    👇ABOUT THIS VIDEO👇
#7: Taylormade Project (a): This is my second favorite golf ball from Taylormade for average golfers. It's made to spin less off the tee and spin more close to the green. They're made for an 8-18 handicap and they're pretty durable balls.
#6: Titleist DT Trusoft: This is my favorite Titleist golf ball for an average player and found it to be better on the green compared to the Taylormade. They didn't spin as much close to the green but they had a nice feel to them and weren't crazy expensive.
#5: Bridgestone e12: This is my favorite Bridgestone golf ball for average golfers who prefer spin and control over pure distance. They weren't the longest ball out there but they made it pretty easy to stay in the fairway.
#4: Wilson Fifty Elite: Wilson makes one of my favorite balls for average players because they aren't going to break the bank and they offer most of the features you'd need. They aren't super long but you'll definitely lose less of them.
#3: Taylormade Noodle: Believe it or not but the Noodle is actually still one of my favorite golf balls. Most weekend golfers can't compress the ball enough and for some reason continue to play ProV1's. These are designed for people who don't compress the ball enough to help with distance.
#2: Callaway Supersoft: These are my favorite Callaway golf balls and they were actually the longest on the list for me. The only reason I had them ranked #2 is that they weren't as consistent as my #1 was off the tee. Other than that, they were close to being perfect.
#1: Srixon Soft Feel: This is my favorite golf ball by far and is ranked in the top 2 of every single category. I like them because they're super straight off the tee and offer pretty decent control around the green. My fairways hit have improved a lot since switching to these balls.
Welcome to Out Of Bounds Golf. My name is Jon and I'm just an average golfer making videos on the internet. What you'll see here are videos on different golf products and we'll be trying to figure out what works the best for the average hacker.
We'll be doing product reviews, comparisons between two similar products, the best gear for different types of players, and maybe we'll just play a round of golf.
I've been playing golf on and off for a number of years now but have become a lot more consistent over the past couple of seasons. Not long ago I was shooting somewhere around 100 and playing "out of bounds" golf way too often.
I've consistently broken 90 now and am working on breaking the 80 mark. My best round to date was 84 on a par 72 and my best 9 holes were 4 over.

I've been playing the Srixon Soft for a couple years now and they are my #1 ball. Don't feel like I give up a thing with this ball and doesn't sting as bad as losing a $4 ball. Firm believer in this ball and very reasonably priced.

  • @davejohn255

I like the Callaway Supersofts quite a bit, but frankly. I think working on your short game , putting and working on a consistent swing are the only things that matter for average golfers. I played to a 12 handicap in league play in the 80's with any random ball, and clubs that cost $79 P thru 3 iron (I added a 1 iron) and included 3 wood and driver it even included the bag...and some random putter from the 50's. They had a sweet spot the size of a pea. LOL They finally started breaking and I bought the Mizunos I still use.
I do not think my bro I play with has ever bought a ball in his life and even at 70 still breaks 90 with Ping Eye 2's that must be 40 years old. We only golf weekdays early in morning ...any balls stick after they have watered the greens all night. Truth...
and one other thing that really matters we both get together in my garage every fall and put the cheapest grips we can find on amazon on our clubs...Probably not even needed , but its a bonding experience...lol

    • @tedzink4574
      @tedzink4574 4 ปีที่แล้ว

You're absolutely correct, any club and ball work for the average guys. Those Ping Eye2's are arguably one of the best clubs ever made. So your bro is the Wiley Veteran using old clubs with new grips, thinking and managing his way around the course, in the fairway, almost always has a putt for par, beats young bombers by 10 shots. I like him. I am him. Learn from him.

I use the Wilson staff 50 elite and I agree most people question why I use that ball and not some top shelf ball cause I’m a pretty decent golfer but I just never lose them and that’s key, plus I putt well and am able to spin nicely in the green, even when I chip, checks nicely

My friend Wes uses your #1 pick the Srixon and we are usually in the high 90's. So you seem like you have a good grasp of the golf balls and their functions. Your advice is very good! Thanks, and hit them straight.

This is a great video, and frankly since I purchased a ball retriever I've been able to test many different golf balls myself, and I've found that the Noodle, Callaway were both really good performers. I have a bag full of ProV1's that I didn't purchase, and I really prefer them on drives but irons I like the noodle or callaway or soft feels more... but putting I go back to preferring the ProV or Callaway.

