yes another vlog! you have been so upbeat and positive since your move that these vlogs can turn a sour moment into the best part of my day :D (just finished a 15 page essay on the history of electrical engineering and this will get me unbored real fast XD )
nimedhel09 Thank you so much. Both have been laid to rest now so it's time to adjust to the big change. Just happy they went close together instead of one living without the other. Best way it could've happened I suppose. Thank you for your kind words.
The people seem so friendly and nice. I love it! I always smile when you talk to locals and they welcome you with open arms. Really love the energy they put off.
Farmers markets are the best place to socialize young dogs. Both my German shepherds spent a lot of time there for their first two years, great place for them to see people, be surrounded by all sorts of sounds and strange things happening. The Quesnel farmers market helped me create two super dogs :)
We have a farmer's market down by the waterfront and while I love the food, it's meeting vendors like the one you showed today is what makes it worth wild for me. There's just something about fresh air, sunshine and good company that just resets my outlook on life.
I used to agree that your early vlogging days (2010-2011) were my favorite, (Eating old gum, going through carwash in jeep) but oh god. THESE vlogs are even better! It's your golden vlogging time. Every single one you produce is golden. I'm loving this!
When I go to markets like this I like seeing the booths where they have knives and such. I also like seeing how crafty people can get with different things as well.
I know you'll never see this comment, but I have to tell you that you Alaska videos quite literally bring joy to my day. I have been watching them all (though not quite in order) and I have enjoyed every single one of them. Alaska has to be one of the most beautiful places in our country to be. If I could move from Ohio and live there I would in a heat beat. Please, please, please keep making these videos for I, and others like me, can enjoy the natural beauty our country has to offer, even if it is just though a video. Oh, and to answer your question, I love stopping and looking/listing to the native American stuff at the flea market. And poop berries.
We were there and there was a booth for the Alaska Moose Foundation. The representative had a husky puppy that was about 10 months old and weighed 125 lbs, and acted like a puppy wanting to greet every dog and person that came his way. I got the most awesome cap there and more than a year later it is my favorite. I loved the sounds of the Alaska Railroad in the background (the station is just down the hill). The Alaskan RR is another great tourist adventure and useful transport for residents.
I wish there were more markets like this near where I live. there is a Farmers market but it's pretty small compared to this. Plus there isn't much to get there except vegetables and hot dogs :(
It's great seeing how you were able to spread some happiness all around that market, Cory! Thanks for sharing the happiness with us, too! Hope you two had a great bike ride.
Poopberries. That potato on a stick is huge in Korea and Japan. It is at every festival. And is street food in Korea. The face she made when you talked about the after effects of eating ice cream, was hilarious. Whenever I get money, which is seldom. I go to our Goodwill, which is my flea market in my hometown. I go and look for hand made anything. Blown glass, hand painted pottery and plates, twig or grass baskets. I have a small but growing collection, that will all be on display when I get whichever house when I inherit. They tend to be worth something because they are hand made and not mass produced. I can tell which is which easily from watching Antiques Roadshow.
Ok, so you asked for your viewers to say something so I thought I'd let you know I enjoyed watching you go to the outdoor market and chuckle with the vendors, so Thank You for the entertainment this afternoon!
Oh my gosh my favorite "market/festival" to go to is called the Covered Bridge Festival in Indiana, in Parke County. We go every year. Amazing garage sales all over the country side, and two towns with festivals with amazing food and crafts. It's in October, so amazing fall colored leaves. And a chance to see all the amazing architecture of the old Covered Bridges, some you can still drive through!
I became mildly obsessed with Anchorage and all things AK after running across "Down and Out in Anchorage: Homeless in America's Coldest City" a couple of months ago. Thanks for sharing all of the wonder there is to see up there. Can't wait to see the winter vlogs!
Hello there :) I won't be writing poop berries, since it's already been taken care of... But I must say, that it's beautiful how people try to preserve and cultivate their cultural legacy in Alaska. Here in Poland young people most often know not much about our whole nation or even their home regions history, not mentioning celebrating and exploring its elements. Soon all will be forgotten. I'm not saying, that I do anything to prevent that - I think that our nation's thing... Anyway I admire Americans for their love to history and heritage. You will never lose your identity, that's for sure :)
my favorite thing about flea markets is the interesting blades. not just the cool looking ones but also the history behind each blade. theres always a good story to be told. ^.^
The market was sweet! I can't believe how detailed those antler carvings are! Insane! So excited for seeing what you share with us next ! Still showing all my friends and fam your VLOGS! We love you! Hope you had a sweet bike ride!
When I go to flea markets, I love to see old comics barracks. Here in Brasília, Brazil there are small street markets, some with raw food barracks, others with handwork, clothes and chinese electronics, but very few with used and antique objects.
I love finding little trinkets/knick-knacks and accessories - like handmade necklaces and rings and bracelets, or just stuff to hang on walls or to keep in my drawer/on my desk. I have a fondness for little stuff like that, a reminder of where you've been even if it's just a local flea market in town, cause there are some things that just never appear twice! I visited some flea markets in Bali for my graduation trip and found that dresses were also a big thing, and those became another nice thing to buy from flea markets because they're always light and just really pretty. :) Also, I laughed a huge lot in this particular vlog! Mind you, your vlogs always make me laugh and smile, but this one in particular made me literally laugh out loud. Especially with your 'hippopotamoose', and just you joking around with the vendors and making them laugh. If they aren't already, then Anchorage should certainly be glad to have you there, you're a delightful addition to its community! :D
BTW i learnt the other day that lactose intolerance and dairy allergies are completely normal! apparently our ancestors were lactose intolerant and the gene that caused this mutated into what we now know as normal dietary behaviour!
