- There was a HUGE sale going on at the Petco in Wasilla, Alaska for their grand opening and I had a coupon for 20% off my entire purchase! So I couldn't help but go a little crazy. The timing was perfect! We needed food, litter, new beds, cat trees and a precision feeder for Penny anyway.

WHAT THE HELL, PEOPLE? What was wrong with the new intro? I get it was a little long, but it was really nice, and I personally liked the song. Cory, if 40% didn't like it, that means that up to 60% DID like it. Majority should rule. Use it if YOU like it.
60% is hardly a passing percentage in grade school. So I kind of took it that way. It just means that I can do a lot better.
DudeLikeHELLA We love it. It goes with the whole situation. It will grow on the rest of the 40% after a while. You don't need to change it if you like it!
DudeLikeHELLA This isn't grade school though, Cory. 30% of that 40% are probably in grade school themselves. I'd say 8-10% of that 40 had legitimate reasons for not liking and the others are lazy viewers who want instant gratification for nothing.
Cory, I've watched you grow and mature since moving to Alaska. It's been pretty nice. You're moving along nicely and your vlogs have been better than they have been in awhile. The question is, is what type of audience and mentality do want to pander to?

I think he did good. The new intro is there for his channel for unsubscribed visitors. It's perfect. It's too long to be in every video, and as people do marathon runs they'd get real sick of it after the 100th video.

I still say, use the new intro, as an outro song!! I LOVED the song, but it was a bit long as an intro. I like short intros! Use it as an Outro!!! That way it can still be in every single video!!

I loved the new opening. People are just not good with change, do what makes you feel happy.
You are correct the old into is a part of your old life.. You need a new one for your new adventure In Alaska with Kristin. It's your life.. if others don't like it to bad.. if they unsub then they are sad individuals and need a cool adventure of their own to make an intro for. You are happier then you have even been and the new intro shows that.
On this matter Corey should just do what he wants. If scrapping the new intro made him that sad, he just needs to say "Fuck it" and keep the new intro,
I think, the new intro was just a little bit too long. I love the short "Dude like Hella". It's short and has a nice tone. Just shorten the new intro and we're fine again. I just don't like watching 30 seconds of Intro every time
I love the new intro, it's amazing! I really hope people let go of the past. People are constantly changing and we should embrace it. People would complain anyway if he did what he used to do.

Mr Williams, I've watched your vlogs since "the skipping stone on the ice pond" showed up, which caused me to spend a whole day watching your trip and now your Life in Alaska vlogs. What I'm most impressed and appreciative of is that you're doing this on your own terms. You put yourself out there for the world to see knowing full well there will be critics, both in your present and past life. However, you are truly full of joy and happiness and as a spectator to these great moments, I thank you.
I have to say this New intro or Welcome you've put together is pretty awesome and a reflection of your growth and direction of your heart, therefore as much as I can appreciate you wanting to please your family of fans, if you're not true to yourself then you do a disservice not only to us, your "family" but most importantly - Cory.
You have gained a lot since your move to Alaska, more than any of us can truly appreciate. You have great instincts. You got it right when you decided you needed to make a change, and this new intro is very right because it's a reflection of YOU.
P.S. Rip that "rearview mirror" of life that some people keep trying to make you look at and keep moving my friend, not that you don't already know ;)

I didnt say he was wrong :^) Ill give you an example. If you have a company and you're selling one item, you want your customers to be pleased with your product. The more people that like your product = the better end result. So if we put it in this sense Cory is just trying to please his audience and making sure he can do the best he can do :^)
I'm pretty sure Cory has basic math skills and is aware that 40% isn't a majority.
I live in MN, and we are about to get a foot of snow where i live. There isn't any difference between the coldness of Alaska and Minnesota, you might at times drops lower then we do, and you don't get much more if even that in Alaska unless you are really far north there.
As a fellow video editor (now semi-retired) I understand that you could sift through hours of video in creating the new intro. Sadly, in that process you had to leave a lot of great material on the digital cutting room floor. But hey, that's what we as editors do: Cut, Slash and Burn! That process is much tougher when it's your own footage and your own vision. I do agree that 10 seconds is about the max for an intro. Basically you just grab the viewer's attention and establish your brand (name). Be concise! Also, now that you've received some feedback don't think of the 40% as "hating" the new intro. Just play around with it a little more. Keep up the great work, Cory (& Kristen)!!
... do what you love, Cory. If you love the new intro, use it. You're doing these videos because of your passion for it in the first place, right? That's what's made your videos awesome. You start trying to please everyone, you're ultimately gonna end up pleasing no one, especially not yourself.
Love the new kitty trees! Loki first up in both of them, at least on camera! I can't wait till you show us pictures of them laying on the top, looking all satisfied with themselves and the world. I'm glad Penny finally got in her new dog bed! She is such a sweetheart!

it does not matter who likes or dislikes your intro, because its your intro corey!!!! it is to make you happy, these videos are yours and no one elses. do what you think is best. love ya! and will always be a fan and watch your work!!! :)
You are right about Anchorage being warmer due to the bay it sits next to. That is due to the ocean currents coming up from Japan being warm and why California beaches have colder water.
As for your new intro, I am one of the 60% who does like it and glad it is being used at least for a channel intro.
No worries about the new intro. It's cool and fun. People are just resistant to change. They'll come around.

