What an amazing accomplishment! I think many of us want to create something like this when we start learning 3D but the persistence to get there is something few possess! Congrats

Hahaha I sure hope it lives up to those lofty expectations
Please submit this to film festivals so it has the chance to be oscar nominated!
I agree, it’s such a beautiful story
The chances have never been higher🔥(Thanks netflix)
Congrats on finishing this! Such a huge undertaking. And the visuals are fantastic.
Thanks for watching it. Your anvil texturing video was helpful towards the beginning of this.
Imagine the amount of blood, sweat, emotions, events, blender versions, and effort that has happened in 5 years being shown in a single video, a truly incredible conclusion to all your 3d tutorials! Definitely earned a sub and like!
A lot. Thank you!
@@SouthernShottywas all this made in blender ?😮
@@ItsMetallic all 3D and rendering was done in Blender.
This is absolute perfection of a Short film. The Cinematography, sound design, animation art style, the score and specially the Story. It was worth waiting for 5 years for this masterpiece.
Great
While watching I kept forgetting this film was made by ONE person, not a studio.
Really enjoyed this one, and very glad for you for finally finishing your film... well done!
Such a stellar work, very pretty, nostalgic, full of feeling! I showed it to Lev and he absolutely loved it. ❤
This was incredibly well made. I hope people notice the care that was put into it and are inspired to create something of their own
Lovely short film! Well done!
Yoo, did anyone else notice the owl's buns? That was funny 😂. Great animation!
I did lmao
Looks like everyone from leading blender teachers are praising this film... It's really great to see this
5 years in the making!! Can't wait!!!!!!!
Thanks! Stop by on the premiere launch!
more like 14 xD
5 years???
Wow.
I was making my own animation for 3+ months and that was unbelievably long and tough, can't even imagine how much problem and challenges you can see in 5 years..
This feels like if a movie was made about a watermelon Little Big Planet / Unravel / It Takes Two thing. Looks beautiful!
I love all three of those games haha
@@SouthernShotty lol
That’s what I thought dude! Lol
Absolutely LBP! Especially with the narrator voice, and the cozy feelings of materials.
I WAS GONNA SAY THAT this is so reminiscent of the Little Big Planet style lmao
Watching a movie like this made by a single animator from raw story to end finish result, makes me so happy and motivates us all to start working on our stories, this film is so well made, and so mesmerizing and whimsical to watch, i hope you keep on bringing your imagination into reality, keep up the good work buddy.
Thank you for the nice comment
10/10. Years of hard work and something that people will really appreciate. Was a great little film, and no doubt it will be continued. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
10 days until the release of 5 years worth of hardwork, I'm EXCITED 🍉

It's always such a delight to see your work, SouthernShotty! The amount of love and passion that went into making this is extremely evident. Congratulations on the huge release and I can't wait to watch as this film takes off!
When new video?
Thanks for posting about this on Twitter! It's so good!
This is absolutley beautiful. We Love it!
Watching this was truly delightful. I must say you are great storyteller.
I love that everything used to teach us #Blender3D was in this film. It felt so nostalgic. The storytelling, animation and art was so good. Great work Remmington 💗
Keeping your relation to Blender aside, even the script of this movie is so good. The visuals are amazing, obviously. But, the message of the movie, the dialogue, the emotions are just top notch. This is one of the best things I've ever seen. Your effort really shows. Watermelon Girl is my new hero. Beautiful Work, sir. Truly amazing.
The short film teaches us that everything happens for a reason,it teaches us to believe in own judgement, kindness, friendship.
In one word it's Marvelous✨
I remember all these characters!! ❤
All the tutorials, blender release notes... 🙈
This short film is very integral to the community! Thanks for making it happen 🌟
I can't imagine your relief and joy after finally finishing this!
Brooooo, so many years, so many tutoriais, this hits me in so many levels. Congrats!
