The custom attire is a big one for me. You would think with a brand like venum They could partner with the fighter to come up with custom fight shorts that they could sell online and split those profits with that individual fighter. It's definitely an incentive for fighters to fight more. If you have one fighter who ends up fighting three times in a year and he has three different sets of shorts that fights in then you have for him three different checks that he could collect on top of his fighter pay. The other thing about this is you don't have to make them permanent. Each fighter kit could be up for a limited time like up to 2 months after the fighter fights then once they're gone, they're gone forever. People would be really incentivized to pick up those shorts right then.
True but it's not in the UFC interest to make the fighter make money outside of them. They want the fighters to believe that the UFC is their only way to make money, so they stay in the middle of every transaction and the money only goes from the UFC to the fighter and that's it. I think making them for the TOP 5 fighters or something is kinda doable or at least champions ?
The fight clock gets a sponsor, the announcement gets a sponsor, the tale of the tape gets a sponsor, the replays get a sponsor... Go back 10 years and the events weren't saturated with advertising. I'd rather see Condom Depot on some dude's ass than hear about Toyo Tyres in the middle of a round.
it's because the UFC gets that money, they don't want their fighters to get paid so they have a weaker position on terms of a contract, because they need the money.
Definitely agree on tournaments. Any time a champion like GSP x2, Cejudo x2 or even Ngannou leave the division as champion, I think the best way to add prestige back to the title is to do a tournament. Most divisions can be easily set up as one and offer a bonus incentive for some showmanship like how Bellator did theirs
Tournament are also useful to determine the next title challenger in a stacked division such as Lightweight or Bantamweight. Or potentially even a new division, lets say the UFC introduce an Atomweight division for the ladies, a Tournament makes perfect sense to crown a champion.
I think the Problem is that after a tournament all of the top guys apart from the winner have recently lost which means that the division kind of cleared itself

I think custom design would be great. There's no way UFC in it's current state would allow sponsors, but they should at least allow the fighters to sit down with a Venum artist and hash out what they want. Honestly, tournaments would be a great way to boost non-numbered UFC events, plus you could help setup certain fights a lot better/easier. Admittedly there's still going to be fighters that they'll protect, but it can also be a good test for the more unproven stars. Agreed on weigh-ins, one and done, raise the stakes.
Ufc has become so corporate and focused on meeting ESPN deadlines on events that they wouldn’t take risks on tournaments. Too many factors they prefer the smooth generic way
Yeah I had for a long time always thought it'd be a cool Idea to have a tournament when there's a vacant title. Could you imagine the epic lightweight tournament we would had when Khabib left.
The UFC doesn't like to use the tournament format because they can't control the narrative and it takes away the UFC's power during contract negotiations and match making. While the sport isn't rigged in the UFC by the traditional sense of the term, the UFC has almost all of the power when it comes to who they want you to fight, and they use that power to derail one guy in order to promote the other. They'd be giving up a majority of their leverage they have during match making if they do tournaments. Take for example Usman's reign at WW as the champion. There wouldn't have been so many rematches taking place for the belt if they made a tournament, because it wouldn't be possible with the process of elimination. I want to see UFC tournaments as well, especially at LW and Bantam. I just don't see them adopting the format because it takes away their power over the fighter. A good example of this is taking place right now in Bellator with Aj Mckee ever since he won the tournament, he's been extremely difficult to negotiate with and isn't even trying to reclaim his belt after he lost it controversially. He knows his value raised and is looking for the exit. lol
@@panspermiapancakes Very recently Justin Gaethje turned down the fight against Rafael Fiziev, frustratingly holding up the Lightweight division even further and losing my respect for Gaethje as well. A Tournament format could have helped solve this problem as if you turn down a fight, you drop out of the tournament and potentially lose your ranking as well. At least the Bantamweights are willing to fight each other.
Ceremonial weigh ins I find very revealing. I never finalise a bet until I've seen the ceremonial weigh in. An example would be when I was going to have Till beat Brunson until I saw how nervous Till looked at the ceremonial weigh in and changed to Brunson.

Getting rid of flags was such a weird decision. The president of the United States can sit front row at a fight but fighters walking out with flags is too political?
The UFC has stripped fighters of their individuality bit by bit. First it was the custom attire, then the sponsors, then the T-shirts and now the flags are gone. To borrow a phrase from a UFC champion (Francis Ngannou); this is sucks.

