departments are criminal. The car I have now is a 2023 and it suppose to include a 3yr/36k mile complimentary service. Not only did I pay for my first service but they didn't use the required 0-20 full synthetic oil, they used a semi synthetic oil. I would personally take my car to a private service repair facility because I don't trust them and remember the power train warranty is only 10 years 100k miles. After that repairs are on the owner.
hello, they did the same thing to me. I looked at manual and it did say that OW 20s recommended but if you do use semi synthetic change change it at 5000 miles. I have researched this question online as well . now I can take it where I want.
I got an old 2v 4.6l .. bought all new parts and rebuilt the motor watching youtube videos ...runs perfect and burns 0 oil ,, the parts for the 4.6L very cheap .. new cams $200 ,, new valves $75 ,, o HP oil pump $36 ,, Timing chain kit $120 ,,, oi seals $50 ,, stock piston kits ,, CHAEP
2.0L engines have a little more than 2 quarts of oil. If you're burning half a quart every 1000 miles but you're advised to change the oil every 7500 miles... what's left in your engine?
You know, a lot of vehicles made in the last decade burn lots of oil at relatively low miles... its kind of concerning. We had a new chevy trailblazer with the turbo engine come in to our shop, only 5,000 miles on the odometer... it burned a quart of oil
I remember a 1.4 Fiat Stilo. When new, at around 12000km the oil pressure light turned up on a curve. There was almost no oil in the engine. The service switched to 10W40, checked how much it burned and said it was within normal limits. The car ran fine for many years burning some oil, than was sold cheaply, as an old Fiat. Despite severe oil shortage it ran fine up to 6-7000rpm on regular basis for many years. No significant damage, it seems. Anyway, it burned oil and was underpowered for Stilo, but I say it was a pretty not bad engine anyway ;)
I'm super excited and am really hoping Toyota comes out with the hilux champ truck in the USA and Canada! It looks awesome and if Toyota is going back to basics it will be so awesome!!!
fords eco boost 1.0 - 3 cylinder ( ecoboom ) is another complete pile of junk. it's actually worse than Kia's just burning oil issue ... it loses cam wet belts at very low mileage , and clogs up the engine with rubber particles, as well as the known head gasket failures .
Ever since the TFSI oil burning problems around 2010, and the huge problems with gunk in the diesel engines at the time. I pretty much steer clear of VAG in general. Honda or Toyota still seem like a solid bet.
Actually Scotty all car manufacturers including Toyota, Honda, Ford ... etc are not supporting the right to repair. This is why there was class action suit in MA.
Owned VW, Audi, Mercedes, Dodge, Jeep, Ford, Datsun, Lexus, Toyota, Kia over the last 50 years. My Datsuns, Toyotas and Lexus were that best so far. Have bought 2 Kia Optimas, 1 Toyota Corolla and 1 Kia Sorento V6 AWD used with low miles all from Hertz car sales in Phoenix AZ the last 8 years. Regular Synthetic oil changes, filters, batteries, coolant just basic overall maintenance. Only problem was fuel pump warranty recall with Kia, no cost. The totol price for all 4 cars was $ 66,000
I’m amazed my 07 Sorento lasted for 235K before I got rid of it, it had wear and tear on parts I had replaced but the engine itself in that vehicle was surprisingly good and I never burned oil or had any engine issues except a mass airflow sensor that went bad and a leaky coolant overflow tank springing a leak over time of heating and getting cold throughout the years of winter and summer but other then that I never had an engine problem it was actually a decent first car
I have a question. I have a 09 Honda Fit with a out 98,000 miles. I only drive it about 4000 miles a year, how often should I change the oil if I use regular 5w20 oil?
I guess I lucked out with my 2007 Kia Rio with 174K miles on it. I also have a 2009 Huyndai Sonata. Use Mobil 1 in both and keep them changed around 5 K miles. I am so happy they both are NOT direct inject motors.
Volkswagen did the same to me. At 2 years and 40k miles it started burning. They told me it was normal. I fought with them. I went to 3 dealers, called the warranty company… nothing. Just died 6/28/24. I bought it 6/29/14 RIP beetle convertible. I never had this issue with my 2006 one but 2015 turbo was junk