Thank you, I hope you enjoy it
This is gonna win an Oscar for best told story, best animation, everything is great about it.🙂
wait I ..I have done this...
Yes!! I have been doing these all! Through all these years! I remember !! The cat, the wale, the textures, the modeling, the rigging... I have been there with you on this journey since the very beggining! I have been part of this project!! WE ALL HAVE BEEN!
and look at us now... how far did we go...
beatfiull film SothernShotty !❤
thank you...
for everything... :') 🤗
10/10, absolute masterpiece.
Since the very beginning she felt alone and used Wilsonmelon to cope with the feeling.
Through her journey, we can really feel how everyone has their own problems. But if we help each other, instead of blindly trying to do everything alone, we call all push each other further.
Maybe the real crown is the friends we made along the way? haha
I'll definitely show it to my kids one day as a lesson of friendship and cooperation, and I'm sure they're gonna love it!
Congrats for the perseverance, the result of your efforts was mind-blowing.
Absolutely fantastic! I'm just a old man, an old actor in tears!
My old computer broke, my brother was studying Blender and I got the Unity path. This awesome short movie gave me a shot of hope and energy to go back and get the hardware to restart! Thank you a lot!
Since I'm Brazilian, a bear hug and kisses on your cheeks in everyone over there!
First of all, hats off for the finalizing this gigantic project!! There are thousands of people abandoning projects as they realize 3D work is way more complex than they expected. The video itself is beautiful and its aesthetics is a pure gold. The stars on the sky, layers of water, hair of the main character, lighting, colors, this is just amazing work, hard to believe one person is capable of doing so. Respect for the cinematic camera work too. I loved the transitions when the watermelon girl was helping various other animals, this was brilliant!! The only thing I believe would be improved was the storytelling send the voice acting. At the beginning of the video I was kind of confused by what's going on. The final subtitles could have been a little bit longer, I didn't manage to read them. Nevertheless, this is a masterpiece and respect for making it till the end ❤❤❤
Congratulations on this masterpiece! And thank you for going the way of the watermelon girl and handing out so many pieces of rope for the Blender community along the way.
This is an encouraging comment, thank you
I have 30 years experience in 3D, this is a masterpiece!
I wouldn’t normally praise people for spending this many years on a shortfilm, but this looks incredible. Good job sticking with it on top of all your other work. I can’t wait to see it
Thanks a ton! Hope you stop by to watch it
Reading all the comments feels like a Blender Family Reunion. It just shows what a loved and appreciated member of the community you are. Thanks for everything! Great production, through and through.
Well said!
The most awaited project has arrived
Thank you, this is kind!
Our time has come!❤
Wooo!
Sorry I couldn't watch the end credits properly, I was still bawling my eyes out. This is really wonderful Shotty! Definitely a core memory for everyone.
A 13:00 minute masterpiece constructed entirely in Blender. There is no word to describe this. Just WOW!
The work and effort, the background, the colors, it is a spectacle that every Blender user should see and is truly an indescribable masterpiece made solely by one person. As already said, there is no word that can describe this masterpiece. Above all, the rendering must have taken a long time, I used Eevee back then, but now I use cycles and it takes a really long time, my last render in Cycles took more than 10 hours for just a few seconds. However, I'm considering using Unreal Engine as a renderer, as it renders much faster than Cycles and also looks as good or better than Cycles. Then this must have really taken an indescribably long time to render.
So there really is no word that can describe this masterpiece well enough. 💯🎉
After more than a year of seeing Shatty's characters as demos or examples in his tuorials I've finnaly met them and felt them. My first ever movie premiere, short or anytype and seeing 1k people comment live... Such an experience.
Thank you Shotty for your time in teaching us and for the heart message that this short film gives us.
You can tell by the amount of detail how much love and care went into this short! Absolutely loved it! 5 years well spent
it was amazing. I kind of feel like the story is a reflection of your own story here on youtube : helping many through the years with your tutorials, and we gave it back to you with the support and in the end it helped you reaching your goal (: amazing piece of work.