***** you are female, isn't that a given? ;) You didn't look like the ice cream was worth it, by the look you gave him when he said it was haha! My husband has a fructose intolerance (malabsorption). He has the same smelly issue. It drives me to sleep in another room some nights, sadly. As long as he can balance the sugars (fructose and glucose) he is ok. It is frustrating at times though, since many labels just say sugar, without being specific between the types. And sad for him, honey is a very bad type of sugar for him.
Yeah, lactose intolerance is extremely common since our adult ancestors generally would not consume milk so our genes more or less gotten rid of the ability to process lactose as we got older. That is until we started to domesticate animals and consume their milk but by then, most humans evolved out of being able to digest lactose. So I would say that the people who aren't lactose intolerant as being less evolved, J/K =P. In all seriousness though, I totally sympathize with not being able to eat ice cream by the buckets but my lactose intolerance isn't nearly as bad as some so there's at least a silver lining in there somewhere.
Being a former Boy Scout, and having participated in a few throwing knife contests, I love going to flea markets to get either exotic blades or good quality blades that can actually be used.
best thing at a flea market is the food and the art - I am really enjoying all your vlogs its wonderful! Brings a smile to my face each time! I am wondering how the kitties are doing. Is Sparta ok especially because I remember he does have feline leukemia. Thanks so much!
I'm saying "Hi". :) The problem with your vlogs are, that you just can't watch them while heading home in a full train at the rushhour. 'Cause everyone is staring at you when you laugh out loud accidentally. :D I love it. Just don't stop doing this kind of videos. Greetings from Switzerland.
Cory, I am honestly LOVING seeing all of your adventures in Alaska, no matter how big or small. Alaska reminds me of upstate NY but much MUCH more interesting :P It's making me want to visit so bad! Keep up the awesome vlogging!
I'm a Texan and that didn't piss me off. It was hilarious. :D That raspberry bread looked amazing. I liked seeing the flutes and carvings too. The carvings inspire me in my clay work. See if you can find Lactaid milk. I don't know if that is what did it but I used that a while - maybe about a year - and now I don't have issues with milk or ice cream (dairy) anymore. I don't like fried things much either. I saw an infomercial on TV ages ago showing a thing that would let you make those twisted potatoes at home. - Heidi P.S. Poop berries. :p I like anything hand made when I go to those... or retro video game stuff.
some things are universal, state fairs being one of them, with a few variations depending upon location. i loved seeing all the fish! local animal life themed items too.
I love that in a flee market I can get fresh peas, potatoes and strawberries. I don't have much money over all so I don't look anything else. But that season is way too short in Finland and then we have to miss all of that like 9 months. Nowadays I don't like strawberries that much - but darn still.. Wait it is way too long to not buy them. Season is now over and it makes me a bit sad that I didn't get enough fresh potatoes.
Great vlog...all the vendors really seemed sweet. I loved the Embloom Design vendor, he was the best! 😊 I'm glad that you two are having so much fun in Alaska. 👏
We used to have markets like that years ago, but then our town became an out of town retail park and has all but killed small businesses and markets. I miss that personal touch markets give you.
My favorite thing in flea markets (or the one I go to) is jewelry and this vendor who sells honey that he also makes into soap, bug repellent, and a light sunscreen. Also... poopberries.
Well, Texas is only number two in size....but, we are a 10 times the size in pride! That is a really awesome festival/market! My favorite thing at a flea market is the strangest thing I find!
Those flutes were ocarinas actually- very fun... and yes, they're the legend of Zelda ocarinas- just a different breed! X3.... Fav things at flea markets? Those giant jackets that are never in my size and are always large. The ones out of wool with the designs on them.
Our local summer market used to have a booth that had Peruvian food, but they haven't been in a year or two, so we stopped going. Some flea markets here have a ton of antiques, which is always cool, but some are just "fell off the back of the truck" stuff for sale, junk and clothes.
I am lactose intolerant too! Just keep your dairy intake low, ice cream is delicious, just try not to go crazy on it. Also you're so lucky to get fresh salmon out there. OMG I love salmon. Thanks for the vlogs, they are very entertaining. I keep an eye out for them every day. Good Bye!
Haven't been to the flea market in a while. We would always stop to see the pickle man, the Amish stand, and of course I always check out the purse stands. The one you went to looked like it was fun.
What's called a farmer's market here is more like a flea market - very little produce but some other interesting stuff like local made jewelry and soap and my favorite thing to shop for: candles.
I hate fish but you have to have that beer-battered halibut you saw. It was a tradition in my family to get it every time wen went to the weekend market.
I love that shirt: CLAUSTROPHOBIA "Alaskan's morbid fear of being stuck in Texas." And I've lived in Texas my whole life! That guy was awesome too.
I wish all venders were this fun. That guy was awesome!
yes another vlog! you have been so upbeat and positive since your move that these vlogs can turn a sour moment into the best part of my day :D (just finished a 15 page essay on the history of electrical engineering and this will get me unbored real fast XD )
Well, I'm glad these make your days better. Thanks!
I really enjoyed the video. Dealing with the loss of my grandparents and having a rough day today. This gave me a chuckle and I really needed it!
***** Aw thank you!
So sorry for your loss :( I know how it's like to lose family members, so hang in there!
nimedhel09 Thank you so much. Both have been laid to rest now so it's time to adjust to the big change. Just happy they went close together instead of one living without the other. Best way it could've happened I suppose. Thank you for your kind words.
You are very welcome.
I know how it feels sorry for your loss
The people seem so friendly and nice. I love it! I always smile when you talk to locals and they welcome you with open arms. Really love the energy they put off.
"Poop Berries" Well you told me to say it........
Woohoo! Poop berries!
As a Texan I wasn't mad about the shirts, in fact I found them funny.
Was nice and funny to get to know this ALASKAN fair not any complain about Texan t shirts !!!!!
haha loving the T-shirt stand that made me chuckle he seems an absolute legend!
I hope I'm like that when I'm older.

