I just started going through your videos yesterday. I'm 22, male, masculine and from Anchorage. But I am very familiar with the quilt show and multiple members of my family volunteer every year and also bring entries. I have even made a quilt for the state fair and won 1st place in my division. I have actually met some of the ladies you talked to there.
This vlog was so entertaining. Ever since you've moved to Alaska it seems like you've been having a blast, finding new things to do and having fun with the people there.
Johnny and I get a huge kick outta watching you and Kristen.. It's our dream to live in Alaska, and watching it through your eyes and having a giggle at all the same things we'd roll our eyes at too, lol ~ Thanks for taking the camera with you on your outings and letting us see it all through you.. ~ I'm too ill to travel anymore and I know we'll never make it that far, but I can see it all through your videos... so just ''thanks''
There's a quilt museum close to where I work. (Yes, a museum of nothing but quilts. You can get your quilt fix five days a week.) One of their current exhibits is quilts all made by men, including some quilts made by Civil War soldiers. So see? Quilts CAN be manly! I've never used the word quilt so much in a single comment. Quilt quilt quilt quilt quilt...
DudeLikeHELLA You deleted your FB post so I couldn't say this.. I will say it here and hope you see it. Honestly I look forward to your vlogs. My life is hectic lately and at the end of the night your energetic self with Kristen make my night. I have NOT seen anything offensive in any of your videos!! I just see two people who are happily vlogging about their Alaskan adventure. Your bubbly self is what brings a smile to many faces. You just sadly remember you can't please everyone, there will always be someone who will try to bring you down. Focus on the good ones rather than the bad. I have always commented and thanked you for bringing light to the end of my day!!
I'm really enjoying these vlogs. Learning so much about Alaska and seeing your happiness makes me more hopeful that maybe I will be so blessed one day.
She drives stick, loves the kitties, has cutegasms, and watches college football? I love Kristen more and more each vlog!!! Btw, this was a very 'mom' vlog. Quilting and antique shops. Oh boy, sounds like a day shopping with my mom.
@joseph I drive stick too, and also have carpal tunnel. Yes, it makes my wrist hurt more somedays, but I feel like I'm more focused on driving than when I drive an automatic because I have to focus on the road and how my car is doing rpm wise. I've had both, and yes, it's much easier to drive an automatic, and for a lot of people, it's a wonderful option. Others just like having the option to do things hard or old fashioned way. Heck, some people still wash their clothes by hand and hang them out to dry because they say it makes their clothes feel better. Either way, I just think it's cool when I see other girls drive stick- most I know are scared to even try. I hope your wrist gets some relief!
You just made me want a beer after all my hard work watching TH-cam Quilt Videos and Facebook Quilt page posts all morning. Thanks for the great idea... heading to the fridge now. (Oh, by the way, thanks for sharing some pics of those GORGEOUS quilts at the Anchorage Quilt show. Truly stunning work!). ~Diana from Toronto
Quilt shows are so much fun. I went to my first one last weekend and we (quilter friend and I) spent more time looking at quilts entered for the contest than looking at merchandise. There were 300 quilts to look at...and the show was only open for six hours. I think they are crazy! That's way to much to take in, in just six hours!! It should be twelve!! LOL!!!
Quilting's so popular up there because they spend so much of the year cuddling under blankets. May as well have great artwork blankets! :-) Don't feel bad about expressing your views about stuff. You always say you're not trying to judge or stereotype people, so most of us understand you wouldn't offend people on purpose. I think seeing the manly quilting store was good for you. :-) Have a great week, Cory!
Your vlogs are making me want to move up there. :) I'm so glad things are going so well for you. As far as your comments about crafting (quilting, knitting, etc.), they just made me LOL because I'm actually sitting here watching this video while I'm knitting. :)
Thank you so much for going to the Quilt Show! I'm so glad you did. Quilts as art or just to throw on the bed are so fascinating. Even if cats and walkers are part of the ambiance. I just loved "not amused' lady.
Those quilts were seriously impressive. There was a lot of artistry packed into that show! Thanks for sharing it with us, Cory. You asked us if you should be sorry about making fun of quilt makers, and I wouldn't say you should be sorry -- I would just say that it shows you might have stereotypes about people who make quilts and what quilts look like. But it seems like some of those stereotypes may have gotten busted wide open during the making of this video, so that's great. Thanks again for vlogging!
Now that you've experienced a quilt show, you know it's not all lame! Now, it's time to learn to knit! Some of the most impressive patterns are done in Ireland by fishermen in the off season when they're stuck indoors all winter. Now, keeping the cats out of the yarn would be another matter!
Enjoy the view of this majestic aurora while listening to the soothing sounds of wild Alaska... Featuring the Angry Homeless Man Screaming in a Bush. But on a serious note, I died laughing when you said that. xD I'm like ohhh!! An aurora!! And then... Homeless man. xDD Omg. You're the best Cory.