The question is HOW. While I recognize that’s not the scope of this video, I would have loved to hear you touch on the objections that are business related rendering these inactive in the first place. Not as a challenge to the point, but to hear your knowledgeable opinion about even the most basic of business conflict. Eg tournaments. Dana makes it no secret he wouldn’t be here without boxing and this concept you described sounds like a modification of essentially the early unification series (think how Tyson got his first strap vs Berbick). It’s likely when you make everything a tournament, it limits the flexibility of the UFC to sell the “why” of the fight. When you have +50 shows a year, you enter tourney fatigue REAL quick among the audience. How do you sell Chimaev vs Diaz without an independent storyline if it had to be a tourney? Would they even meet? Or how about all the added pressure and stress media appearances add to the burden of an already mission critical fight camp. While much of these would be phenomenal for us but at the detriment to the fighter. Probably gets into the weeds to have to comment on this in a bite sized video but I’d actually love next time to hear even a bit on this kinda stuff
ofc theyre not gonna talk about it cause they know most of the stuff said is impossible to bring back. idk why people even bother asking for half the stuff its just a waste of energy
That's crazy that people are watching the fights early in the AM. I never think about the time difference for those outside the states. It rarely affects us and when it does it just puts the fights in the afternoon instead of at night
Ikr. Sometimes I'm excited to watch a fight, and end up falling asleep before the main event anyway when it ends up coming on at 7am lol. I just ended up getting fight pass and watching the card when it's available.
They should do more tributes to the past and bring back the older cage on occasion like on that Denver card with TKZ v Yair the older canvas looked better than the new one imo
I really like the live commentary scoring by judges. I honestly think something like that might not only make fans hate judges less, knowing specifically how it's done, but would make better judges. If you have to talk through how you make a decision, you're probably going to make better decisions.
they should bring back the fight breakdowns with dan hardy. i love how he provides in depth analysis on fighters and point out some strategies before an event.
#1 is something u can’t really comment on bc ur not a fighter. Yeah the old weigh ins are beneficial to the fans but it’s the fighters who are dehydrated and ask any fighter and they’ll tell u they’ll much rather weigh in at 11AM then be on weight and dehydrated even longer and have to weigh in hours later at 8PM
All UFC fighters NOT on the card should be able to vote after the end if each round (this could be done on various platforms for them) then show the audience "64% of UFC fighters had McGregor winning that round, 32% had it for Diaz and 2% were undecided" That would be sick
The last full card being on Fightpass only, that I can recall, was when Welie won the belt from Andrade. The main event was on at like 10 am on a Saturday , because that shit was in China.
@@sionnfox6893 Yeah ... that would suck. Luckily, I don't have to deal with that very often at all. But I do feel for y'all. When those fights are in Abu Dubai, I hear the fighters have to go out at like 3 am there. Main event starting at 4 or 5 am. Thats just koo-koo!
Coming from a fighter who does small shows where they weigh you in then face you off while dehydrated, it sucks and I hate it😂 it also sucks when I’m on weight at 11 am but can’t start rehydrating until 5 pm when I get to officially weigh in. If I could weigh in in the morning then face off that afternoon id feel 10x better
That's not fair to the champion. It should be a tournament with the winner getting the championship fight. Or when a champ vacates then have a tournament for a new champion.
They should bring back the early features of the fight pass player. You could activate annotations to skip to action filled parts of the fight, skip to tale of the tape, moment of finshes, very useful for people who don't have a lot of time.

So simple, obvious and true; there's something about how Cruz responded to TJ. The way that he was already smirking as he spoke... as though he knew that his mind had roasted him without needing even a moment to think about it. His response is of course the obvious answer. But that he was already proud of himself was awesome stuff 👏 It's like from that episode of Seinfeld where George wished he could have gone back in time with a better comeback. It's like Cruz had already seen this before, and couldn't hold back his giddiness... Basically the exact opposite of what I just did. Sorry fellas. Adhd got me.
the head to head interview one for sure. That used to be one of my favorite ways they hyped boxing fights. Such iconic ones like the Cotto vs Margarito 2 face off
I was in Japan for the last 4 years and the time zone was perfect for watching ufc. It was like brunch on Sunday into the afternoon and then Monday everyone is talking about what happened the day before. Now I’m on east coast and it’s soooo late!
Ngannou conceding that "I understand that the sport needs to look good with uniforms" hits the nail on the head as to why exactly this was no accident and had little to do even with the Reebok deal. Uniforms are for team sports. They're completely foreign to MMA culture and not a natural part of its evolution. The idea that anyone could "understand" that it "needs" them as a part of its aesthetic and without them does not look sharp seems insane. But one of the slogans and public relations lines that the UFC has long hit hardest is *precisely* that it *is* a team. Whenever contracts or any other thing about its relationship to its fighters is discussed, they have always taken pains to frame it in that way. That, as a single, unitary promotion, UFC is to be thought of as the LA Lakers rather than the NBA, let alone like a boxing association. If they can keep hitting this message and get the public to completely internalize it, it profoundly changes the way they mentally frame and conceive of them and their relation to their fighters. This is the most extreme, most profound, and most ingenious way of doing that yet.
