  • RIGGING TAKES FOREVER! In 'Watermelon Girl', with 8 characters, I simplified all my characters to use super simple rigs.
Do you hate rigging? My friend @pierrick_picaut has some amazing courses to help out.

"Try and design for your time"
Timing of your vid was helpful.
Currently rigging and creating assets so when I come home after work, I could still animate in such small time. My time for personal project has shrunk because of the responsibility of being an adult... Your shortfilm, tututorial and examples and other vids are a Godsend and gave me hope of my passion for making content. Thank you for sharing your wisdom!

This is one of the most important things as a creative person. Trouble is, you uave tinlesrn it through failure.

I actually feel like rigging in blender is pretty fast, coming from rigging in Cinema 4D for a good part of the past decade I finally made the switch to blender and it feels a bit more intuitive than cinema 4D when it comes to rigging (been using it for a week now). Things I have noticed so far: cinema 4D handles the IK-spline concept far better, but blender handles constraints more comfortably. Blender bones are weird to me, cinema 4D itself uses the concept of joints (something like a zero length bone) and assigning one joint as a child of another creates a bone (the distance between these two determine the length of the bone), when porting some rigs that use IK splines to blender I noticed I needed to always add an extra bone at the end of each chain just to simulate the end joint, the rotation of which is needed, but adding such bone messes up the position of all other bones inside the IK spline chain because the last bone adds length to it, and there cannot be zero length bones, I have to then take tha bone out of the chain and use constraints to follow accordingly (thankfully there's a ton of constraint options for that in blender).
Gotta love rigging, it keeps my brain working.

I have been using blender for 6 months now but I suck at texturing. Any advice?