I wondered if the KIA was burning oil or leaking oil, but nope, just crappy craftsmanship. I bought a new GMC High Sierra in 1984. I got 3 miles from the dealership and the low oil light came on. I immediately turned off the exit to a station, popped the hood and saw oil on the engine where the oil sending switch was seated. Somebody at the factory had cross-threaded the sensor when they installed it at the factory. That should have been my hint to give the vehicle back, after that it was all downhill.
I had a Kia Soul from 2011-2015 and it was a fantastic car the first 80k and then nothing but headaches after that. I was rear-ended by a Tacoma and was glad it got totalled.
Me at the dealership: I'm going to buy your new car Dealer: please take a ride Me after opening the drivers door: but it's made in Mexico . Im not buying it Dealer: why ...? Me: because Scotty says so Dealer: !!! Me: bye bye
Scotty ...U are 100% right "WE" in GERMANY built reliable cars until 1996, then quality and reliabilty did not count no more ....just the profit for the shares owners..buy a BMW 525 ´92 OR MB 260E THEY LAST 500KMLS or even longer... BMW AUTOMATIC-NO; MB MANUAL - NO!
While it was under warranty they should have taken it back and demanded that it get fixed or they get their money back by suing the company. Kia had this same problem in Britain - until a customer drove one through the showroom windows and then set it alight and burned down the dealer showrooms. Kia quickly got the message and recalled them and put in high quality oil and piston rings and :VOILA' problem solved. FUNNY HOW THEY 'SAW THE LIGHT'!!!.😂😂😂😂 PS - I had a 96 Volvo 850 2.0 GLT. When I bought it, it had 20k on it. When I sold it with 101K and NEVER burnt so much as thimble full of oil. I religiously changed the oil/filter and flushed it at 3k and used fully synthetic oil - mind you Volvo engines of that era were made to last and they used quality internal parts. It seems that Kia are diberately making rubbish engines and offering excuses for a shoddy product - BUT, WHAT'S REALLY BAFFLING IS THAT CUSTOMERS ARE BELIEVING THEIR HORSESHIT!!.
I have 2016 mk6 Jetta s 5 speed mt. Only 68k miles on it and the car has been off the road the last two years. I bought a Lexus last year with 200k miles. That Jetta has the 1.8 t and that thing burns oil like crazy. The oem manual transmission tends to have defected parts. Check engine light loves to come on and the evap light also. I had to change the belt, the tail light went out, the grill shutters stay stuck open. And not to mention the cheap materials in the interior. The plastic hazard light button started to melt. Not to mention the car tends to get flat tires on any little bump in the road. Mind you this car was bought brand new and only has 68k miles. My Lexus however the check engine light never comes on and the car just goes with basic maintenance.
1995 Camry 455000 miles didn't use no oil..Oil was changed every 3000 it whole life..The wife used it for work social worker 30000 miles a year..Had to do a reseal at 350000 but after that back to normal use..Good car..
My wife bought a Kia sorento with the 2.4l before we started dating, it has no issues yet at 67k miles besides a front shock clunking. Next car will be a car recommended by Scotty! My 93 Jeep XJ with 210k miles doesn't burn any oil between changes.
Scotty please discuss more on Ford Diesel Trucks 7-3 Power stroke 6-0 6-4 and new 6-7 power stroke not always Honda Nissan and Toyota Never owned any of those foreign little cars Thanks
Because newer ones suck. Too many computers, plastic, and I suspect, shitty Chinese parts, made of Genuine Chinesium and Chinecrapite, slapped together by pissed off workers.
The Soul may have been sold as a young person car but it's a good retired persons car (assuming they don't drive high mileage). Even with the one in the vid, if you don't drive much and change the oil every six months you'll never burn oil and the car will last for years (maybe not decades but at least as long as the 10 year warranty). Yeah VWs are fun to drive...while they're working. Your mechanic will love your choice;) The TDI was actually a fun little car with the manual.
I had an 06 Jetta TDI (manual) ran it for 10 years. Blew a cylinder head at 160k miles. Fun to drive, but you're not kidding about the repair costs. Every visit to the dealership was $1500 - $3500. Never again.
I had a 2.5L Jetta for a couple of years and had no problems whatsoever. That engine is actually one of the best VW ever made. Silky smooth, great sound, power and it lasts forever if you take care of it. I actually think those folks got ripped off big time with that 6k bill.