Fightpass would be an absolute smash hit, if they added comments to get a back and forth between fans. The lack if commenting is absolutely killing the platform. People want to debate, and talk about what they just witnessed!
To be fair to the ufc, I believe the in round judging is sort of (for main events at least) being hit a bit by Din Thomas between rounds. But the biggest flaw is the judging system itself not having ex fighters or experts in it, and not being consistent
Tournament idea: you have an a-league and a b-League with a one year turn around. A league has 10 fighters fixed and the b League varies between 20 and 30. The a-league fights you go by matchups that are interesting and good (with some just because you need to fight). And the b-league have two tournaments a year. Three losses you're out of the a league and must wait until the next b league tournament with winners staying in A league.
It gives you continual rankings and a variety of fights with interesting upsets beyond stylistic stuff. If an a-league fighter goes out with injury all you have to do is look at the last b league tournament and see who the top ranked person would be to step into an a-league fight. Smaller more intimate venues for lower level tournaments with the a league fight being the main event. Conclusions of tournaments could be big venue.
I'd be more interested in ufc merch if it had a touch of the fighter's flare that I want to root for incorporated into it. Think something with Samurai themes and Jiri Prochazka
It would be cool to see a crossover like how WWE does smack down vs raw. Then again, I really just wanted to see Cormier vs emelianenko but that’s never going to happen.
I always forget how lucky I am to live in a city (Vancouver) which runs on pacific time. A PPV ending at 1:00am or instead of 10:00pm would suck and thats not even mentioning the fans in Europe.

I'd love it if instead of 5 x 5min rounds it was just 25mins for a title fight or 15mins for non-title. Plus the idea of sudden death rounds would be great and stop so many bad decisions.
It would never happen because everyone cross trains multiple disciplines now, but seeing the old "muay Thai vs wrestling, Judo vs boxing, karate vs jiujitsu style fights were great. I loved that feature

I really like the live commentary scoring by judges. I honestly think something like that might not only make fans hate judges less, knowing specifically how it's done, but would make better judges. If you have to talk through how you make a decision, you're probably going to make better decisions.
Din Thomas role in between rounds is dope. Step towards bringing back that Eddie bravo role
they should bring back the fight breakdowns with dan hardy. i love how he provides in depth analysis on fighters and point out some strategies before an event.
Getting so close to 1 MILLION subscribers!!! That's wild. Early congrats to you guys.
All UFC fighters NOT on the card should be able to vote after the end if each round (this could be done on various platforms for them) then show the audience "64% of UFC fighters had McGregor winning that round, 32% had it for Diaz and 2% were undecided"
That would be sick
The last full card being on Fightpass only, that I can recall, was when Welie won the belt from Andrade. The main event was on at like 10 am on a Saturday , because that shit was in China.
lmao, welcome to the struggles of being a european fan when ufc fight cards start at 3am. :D
Thats just koo-koo!
dominick cruz calling tj a dummy brings me so much joy
I miss the fighters having sponsor banners behind them, hanging on the cage.
I miss the gladiator theme and song during the ppv's.
Man a ufc welterweight grand prix would be soooo good, with leon in the bracket defending and the last man standing being crowned champ
That's not fair to the champion. It should be a tournament with the winner getting the championship fight. Or when a champ vacates then have a tournament for a new champion.
@@Thor-Orion they do it like that on bellator as well whoever is the best welterweight will actually walk out champ
They should bring back the early features of the fight pass player. You could activate annotations to skip to action filled parts of the fight, skip to tale of the tape, moment of finshes, very useful for people who don't have a lot of time.
2:35 we did get a face to face with Cruz and Vera which was very fun to watch, I hope the do more of em going forward.
Been a fan of this channel since day one it's awesome to see how far this channel has came and it just keeps grow and getting better
Top 10 prelim fights of 2022 part one and then do a part two at the end of the year. And you guys could do this every year and probably bust out more content and shine a light on lesser known fighters. Can’t wait to see it.
So simple, obvious and true; there's something about how Cruz responded to TJ. The way that he was already smirking as he spoke... as though he knew that his mind had roasted him without needing even a moment to think about it.
His response is of course the obvious answer. But that he was already proud of himself was awesome stuff 👏
It's like from that episode of Seinfeld where George wished he could have gone back in time with a better comeback. It's like Cruz had already seen this before, and couldn't hold back his giddiness...
Basically the exact opposite of what I just did. Sorry fellas. Adhd got me.
