- What is the Best Beach in Turkey?
Patara beach is supposedly one of the best beaches in Turkey!
We head there today and give you our first impressions of Kalkan, Turkey too!
Today we spent:
Bus to Patara from Kalkan: 50 TL (25 p.P.)
Patara Entrance: 180 TL (90 p.P.)
Tea and Coffee at Patara: 35 TL
Bus to Kalkan: 50 TL (25 p.P.)
Food, Drinks and Çay at the Restaurant: 280 TL
Total: 595 TL or 32 Euro

Türkiye is BEAUTIFUL in every way. This place gets better and better everywhere we go….
You two sure know how to travel, both are very open minded, and not looking for piece of Germany or Ireland in any place you visit, which is something most travelers do, compare anything they experience to their home countries, and not allow themselves to enjoy new things. I never heard neither one of you say "why are things like this?" or " why do people do that?" you are out to enjoy the places you're visiting, and that's the way to travel. On a funny note, Luke, does Naomi occasionally call you "bad boy"? cheers to both :)

The price reflects the fact western people are their that have money thats why prices are higher and that reason only!!! Go to tourist areas in Fethiye area its same higher prices, olu deniz, hisaronu and calis all over priced

Vastly overpriced. The meal is just the beginning of the grooming process, a free boat trip the next then you become 'special friend'. Don't part with one lira for operation for supposed 'sick relative and don't give your mobile number. I've had property in Kalkan for twenty years I was one of the targeted.

I would assume that the weather is nice throughout the year. I can get a sandy beach like that on one of the Great Lakes but not necessarily a sunny day to enjoy it. ( you will get temporary periods of sun for about a 3 to 4 hour stretch) Of course from mid-September through about May 20th its too cold to go to these beaches. In those months many people at my location want to fly away to someplace at least warm and of course sunny. ( hot is nice if not too hot). Then again those who absolutely have to go visit Florida and are on a tight budget will go in July over the July 4 th plant shut down period. Usually, this crowd will drive to Florida because flying is too expensive. Amazingly, a fair amount of people do this. The smarter ones in my opinion just head to Newport News, Virgina ( also know as Virgina Beach) or the Jersey Shores ( Atlantic City Area) in July. Not hot and no massive swarms of oversized hungry mosquitoes. ( known in Florida as the Confederate Air Force) but the beaches are great at both locations.
Been to Kalkan 7 times since October 2021 and I fell in love with it instantly 😍 went to patara beach in November 2021 and it was still lovely and warm ❤

For food, I'd recommend you to have seafood and mezzes accompanied by rakı especially for dinner while you're in coastal towns. Enjoy your stay!

Patara beach is beautiful but dangerous. Currents are no joke. Inexperienced people do not realize this since the water is generally shallow.

Patara and Iztuzu beaches are under protection as they are breeding grounds for Caretta Caretta turtles. That's why there is no construction on the beaches. Even the water flowing from the showers there is actually sea water, in order to protect the beach, no other water is even allowed. If you have plans to go to iztuzu beach, I can say that it is almost the same as Patara, only, you can go to iztuzu by crossing the streams that offer wonderful views.^^ I hope you take a boat tour in Kaş because I really don't want you to go without seeing the Sunken City and Simena Island.The views are simply breathtaking.:)