I seriously LOLd so damn hard at the 'hairy Kraken' part, and even more so by the (very much so) unimpressed woman... Keep up the awesomeness! =D (PS: I have to replay that part now)
You need to reset the Sparta unit. Cory, don't you remember that his gravity failed before? Don't wait until he's permanently stuck to the floor. He fall down go boom.😄🐱
Alaska needs quilts. You''l get it in about a month when the snow really starts. Art quilts are a very demanding craft. The hours put into each one is amazing, much less the craftsmanship. I am glad they let you watch the game at the bar. There must have been others on as well.
Our Coburg (OR) Quilt Show Raffle Quilt in 2014 was called "Where's Waldo" . . . it had about 430 4-inch pinwheels (all made in BRIGHT colors - on a black background. I printed up some Where's Waldo fabric and added a pinwheel made from that fabric and everyone thoroughly enjoyed trying to find Waldo!
I love watching your videos. You guys just have so much fun doing ordinary stuff like shopping and exploring your neighbourhood. I guess anything can be an adventure if you want it to be! :-)
Oh my word, Cory, if you were referring to my comment about laughing at your quilt comment and then realizing that I was knitting while I watched... I was not offended in the slightest. I am in my twenties and I've been knitting and crocheting since I was 15. I will probably by a knitting granny someday. And I will OWN it. :D
+LiveEachDay This vlog had me from the food-coma kitty at the very beginning. "Don't touch ma belly. I'm too full for your shenanigans." Too cute! And then quilts!? I mean come, on! What more do you need? I'm watching your whole Alaska adventure from the beginning, while keeping up with your current vlogs, and I can't get enough! Keep it up
I love the vlogs and can't wait to see what is coming next! I don't think you should slow down. You just can't please everyone, but you can please your fans.
I didn't know Kristen that is such a goofball. Now I like her even more. Hehe :-) Poor homeless man... my guesses: Either someone stole his favorite quilt, or he's angry at the clouds for blocking the aurora.
Cory. You were doing just fine before you stated reading all the negative comments. I just wanted you to know that my wife and I think you done a wonderful move by moving to Alaska. Drown yourself in Alaska’s beauty and culture. AND DON’T STOP BLOGGING. My wife and I hope to you join someday in Alaska.” God willing". And my wife is also a big fan of yours. She said for you to stop reading so much negative comments. We know its hard to ignore all the negative comments. Your doing just fine as it is. My wife and I are looking forward to your next blog. And I hope you keep them coming, wishing you the best. Sincerely Mr. & Miss Madrigal
DudeLikeHELLA As I recal.. This one isn't you hobby. It's your WORK. ;3 In away. But you do have many interesting hobbies at the side and even if others don't undestand.. I love them. ^___^ People look at me weird cause I'm adult and use basic kicking scooter to go around.. But it's useful! I guess world is full of certain things what are always weird and shouldn't be done if you're certain age/gender/ etc. But why the heck they make those thing to be so much fun? Heh. Sorry.. It's late (early) so I ramble random stuff. X_x
Back to your "hunting natives" episode, some really awesome native art will be found at the native craft fair which happens at the dimond center every year during the fur rondy.
Hey Cory! I know of a great place to check out with Kristen. It's the Alaskan Wildlife Conservation. It's a wildlife preserve where you can get close to the Alaskan animals including moose, bison, and bears! It's nearby Girdwood and it's always a fun place to check out! :)
New to your vlog and I've been watching for the last two days and laughing my backside off. You remind me of my oldest, especially your animal dance... smh..lol I'm impressed with your tires too, I had a set on my Buick and when I went to replace them the tires were 195 each..ouch. Glad you got them cheap.
All I could think of during the quilting show was that episode of Courage the cowardly dog with the evil quilts that sucked your soul inside. I wonder if I can find it on TH-cam. Maybe Netflix if not. - Heidi
I am soooo trying to catch up with my son on these video's! I subscribed 1st, got lazy, & he's so ahead of me!! Hope to catch up by the end of the week and we can watch the rest together for the Christmas break. Did see the announcement, though....CONGRAT S!! That's what got him to subscribe! lol!
Do not know how I stumbled on you but THANK YOU AGAIN FOR REMINDING ME WHY I LEFT ALASKA to all of you who love it so! Adorable video .... oh damnit you're gonna make me follow you aren't you....
Aww this makes me miss being at the game in the student section with everyone! Yes we kicked ass! (GO POKES!!!) Still loving these Alaska vlogs keep up the great work
Cory, I don't know how much you read these comments, but I've been noticing something unique about Kristen compared to previous girls you've hung out with. It's the way she looks at you, and you sound about her. Not talk, but 'sound'. The sparkle in your eyes. You found it dude. Like hella.
I almost spit out my drink at the "not amused" lady LOL
Did Cory just drunkenly a-salt Kristen in a bar? ^_^
She was being a-salted!
You can go have a beer, fish for your supper behind the bar, go home and cook it. Then snuggle up under a beautiful rock quilt. Alaska is amazing. :D
I just started going through your videos yesterday. I'm 22, male, masculine and from Anchorage. Quilts: So metal.