It's perfect for the Easter vacation that starts today! I'm so excited to see your hard work
Yay, thank you! Happy Holidays
👏 you are just incredible, my men. The amount of knowledge one needs to have to accomplish something like this goes far beyond 3d modeling and blender. Blessings, keep up the good work.
I really really loved it. I was engaged the entire time. The only thing that I didn't love was the ending. It was so short and fast. I wish we saw all of them enjoying the throne room. It was too quick. But that's not a huge problem if a problem at all. You did an amazing job! One of my favorites animated short films for sure. The story felt so magical and weird. I loooove when things make me feel this way lol ❤
repeating what some others have said this absolutely deserves to go to some film fests! the story is very simple but MAN the art direction is beyond something to write home about, you can feel the effort in every shot. remarkably good
Me: Drooling for watermelons
SounthernShotty: Enjoying his watermelons
I only came across this animation two days ago, my daughter (2years) and I have watched it more than 20x. She loves it (as do I) so much. Her words “again!! Again!!” When it finishes.
Great to find an animation that’s fun colours, artwork and compassionate story.
Having studied animation myself in the past, I appreciate the hard work that gone into this and the finished end product is now our family favourite. Up there with the move Song of the Sea.
I’ve never used Blender only Maya, I look forward to watching some of your tutorials.
All the best in your future creations.
Soo cute!! Loved the music especially, I think it really elevated the already perfect visuals. The beginning reminds me of this story called “The Happy Prince”.
I can't wait!!! All the glimpses from it you've shown us in your videos over the years have always been so captivating for me. You have an awesome style, and I'm very excited to see your vision finished!
Thank you so much!!
That is pure gold ! I started blender some months ago, and I've got to say, your mastery of modeling, texturing, animating, compositing and scripting is just magic. Thank you for this short film, I'll keep it in my "Golden videos" playlist ^^
Marvelously animated, and undoubtedly wonderful storytelling in just 13 minutes. To more to come!
I love that blender and all the other tools we have now empower people to be creative like this
Very excited here at the FINAL COUNTDOWN!
So close!
even just looking at the trailer i can tell its amazing
Thank you!
i watched it and oh my god did this movie make me literally almost cry..
also i cant imagine the render times for these in cycles//
Thank you for your contribution, honestly I loved this short film, it's nice to have people on blender like you !
Incredible story, and so well executed. I've been waiting a long time for this, and it did not disappoint! Well done man,
Very well done! The amount of time, effort and attention to detail truly shows! 🍉🍉
Was not expecting this today!!!! I can’t wait for the premiere soon, you’ve worked so hard on this!!🔥
I have! Thank you for recognizing that and thank you for the comment.
for sure! 😎
You should be proud of what you have done! All of your work really came together!
Beautiful outcome! Love the stylistic motifs and palette that you developed for this. It is an incredible feat that you accomplished through a tremendous amount of hard work. A great inspiration! 👏👏👏
drops at 4am local time, probably gonna miss the premiere by an hour or so. Congratulations on seeing this through.
Bummer, make sure to leave a comment and let me know how you like it
congrats on the launch 🤙🏿🤙🏿
Thank you! And thanks for being willing to share it. Appreciate it
@@SouthernShotty bro i have question how do you render your incredible film on blender
@@TechGameDev I use a 4090 rtx
Can't unsee those blue owl cheeks.
This was so good! I could definitely see this as a full length feature film and even a video game. I can see me playing this on my switch as a cute, cozy, action adventure game with puzzles that involve her using her hair to get through obstacles and help her new friends along the way. I also love the style choices you made, my favorite was the waves that looked like cardboard cuts like you would see on like a stage play. Great job!!!!!!!!
Wow! This looks amazing! Can't wait to see it all :D
I loved it especially the ending was so sweet!
🍉 WATERMELON 🍉
I’ve just finished watching this short film today and it’s very charming. I never knew what Blender is capable of.