We have the same....Mmmm jared garlic dill pickles...
It's great seeing how you were able to spread some happiness all around that market, Cory! Thanks for sharing the happiness with us, too! Hope you two had a great bike ride.
Texas to me will still always be the best state, even if it is smaller than Alaska! :3
lol I like Texas too. :)

I don't think I've ever seen vendors so friendly in my life!
Alaske is so Norway, I can`t get over it! The Moose is Norways king animal. We just call him the king of the woods.

The humor was spot on today

Cheep Jewellery made locally, the ones where they stick a semi-precious stone on a string, that stuff. So pretty.
Being a former Boy Scout, and having participated in a few throwing knife contests, I love going to flea markets to get either exotic blades or good quality blades that can actually be used.
Can't wait to see you fishing! I hope one day I can move to Alaska!
My favorite thing in a flea market is to people watch. If you just sit around and watch, you will find some interesting people.
Nothing beats fresh kettle corn at the farmer's market!
My favorite things from flea markets are desk clutter. I love collecting decorative desk objects, but I only get the best things I find.

See if you can find Lactaid milk. I don't know if that is what did it but I used that a while - maybe about a year - and now I don't have issues with milk or ice cream (dairy) anymore.

- Heidi
P.S. Poop berries. :p I like anything hand made when I go to those... or retro video game stuff.
My favorite things at markets are the agricultural goods. Whether it be food or goat soap, I love that stuff :)

Cory, your vlogs really make my day, especially the last few, gives me a nice cheering up:)
We used to have markets like that years ago, but then our town became an out of town retail park and has all but killed small businesses and markets. I miss that personal touch markets give you.
my favorite thing at the flea market is all the handmade unique stuff you can find :)
Cory, did you try the lemon earthquake shakeup stand? If so, thats my families business :)

Our local summer market used to have a booth that had Peruvian food, but they haven't been in a year or two, so we stopped going.
Some flea markets here have a ton of antiques, which is always cool, but some are just "fell off the back of the truck" stuff for sale, junk and clothes.

The food is always good.