The old press conferences need to be a thing again. Chael was the goat. I'd also like to see my boy Rashad get rid of them fkin locks
the head to head interview one for sure. That used to be one of my favorite ways they hyped boxing fights. Such iconic ones like the Cotto vs Margarito 2 face off
Caposa's corner is awesome! Nice to see people dropping plugs for each other ♥️
You missed the most important thing... Face the pain!
I was in Japan for the last 4 years and the time zone was perfect for watching ufc. It was like brunch on Sunday into the afternoon and then Monday everyone is talking about what happened the day before. Now I’m on east coast and it’s soooo late!
Glad you’re back to doing more of these list videos Jason.
I just miss the old ufc theme that played before each fight introduction
Miss the PPV Gladiator Opening. It really got me hyped for the card.
With all the injuries that are prevalent in MMA i get why the ufc don't do tournaments anymore
I think putting on a tournament for a division whenever the belt is vacated is a cool idea
Top 2 things MMA on point should bring back:
#2 the intro
#1 Jasons vacation
To be fair to the ufc, I believe the in round judging is sort of (for main events at least) being hit a bit by Din Thomas between rounds. But the biggest flaw is the judging system itself not having ex fighters or experts in it, and not being consistent
I just think for a company as big as the ufc there’s so many more totally awesome things they could be doing instead of the same old same old
I was in that joe Stevenson clip lmao
Mma has such a rich history with tournaments. It pains me that the UFC has largely ignored this as of late
The "Im Outta Here" at the end had an almost "Doug from MTV's The State" vibe.
Remember the tale of the tape music and intro? Iconic ufc sound.
Great to hear Jason more regularly
UFC tonight was a gem, i loved the technique breakdowns a la Gracie Breakdown
I'd be more interested in ufc merch if it had a touch of the fighter's flare that I want to root for incorporated into it. Think something with Samurai themes and Jiri Prochazka
id be more interested in merch if the fighters actually got paid for them
Ariel used to ask the questions everyone wanted to hear, EXCEPT the UFC, so they made sure he doesn't ask them anymore....
I really agree with the customised shorts and the sponsors for fighters. That's a good way to make thier pay better.
The GP format would be awesome. Those were way before my time, would love to experience it
You really nailed this. No wonder my interest isn't glued like it used to be.
This is a really good video. Well said. I think this one really stands out.
It would be cool to see a crossover like how WWE does smack down vs raw. Then again, I really just wanted to see Cormier vs emelianenko but that’s never going to happen.
Take your fake pish elsewhere
Post fight press conference and tournaments would be awesome
The old music they used before fights with the church singing was way crazy wish they had that still
Loving all these no bayleon videos, keep it up lol
UFC 189 walkouts like in the main event, Sinead O’Connor and…Aaron Lewis 😳
They got to bring back the old intros. The cheesy knight thing with face the pain. So sick
Nah bro post fight press conferences are just evil. The guy who lost having to sit next to the guy who just beat them, not being able to say shit.
Fight pass exclusive is still a thing in Canada. Fight night Paris wasn’t available on regular tv in my area.
*Love* *Mma* on *point* just wish Tommy Toe Hold did more videos
I miss the old Tommy toe hold videos.
Damn good energy on the vid lad
I always forget how lucky I am to live in a city (Vancouver) which runs on pacific time. A PPV ending at 1:00am or instead of 10:00pm would suck and thats not even mentioning the fans in Europe.
I love point 3! Granted it has some faults but if a guy is getting told he's up by his corner when he's actually down helps promote at least action or a finish
Luke Taylor! Awesome that you included TMG, iDubbz, and Lonelyisland 😂
Bold man being up till 6am that shits cray
No.1 rule: Conor McGregor is always next in line for a title shot
Conor and his daddy Dana ruined Khabib's and Tony's career Khabib ofcourse for his dominace somehow got title shot even lately and became the LW champion and it's a shame that Tony never got a title shot💔 Conor deserves more shits for this
Diaz beat mcgregor twice, change my mind.
@thomas burns no way conor beats anyone at 165 when he's getting finished left and right at 155 lol...the only way conor becomes champ at 165 is if they bring back Eddie Alvarez for that fight lol
@@NickMachado your mum
this has nothing to do with the video but correct
I've switched over to kickboxing like Glory and the ONE FC Kickboxing bouts and haven't watched much UFC at all for awhile, but I used to love the Countdown to UFC (insert number) and the Extended Previews. Do they still do those? Those were some of my favorite things to watch or listen to.
The one on one fighter interviews would be a great bring back. Unbiased and unafraid interviewers would be awesome.
My Sunday morning ritual consists of a run and watching the post fight conference
I miss UFC on Fox. The pacing was better, and we had UFC Tonight.