Yeah play Metallica's SANDMAN next time Dude, that was my wedding waltz
This vlog was so entertaining.
Ever since you've moved to Alaska it seems like you've been having a blast, finding new things to do and having fun with the people there.
I normally dont watch vlogging channels but Alaska is beautiful and you make it enjoyable to watch.
Hahahaha, yep! I lost it at "Hairy Kraken"!
Didn't expect to see you here.
Fancy seeing you here, Josh!
Man, I love quilts. They are SO warm. And although I dont make them, I know it takes HOURS of hard work and talent to make one.
I love quilts too! I just like messing with people. ;)
Okay, I quilt and I find this hilarious!!! Fun to see what guys think of a quilt show.

Awesome take on a quilt show Dude!!!!
I'm really enjoying these vlogs. Learning so much about Alaska and seeing your happiness makes me more hopeful that maybe I will be so blessed one day.
Love seeing men appreciate the art!
She drives stick, loves the kitties, has cutegasms, and watches college football? I love Kristen more and more each vlog!!!

I had to laugh about the Very Unamused Woman. Priceless LOL
Angry Homeless Dude needs to visit the quilt show
I was already having fun and all and then:
"NOT AMUSED"
Daym, that cracked me up so badly! :D
Quilt shows are so much fun. I went to my first one last weekend and we (quilter friend and I) spent more time looking at quilts entered for the contest than looking at merchandise. Great video! Geocaching is awesome. You're living my dream, so please keep posting!
I love your sense of humor. Touching is a no no at quilt show.

yes... because knitting is AWESOME!!!
I didn't know about geocaching until this video! I went and found my first geocache today!!!!!

I am sooo happy you replied to my comment Cory! I am like a big fan! I have been watching your videos since he mean kitty song.
The quilts were gorgeous. I can't even sew a button on. I lol when you showed the picture of the woman that was not amused.
I seriously LOLd so damn hard at the 'hairy Kraken' part, and even more so by the (very much so) unimpressed woman...
Keep up the awesomeness!
=D
(PS: I have to replay that part now)
"Angry homeless man screaming in a bush out there." -Cory Mr. Safety, 2014
Hey I want more angry and drunk homeless man antics.
There are plenty of those guys around here but I probably won't show them. It makes me kinda sad sometimes.
You two are AWESOME! You really are hilarious!
You kept your word and made a quilt show fun!!! :D
You need to reset the Sparta unit. Cory, don't you remember that his gravity failed before? Don't wait until he's permanently stuck to the floor. He fall down go boom.😄🐱
God!!! The keys and salt!!! Laughed so hard!!
Quilting/Knitting/Crocheting/Sewing aren't hobbies, Cory. They are Post Apocalyptic skills. When the robot invasion comes we will be prepared!
Alaska needs quilts. You''l get it in about a month when the snow really starts. Art quilts are a very demanding craft. The hours put into each one is amazing, much less the craftsmanship. I am glad they let you watch the game at the bar. There must have been others on as well.
Cory, you make me laugh every day. I hope to meet you one day! Please don't stop the vlogging.
"not amused lady" was the best part
i take it back. the part where you edit out the guy clubbing the fish in the head is the best part tehehehe

NOT AMUSED cracked me up! XD
I didn't know Kristen that is such a goofball. Now I like her even more. Hehe :-)
Poor homeless man... my guesses: Either someone stole his favorite quilt, or he's angry at the clouds for blocking the aurora.
He was REALLY wasted. I watched him drink a bottle of urine in an Aquafina bottle. No joke!

My grandmother made the best quits, so warm!
Men quit or freeze to death.
See you still haven't solved the gravity fail on your cats, I recommend turning them off then turning them back on as this worked with mine so far.
I nearly choked on some pizza at hairy kracken lady. Make it into a T-shirt!
Loving these vlogs, Cory. I never had a desire before to go to Alaska, but now I kinda wanna check it out.
Love the vlogs Cory you havent lost touch at all if anything your finding yourself MORE your awesome a funny and always look forward to your videos
All I could think of during the quilting show was that episode of Courage the cowardly dog with the evil quilts that sucked your soul inside. I wonder if I can find it on TH-cam. Maybe Netflix if not.

That was a really nice one!

Woah, I thought "quilts"were the same things as "kilts" and imagined seeing you wearing those crazy scottish skirts in the middle of Alaska ...
Laughed my ass off in the beginning. :)
OSU!!!!! Yeah Baby!!!!!! Where's your Eskimo Joe's shirt?!?!?!👚👚👚👚
Cory, I don't know how much you read these comments, but I've been noticing something unique about Kristen compared to previous girls you've hung out with. It's the way she looks at you, and you sound about her. Not talk, but 'sound'. The sparkle in your eyes. You found it dude. Like hella.
I love that you just keep recording no matter the looks that you get from people. FYI: the geocaching is pronounced geocashing :)