I have no editing skill, but from the intro you already made, keep the last 10 or 12 sec, "DUDELIKEHELLA!" and the fart and it would be perfect!
I agree with Daniel, here. I wouldn't know the first thing about editing, but shorten the 'new' intro, mash it into the "DudeLikeHella!", and I personally love the "Whoa, I gotta do that again!" clip. But that's just my two cents. I love whatever you do, Dude!
Dude I loved the new intro. It's your vlog, your rules. That new intro reflects your new life, your new start, new home and we love you no matter what. Nice to see the kitties and Penny doing good. I hope you get time to get to see more scenery.

Cory, I thought the new intro was very nicely done and perfectly suited to your current stage in life. 40% may not have liked it, but 60% did, and it's not going to keep us from tuning in, so it gets my vote if you decide to stick with it. You can't please everyone and you seem to be having the time of your life...run with it, buddy!!!

I liked the new intro, but its nice to see you are listening to some of your fans and showing you care what they think, even if its only 40% that didn't like it.
Its stuff like that and reading all the mail, and replying to comments that makes this channel one of the best, keep up the great work!!
Cory - your new intro is amazing. Whats most important is that YOU like it!! I think it captures what the channel is about perfectly. You've been through a lot, and now you are so incredibly happy with life and it shows in the new intro. I think you should leave it!
Here in Whitehorse we are having an incredibly warm fall and early winter. Looks like Alaska is too. I am hoping this winter will be mild, the locals say that if the summer was wet then the winter will be mild, warm, sunny summer then a severe winter. We had an incredibly wet summer, so hopefully an easy winter. Would be nice for you guys if your first winter is easy :)
As long as YOU like the intro, that's all that should matter. Personally, I loved it.

I loved the original intro and it always got me pumped up for the vlogs but Shaun killed it, his sounded lighter, friendlier and that's what Cory is, just a tall hairy man of positivity haha. Either way, i'm glad Shaun's got used because it actually does suit the intro to your channel.

So happy to see the fur-babies getting spoiled! If the cats don't steal the big bed from Penny, maybe they'll all end up snuggling in it together! (One can hope.) Cory NOOO I LOVE the new intro and people who are that upset about a 30 second intro or whatever are just too afraid of small changes. Oh and that intro was NOT any longer than Kates old song or Ctfxc's old "now it's time to sit down and view.." intro and nobody EVER complained about those.
Keep living the dream, dude. Don't worry about preoccupying your days with editing cos a few people don't like change. Go outside and live the adventure! Me and my husband loved the new intro and 30 seconds is hardly the longest intro on youtube. Id keep it for awhile. people can always skip ahead if they dont have 30 seconds.

I loved the new intro! Though can understand why people would say it was to long. I also am a California transplant, grew up in Orinda (Bay Area). I love Alaska and have lived here more than half my life now. Your Vlogs have reminded me how awesome my home is! I am sure I am not the only person that feels that way. So, keep up the great work!

Cory, I thought this would happen when I was reading some of the comments on the last vlog. You are such a sweetie. I know you care about us out here but it IS your life. You must have the intro you really want. As others have said, many people aren't good with change. Maybe people should try to see it from your point of view. Your life has changed - if their's had they might want a new intro too! While I appreciate you caring, please try not to worry quite so much about what others think (I know that's easy to say). Yeah! The new intro was good.. maybe people thought that it was too long or that it wasn't at the very beginning of the video, idk... the actual video is the most important part so I'm not complaining. Good to see you being happy in Alaska :D
Cory, in regards to the intro thing, you could always alternate them. Like, since it's about 30 seconds, you could use it on videos that are 15+ minutes. And use the old intro for videos under 10 minutes.
40% seems to be an exaggeration buddy, don't be too down on yourself! It was a good intro and I think more than 60% would agree. The only criticism I have of it, and one you've acknowledged, is that it's a tad bit too long. What I like about the current intro, other than that it sounds good, is that it's short and sweet.
I love Game Of Thrones. I love the intro of Game Of Thrones because I like the theme music and I like the map of Westeros. It's a solid intro. HOWEVER... after the first two or three times of seeing it I skipped it every time. With an intro like your current one, I don't have to skip it because it's currently at the intro sweet spot of less than 10 seconds. Your new intro you made ISN'T bad, just suffers from long intro syndrome.

ten seconds is a perfect happy medium between a 30 second intro and the current 2 second one. so there's def room to have something new and improved, and i'm not particularly attached to either, i just want you to have something you're happy with. i really hope this contest yields something awesome for you.

I loved the new intro that was created even if it was 30 seconds long. I was too excited and enjoying it too much to even notice. But having it a welcome intro to your channel works too. I live in southern states and this week it is supposed to get really cold. It is going to be fun for me. I love the cold weather. Don't focus too much on what's the best intro/outro or whatever.. Don't get caught up in all those technical details.. the most important thing is the content of the vlogs and your enthusiasm to share your wacky adventures.. that's the reason your rock skipping video got viral.. it's all about you sharing authentic moments of discovery and having fun that inspires people.
A big part of the appeal to this one is that it reminds me of the "old" you, it's a nice reminder of Mr. Safety, keep it!

Hey Cory, I totally get what you mean saying that the old intro describes something you don't feel like yours anymore. It happens to me too when I change something about my blog...and I understand that you are concerned about being coherent and having a new intro that you like and that sounds good to us too. But I think you shouldn't worry too much about it, we are here to share this amazing time of your life with you (and Kristen, and the pets of course), no matter what a 10 seconds jingle sounds like ;) keep smiling dude!