I like that Watermelon Girl has finally reached her destination to inherit the throne after all the sacrifices & trials and tribulations she went through.
In the end, she quickly realizes that her mission wouldn’t be complete without having her friends in it, proving that it’s better to share your dreams with others in this world.
Congratulations for five productive years in making this masterpiece that’s sure to become an instant classic.
This video was so heartwarming! The animation is beautiful and the story is so touching. It really made me feel sad about the character's loneliness, but also hopeful for their future.
This has solidified you as a blender Legend.
Having followed the development indirectly with all your great tutorials has been a great ride, and seeing it all tied together so beautifully feels almost nostalgic already. Great job!
This is a great little story and so well done. Congratulations on release. 🎉🎉
The art style and the renders are amazing, as well as the sound design, it is stunning that only two people worked on it nice guys!! real masterpiece in Art
Is this whole production has done by yourself !!! Hats Off to your unique and stylish visual treatment !!!
Remmy, this is spectacular and a true achievement. Exceeded my expectations by a country mile, and with a downright juicy runtime. Long live Watermelon Girl.
This is a really great short film and Im happy you got to complete this project. Thank you so much for teaching us how to do this over the years. It started me on my own creative path and it makes me happy.
Wow that's so impressive 😍..
I am blown away by the quality of this film..
I'm really impressed with the art style and the animation. I thought the story was great, too. Incredible work!
The whale is a top tier character.
The best animation i've ever seen this year
Absolutely amazing! So inspiring can absolutely see the crazy amount of effort this would have taken.
A beautiful achievement, congratulations!
it was great to watch. I was transported to another world for 13 minutes
Impressive. Everything it's so good. Camera angle, editing, 3D model, lighting. Maybe the best one-man-animation so far
This was incredible - gorgeously crafted with the utmost care and love. So cute and emotional. Truly brought tears to my eyes. I hope you get help turning this into something even bigger and cuter!
The art, the story telling, the music, everything is so inspiring and soothing to heart. Applause to you man 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Absolutely fantastic work. All those little lovely details. The texturing. The animations. Wonderful! Love it!
depth and detail in every shot says how much effort had went into this over those years. congratulations on being consistent and reaching the end of a five year long journey and making this amazing short film. You are a great inspiration for everyone to stay consistent and reach their goals including me. Thank you!
What a beautiful, beautiful little film.
The amount of love and effort that went into this really is on full display in every single frame. The world is so pretty! From the wooden textures on many of the characters to the chipped paint on the whale's edges, from the waves rolling across the ocean to the stretchy clay animation of the lost cat, the entire word feels like a magical, whimsical arts and crafts land.
Wonderful work, Shotty. I for one can't wait to see what the next 5 years will bring. :)
It's beautiful. I can't even imagine how much work it took.
This made me cry. Amazing work friend, we’re all proud of you!
I hope you take some time to celebrate this huge achievement. Thank you for putting something this beautiful and inspiring out into the world.
It's Amazing! The concept, the camera work, the simplicity and those high quality textures. The music is pleasing and the watermelon girl, she is adorable.
I bet it took a month to get this masterpiece rendered lol.I really loved the part where the camera tilted when Watermelon girl bumped into the egg and then it re-alligned when she came into her senses, lovely.
Even if your hopes for a Netflix series will not go as planned, this work of yours is definitely such a piece of Art.
If I have ever children, they will see this animation of yours when they are young. I will make sure of that :D
You’re an inspiration snotty. You could so easily keep the amazing behind the scenes parts of your work “trade secrets” but you don’t. In a way you’re exactly like watermelon girl!
I appreciate that!
The diligence you gave to this film is incredible.
What a beautiful film!
I hope you can make your tv series👍
Thank you for sharing your process, allowing new and old blender users to learn from you.
So beautiful. The care and attention to each tiny detail was just breathtaking. Well done, so inspiring!