Unless it's a Subaru 😂
Unless it has a 2 stroke engine. 😅
Wow !!
I sold mine at 20k after already having a lot of issues. Exhaust heat exchanger , Radio , brake issues, airbags not good look Ford
that's unreal. man. i was looking at the Maverick for a future vehicle. maybe not
@@johnguel9023why woukd you sell it when thats all warranty work.....im sure you lost money.. dont buy brand new...especially a pretty new model..

My 2018 ford transit 350 is the same. Not nearly as many miles but still no oil loss.
The ford cargo truck are more reliable than consumer vehicles due to the fact it will be used for business purposes
We have a 2017 transit 250 with 410,000 miles and burns no oil with oil changed every 10,000 miles
Probably uses at as many quarts of oil every 5000 miles, as you need for an oil change. 😂😉
Kia/Hyundai has at least gotten better with 17k miles and only burning oil. A friend bought a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon brand new and it overheated on the drive home. They towed it back and it needed an entire new engine at 67 miles🤣
Wtf 😂
I had a brand new Hyundai i30/Elantra. It was a nightmare!
As a kid I still loved it though, and I know it was cheap because my Dad bought it 😂
Drove it up til about 110k / 13yrs with otherwise standard maintenance, sold it off to a friend of a friend for his son and as far as I know, still running fine.
Junk!

Spot on for VW, I had a 90s Jetta GLI.

The worst part about Kia/ Hyundai is the dealership experience. Then after they applied software updatethey asked for 5 stars and i gave them 1. What a scam.
Scotty, always a breath of fresh air. happy New Year to you. Don San Jose, CA. 12-30-2023.
I love all the knowledge he shares when talking about how engines work. Scotty you the best :)
Scotty has the best car advice in 2023.
1:10 Seven years running, the 94 Celica still has 240k miles on it!
I can’t believe there are people on this earth who spend more than 5 grand on something without even researching it’s reliability and track record 😂
Just make sure to put rust protection on it so that it can last for years to come.
I wouldn't let any car go over 5000 without an oil change no matter what oil and filter I was using so in that case half a quart over the first 5000 would not be terrible. Can the auto stop/start be turned off?
Exactly. this people always exaggerate things.
That's crazy!
Did you have the oscillating vents?? I miss my black '89 626 GT Turbo...

German Taco made my day 😂
I remember a 1.4 Fiat Stilo.

You should be changing the oil every 5000 miles or every 6 months whichever is sooner if you are using synthetic.

Once a year
I guess I lucked out with my 2007 Kia Rio with 174K miles on it. I also have a 2009 Huyndai Sonata. Use Mobil 1 in both and keep them changed around 5 K miles. I am so happy they both are NOT direct inject motors.
My son’s Jetta was nothing but a money pit.
What went wrong with it? Which year? I have never had a problem with mine.

Kia quickly got the message and recalled them and put in high quality oil and piston rings and :VOILA' problem solved. FUNNY HOW THEY 'SAW THE LIGHT'!!!.😂😂😂😂
PS - I had a 96 Volvo 850 2.0 GLT.
I had a kia sedona with 238,500 miles and it didn't burn or leak a drop of oil and I did 10,000 mile oil changes
My wife and I had 2 Souls for 59K miles each. A fuel level sensor got replaced. No big deal. Loved them enough to buy a new Forte GT line.
Be glad you didn't keep them any longer. 59k miles is nothing. I think I've had lawn mowers that lasted that long.
Happy New Year Scotty ❤ enjoy your content ✌🏻🫶🏻
1995 Camry 455000 miles didn't use no oil..Oil was changed every 3000 it whole life..The wife used it for work social worker 30000 miles a year..Had to do a reseal at 350000 but after that back to normal use..Good car..
My wife bought a Kia sorento with the 2.4l before we started dating, it has no issues yet at 67k miles besides a front shock clunking. Next car will be a car recommended by Scotty! My 93 Jeep XJ with 210k miles doesn't burn any oil between changes.
That jeep will run forever.
Get rid of that Sorento while you can. Hurry.
Scotty please discuss more on Ford Diesel Trucks 7-3 Power stroke 6-0 6-4 and new 6-7 power stroke not always Honda Nissan and Toyota Never owned any of those foreign little cars Thanks
Why are we talking about used cars from 2007 for a 2023 list?
Only 1 was from 2007. But VW's haven't really been good cars since the early 2000's, and it still applies today.
My daily driver is a 2001 Honda Insight. 2007 doesn’t feel all that old. My youngest car is 2017. 😊
Are you new on this channel?
Because newer ones suck. Too many computers, plastic, and I suspect, shitty Chinese parts, made of Genuine Chinesium and Chinecrapite, slapped together by pissed off workers.

BEST Vehicle of 2023 ...A 94 Celica.
Scotty, my 07 Ford Focus has 286k miles and it doesn't burn or leak a drop of any liquid.
I was quoted $600 to replace the brake vacuum pump in my 06 Jetta. And no the transmission did not have to be removed.
@@paulking4908 that sounds about right. still sucks but not the end of the world.
I have learned over time TOYOTA IS BETTER