Years ago, I happened to find a Noodle out in the rough (not sure what I was doing in the rough, but anyway...). I played that ball on the next hole just for fun, and actually finished my round with it. Noodle became the only ball I would normally play. At that time all the Noodles were marketed as Maxfli Noodle. I never even knew that Taylor Made had the trademark/patent on that name.

  • @BOOGiNS

There are only three categories for a golf ball. Compression, trajectory and spin. Everything else is just your imagination. Control is all about how well you strike the ball. All this talk about hitting straight and distance "control".... Distance control is based on your club selection. You need a golfer to actually tell you how this all works. A "straighter' ball is just one with an ionomer cover. A spin ball has a urethane cover. If you have a low swing speed you need low compression. If you cant hit it straight you need an ionomer coated ball.

I have to agree with you on your selections. So glad I watched the video as you confirmed what I thought about the top 4 choices. Biggest surprise to me was the Wilson Elite 50. I work at a golf store, so when I happened to find a pristine ball, I played it for several holes. I was shocked when I looked closer and saw it was a 50 Elite! A ball we sell for $13. dollars/doz. This ball flew great and stayed in play! That said, I have to give Srixon Soft Feel its due, A great ball and worth every dime. As I like to tell my customers: You don't have to spend $50 bucks to get a really good golf ball.

    • @MississippiWopGenius396

I share that opinion as well-the 50 elite is my new #1 ball. This ball is off the chain with distance, tremendous feel on the green and decent spin. The Srixion SF is freakishly long and soft- but I got no feel whatsoever and I just couldnt putt with it. On a side note, and if you watched the masters this week even the best players in the world cant get maximum distance in cool weather so prov's in 60 below weather is a waste of money for most players.

Ive used a lot of different balls and think i would have the laddie extreme as no.1 when considering price, performance and especially durability vs the srixon soft feel and callaway supersoft.. Also a big fan of the noodle

My swing speed is in that 105 range so I only use a premium ball such as a chrome soft or pro v when its above 85 to 90 and at 53 yrs old I dont play in the heat that much. That led me to using a softer ball in the Spring, fall and winter and once you go soft-you wont wanna go back . So here is my 2 cents worth. The Srixon SF has a 71 compression that feels like 40. The SF is really great tee to green even freakishly great. Downside is I couldnt make a putt with them, they felt really light on the green. With the SF, I couldnt judge putting distance and it felt like it moved around alot. Granted it was superfast greens so maybe on slow greens the Srixon SF would be ok. Tee to green the Srixon SF is super long and supersoft-maybe the longest soft ball Ive hit. So if you are putting on Shag carpet or if Tee to green is your main issue the SF is prob the best ball for you. However, for most people swinging 90-110 mph- the 50 Elite is gonna be the way to go, it just has better feel to it. If you like a premium ball such as the pro v's/chrome softs in the hot summer time, the fifty elite is just as good especially the weather cools off and not just for the money. The 50 elite (50 compression) is my best golf ball in 60-85 degree weather-great distance/feel and way better feel on the green than the srixon SF. The Callaway supersoft with a 38 compression is probably gonna be better than the elite below 50-55 degrees. The Callaway SS is long, feels quite softer than the elite and has a great feel to it and putts really well. In the past I normally liked the Wilson duo softs for colder weather say below 45. The Wilson 50 elite and the Supersoft both putt way better and prob go further. I'm not sure if the elite 50 is gonna be the best ball when it gets down below 50 degrees it doesnt feel quite as soft as the duos or Callaway supersoft. Its looking like the 50 compression elite will be my 60-85 degree ball, and the 38 compression Callaway supersoft will be my below 50 ball. If its 35-40 degrees the Wilson duo spin(35 compression) is great as well and if its colder than that-the wilson duo(non-spin) has a compression of 29. Very impressed with the 50 Elite both off the Tee and on the green-its by far the best ball and not just for the money and on a side note if I could putt with the Srixon SF it would be my #1 ball in colder weather-its freakishly soft and long tee to green. In my opinion whatever Srixon did to make a 71 compression ball feel like a 40 compression ball is the reason I cant judge putting distance with the SF-again if you putting on shag carpet it prob wont matter :)

Hands down, the Taylormade Project (a) balls are likely the best golf ball for the money that has ever been produced in history.
Taylormade should never have discontinued them in favour of the Tour Response, and instead should have just made the Project (a) a permanently produced ball line just like the Titleist ProV1 is.
For those who cannot afford TP5 or ProV1 balls, the Taylormade Project (a) is the next best option for spin, performance, and overall playing experience.
